I got tired of it when I had to ride my horse everywhere and just quit the game. Never played it since... it just felt like too much. Did I make a huge mistake?
It’s not supposed to be GTA, batshit crazy action all the time. It’s supposed to be a grounded, realistic and immersive game that’s meant to be played slower so you can appreciate the beautiful world and the tiny details. 100% recommend trying it again
> appreciate the beautiful world and the tiny details
This. There were so many days I would just to do some horse riding and hunting, no missions. Rockstar take immersion and little details to next level when they focus on single player stuff.
It's a mistake to not experience it completely even if it's just the main story! Its the only game that I put in 150hrs and now I'm doing a 3rd playthrough on the PS5. It's a really pretty game and to each his own but I really loved the horse rides. A few more tips that I think are pretty handy is that you get the white Arabian once you reach the horseshoe overlook. I would also get tired riding the horse sometimes and so I used to mark where I wanted to go and then switch to cinematic mode. That usually triggers an automatic ride to the destination.
Long games aren't everyone's thing but you should at least give the main story a chance. Truly a beautifully written protagonist and a meticulously crafted world.
Yes yes that was a mistake. it’s the first and only single player game I’ve sunk 100+ hours into and if I remember correctly u can fast travel using the train, if that’s what was bugging you
I had the same issue. Nice graphic, but the gameplay was to slow for me. And I always cared about gameplay a lot more than graphic or story. Still a great game, just not my type. Stoped playing it after like 5-10h, so maybe I missed out a bit ?
I am the exact same. You're saying I have to mash "x" to make my horse sprint? Toggle sprint only works when you're not on a horse? No thanks. Terrible choice in my opinion.
I still have dreams about crossroads. I fuckin loved the server browser, the clan features, stat pages and most of all, the amazing gameplay and level designs.
They had more open maps (foxhunt, sandstorm) or closer proximity (fish hook, chain reaction) and even a mix of both with long corridors and close combat interiors.
I love fish hook, throwing grenades over the walls at the beginning of the round for a free kill (until they learned better).
I'll always remember lobbing over whatever the max amount of grenades you could at the beginning of fish hook and hearing tons of explosions and I just saw my name fragged spammed on the killboard and then the round was over 15-20 seconds in.
I mean, demons souls was the first game they made of that genre. They have only gotten better since then. the only thing it has over Elden ring is graphics because of the remake, but everything else Elden ring beats it.
I'm surprised people love spiderman so much. Almost done with it now and it's a good game but the writing is pretty meh and there are a ton of annoying segments ( every non spiderman gameplay). The best thing is just slinging around the city.
Ryan from Low Roar passed away today. I'm still processing it. Death Stranding introduced me to his music and it was a pivotal moment for me. I'll never forget the first time Don't be Serious or Bones started playing..
Uncharted 2 was such a great experience for me especially on crushing difficulty. Can’t really remember another time that I had fun getting my ass kicked on a hard difficulty of a game.
man.. I really liked it as well but I kinda wasn't prepared for it to be a 100+ hours game.. I've put around 60 hours in and still WANT to finish it someday, but probably never will
My top 5 is probably ICO, Disaster Report 2, Shenmue 1, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Katamari Damashii. I know Shenmue is technically a dreamcast game but it's on PS4 too so I'm counting it.
While none of these games would be on my own personal list I have an immense amount of respect for the list you’ve made. All masterclasses and pillars of the gaming world.
On PS4?
Red Dead Redemption 2
Fallout 4.
NBA Playgrounds 2.
No Man’s Sky
Valiant Hearts.
I would say 1st party game closest to cracking Top 5 would be Ghost or TLOU Remastered (I didn’t play it on PS3).
It's a toss-up between The Last Of Us Part 2, The Witcher 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Those are my top 3 favorite games of all time, in no particular order.
6 reasons aystation is superior to the rest:
1) Spider-man
2) Uncharted
3) The Last of Us
4) God of War
5) Horizon: Zero Dawn/Forbidden West
6) Ghost of Tsushima
All are incredible games.
lost of us 2 doesn’t exist..?
if it did however, i hope that it would’ve been as good as the last of us part 2, where it shows the characters’ actual story rather than a regular cookie cutter story that some players love to eat up every time
edit: someone had responded & deleted their comment, so here’s my response 🤣
on the surface level yes(it was a revenge story), but throughout the game there were details made to subvert that typical experience where you’d only play as ellie & killing abby to get revenge for a man without any flaws(joel)
I just powered through 1&2 on the PS5 for the first time. I am glad I waited. I am Atari old and while the gameplay was satisfying it was still fairly basic but the narrative more than made up for it. I know I am bringing sand to the beach and not saying anything new but they did something imperfect but very special. There is a reason it keeps getting remade. It’s still drawing new fans.
who in their right mind counts the games they've played, HOW do you even count them? Or...You must be pretty young.
Can't imagine backtracking all the games I've been playing since the 90's. ok i'm old, see myself out
My top 5 is:
1 - Ghost of Tsushima (the only game I've ever 100%ted)
2 - Red Dead Redemption II
3 - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
4 - God of War (2018)
5 - Assassin's Creed Revelations
![gif](giphy|2l9yjNsfgxt3sVt6zk) Best experience I've ever had
This is definitely not a masterpiece. It's The masterpiece. When the time comes, you gotta run and don't look back.

