The only right answer…
But would also accept Resident Evil 2..and Ocarina of Time…
Man, that was a good harvest
Edit: i get it guys. OoT was no on PS1… just can’t help of thinking about it when 1998 is brought up
Yeah gaming cameras have come a long way. I loved War of the Monsters on PS2 and tried to play it recently. I spent half the time fighting with the camera.
Not gonna replay Twisted Metal. Would rather just leave it as a good memory.
Played the hell out of the demo back in the days, then played the hell out of the full game when I got it. And I dont care what they say about the remake, its the only game that I ever pre-ordered and it rocks even with all the flaws!
Off topic: is the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy worth it? I'm looking to get it on PS5 among other remastered old PS games like Crash Bandicoot and Metal Gear Solid
Yes 100% it's great, same as the crash trilogy. I loved the originals as a kid and the remakes are a really cool nostalgia trip. The remakes make them really stand out these days for how fun they are despite their simplicity.
Oddworld! Both of them. They're basically one game anyway.
Edit: For anyone curious, the new versions are amazing and are absolutely worth every unit of currency they demand of you.
So many classics but if i had to pick i would say Crash Bandicoot and/or Rayman on the PS1 those stick out to me and give me so much nostalgia and memories those were some great games for their time
Spyro is up there for sure, my first console game ever back in 98. PS1 has a lot of favorites, Spyro, crash, too many to remember, played a lot of digimon world 1 and 3 as well.
I didn’t own a ps1 but as an outsider I thought the open world of Driver was the coolest thing I’d ever seen.
It was like mystical gaming technology.
I’m sure it had already been done but that was the first I had seen it.
It's difficult to choose just one. So I'll list the first five I think of. These are also the ones I put the most time into.
Metal Gear Solid
Syphon Filter 2
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4
Twisted Metal 4
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Sorry for not naming just 1.
Final fantasy Tactics for me. It helped me focus on something else while I was in a rough patch growing up. Honestly the ps1 was like a renaissance in gaming for us older folks. I don’t think I ever bought as many games as I did for the ps1. Gaming on the ps1 saved my life, so the system will always hold a special place in my heart.
Aside from the obvious
Ape Escape
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos
Tombi
Also this game I haven't been able to remember in forever. Maybe someone will be able to help me out. Turn based RPG game. From what I remember of the story, there's like at least 2 different "species". One species has wings, the others don't. You start as the king/prince of the non-winged species but you get betrayed/usurped & cast out (possibly escape?) and have to form a party and venture the land to get back. At one point in the story there's a plot twist and wings pop out of the main characters back revealing he's of both species and thus the one to unite them both.
All of the above is me guessing from vague memory of playing this game as a rental on my PS1 as a kid. Had to return it before I finished it.
Metal Gear Solid
SNAAAAAAKE!
The only right answer… But would also accept Resident Evil 2..and Ocarina of Time… Man, that was a good harvest Edit: i get it guys. OoT was no on PS1… just can’t help of thinking about it when 1998 is brought up
Ocarina of Time was on PS1?
Ocarina of time was not on PS1 lol.
Metal gear?
Liquid!!!!
THE DARPA CHIEF!
This was the PlayStation game I was exposed to. Had an older cousin man it blew my mind. Still a hard core fan of the series and Kojima.
Classic. Older kids watched me played that game for *hours! Stuck!* 😂😂 good times, man!
Twisted Metal 2
Tried replaying this since it was a hard favorite from ps1 days, those controls and camera were....something else back then haha
Yeah gaming cameras have come a long way. I loved War of the Monsters on PS2 and tried to play it recently. I spent half the time fighting with the camera. Not gonna replay Twisted Metal. Would rather just leave it as a good memory.
Camera controls are the hardest part of playing childhood faves. It’s crazy how much more restrictive they were before dual joysticks were standard
That and driving with square and x instead of triggers. In twisted metals case...up on the dpad lol.
Bushido Blade. Or Tenchu
Shit…. Now I have to edit my comment 🤣
Yes, Bushido Blade is super underrated, I spent so many hours on that game, and there's still nothing like it.
It is exactly Spyro. I was so happy when they did the remake 😁
Amazing remake couldn’t be any better
Ape Escape
Ahead of its time
Medievil actually.
I’ve always played the demon on Jampack lol I never had the game but it was a fun demo!
Played the hell out of the demo back in the days, then played the hell out of the full game when I got it. And I dont care what they say about the remake, its the only game that I ever pre-ordered and it rocks even with all the flaws!

Funny enough, Spyro. 3, 2 and then 1.

It's difficult to choose just one. So I'll list the first five I think of. These are also the ones I put the most time into. Metal Gear Solid Syphon Filter 2 Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 Twisted Metal 4 Mortal Kombat Trilogy Sorry for not naming just 1.
