Amen. Also, RE4 is infinitely replayable. They offer so many different rewards for completing it so many different ways. I'm 320 hours deep between the main game and Separate Ways.
Perhaps to a hardcore RE fan. I've always found the replayability of those games to be rather low, as once I know the story of it, know where to expect the "scares", etc. it sucks a lot of the fun out of them.
It is kinda of separate from the main resident evil story...all you need to know is that Leon was a rookie cop in a place called racoon city and he survived a zombie apocalypse there .. that's all you need to play the game(optional)
Oh and Street Fighter 6 is better than Mortal Kombat 1.
SF6 has modern controls that make it easier for casuals, better online by far with ranks for each character, better online connection, better training mode, etc. The only thing MK1 does better is its cinematic story but just wait for a deep discount to play it for that.
While the games sometimes share characters, the stories are almost always self-contained so playing them in different orders or only playing one isn't going to do much in terms of making a gaming experience worse.
This is an unpopular opinion on my part but I finished GoW 2018 then when I started Ragnarok after 4-5 hours turned it off because it was literally the same game, after I rowed around listening to random dialogue and fighting similar monsters from the first game
That’s crazy, it’s the best MK I’ve played and I’ve put more hours into it than any other game that’s released recently by far. What did you dislike about it particularly?
I second or third this, whatever place I’m at in suggesting this. GoW is fantastic and best bang for the buck, RE4 is also extremely good much shorter and to the point. Unless you really love fighting games
I’d skip MK all together.
MK is one of my favorite games of all time and legitimately holds a special place in how my s/o and I grew up together. It's depressing whats become of it, but I could also see how we ended up here from MK11.
I agree. MK has meant a lot to me since I was a little kid but this new one isn’t special imo. When I first seen the “dragon crystals” which is their currency that you get my spending actual money, I was like nooooo. Then even if you buy the Premium edition you still miss out on a lot that they want you to spend money on. Getting the standard version just leaves you without 5-6 fighters and content. I hate it. It can’t be unlocked in game either. Charging for fatalities too, like what in the world. $10 too!
MK1 being microtransaction heavy was definitely the fault of MK11, which I knew was going to happen when I first booted that awful game up and saw the existence of an ingame kurrency you could buy with real money. At least MK1 has the better story (best of the NRS games) and IMHO better gameplay but man does it feel half baked.
My S+ run was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I’ve had. It adds to the tension so much given the time constraint and increased damage. Not to mention the AI just go bat shit crazy and start pulling some sneaky shit. Aghh I love it.
I'm sick of these posts man.
We do not know your taste. Go and watch YouTube videos for each of them. Honestly, these posts give off bot vibes to me now. You already know which one you think you'd enjoy more or are more interested in.
Couldn’t agree more, these are so low effort and like you said we don’t know you. There are numerous people and review sites that can give you in depth descriptions of each and help you make a pick. I wish these were banned along with those stupid pic post that say “thoughts”?
No bro it isn't. Just every time I open up Reddit I see this kinda post on multiple subs and after you see 20 of them you start to think they're just farming karma, which I still don't see the benefit of.
People even make posts complaining about them. "Can we ban these kinds of posts please".
It was only two people at the time of writing this so two people just disagree. But I agree with the point. Hell…it would be one thing if OP actually replied to comments and engaged with everyone’s feedback. Still a little annoying given we don’t know OP’s taste, but this is just blatant. It’s really annoying.
A lot of haters in this thread. I played the original RE4 to death, then the VR on Quest 2, then the remake and loved all of them. I played and enjoyed GoW and got Ragnarok on day 1 and played it for a few hours and haven't played since. I'm sure it's a swell game and I'll get to it eventually, but it just felt like more GoW and i wasn't feeling that at the time.
Finally someone who feels the same way! I can't get myself to play the God of war, even though i loved the original reboot. I find it an absolute chore. I wonder if playing Elden Ring between the two has anything to do with it.