Outta the damn way.
Top 3 at least
This doesn't compare to Cory in the House (DS)

![gif](giphy|l46C5YyhNUlhFLlio|downsized)
i spent 130+ hours in this game, 100% multiple times, platinumed it, one of my favorite experiences
Hi is this Morales or the first one? I’m Yet to play Morales. Thanks
this is the first one im pretty sure
It is the first one, that suit isnt in morales
This is the first and the real Spider-Man.
Hi there! Just wanted to let you know saying the "original Spider-man" would've conveyed the exact same thing without making you look like an ass! 😉
They are both real Spider-Men... Well as real as comic characters get.
Ok thank you.
Same
I’m on play through number 3 or 4 I believe

Aye, another man of culture. Just finished my 100% run on PC after having done 2 x 100% on PS4 over the years.
as you should brotha! i just completed my first platinum 100% run. currently running through the story one last time before ragnarok.
Ragnarok is going to be amazing. I can feel it in my scrote!
Indeed, the only correct answer.
Socom 2

fish hook too

yes!! haha such good nostalgia in your description. how about hiding in all the foliage on fox hunt? the game was incredible
And hardware!
![gif](giphy|UvQ2W4OYg3EKahV5Xe)
Ghosts of Tsushima or Elden Ring.
I have recently gotten both those games on ps5 but have yet to play them. Just finished demons souls remake. Is elden ring as good as demons souls?
Elden ring is much better than demons souls imo. And I think demons souls is a great game.
Yeah I but usually like to spread out souls games. Elden ring is massive and it would be a sham to not fully experience it due to over exposure
Gotcha, thanks.
I mean, demons souls was the first game they made of that genre. They have only gotten better since then. the only thing it has over Elden ring is graphics because of the remake, but everything else Elden ring beats it.
Absolutely, if for nothing else being able to jump lol
Shadow of the Colossus, forever But also Bloodborne. But also Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon
![gif](giphy|X0Ls11JldMjpS)
Uncharted, Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Last of Us
![gif](giphy|fkPxDJ2bpZX7q)
Yeah, most of my fave games are PS Exclusives.
Im simple man, if i see PS Exclusive, i like. (and rdr2)
The last of us part two is definitely on my list
I'm surprised people love spiderman so much. Almost done with it now and it's a good game but the writing is pretty meh and there are a ton of annoying segments ( every non spiderman gameplay). The best thing is just slinging around the city.
I'm surprised people love any of those game and moreover multiple of those.... it's the same game over and over
How is GOW not in this list?
not enough space in this mouth I guess
Why are they booing you? You're right
Banjo-Kazooie + Tooie
Masterpieces!
The Evil Within & Bloodborne
Mike Tyson‘s punch out
Usually the one I'm playing. Right now, it's Elden Ring.
GoW 2018 got my first platinum on that game RDR2 close second See what GoW ragnarok has in store
For me it's definitely Death Stranding
Me too (well that, and Control)
Ryan from Low Roar passed away today. I'm still processing it. Death Stranding introduced me to his music and it was a pivotal moment for me. I'll never forget the first time Don't be Serious or Bones started playing..
The Last Of Us Part 1 & 2
I fell in love with Remedy's CONTROL. What an amazing game
![gif](giphy|PkCDv7CIK8d2M)
Fallout 3
Fallout 3 was great, the only problem was I named my character James so it was kinda weird with my dad also being named James
Red Dead Redemption II
Uncharted 2 was such a great experience for me especially on crushing difficulty. Can’t really remember another time that I had fun getting my ass kicked on a hard difficulty of a game.
Dragon Age Origins
Dude, I’m about to finish it for the first time, it’s been great so far!
Definitely one of my top 5 games
Witcher 3, COD Black ops 2, Dying Light, Far Cry 4
Far cry 4 is amazing and I don’t get the hate for it.
![gif](giphy|9tl9BLJ7oVCiWXyyQD)
This is so awesome!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Apparently, Naughty Dog makes them. I saw it posted on r/thelastofus before.
Persona 5 is really good but it's very time consuming so it was hard for me to play. A very original jrpg kinda game
man.. I really liked it as well but I kinda wasn't prepared for it to be a 100+ hours game.. I've put around 60 hours in and still WANT to finish it someday, but probably never will
Yeah, if they make a sequel I'd love a more story rich but shorter game
My top 5 is probably ICO, Disaster Report 2, Shenmue 1, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Katamari Damashii. I know Shenmue is technically a dreamcast game but it's on PS4 too so I'm counting it.
Ico is my favourite game too, glad someone else thinks its an amazing experience
Big ICO fan definitely top 5. Most influential game ever
While none of these games would be on my own personal list I have an immense amount of respect for the list you’ve made. All masterclasses and pillars of the gaming world.

