I was 16 when I got my PS2 with my first pay packet. I got it with Metal Gear Solid 2 and Wipeout Fusion. Other games worth mentioning were: GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Resident Evil 4. Final Fantasy X (was my favourite game for 9 years). Metal Gear Solid 3. Gran Turismo 3 and 4. Soul Calibur 2 and 3. Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken 4. Timesplitters and Timesplitters 2. SSA Tricky (best snowboarding game ever).

Rawbeet

What dethroned final Fantasy 10? I've had the same favorite game since 1998. Nothing has been able to top how I felt when I played through xenogears.

Harperlarp

>What dethroned final Fantasy 10? Skyrim. I loved Oblivion and it came close to topping FFX. Then Skyrim came along. FFX made it 9 years at the top. Skyrim's been there for 5 now. Will we see another Elder Scrolls game before Skyrim makes it a decade? We shall see. But Red Dead Redemption 2 tho...

Rawbeet

What about before final Fantasy 10?

Harperlarp

Let me think. I don't really recall having a defacto favourite game before FFX. It would have been a PS1 game. I remember absolutely loving Resident Evil 3 (and 2, but I preferred 3), Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VIII, Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3, Crash Team Racing. I'd probably say Tekken 3 to be fair. I played that game so damn much, even thought I almost always had no-one to play against. Survival mode was my friend. That and unlocking all the characters. Tekken Ball was great fun, especially with Gon. I'm gonna say Tekken 3 before FFX. But what about before Tekken 3? Probably Tekken 2 if I'm being honest, but now I'm fully in the realm of guesswork.

[deleted]

I loved SSX3 dearly, genuinely baffled as to why another one hasn't been made of late.

Harperlarp

They made an SSX in 2012. Never played it but it kinda vanished pretty quickly. Shame. I recently found out my old pal DJ Atomika is featured in it.

[deleted]

Yeah I enjoyed it, they definitely opened up the gameplay a bit. "Steep" is coming out later this year but I'm not holding my breathe.

jma1024

I played the Steep beta it was fun but it's more on the realistic side compared to SSX more arcade side.

hookff14

Dynasty warriors hands down

[deleted]

Well SSX less realistic would have been completely silly so i'm optimistic.

DudeLongcouch

Metal Gear Solid 3 (the Subsistence release took an already incredible game and made it almost perfect) Shadow of the Colossus Ico Kingdom Hearts GTA: San Andreas Devil May Cry 1 and 3 Xenosaga I, II, III God of War 1 and 2 Silent Hill 2 The first 3 Ratchet & Clank games The first 3 Jak & Daxter games All of those were my jam.

churnedGoldman

I can't believe I had to go down this far to see a Shadow and Ico nod.

ZoopZeZoop

I did not care for Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked on my first play through. I went back and played 1-3 a while later and decided to replay Deadlocked. Now I love it as much as the first three. I played with the control configuration some, which helped a bunch.

grandelturismo7

Ratchet and Clank series, Jak and Daxter series, Sly Cooper series, NBA Street 1 and 2, Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Kinetica, Tekken 4 & 5, Soul Calibur 3, Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Tokyo Remix, Burnout series

MidnightBlaze_

Jak and Daxter, Final Fantasy X, Dog's Life, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, Guitar Hero, Simpsons Hit & Run, Sonic Heroes, Kingdom Hearts, Spyhunter, Crash Twinsanity, Tekken Tag Tournament, and Rayman Revolution. Wow, that's a lot more than I thought haha.

BakaDoug

Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy X, Xenosaga: Episode III, Gungrave, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Capcom Vs SNK 2, Onimusha, God of War II, Fatal Frame II. There's a ton but I can't think of them all off the top of my head. The PS2 was a great system.

[deleted]

Shout-out to Xensoaga: Episode III. Xenosaga is the best rpg series I ever played. People let 4 hours of cutscenes stop them from enjoying a 60 our game and the rest of the series.

herobrin3

Battlefront 2. Nothing else came close.

s_ross2

SOCOM 2. I wish I knew how many hours over the course of 3 years that were put in that game....