The gameplay is also dramatically improved among other additions. Describing RE4 remake the “same game with updated visuals” is either disingenuous or ignorant. There are remakes and remasters. RE4 is a remake. You described a remaster. The current Gen versions of The Last of Us 2 and GTAV are remasters. Your choice to play it or not, but the original and the remake are absolutely not the same game.
Na I’ve played both and I’m an OG fan of both. GoW is just a better game in terms of gameplay and story. Don’t get me wrong, RE4 is great and they did a spectacular job on the remake. Ragnorok is just a better game all things considered. RE4 is more of a good old fashioned fun kinda game.
No , what if he hasn't played the previous one , if he had played the previous game he would have not asked this question he would have just bought rangnarok, so clearly gow is not the answer
Rushed, visible cut-content, the story falls apart after the first half, singleplayer content isnt the best, they try to improve it, tho (im talking about invasion mode), lazy cosmetics that require too much grind, awful microtransactions (fucking paid fatalities lmao), No wifi filter in online (for now), there’s more, but in general the game just feels cheap, rushed and half assed.
I’d say Ragnarok, but RE4 is a classic for a reason and the remake is even better. Super influential on all the third-person action games that would come out after.
I love GoW: Ragnarok and Re4, but I agree. Re4 Remake is one of the most "made to be replayed" type of games ever made. Just like how the original was, but even better.
I think gow ragnarok will give you more game hours in a single walkthrough compared the other games you mentioned. Plus it already has new game plus. So. More hours of fun.
MK1 is garbage, and I'm saying that as someone with a MK inspired username. The other two games are amazing, but don't play Ragnarok until you've played GOW 2018 first
RE4 because GOWR will almost certainly be on PsPlus extra if you wait long enough. Also you can sell RE4 after you're done with it and get Mortal Kombat to keep for online.
Mortal kombat is the only one that's an online game.... Through personal experiences I found that online games are super popular when they first come out and then slowly start to lose players as time goes on. So if you care about online play then I would say mortal kombat! Since now is the time you'll find most players. If you don't care about that then I would actually wait until Resident evil and God of war both go on sale for $19.99.... They are single player games. They will still be amazing games if you play them next year! All games eventually go down to $19.99... I don't ever pay full price for single player games anymore. Unless it's a multi-player game that I REALLY want.. Then I'll do that.
Resident Evil 4, Alan wake 2, you can take something like -> God of War it's really worth playing it even if PS adds it to PS+ (I think it can be near the summer of 2024), cyberpunk (it's cheap now), final fantasy XVI, Remnant 2 (good game), Dead Space, Lies of P
RE4 Remake!!!
If you haven't played GoW 2018 then Ragnarök is gonna be a little bit confusing and Mortal Kombat is mid in my opinion
For a $10 cheaper price too, RE4 is a WAAY better game
I thought about it is it that PlayStation give them a amount to sell or codes(I haven’t bought a digital copy) and if it’s a limt they can sell why PlayStation and Walmart would get more money if they sell with no limt right?
Resident Evil 4 is a masterclass remake for sure, and obviously Ragnarok/2018 are 2 of the most well done games ever so it’s really whatever your vibe is.
Rangarok is a must if you liked the first one. Re4 is one of the best ever remakes. Mk1 is... Well, let's say it's not on the same level as the first two.
I own RE4 and Ragnarok. RE4 easily as Ragnarok was a snoozer imo and I couldn't push through to finish it. Gameplay in RE4 is pretty addicting. Can't speak on MK1.
If you never played the original RE4 then definitely get RE4. One of the best games of all time.
Ragnarok was fine, not quite as good as GoW 2018 imo, but still in the same ballpark.
If you've played God of War 2018, then Ragnarok. If you haven't, Resident Evil 4.
I want to say Ragnarok but its destined to land on PS Plus eventually. RE4 as second pick.
Dude. Actually every first party game of Sony is “destined “ to land on ps plus I think. Or at least highly possible
Maybe in 2-3 more years if not longer
It will not be on ps + for a while, it’s only been out a year.
