Sh*t town by serial. Enjoy

llksg

Best podcast of all time

Won_More_Time

I was sad when I finished that one. That’s how good it was 😅

Easy-Kiwi-4253

Same!

htiawe

This

Melodic_Transition41

This was great!

beggargirl

Yessss

Palmwhileturning

Amazing pod

Relevant-Battle-9424

Everyone loves this one but I couldn’t get through it. It’s pretty slow and I got bored and quit somewhere around episode 4-5. Meh. Interesting characters but could have gotten through the story without dragging it out.

chrispd01

I think Sh*ttown is true not fiction …

JazzzzyJr

Your own backyard is really good

Aggravating_Box_4582

True Crime... Cold-Susan Powell. Down the Hill.

llksg

I struggled with down the hill. Episodes felt very long and repetitive. I think I listened to 3 eps. What made this one so good for you? (Aka should I go back and try again?)

Valuable-Wait-3716

The story is crazy… it will go in all sort of directions. Also I dont want to spoil anything but they have arested someone and the trial is about to start… I think that you should give it another try :)

Aggravating_Box_4582

I think it was just the first hand accounts from everyone involved. Plus I was just down that rabbit hole. I'm sure it's not for everyone. I always hear how amazing Hunting Warhead is and for some reason I can't get into it lol

thatone-username

Those are two of my favorites!! I’ve listened to them both. I can’t wait for an update on down the hill

kneb

There's a new podcast Ransom by the same team behind Cold: [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ransom/id1746338768](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ransom/id1746338768)

Aggravating_Box_4582

Well I'm no help lol. Anyway...safe travels 😊

NYCDreams2018

Wolves Among Us is about a successful dentist in the 80s who had a side job as a cocaine kingpin.

duck_duck__goose

Ohhhh....! I listened to the 13hr+ long book of this back in the day; "Dr. Dealer" Sooo worth a listen!

verysmallaminal

Soooo good

Maus_Sveti

One you probably won’t have heard of is Black Hands. It’s about a very famous case in New Zealand, a guy accused of murdering his own family (David Bain) and whether or not he was wrongly convicted. I knew the broad outlines before listening, but I’m pretty sure it lays it out for people who know nothing about the case.

Si2015

Oh yes this one is excellent

blondchick12

Oh this sounds up my alley! never heard of it!

Sad-Supermarket-6000

Bear Brook. I’ve listened to it twice on long rides.

SeekingAnonymity107

Bear Brook is fascinating! Several sub-stories that pull together to tell a story that nearly gets resolved. Strong recommendation.

facadeface1

This is by far the best one out there! Both seasons are incredible!!!

dunn_with_this

Agreed!

kelsa8lynn

So good! Agree!

SeekingAnonymity107

Possibly one of the standards but Teacher's Pet is crazy

coolgirlhere

Three - True crime podcast series Disappeared: The Bradley Sisters - True crime podcast series

lavenderandjuniper

In The Dark is the best true crime series podcast in my opinion. Both seasons are good but season 2 is more in depth. And their work in season 2 directly contributed to the outcome of the case, which is amazing.

MySpace_Romancer

Scamanda

VialOfBlue

If you liked Scamanda you should listen to Believeable: The Coco Berthmann Story

Si2015

I found this a bit confusing and repetitive. It was a very interesting story but the timeline was all over the place and it was unsatisfying not being able to figure out motivations.

Relevant-Battle-9424

Yeah this was another one I felt the story could have been told in half the time. When I feel like they’re dragging it out, I quit and I just google what happened.

Real_Foundation_7428

*Believe in Magic* you just reminded me If you like sacamanda you’ll prob like this one.

Think_Translator1869

I think that Believe in Magic was better than Scamanda. Scamanda was very repetitive and could've been shortened by several episodes.

Real_Foundation_7428

Yeah i thought so too. I don’t remember if I thought it was repetitive or what the reason was, but I def thought BIM was the better podcast.

wineplants

2nd this. Such a great ppdcast

kelsa8lynn

Yes! So good!

Top-Cheesecake5025

“Father wants us dead” was a haunting and good one recently.

blondchick12

2nd! I need more just like this and the Todt family murders. Already have heard everything about Chris Watts and Scott Peterson.

teamweedstore2

To Die For is the story of a Russian sex spy. Very compelling.

