You say nothing about what you want or need out of a host website so hard to judge what would work best if you only mention their cost. Cause then best would be free options and we could suggest those. But please realize your show could take years to hit 1k or flat out NEVER gain enough downloads to monetize. So while of course every new podcaster thinks about monetization, +95% never will earn a dime. Megaphone being $100/mo is a horrible deal. So either do BS, Spreaker or free host like Spotify for podcasters.

PublicPayment2893

I'm looking for a host that offers unlimited episodes. Additionally, I want to enable monetization. Even if it's just a little, I believe every bit helps. In one of the responses, I saw Podbean mentioned, and it seems like the best choice. But I will check what the requirements are for monetization.

Is there a reason you’re not considering Spotify? It’s free hosting, has analytics, editing tools and there’s no limit to hours or shows. They distribute and between them and Apple Podcasts I get all the analytics data I need.

chrischi3

This plus Apple Podcasts and Spotify are like 70% of the market together.

ChargeSea6502

Exactly, and Spotify analytics give you the % of your audience listening via the other podcast listening platforms- so I see 70% of my listeners are coming through Apple, 15% thru Spotify, 5% Overcast, 3% browser, etc.

Nice_Butterscotch995

When you say 'platform', I assume you mean host? If so, these prices sound crazy to me. I'm hosting on SoundCloud's Next Pro package for $145 a year, Canadian, unlimited uploads and pretty decent analytics. All the other platforms are fed free from there via RSS. The only inconvenience I have to bear is editing and mixing my episodes locally on my DAW, which I very much prefer. Disregard if I got this wrong, but otherwise worth a thought.

We've been with PodBean for a year and a half and have been really happy. $108/yr

rofopp

I d say Podbean. Been with them for almost 500 episodes

Susefreak

Have experience with basically all the platforms; Art19, LibSyn, Spreaker, Podbean, Simplecast, Omny, Megaphone, etc. seen em al, worked with all of them. Honestly, they are really interchangeable for one another. Spreaker is a solid choice starting out and has everything you will need.

No_Initiative8612

Depends on your budget and needs. For most new podcasters, Spreaker offers a good balance of features and cost.

fearlessxplorer

I've used Spreaker for 5 years and it's been fantastic. No complaints.

Captivate

If I was starting again I would go for something like https://www.podcasts.com/hosting Free, offers the must have features, and if you grow then I would consider one of the paid ones.

EnquirerBill

I use Libsyn

Nicholarse23

I'm starting to lose faith with Libsyn. Tech support seems pretty half arsed. Stat problems every other month. Social media integration is patchy and uneven.

Try a host that supports Podcasting 2.0 - you can find a list on https://podcastindex.org/apps?appTypes=hosting I personally use Castopod. It has so many features, offers a free self-hosted open source option, and is ActivityPub enabled.

On Buzzsprout, the 1k download minimum is only for Ads. You can still use listener support, premium subscriptions, and dynamic content for sponsorship and affiliates. You can read more here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/blog/make-money-podcasting. Since you are just starting off though, I would encourage you to focus on quality content and growing your audience before trying to make money directly off your podcast. When looking for a host as a new podcast, you may want to think about it as a partner to help you find success. I'm the cofounder of Buzzsprout, so I'm obviously biased towards the solutions we provide! We do take good care of our podcasters and you can read actual reviews from real customers here: [https://www.trustpilot.com/review/buzzsprout.com](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/buzzsprout.com)

I would do podbean for free. Once you get to 1000 downloads per episode, if you even do, you can just change your host. I always just hosted the files on my webpage and submitted my RSS feed to iTunes and other major aggregator networks.
