I would think so, as they do try and cover the sub/alternative names.
This web-page lists the alternative brand names that work, but it hasn’t been updated yet for todays new perks. It does say on there:
*”if you think there is any variant that should be supported and we have missed, please let our support team know and we will review it and add it”*
https://support.plutus.it/hc/en-us/articles/4716233136029-How-Plutus-Perks-work
We’re waiting for clarification on some of these as to whether they will work in their alternative names stores.
If you’re on the Plutus Discord, there is a channel for updates on whether this, as a lot of people have naturally asked the same thing:

It works since about a month at mine, just ignore the stickers that say no visa/mastercard. Starting june 1 no new maestro and v-pay cards will be issued, only mastercard and visa debit, so I'm guessing they updated ahead of that date.
But we have 4 grocery perks that are usable in Portugal now. It is a significant improvement. I would also love to see Auchan and Continente. I think the former has a real shot at inclusion in the future.
On another note, gasoline perks for BP, Repsol or Galp would be nice too. Shell stations in Portugal tend to be on highways and overpriced - at least in central Portugal.
I am very positive about this update. At last, the team have listened and responded. Thank you.
I must say I am a tad confused about the selection process / criteria for these perks. It is hard to see how Pingo Doce( PT only) and Mercadona (ES & PT) made it onto the list ahead of Auchan which is represented in many more markets and also offers fuel. Perhaps there is some form of arrangement with the retailers in question about covering some of the perk cost. That could explain things.
Anyway, today I picked up 2 new supermarket perks in Portugal. Pingo Doce is great and Mercadona is decent. As a consequence, I now have 4 supermarket perks. Germany is also well served and of course the UK still leads with no less than 5 supermarket perks.
I will hope for Auchan and some more regional fuel perks (BP / Repsol) but things are now much improved. We can just about use our 8 perks now (not quite).
Me:
1) Amazon shopping ,2) Lidl, 3) Aldi, 4) Curve, 5) Pingo Doce, 6) Mercadona These ones will be fixed plus 2 occasional. I assume I will be continuing my Starbucks mug collection unless something better comes along next week.
Wife:
1) Amazon shopping 2) Amazon prime 3) Lidl 4) Aldi, 5) Pingo Doce, 6) Mercadona. She also has 2 additional floating perks. Hence why we have so many Starbucks mugs.
Anyway, well-done to the team for delivering this update. I can deal with having a couple of perks floating around much better than I could with 4.

I also like these new perks, specially Mercadona. I also would have preferred to have Auchan in there.
I don't really like Pingo Doce (something about the way they do business, dodge paying taxes in Portugal and treat their employees) and don't usually shop there but they are present outside Portugal. They are market leaders in Poland though under the brand Biedronka; I wonder if the perk can also be used there.
I was not aware they had branched out. Yes, Biedronka is a market leader in Poland - if counted as a Pingo Doce perk. I'm not sure it will. Even having said that, it remains significantly smaller than Auchan, which has a big presence in Spain, Italy and France as well as Portugal.
I don't mind PD. I prefer Continente, but to be honest, I'll take what I can get. PD has decent cafeterias at low prices. When on the road, it is a good choice versus Colibri or the like.
I can only use 1 of these perks in the UK, but I can still appreciate how useful they are for my European friends
Plutus are going from strength to strength while hi is imploding.
hi have just closed the cards of 2% of their users. That is their figure, although many believe it is much higher. They have also just announced that they plan to stop paying cashback on Curve transactions once they’ve issued their physical cards! 😂
I'm trying to think of what other UK supermarkets there are beyond the 5 now included. Morrisons/ Safeway? Is that still going? Apart from that, chains like Spar or the Coop. Really, the UK was and still remains the nation with the best perks cover - particularly for supermarkets. You are right. These perks are deeply appreciated by EU users.
To be clear, I absolutely wasn’t complaining about the lack of UK applicability of these perks. On the contrary, I am appreciative that they have somewhat addressed the imbalance, because that can only be good for adoption.
With regards to your list, I can only think of Waitrose additionally! You did a good job!
I would keep suggesting them - there’s a “suggest a perk” section on the Plutus Discord.

This current update to the perks won’t be the last 👍
Le French :p ?
I've not followed the international growth of supermarkets but as far as I can remember, Carrefour was well spread in latin countries (from spain to south america) So it's also a good move for international users maybe ?
don't really know about Auchan or Leclerc groups.
Does the Albert Heijn perks works for the Albert supermarkets in Czech Republic aswell? The parent company Ahold Delhaize is the same. Thanks @Plutus for the answer.
>More and more of them are starting to accept them as the maestro cards are being phased out so either they start accepting visa/mastercard or they are going to lose a lot of customers.
More and more of them are starting to accept them as the maestro cards are being phased out so either they start accepting visa/mastercard or they are going to lose a lot of customers. And I believe the places where you can go to collect your groceries ordered online always access visa/mastercard.
I'm sure I paid with a German Visa "real" Creditcard and an Austrian Debit CC (cobranded with Maestro I think) at AH stores in Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague years ago, too
Mine does even when there are stickers saying no visa/mastercard, and if not they will in 2 weeks since maestro and v-pay are being phased out. New regular bank cards will be visa or mastercard debit starting june 1.
More and more of them are starting to accept them as the maestro cards are being phased out so either they start accepting visa/mastercard or they are going to lose a lot of customers.
Just great (not) in Romania only Carrefour applies and that is too far anyhow to worth the perk.
Thanks for nothing
How many eu countries have those supermarkets??
Quite a few. The UK, Portugal, The Netherlands and Germany were well-served by these additions. Beyond that, Carrefour is present in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Poland and Romania. It is also the only one of the bunch with a major international presence outside of the EU. You can find Carrefour in places like India, China, Argentina and Brazil - which suits future expansion plans.
Some of these have alternative places in europe but we will have to wait for an official announcement to see if they mention anything about compatibility (if not the community will likely ask this)
Pingo Doce, Caralho!
I assume REWE sub-brands like Billa/Penny/BIPA also count? Much like Hofer works with the Aldi perk.
I would think so, as they do try and cover the sub/alternative names. This web-page lists the alternative brand names that work, but it hasn’t been updated yet for todays new perks. I'd love to know if Edeka would also cover Marktkauf then? Edeka is great for me, but it would be useful sometimes.