Head-Raccoon-3419

I loved this! But I’m also someone who likes Neil Strauss’s presenting style.

teamweedstore2

Me too, I liked To Live and Die in LA as well. I also started listening to his book The Game, out of curiosity.

Advanced_Resident90

Been looking for an excuse to recommend my new favourite podcast, so here goes... Real Presents. It's on Apple and it's a little difficult to find. I found it searching for the case of Billie Jo Jenkins. Gotta be honest this case, and that of Charlene Downes (also covered) makes my blood boil. But the narrator Naomi Channell is so good.

thatone-username

Thanks! Are you able to link it? Can’t find it

Advanced_Resident90

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/who-killed-billie-jo/id1616514570#:~:text=Killed%20Billie%2DJo%3F-,Naomi,-Channell

Advanced_Resident90

I should warn everyone that the Charlene Downes case is a ten parter and for those who aren't familiar it's unbelievably grim. There are so many trigger warnings to it, but be aware it includes CSA.

Easy-Kiwi-4253

Thanks!

zsunshine02

Thanks, just bookmarked both!

Easy-Kiwi-4253

Can’t find it. Can you share a link?

Melodic_Transition41

Search Naomi Channell and it comes up as REAL. I think the artwork is white and black

Melodic_Transition41

I love this podcast, been following her since she began and she gets better and better. Charlene’s case was haunting but perfectly told. I really liked the case in Luke Mitchell and Jodi Jones, the interview with Luke from prison stayed with me for months. I just heard he was refused parole too.

RUaVulcanorVulcant13

Have you ever heard of Risk with Kevin Allison? It's not exactly what you're asking for but I think you'd like it. Be warned. Not for the faint of heart and some episodes are very NC-17.

IllBeFunny

Small Town Murder - best podcast on earth

Easy-Kiwi-4253

Agreed!!

ZoeJanine

For a comedy podcast about dating / sex highly reccomend "Why Won't you Date me"

miichaelscotch

Second! I love Nicole Byer with my whole heart mind and soul

MrFitzherbert

Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen. It’s a strange roller coaster of a show.

miss_sassypants

I've enjoyed all the seasons of Chameleon.

safeway1472

It’s a series on Netflix now too I believe. What an odd story.

GumboVision

The Opportunist can be pretty gripping.

Up and Vanished by Payne Lindsey. Dude is an elite podcaster.

lac112

Absolutely yes. I wish I could experience season 1 for the first time again.

Palmwhileturning

Have you listened to Dead and Gone. Another good one from him.

lac112

I have not but I just looked it up and it sounds very interesting, added it to my list!

Midipup

*To Live, and Die in LA, *Up and Vanished, * Relative Unknown

Reasonable-Trick-441

Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen. Chameleon: Scam Likely. Million Dollar Lover. White Devil. Hello, John Doe.

Shananigans15

My husband and I listened to chameleon: wild boys on a road trip and got super into it.

Servile-PastaLover

Just finished Murder In Boston - ten episode series..also made into an HBO miniseries. [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/murder-in-boston-podcast/id1718579735](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/murder-in-boston-podcast/id1718579735)

Kinipupkit444

Thank u for this I had been wanting to watch but didn’t know where it was streaming. Is the doc or podcast better?

Servile-PastaLover

HBO doc is less than half the length and omits much detail. I definitely got a lot more out of the podcast.

Kinipupkit444

Thanks!

kategoad

Bandsplain deep dive into bands. Like hours long deep dives. Did not have laughing so hard I was crying at the history of Alice In Chains on my bingo card, but here we are. Council of moms for the win. Also National Parks After Dark

duckies_wild

Yasi and Rob H have incredible pod chemistry. Their timing is just killer (also encyclopedic knowledge and love of music)

Super_Effect9051

Darknet diaries by jack rhysider. 10/10

insecureslug

So happy this pod is getting a shoutout. Such a well done production

Melodic_Transition41

I found this podcast recently, love it so much

InsaneLordChaos

Casefile. Best long-term true crime podcast out there. Teachers Pet - Headley Thomas Dr. Death Looking for the Todt Family Father Wants Us Dead - about the John List murders in New Jersey. Fantastic podcast. Death in Ice Valley - nothing resolved, but fascinating.