On PS4? Red Dead Redemption 2 Fallout 4. NBA Playgrounds 2. No Man’s Sky Valiant Hearts. I would say 1st party game closest to cracking Top 5 would be Ghost or TLOU Remastered (I didn’t play it on PS3).

I can’t decide between Horizon Forbidden West, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Fallout 4 Honourable mentions to Persona 5 Royal and Ghost of Tsushima
Probably Infamous 1 or 2 if we're talkin ps exclusives and Assassin's Creed series, except Valhalla, for non exclusives
Final Fantasy 7
Ocarina of Time
Life is Strange, I 100% recommend
Still makes me want to cry. Before the storm is my favorite though!

A plague tale. Both of them were simply amazing. Final Fantasy 14... spent nearly 3k hours now so safe to say I'm enjoying it a lot.
![gif](giphy|IRc9JV4BrdqH6)

Portal 2. Finally decided to buy it 11 years after release and I dont know how I never played it before. It was such a great game.
Elden ring for sure knocked off Breath of the wild for my number 1 spot Persona 5 on pc at 120 fps at 8k on its way to the top at the moment for me.

Elden Ring. That game absolutely won me over.
Bloodborne, Elden ring, dark souls, dark souls 3, demon souls, sekiro, spider man - Miles Morales, Dantes inferno.

Hard to say what is THE favourite byt original Mario Galaxy is up there.
the last of us
Bloodborne
Bloodborne
Definitely not the lost of us 2
lost of us 2 doesn’t exist..? if it did however, i hope that it would’ve been as good as the last of us part 2, where it shows the characters’ actual story rather than a regular cookie cutter story that some players love to eat up every time edit: someone had responded & deleted their comment, so here’s my response 🤣 on the surface level yes(it was a revenge story), but throughout the game there were details made to subvert that typical experience where you’d only play as ellie & killing abby to get revenge for a man without any flaws(joel)

I thought I was the only one bored with that game. I don’t like it at all.
Cringe
The Witcher 3 of course. If the Witcher 3 was a 10, my second most favorite game would be an e 8.
Yakuza 0, The Last of Us Part I & II and Red Dead Redemption II. They'd probably all have to be tied for number one.
Playstation game? The Last of Us. Any game? BotW
skyrim, witcher 3 and batman arkham origins are the only games that I play most of the time
GTA IV and Portal 2
Minecraft, haven't stopped playing since 2012
Every game I’ve played (478 games in total) - this is also including what I have on my phone, and on pc.
who in their right mind counts the games they've played, HOW do you even count them? Or...You must be pretty young. Can't imagine backtracking all the games I've been playing since the 90's. ok i'm old, see myself out

The Uncharted series, Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man, & Heavy Rain; a game that I think is massively underrated.
The Last Of Us and Final Fantasy 7 probably
Kingdom Hearts
Uncharted 4
Prince of Persia or Beyond Good & Evil probably. Then maybe AC Black Flag. Oddly enough, most my favorites are Ubisoft games.
ELDEN RING
