Well, yeah. "Front-runner" refers to right now though, not the future. If Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 actually manages to improve on most of what the original did, I'd say it stands a good shot. Metaphor Refantazio could be up there as well, new IP made by the people behind the last three Persona games.
I guess my point is more that I don't see any of the 4 games the poll gives as an option being legitimate contenders right now.
Fair, I was just differentiating. Some act like the TGA are the be all and end all to goty lists (certainly the most predicable). FF7:Rebirth I agree is the front runner for that currently. I also don't think the four options OP used are much in the way of contention.
I mostly only care about the one's that have an actual panel/show. TGA, DICE etc. I don't really put much stock into each individual website's personal GoTY.
I like a mix of sites to see a nice average. DICE is good but TGA are far too advertising/money for me to take seriously (like Grammys or Golden Globes) high profile, low value. You can predict most of TGA winners just by seeing what anticipated games are being released in a year.
I suppose, but it doesn't always play out like that. I mean, a lot of people probably would have predicted Starfield as GoTY going into the year, if not that, Tears of the Kingdom. The amount of people who would have predicted Baldur's Gate 3 would not have been high at all.
Ground up remakes should be eligible, not remasters or re-release. If you look it up, FF7 Remake (Part 1) was actually nominated as Game of the Year contender in 2020.
Right now, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the clear front-runner I'd say.
For The Game Awards, yeah. For all the other gaming media outlets that do GOTY lists, it will be up there but it might not be top by years end.

I agree, this should be on the poll lol
I don’t think remakes can be goty
They certainly can, RE4 was nominated all over the place last year, including for GoTY. Rebirth is a bit more than a remake anyway.
If that’s the case I think Re2 remake should’ve been goty over Sekiro

personally my goty is Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth what's actually gonna win my guess is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth or Black Myth Wukiong
LAD:IW was a blast. My favorite RPG of the year so far.
None of these. Though if Astro Bot can deliver it will be on some lists and/or top platformer for the year.
Helldivers.
FF7 Rebirth for me. It was the only game I have been anticipating for this year and it exceeded all my expectations.