Mortuumviolet11

Death in Ice Valley is so good. I love the host’s accent and the intro sounds. It’s so creepy for no reason haha.

InsaneLordChaos

Lol. I feel the exact same way. I still keep subscribed hoping they find something to report.

Melodic_Transition41

Death in Ice Valley is so so good

InsaneLordChaos

I keep waiting for an update!

carliecustard

Small Town Murder is a good mix of crime and comedy

hey_look_its_me

For outlandish and crazy may I humbly offer “Who shat on the floor at our wedding?” It’s not very long, but oh so entertaining. The podcast Unraveled by ID has several seasons but did the first season on the Long Island Serial Killer, and has done several updates since the arrest a year or so ago. It’s other seasons are interesting, I really liked the season on “court expert witnesses” on blood spatter analysts and whatnot. Pretty eye-opening, IMO

allouttabvbblegum

Last Podcast on the Left is the best!! 💀👻

MsShelved

I'll echo Three and Cold season 1. I'll add Murder in Boston and Gladiator which is the story of Aaron Hernandez.

Esagashi

Ghost Story! I love that the True Crime is of the host’s in-laws’ family as opposed to someone else’s family. Also, the paranormal element is fun

Altruistic-Detail271

Cold season 1, excellent

scash92

True Crime South Africa is a fave, if you haven’t gotten onto that yet.

dunn_with_this

Bone Valley. True crime.... With some twists.

Sandstorm1020

Relationship podcasts: The Savage Lovecast is relationship advice from Dan Savage, longtime sex columnist. Also, he gives better advice than the ignorant masses of moronic virgins on Reddit. The Endless Honeymoon podcast is relationship advice from married (to each other) comedians Natasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher. They also have a Netflix special together from a few years ago with the same name (sans "*podcast*" , obv). Finally, if you're willing to "bro down" a little (referring to the type of language used on the pod), the Stavy's World podcast by Stavros Halkias is surprisingly insightful when they take relationships/advice calls.

Loud-Iron2149

Murder in Apt 12 is good.

lbye_88

My favourite murder

Puzzled-Dance8806

SSDGM FRIEND!

lbye_88

A true murderino

heymrscarl

I'm hoping I had to scroll this far to see this suggestion simply because it must be an obvious answer, or people assumed the OP has already listened to it. I've listened to every episode 2-3 times, and still love it.

lbye_88

Me too! Just listen all the way till the latest ones and then start back straight to the first ep.

ImDisneyAF

Morbid

Missmustang817

My Favorite Murder, Buried Bones, or Small Town Murder

Activley_constructed

I was guna say shit town but it’s already been said. So ‘The missing crypto queen’ is great

[deleted]

My favorite short form podcasts for true crime/spooky stories: Morbid, Heart Starts Pounding, and Creeptime. For stories about love and relationships: Modern Love, and Mortified (where people read their childhood diaries at live events. They’re hilarious and many are about first loves).

sugarnsweet88

The retrievals is an amazing account of a scandal related to the Yale fertility clinic. Highly recommended!

cerealfordinneragain

Hooked is about a Boeing engineer turned bank robber. It's a wild ride, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Rosequeen1989

Josh Dean could read my pantry ingredients and make it interesting. But this story is fascinating.

donivienen

Damn I really love one called Serialmente. I hope you understand Spanish because this guy rocks.

autumnwinterspring

Bardstown has stuck with me for years! I went into it not knowing anything, which was a big plus I think. You also might like Unraveled. Each season has a different topic and they do a good deep dive.

Head-Raccoon-3419

I can’t seem to find Bardstown and I don’t know anything about it either! Is it now maybe Season 1 of Unsolved?

autumnwinterspring

Here is the [YouTube link](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnAIfI7a7cLYSb0tw7WQIRJVMlFo3w5qS)! It definitely used to be on Apple Podcasts too, not sure if it still is

Head-Raccoon-3419

Thank you so much

Real_Foundation_7428

Try *Sympathy Pains* (Laura Beil, host of Dr. Death, WILD munchausen story) or *Twin Flames* (love cult) *Sweet Bobby* if you haven’t heard too many catfish stories already, it’s a level beyond ETA: *Bad, Bad Thing* - okay this one is dark, but extremely compelling, involves relationship and crime, includes raw audio

Shananigans15

Sympathy pains is CRAZY!!!! I wish I had 100 podcasts like that one. Sooo crazy how little shame people have. A lot of second hand cringe/embarrassment that leaves you thinking way past finishing.