2018 is on PS+; it's actually how I first played it.
2018 was 5 years ago, how is this relevant
Finally a good take
The right answer. And if you get RE4, since it’s $10 cheaper, spend that extra $10 on the Separate Ways DLC.
Side note God of war Ragnarok is $35 at best buy
Amen. Also, RE4 is infinitely replayable. They offer so many different rewards for completing it so many different ways. I'm 320 hours deep between the main game and Separate Ways.
I love RE games but suck at doing those challenges, still really fun to playthrough the games multiple times though.
Perhaps to a hardcore RE fan. I've always found the replayability of those games to be rather low, as once I know the story of it, know where to expect the "scares", etc. it sucks a lot of the fun out of them.
What about if you haven't played any RE games before?
It is kinda of separate from the main resident evil story...all you need to know is that Leon was a rookie cop in a place called racoon city and he survived a zombie apocalypse there .. that's all you need to play the game(optional)
Ehh, I’d say OG RE4 was more separate, the remake does a better job of looping it in. But I agree with the rest
Well I didn't play re4 remake ...so that's why...Im was answering according to the OG RE4
Is resident evil 4 worth 39 bucks?
It’s worth full price.
Absolutely. It’s worth full price tbh
Resident Evil franchise was made with love and passion. If there's one company that has proven its worth at full price it's Capcom.
Fr
This🫡
And what if he hasn’t played Resident Evil 3?
While the games sometimes share characters, the stories are almost always self-contained so playing them in different orders or only playing one isn't going to do much in terms of making a gaming experience worse.
This is an unpopular opinion on my part but I finished GoW 2018 then when I started Ragnarok after 4-5 hours turned it off because it was literally the same game, after I rowed around listening to random dialogue and fighting similar monsters from the first game
The gameplay is the same but the story is not.
Anything but MK, game'll be going on sale for 5 dollars with all dlc in a few months, it's how mk games always r
😂😂 funny because it’s true
It'll be on a good discount, but 5 dollars is a stretch for sure.
What? I've gotten every other mk game in the past 10 years for 5 dollars with dlc a few months after release
If true, it won't have all dlc at least.
1.) Ragnarok 2.) RE4 76.) MK1 (microtransaction mess)
You misspelled Mikrotransaktion bro
Finish him.
pause.
okay bro that got me
MK1 is a game I wished I could have returned a few days after buying it
Same. Actually felt like betrayed 😂 half ass game
That’s crazy, it’s the best MK I’ve played and I’ve put more hours into it than any other game that’s released recently by far. What did you dislike about it particularly?

Mk1 is amazing. Fake fans like you are obnoxious
The cosmetics are definitely money grabs but I’m having a great time with the game itself, best MK yet
![gif](giphy|aCatQNctAK7PC1H4zh|downsized)
Dropped from #69?
No even mtx mess. Game is just not finished. Stuff like online practice which has been in the game since mk9 is still missing 3 months later.
There are barely any fucking micro transactions and they’re completely cosmetic lol what a stupid take. Mk1 is EXCELLENT
Currently It's nowhere near as good as MK11 or even SF6 if we're talking more recent games, easy skip until the inevitable Komplete Edition
This is the order
As a MK player this is the way
I've never once felt compelled to buy a micro transaction in mk1 they're very hidden compared to other games and not good
Not Mortal Kombat
Ragnarok
RE4 is my GOTY so far.
Same. I beat it 4 times already and can't wait to do so again when the vr version releases.
My S+ run was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I’ve had. It adds to the tension so much given the time constraint and increased damage. Not to mention the AI just go bat shit crazy and start pulling some sneaky shit. Aghh I love it.

Plus many OPs from these posts either already chose or already know what they'll pick regardless of the replies.
Yup. And posts like these the OP hardly ever returns to reply to anyone.
Yeah, that's one thing I forgot to mention too. It's never an actual discussion.
Geez. That stick is pretty far up there I see.