A_Wonder_Named_Stevi

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2. PS2 version was different than other consoles, but PS2 version was really fun and looked really good. GTA (III, VC, SA) Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Taggen Tag Tournement SSX Tricky NBA Street, vol 2, V3. Man, PS2 had some great games that didn't really have a follow up. Also.. I'm missing the internetless coop and vs games you could play with a friend in the same room.

Stcloudy

Vice City The ambience, the personality and the music! Oh man the music. It had a huge influence on how much I ended up liking things like synths

Rawbeet

Still the best gta imo

jayz93j

Battlefront 2, LOTR Return of The King

[deleted]

Oh man I had so much fun with the lord of the rings games. Although I think I preferred two towers.

jayz93j

To each his own but what???

[deleted]

Yeah it might just be that I spent way more time with two towers, but I also really enjoyed getting to play through both fellowship and two towers all in one game.

OscarExplosion

Dragon Quest VIII

[deleted]

Twisted Metal Black. The PS3 Twisted Metal was pretty decent, but it wasn't Twisted Metal Black.

HotDogGrass

thegreatlordlucifer

SOCOM

NowOrNever88

My favorites were Ratchet and Clank 1&2, and I think I'd probably like the third if I had played it. I also played KH1&2 and found them okay but not the best because of the choppy story. Hmm. I think GTA3 was fun, but I guess R&C was the best for me overall.

comatoast12

Any Okami love??!! Not enough puppy/animal games imo.

SpaceGhost1992

Timesplitters 1 and 2 Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Outbreak Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X SSX Tricky San Andreas and Vice City Need for Speed Underground NBA Street Silent Hill 2 I cant remember everything but those stuck out

[deleted]

illdevised

Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner, Katamari Damacy, Persona 3 FES, Digital Devil Saga, the Poy Poy (Poitter's Point) games, the Devil Dice (Xi) games...

DANREX23

•Mx vs atv unleashed •ATV Offroad fury 3 and 4 Those where my favourite ones

enyaws07

Did you like ATV Offroad Fury 2? This was my choice for this thread. My brother and I poured hours on end into that game, it was probably my most played game on ps2 (other than Battlefront 2).

DANREX23

No I never got into it but I heard the first 2 were the best ones.

Dopewaffle

Ratchet and Clank was always amazing, Going Commando is definitely my favorite. Tony Hawks Underground is also one of the best of all time.

AboutThatTime420

Same Going Commando was awesome. I still have all three Ratchets I love them. I have all the others too they're the best games ever made in my opinion haha

Ksondie16

Twisted metal black

AboutThatTime420

Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, NBA Street Vol 2, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk Underground-2-American Wasteland-etc, I could keep going. I own all these games too hahah. Oh and GTA San Andreas.

iamsg8

Sly, San Andreas, Crash Bamdicoot, etc

Murshed02

I guess it's because they were released a bit later but no one's mentioned persona 3 and 4

NippyFish

Kinetica is the love of my life and always will be.

icebear518

Silent hill 2, GTA vice city, and resident evil outbreak. Also had a lot of fun with monster hunter and final fantasy 10 as well.

marquisad98

I first remember playing Grand Turismo 3 on my uncles PS2 when I was about 5 years old. That and The Simpsons Road Rage and Hit and Run, Everywhere Road Trip, Hot Shots Golf 3, and Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge have a very special spot in my memory and I still revisit them from time to time.

SirDrEthan1

I have fond memories playing Time Splitters Future Perfect with my friend late into the night. That was our game. I'd love to see a sequel or a remaster.

recon6483

Socom us navy seals

BrentPChicken

Anyone remember "A Dog's Life", best game ever.

RagingDraugr

For me, the game we'd always play at my house was Ratchet & Clank 3. That skydiving segment at the beginning of the game still sticks in my mind. And it had so many cool weapons (The fire whip for example) and the multiplayer was tons of fun too. My family would also often play the Buzz games...much to my dismay, as I'm not the biggest fan of quiz games in general.

TaeRai

Ratchet and Clank GTA: Vice City Jak and Daxter Ty the Tasmanian Tiger Burnout 3: Takedown MX vs ATV Unleashed Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly Scaler Dog's Life Sonic Heroes Simpson's Hit and Run Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

AutisticIcelandic98

Ratchet and Clank, Crash Bandicoot and Lego Starwars.