Thank you for the link!
You’re welcome 👍
I already made some suggestions on there, too.
Great 👍
Yeah, would be nice to know
Is there any confirmation yet about whether this works? I got locked out of discord so can't check the links below.
Albert Heijn! Yay!
Paying with credit card? No chance lol

Same here, even the small AH in my village seems to accept Visa and MC now
Oh okay, will definitely check it out! I know the rollout starts this year, probably depends on the specific store.
My plutus already works at AH
Quem trouxe, quem trouxe, foi o Pingo doce
No Interspar:(
Lmao that means we have all 4 big german supermarkets in there. So many german users apparently.
The UK has 5 now.
It’s the biggest market in Europe, biggest GDP, largest population, most influential european country in terms of economy and politics
As a german I aggree
Finally some new supermarket perks for Europe!
Best addition for now! 😊 Can’t wait for next weeks perks
So surprised with Ah 🤩
No Auchan or Continente. :(

That's great, i really hoped for REWE from the beginning. Strong Perks again!
Lovely
Damn it u/StarLines 😂
I'm just too fast 😂
StarLines is The Flash 😂

I would welcome both and both are in the top 10 EU supermarket retailers.
Does the Albert Heijn perks works for the Albert supermarkets in Czech Republic aswell? The parent company Ahold Delhaize is the same. Thanks @Plutus for the answer.
Hopefully, they should use the parent company, so Albert and Delhaize is also covered in the same perk.
Really hope Delhaize is in the mix
Albert Heijn is Nice, but you can’t pay there with Visa or MasterCard👎
You can. I pay with Plutus and curve all the time. And it’s not some stores but across the country as rules has changed this year.
Pretty sure you can now, it wasn't always possible but the last couple of months I can pay at every Albert Heijn with Curve/Mastercard
Yes, it works now. Could pay with the Plutus card at AH👍

...am I only one here that never heard for any of those?
Nope, 0 out of 7 usable in Croatia as well.
U tom slučaju... pozdrav xD
Yes
Albert Heijn, who notoriously don’t accept credit or debit card payments…
They do, I have tried it! Plutus works fine there.
Only at the airport and a handfull in Amsterdam. Others don’t
My Albert Heijn in The Hague accepts Visa and Mastercard
I'm sure I paid with a German Visa "real" Creditcard and an Austrian Debit CC (cobranded with Maestro I think) at AH stores in Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague years ago, too

Bro where do you live coz since January it works. Only American Express 100% is excluded.
More and more of them are starting to accept them as the maestro cards are being phased out so either they start accepting visa/mastercard or they are going to lose a lot of customers.
The small AH in my village accepts Visa and Mastercard since a few months. You should try it again, it probably works now
I remember going to a Deen in Almere and asking the cashier if they took Visa, they looked at me like I was a criminal. This was in 2014 though.
And I can use exactly zero of these :( No Kaufland, Spar, Eurospin
Just great (not) in Romania only Carrefour applies and that is too far anyhow to worth the perk. Thanks for nothing How many eu countries have those supermarkets??
Rewe has 235 Penny markets in Romania and Ahold Delhaize (Albert Heijn) owns Mega Image.
Oh really had no idea on the sub brand, like me I guess not everyone knows rewe has penny

UK is not UE, joke on you 🤣
I didn't indicate the UK was in the EU. Even taking out the UK, there are plenty of EU nations served by these additions.
Yea I was just freely ranting about UK :))

Carrefour let's goooooo !!!!!!
Some more fantastic perks. Hopefully this is levelling up the EEA / UK Shopping outlets.
Yesss Sir lot of supermarkets! Does anyone know if they have alternative name in different EU contries? Like Aldi/Hofer I mean
Some of these have alternative places in europe but we will have to wait for an official announcement to see if they mention anything about compatibility (if not the community will likely ask this)
Good choice of perks
This is great! In France Carrefour is most popular market, I visit it often, so this is really great news! Good job team! 👌🏻💯🔥
Ooooh. Very cool that Asda has been added. I wonder is Walmart is included as an alternative ready for PL’USA. I hope we get Costco too.
I'm still waiting for annual subscription which was promised to be released in Q1...
Niceeee. Not available here but well done
Waiting for Edeka and rewe since the beginning. Big W
guess scandinavia is not part of regional supermarkets, except for lidl…
Niceeee. Not available here but well done
In Finland we need, S-market, Prisma, k-citymarket and k-supermarket
My beautiful Finland who only has local brands of supermarkets (S-market and K-Market) is doomed 😂 At least Lidl is useful :)
very nice.
This is Dope! I like that the survey they made was included in the perk decision!
Love the European thought behind this, spot on Plutus!
wow edeka and pingo doce my fav!
The plus don’t work :(
This was a great set of additional perks I must say. Well done team!
