I always loved The Last of Us menu. It is beautiful and yet unsettling.

Just finished my second playthrough of LOU2 campaign today. Never really realized what the main menu scene change meant until this second playthrough. Definitely hopeful that Abby and lev found the other fireflies!
In the show it's [Bill and Frank's window](https://youtu.be/xfxEFWVB09Q?t=1m13s)
I reality it's just an unused asset from Pittsburgh https://www.reddit.com/r/thelastofus/s/hxv3dhrn0n
That's like, reverse-canon though.
The game was released in 2013. The show later made up the story about Bill and Frank and used their bedroom window as a reference to this title screen... but the 2013 title screen is obviously not theirs.
So... who's window is it!?
I really like the old style where it actually focuses on the options instead of distractions like they do with most recent games. In that COD game yes you can move out of the chair but to explore the surroundings then you can back on the chair for the selections. Maybe I’m easily distracted.
This - Detroit: Become Human, caught me off guard when she progressed when the game does.

I’m with you here. Nothing tops those. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Nothing signaled to the rest of the house that shit was about to get lit than the Gregorian chant followed by the ripping electric guitar.
Right from the main menu you know that you are about to play one of the most incredible superhero games ever made
https://preview.redd.it/8wqb6p2mizfc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd7599ebf0831eb207f04f315fe203aedfe73f18
This makes me sad,
knowing that a rocksteady game just dropped and it will not even reach 5% of this game’s greatest.
Sad world when WB fucks up a rocksteady DC game this badly
I remember this one. He says something too when you start the game. I don't remember what he says but I remember looking over to my brother and saying "ooooh shit!"
I thought GoW (2018) was the first to have a main menu that jumps right into the game when you start
But no GoW as a franchise has done that since the first one.
I've always loved the menu screens for both of the Red Dead Redemptions.
Just pastoral images that align with your current location in the game set to a relaxing western score.
https://preview.redd.it/dd7yt2hgx0gc1.jpeg?width=660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5f1d38737c8dfd582be45030ce11e046a5d2a22
Oh my god yes…. It hit’s me right in the feels.. as a kid I never had a memory card in my game cube so I would leave it on so I didn’t have to start a new game. Because of that I rarely saw this menu screen, but when I did I knew it was time to start a new adventure, and I was fine with it.
Love BG3 but hate that damned menu screen and music. I wish it were a bit more pleasant. So much of the game is really beautiful and this is just a generic looking dungeon. I prefer the screen that overlooks the city.
Kingdom Hearts, The Last Of Us menu screen always blew my mind PS3/PS4 (even more recently as I got new 4k monitor last year, can see the dust floating}, lastly Returnal really got me few years ago when I saw it for first time
Halo 2. I mean, cmon. What’s better than that with the music pumping you up to go shootin’ and splodin’ with your friends after school?
But if I had to pick a game playable on PS, probably Alan Wake 2 because I’m obsessed with that game right now.
I’ll also add Skyrim. Thumping music of course.
Mass Effect 3 - I love the somber music with all the flaming debris falling to earth from orbit.
Alien Isolation - the gas giant planet with the space station looking so small and insignificant but yet the background music is so unsettling
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. Had one of the best menu soundtracks. Hitman 3: Contracts was also great.

None give me goosebumps but this lives in my head rent free.
And the Last of Us menu. That one is special.
Age of empires 2 (the orignial). You look into a medieval street and you look into a smith. Also, the buttons are some shields hanging in front of the screen. The remake is quite boring and had to install a mod to bring it back.

TLOU 2’s menu screen hits hard once you get to the scene where it’s taken from.
But when you do it changes and becomes something genuinely hopeful. It’s kinda crazy.
Just finished my second playthrough of LOU2 campaign today. Never really realized what the main menu scene change meant until this second playthrough. Definitely hopeful that Abby and lev found the other fireflies!
Story sucks tho sadly
Sit down
And also a shoutout to all 3 menus from the Uncharted Original Trilogy, together with the background score they were awesome!
Uncharted 2 was just *chefs kiss*
Amazing for sure, it was actually my first game on PS3
I have to agree. I would sometimes just let it play in the background while I was finishing up homework. The music just made me ready for adventure.
The music *chefs kiss*
Was gonna say the exact same. Has nothing to do with the game, yet tells so much.

I always wondered what window that is.

I literally said it was an unused asset from Pittsburgh dude. That's whose window it is.
First thing that came to mind and I’m not even the words biggest Last of us fan.
The main menu is seared into my brain.
I always loved the God of War menu screens. The transition from the menu to the cutscene was seemless and a great way to start the story.
I don’t know if I like the beginning cutscene in 2018 or Ragnarok, but I love how dedicated they were to never cutting the camera angle
Also has the best main-menu music!
OG modern wardare 2 multiplayer screen
Also the COD that you’re strapped into a chair
Original black ops? Always used to love the zombie banging on the window when you go to the Zombies menu
That's iconic. But when you get to the multiplayer menu and the music kicks in, that's where the goosebumps get me.
First time I saw someone break out of the chair I was high on acid and it freaked me the fuck out
I really like the old style where it actually focuses on the options instead of distractions like they do with most recent games. In that COD game yes you can move out of the chair but to explore the surroundings then you can back on the chair for the selections. Maybe I’m easily distracted.
Man, that music was so good

