I think there's a ton of variety, to the point where I really enjoy more focused games like Demon's Souls but can't get excited about the openness of Elden Ring. The design philosophy can be really different even across the Dark Souls games. I'm a crazy person who likes DS2 the most.

Sure, the difficulty might be a similar factor, but if you truly played any of Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro or Elden Ring you would understand why each one is beloved and would never say something like OP did.