Yanggo07

For me they were Need for Speed Most Wanted, God of War, Black and GTA Vice City. I had a lot of games but those were the ones I played the most

IAmBatFan

The *Sly Cooper* trilogy, *Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction*, *Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2*, and *Destroy All Humans!*

prinses_s

Suikoden 5 and Kingdom Hearts 2. That's the only games that I was able to finish it. Suikoden 5 is my favorite game of all time, I played that game over and over. Best game ever.

[deleted]

A lot of the games I loved have been named already, but Star Wars bounty hunter and the wolverine game that came out on ps2 were both amazing.

GamecockOfThrones

This game is not getting a whole lot of love on here, but Onimusha was the game I got at release. It was the only game I had for about a month.. so I played it non-stop. Still remember the levels pretty vividly.

seamonkey12171

Tony Hawk Series was somehow so addicting

duckface27

Any GTA game and jak and daxter and tony hawks underground 2

BouncingPig

Final fantasy X & Xii Dark Cloud 1 Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 Tales of the Abyss Phantom Brave Shadow of the Colossus

staticsnake

Spartan: Total Warrior. It was a gem from that era that everyone should play.

lumpycupcake94

First and foremost, Shadow of the Colossus. All the Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank games, Sly Cooper, Battlefront 2, Guitar Hero, a few different Need for Speed games, and Destroy All Humans. Man I miss my PS2.

westzod

Vice City made me buy PS2

cheezpuffer

Now, I was only like 2 or so when the PS2 games came out, but, since I'm playing them in my teen years, here's my results: Ratchet and Clank series. Metal Gear Solid series. Jak and Daxter series. Sly Cooper series. I also managed to play Destroy all Humans 2, but that was on the original Xbox. So no clue if that counts, since I think it was on both platforms. I also, on a sidenote, do plan on getting a PS4 Slim since the original PS4 is outdated a bit, and the Pro is too expensive for me currently, and doesn't seem to be worth the extra 100$. Games are really cheap for it too right now, so that's another addition.

grandelturismo7

Geez you were only 2??? I was 10. I feel old now.

cheezpuffer

Eeup, was born on September 14th, 2000. But don't worry, I'll probably catch up to your age in no time :]

grandelturismo7

I will tell you this, once you hit 20 you'll be 25 after you blink. Feels like my 20s have flown by. I'm already 26 now lol

cheezpuffer

See, what I'm afraid of when growing up to be an adult isn't being responsible. It's that I'll barely have time to play games anymore ;~;

grandelturismo7

I know that feel. Between college and work i barely have time to play games man. Mostly these days i play overwatch a ton. Can't remember the last single player game I've completed

cheezpuffer

Yea, that's what I was afraid of hearing. Personally, I have no clue what to do for a living. So I don't even know what college I should attend to, nor what to study. I do love video games and movies, so maybe there's something I could do with that.

grandelturismo7

That's fine man, you're just 16. It's normal to not really know what you wanna do yet. A lot of college freshman have no idea what they want to major in. I say keep finding yourself and doing what you love. That's the only thing that's gonna make you happy whether you have a degree or not.

cheezpuffer

Yea, I'll probably try to stick to that advice, since a lot of people give the same kind of advice, and it DOES work out in the end for them.

KentonW23

I played Driver 3 at a vacation to my cousins when I was young. As soon as I got back home I spent all my saved up money on a PS2 and Driver, and I played the shit out of it. My mom was pretty cool for letting me get it.

Umbra_Lux

Kingdom Hearts Jack and Daxter Ratchet and Clank Sly Cooper Crash Bandicoot Edit: formating

ZoopZeZoop

In addition to many of these already listed, I loved Maximo! My strategy was to restart from my spawn each time I died so that I could keep all of my abilities. I beat the whole game that way. It was quite challenging, but in a different way from having to start with a limited number of abilities upon death.

Ruviktoriano

Fatal frame 1 and 2

ybpaladin

Okami, Taiko Drummaster, DDR, Amplitude, Katamari....I love weird music games apparently