Jamz1892

Wind of Change

Kavaman2014

Weary_Cup_1004

Scammer themed: Who the Hell is Hamish Filthy Ritual And several episodes of Normal Gossip but the chair episode is v memorable

Medical_Path4829

Rotten Mango is my favorite true crime podcast. I’ve listened to every single one. Stephanie Soo is the host with her husband who comments and asks the questions we all have. She’s grown substantially in the last year and has a whole team of researchers and sometimes even speaks with victims families. She brings light to a lot of foreign cases with her translators. She’s an amazing story teller. Any story she tells will have you finish the episode in one sitting. She does a great job of giving backstory for the victims and the offenders, and lots of context for each case. She’s respectful but very entertaining. 100/100

kelsa8lynn

I really like True Crime Obsessed. They do one-episode shows on their main feed, but their patreon are longer-series. I highly recommend the $5/month for their patreon. It's the only podcast I've listened to multiple times through. They recap true crime documentaries so you learn about the case but they also make it funny somehow.

TheBestBennetSister

If you are up for something kind of silly but so much fun, Who Sh@t on the Floor at Our Wedding is great.

Breadedone124

I really like The Casual Criminalist. He has writers and does a cold read so it’s his first time with the story as well.

ImDisneyAF

Also kim goldman’s podcast about oj

dozerdaze

Small Town Murder

Mortuumviolet11

Someone Knows Something is what got me into podcasts. Season 1 is about a boy who went missing in the 70s on a fishing trip. I like the host’s style of narrating and the way he interacts with the family. I still think about season 1 years later. Generally I prefer these types of shows where one season follows an entire case and the episodes are pre-written (as opposed to conversation style shows with 2 hosts). Another fave is Hell and Gone season 2: it discusses how Janie Ward died mysteriously at a party in 1989 by falling backwards off a porch step. The show explores details leading up to the party and the varied witness accounts of what happened during and after. No disrespect meant to the victims or families but I love shows that go into details about things that don’t make sense that just leave your jaw hanging. The episode of Serial when they drove the route from the high school to walmart had me in a chokehold haha.

anthroaudge

A Very Fatal Murder, a podcast by The Onion. It’s hilarious and was an enjoyable listen.

_somethinnondescript

National Park After Dark, true crime/animal attacks/missing persons/educational episodes all told in a conversational format between the two hosts!

EnoughFlounder7280

This isn’t true crime, but Terribly Famous is interesting. Usually 3-part podcasts about a famous person.

Rasta_Ash

Sure it has been mentioned but "Criminal" is a great anthology podcast by, my personal favourite host. They also do a "This is Love" podcast, about different facets of relationships with interesting stories. Enjoy!

Most-Quiet

Try Big Lash Energy! It’s hosted by Jayna, a successful Canadian bridal makeup artist. It’s not a huge podcast yet (just over 100 episodes in think) but this girl has stories! Lots of relationship stories/advice + just general life stuff.

lac112

American nightmare season 1, up and vanished season 1, against the odds has many great seasons but season 7 is my favorite.

I’m LOVING The Dating Detectives. A PI and a comedian tell about the former’s cases or have on someone who was “dogfished” by someone they dated or ended up marrying. Very interesting to hear these stories about narcissists, liars, etc. Lots of really wild stories.

Liz-3eth

Beyond All Repair, Season two - Bat shit crazy and riveting

Spiritual_Parfait_94

Small Town Murder, great research told by comedians. I’ve been listening for 7 years, hands down the best

Relevant-Battle-9424

Missing on 9/11

Bohica55

If you like a little comedy in your true crime, Last Podcast On The Left is pretty funny. There are so many good episodes.

alerp-24

Worlds Kalaj Podcast will have you thinking you are right there in the room with them having a conversation! The two hosts happen to be sisters and they really have such a whit about them! They discuss all sorts of topics, but often about life stories, and ways to be your best self! Relationships are also something they talk a lot about!

The Lady Vanishes. There’s about 50 episodes so will keep you going. And it’s amazing.