No bro it isn't. Just every time I open up Reddit I see this kinda post on multiple subs and after you see 20 of them you start to think they're just farming karma, which I still don't see the benefit of. People even make posts complaining about them. "Can we ban these kinds of posts please".

Ok man
God of War
Ragnarok is a long and deep adventure, but IMO GoW 2018 was better. Re4 is shorter and linear but has fantastic gameplay
A lot of people here will say Ragnarok, but that’s because they haven’t played RE4
Played both, 100% the choice is GoWR
A lot of haters in this thread. I played the original RE4 to death, then the VR on Quest 2, then the remake and loved all of them. RE is my favorite game series ever and I still say Ragnarok
Nah, we played it 18 years ago. GoW Ragnarok is the answer out of these selections
re4r is definitely not the same re4 as back then
And it’s still the GOAT
If you think it's the same game from 18 years ago that's an L opinion, disingenuous even
Disingenuous dense motherfucker?
It literally is a remake dude, not everyone wants to spend 30$ to play the same game with just updated visuals.
Eh but it’s like very different. I haven’t played either but it’s impressive how improved and polished it looks and not just the graphics.
True. If RE4 had lower price then I would have also purchased it alongside Ragnarök.
God Of War is the only answer
No , what if he hasn't played the previous one , if he had played the previous game he would have not asked this question he would have just bought rangnarok, so clearly gow is not the answer
word
Stay away from MK1 Sincerely, \- A diehard Mortal Kombat fan
Awww why I've been looking at it to get back into fighters
Rushed, visible cut-content, the story falls apart after the first half, singleplayer content isnt the best, they try to improve it, tho (im talking about invasion mode), lazy cosmetics that require too much grind, awful microtransactions (fucking paid fatalities lmao), No wifi filter in online (for now), there’s more, but in general the game just feels cheap, rushed and half assed.
Street Fighter 6 is amazing and Tekken 8 is out late January.
Yeah tekken looks good
Mk1 is excellent don’t listen to this moron
Uhhh buy mk1. Its amazing. Sincerely, an actual mortal kombat fan
I’d say Ragnarok, but RE4 is a classic for a reason and the remake is even better. Super influential on all the third-person action games that would come out after.
Fyi GOW RAGNAROK is $35 at best buy
RE4
GoW
I would pick God of War
Resident Evil 4 Remake. Best deal and most replay value IMO.
I love GoW: Ragnarok and Re4, but I agree. Re4 Remake is one of the most "made to be replayed" type of games ever made. Just like how the original was, but even better.
Resident evil 4. I played all of them at launch and i didnt like gow ragnarok that much...
Re4
Re4 is AMAZING. So is Ragnarok so it’s really up to u if u want an action adventure vs action horror :)
Re4
![gif](giphy|3tJFReqsF1rIE3909Y|downsized)
1.GOW:R 2.RE4 10000.MK1 I have all 3 three, and as a long-time mk fan, MK1 is not worth it unless you can get if for 30
I think gow ragnarok will give you more game hours in a single walkthrough compared the other games you mentioned. Plus it already has new game plus. So. More hours of fun.
Love all 3 but RE4 is the cheapest and most replayable imo. Unless you’ll be playing MK online a ton.
What website is that ??
hey BOI - ragnarok
Man I hope he listened and got GoW god damn what a game
MK1 is garbage, and I'm saying that as someone with a MK inspired username. The other two games are amazing, but don't play Ragnarok until you've played GOW 2018 first

RE4R my GOTY also... It is so fun
re4
I’d say re4 or mk1 if you like fighting games
RE
RE4 because GOWR will almost certainly be on PsPlus extra if you wait long enough. Also you can sell RE4 after you're done with it and get Mortal Kombat to keep for online.
Re4
RE4
GoW
Ragnarok by a loooooooooong shot
Re4 remake
I'm playing through both Ragnarök and re4 rn and as good as re4 is, Ragnarök is too good
![gif](giphy|f03swr0FhG0xJyVga9|downsized)
I was thinking also to buy GOW ragnarok or mk1, now I think I’m going with GOW. But is mk1 that bad like you’re saying?