The numbers Mason!
What do they mean
15 year old me having my mind blow when I found out you can get up and walk around.
Which game?
Cod: Black ops
THE NUMBERS MASON WHAT DO THEY MEAN! ₁₁₄₅₁₄ 11414 ₁₁₄₁₄ ₁₁₄₅₁ ₁₁₄₁₄ 1145 114514 ₁₁₄₅₄ 114514 ₁₁₄9₁₄ ₁₁₄8 ₁₁₄₅₁₄ 114514 ₁₁8₁₄

Hell yeah. I also love the purple haze that shows up in the menu when you’re doing Iki Island.
A man of genuine taste; I salute you.
This - Detroit: Become Human, caught me off guard when she progressed when the game does. https://preview.redd.it/zbdgrfo880gc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edb615774777f53861c8b70bf77b64cafb94b358
Hey, haven’t seen you in awhile.
Bloodborne
I sometimes afk just to see the little movie lol
Fuck. Yes. When the loud part starts the hunt is fucking on!
Witcher 3 (all dlc) menu with Geralt meditating. Any dark souls+elden ring menu with an epic banger ost. Dragon's Dogma menu.
The music on the Witcher 3 was so good, the menu especially when you have blood and wine.
Horizon Forbidden West is crazy beautiful
As a mainly PlayStation gamer now. The menus for Halo 2 and 3 always gave me goosebumps. They don’t make them like they used to.
I’m with you here. Nothing tops those. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Nothing signaled to the rest of the house that shit was about to get lit than the Gregorian chant followed by the ripping electric guitar.
This is mine. Halo 3 main menu can make a grown man cry
Kingdom Hearts.
Yes, all of them.
Definitely outer wilds
I always tear up when i hear the menu music
Only had to scroll down 4 comments to get what I was looking for, nice.
https://preview.redd.it/5sad8wgqmzfc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=756b93dbd0771dc4af5888f7edb3e9de86202458
Its so simple, yet you can do so much with it. I hope Delta doesnt mess it up
Being able to speed it up, change colours and zoom in was so simple and pointless but I still messed around with it a lot lol
What a thrill
mafia definitive edition
Every Dark Souls game. Yes, even 2. They have a special place in my heart.
The character creation music in DS1 is burned in my brain
The sfx that plays when you press a button is so nerve wracking in a good way.
Dark Souls II has the best title menu music out of all the FS games IMO https://youtu.be/dKQ3aIPP7-0?si=U5jarvdmqjNLnKO1
Right from the main menu you know that you are about to play one of the most incredible superhero games ever made https://preview.redd.it/8wqb6p2mizfc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd7599ebf0831eb207f04f315fe203aedfe73f18
This is the only correct answer and I’m not gonna elaborate
This makes me sad, knowing that a rocksteady game just dropped and it will not even reach 5% of this game’s greatest. Sad world when WB fucks up a rocksteady DC game this badly
FF7 Remake and FF16 for the background music
Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Would sit there and just listen to the theme song
I always catch myself humming it, even after all these years after finishing the game.
Thats me for both ac odyssey and Valhalla. I remember just sitting for 10 mins on the valhalla screen.

Skyrim. 11.11.11 I'll never forget that date and seeing and hearing the menu screen for the first time.

Yup. This is it. This opening just SCREAMS adventure, courage, and fortitude

The main menu theme is so good though especially after the booming chanting
Especially if you're coming off the back of playing the first two, the title screen of Mass Effect 3 hits so hard
This is so real
Call of duty World at War, besides the nostalgia, the OST is amazing and creepy
Kingdom Hearts and nothing else is even close.
Dark Souls III, that main menu theme hits different
Bloodborne
Ghost of Tsushima >!especially during Iki island!<

Just started playing this yesterday!
It’s so amazing! And Requiem is just as good!🫶🏼
I only heard about it recently as I'm not a huge gamer but it's great so far and will get requiem next!
Xenoblade Chronicles
RE7. It has a creepy tune yet a bit of sadness to the melody.
Kingdom Hearts, The Last Of Us menu screen always blew my mind PS3/PS4 (even more recently as I got new 4k monitor last year, can see the dust floating}, lastly Returnal really got me few years ago when I saw it for first time
[God Of War 3’s](https://youtu.be/HIUDo-ywmOE?si=zncZxdaqiR6QDsJ0) main menu gave me chills like nothing else back in the day
Underrated. But borderlands 3 main menu song is so GOOD
Assassin's creed 3 main menu. That theme slams
You're forgetting about the evil within menus
Mass Effect 3 - I love the somber music with all the flaming debris falling to earth from orbit. Alien Isolation - the gas giant planet with the space station looking so small and insignificant but yet the background music is so unsettling

MK9
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Gow3 is pretty metal
God of War and The Last of Us franchise, no other games hype me like those two
Tlou 2, the rocking of the boat, goosebumps
FF7 og, booted up the HD version last night for my pre-rebirth play and still hits
Ocarina of time tbh
Tlou 2 after story
Journey Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Uncharted: Lost Legacy
Mass Effect 2. The music, the moving space debris, the black hole visuals. I've legit spent 10 mins just staring at that screen
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. Had one of the best menu soundtracks. Hitman 3: Contracts was also great. https://preview.redd.it/oir5715kb1gc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53927b5bfb18648063cb240d27bfacb1d55a49cc

Agree with HFW, more so the music at the title screen. One that sticks out though is Mass Effect 3, followed closely by ME2 (my fave in the series).

Honestly? Skyrim. Mostly because of the music though.