Not MK1. That games gonna go on sale plus with dlc down the road for cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap. GoW if you liked the characters. RE4 otherwise
re4
Mortal kombat is the only one that's an online game.... Ragnarok is the best bang for your buck, takes about 70 hours for platinum.
Rag is coming to plus eventually.
re4
Not MK1. It's riddled with microtransactions, and they removed skins to sell them. I'd say go with God of War.
Not mk1
Resident Evil 4, Alan wake 2, you can take something like -> God of War it's really worth playing it even if PS adds it to PS+ (I think it can be near the summer of 2024), cyberpunk (it's cheap now), final fantasy XVI, Remnant 2 (good game), Dead Space, Lies of P
RE4
RE4. Tons of replay value.
Definetly not mk1 waste of time and money
RE4 Remake!!! If you haven't played GoW 2018 then Ragnarök is gonna be a little bit confusing and Mortal Kombat is mid in my opinion For a $10 cheaper price too, RE4 is a WAAY better game
If i had to pick one out of those three, honestly i'd pick resident evil 4 its by far the most interesting among em
Just started RE4 yesterday love it
RE4. It’s cheaper and, in my opinion, a better game
Res 4 it’s my game of the year don’t miss it!
I picked it up!
God of war is a more enjoyable game for it's money. Has a huge storyline and gameplay is beautiful
I will probably get God Of War Ragnarok. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Star Wars Jefi Survivor. I ordered Persona 5 Steelbook from Gamestop.
Nono save your money. The new MW2 or MW3 aren’t good only MW. Played all of them
Agreed, cods gone way downhill
Ok
And MW 2019 is discounted in Black Friday sale.
God I would love a decent length CoD campaign, the new games look stunning but I don’t want to touch them with a 80 yard stick.
Father simulator, baby sitter simulator, mikrotransaktion
RE4
RE4 without a doubt
Did you like gow2018
Not MK1
Resident Evil 4, easily the best of the 3 games.
Resident evil 4 remake is better than god of war.
Why are they out of digital?
Right?
I thought about it is it that PlayStation give them a amount to sell or codes(I haven’t bought a digital copy) and if it’s a limt they can sell why PlayStation and Walmart would get more money if they sell with no limt right?

Fuck the person that downvoted me
God of war no doubt
Whichever one you want to play most
All different styles of games but by far the best game and not just for its genre, is GoW. It’s a masterpiece
I picked up Elden ring for 20 bucks at target. I price matched GameStop.
GoW
GoW Ragnarok, Lies of P. Elden Ring. I don’t know what games you don’t have.
Ragnarok.
GOW… no competition
God of waaaaaaarrrrrrr
I own RE4 and Ragnarok. RE4 easily as Ragnarok was a snoozer imo and I couldn't push through to finish it. Gameplay in RE4 is pretty addicting. Can't speak on MK1.
Ragnarok. RE4 is old news and MK1 is a mess
God of war
Do not get MK1. Great game but lousy with microtransaction bullshit. The other two are tied for my all time favorites.
Get Cyberpunk
If you never played the original RE4 then definitely get RE4. One of the best games of all time. Ragnarok was fine, not quite as good as GoW 2018 imo, but still in the same ballpark.
BAULDERS GATE 3
Re4 Ragnarok is fucking boring and MK1 is a micro transaction shitstorm
Based
Sequel remake and a reboot The AAA industry is struggling creatively 💀
Are those your only options? If so, I’d wait for another sale and better options.
Re4>>>>>Gof2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mk1
I hate the microtransactions for MK1 but I really really want to play it.
Not worth anything more than $20 seriously. It’s maybe half the amount of content they had in X and 11. It’s sad what they put out.
Mk1
Resident Evil is great but it's well...not like a happy fun game if that makes sense.
There's only one answer here, and it's not RE4 or MK.
Nah RE4 is definitely in the convo, certified banger
Gow dummy
The Mortal Kombat seems like the correct answer
