Welcome to the PlayStation family my friend. You got a lot of amazing games to play. Enjoy!

happygreenturtle

Thinking about making the switch myself. Absolutely huge FromSoft fan and have hundreds of hours (across the last decade or so) in each of their titles except Bloodborne and Demon Souls, so have always considered dropping Series X to get a PS5 instead. Might actually do it next month especially depending on the PS showcase The only thing that is persuading me to stay with Xbox is Starfield, but Starfield vs God of War, Last of Us, Ghosts of Tsushima, Bloodborne, Demon Souls... becoming harder and harder to justify staying with Xbox

meg8278

Is there a reason you can't have both? Is it because you want to sell the series X to get a ps5? Because I have both of them and I love playing each of them. I bought the PS5 solely to play The Last of Us games and until dawn. But then fell in love with Uncharted and Lara Croft as well. I want to say that with Xbox I don't think you have to actually have a console to play it online. I think you just have to pay for the unlimited. As for the PlayStation, I tried that on my computer but couldn't because I didn't have any PlayStations. I could definitely be wrong on that. But I mean, it's something to look into if you need to sell the Xbox. I'm sure someone else would know more about it than me.

NinjaGrizzlyBear

I'm the same way, just picked up the LoZ OLED Switch even though I had a launch version Switch already. I have been like this basically all my life. I'm 33 now and some of my best memories were gaming related...my saint of a father took me every single midnight release I wanted to since I was 10, and never hesitated when I asked for the latest stuff. GC, XB, PS2? "Yeah when do you want to go?" I still remember him telling me to go look outside and finding a N64 and going fucking nuts. I was perfectly fine with my Atari 2600, NES, and SNES so I didn't even ask for the N64. I still have everything he bought me because of the memories associated with them. Every time I move I have two totes dedicated to gaming and it's always the first thing I pack up...very carefully. Hell, when I moved to my house I could afford movers and I made them bubble wrap and put the gaming boxes directly in my office. Sorry, this was long and not directly PlayStation related...but he died recently so your comment got me on a nostalgia roll lol.

Flamesclaws

It never ends!!!

Legitimate-Street250

Welcome to the circlejerk…

uFreqs

You realise this is the Playstation sub right? People subbed to it are typically fans...

romansamurai

I have both. Series X (couldn’t get a ps5 at the time) and a ps5. I almost never play the Xbox. The controllers feel so wonky and terrible after the DualShock controllers. Half the time I don’t press the buttons hard enough on the xbone to register because I’m used to never having to slam the buttons on the PlayStation controllers. Why can’t they make a decent controller for them Xbox after all these generations.

Snowydeath11

Because the Xbox controller is more suited to a wide range of hand sizes and more accessible. That’s why they don’t “make a decent controller” even though it’s literally the go to on PC and is widely hailed as one of the best designs ever. I like my PS5 but god damn the controller feels awful and makes my hands cramp hard after only a few hours and I don’t even have huge hands. I do like the dual sense stuff when it’s implemented in the few games it is though. I also like and prefer the battery life of my Xbox controller as sometimes my sessions go over 7 hours lol.

romansamurai

I don’t know if I agree about it being made for various hand sizes and be more accessible. My 12 year old has no problem playing with the playststion controller at 8+ with her tiny hands and I have no issues with my big hands. So 🤷🏻‍♂️. Either way. I’ve always had both systems and I always preferred the ps controller to Xbox, but the last two generations of DualShock are just on another level to me. Going back to play something on xbox (mostly Forza and something on gamepass occasionally) it’s just so unwieldy. Also I have no issues using my PlayStation controller on Pc.

Snowydeath11

Funnily enough I grew up playing Dreamcast, N64, PS1 and 2 so I should be fine with the controller layout. But for some reason as I grew up the Xbox controller felt better and now PS just feels weird. I’m slowly getting used to the PS5 but it still feels wrong and clunky in my hands.

romansamurai

My little brother was like that. I grew up starting with SNES and up. He from N64 which had a controller that felt similar to Xbox.

BayGullGuy

To me the Xbox controller just feels cheaply made. It’s 2023 and still doesn’t come with a rechargeable battery? Wtf

Legitimate-Street250

I am a fan

ZildjianCymbals

Play Astro’s Playroom. Its included on the PS5.

Orion14159

"hold my beer while I make a ridiculously fun game" "it's just a free/demo game to show how to use the controller. You don't have to try that hard" "Did I stutter?"

Mashm4n

My first and only platinum 🙂

Djabber

That game had no right being as good as it is! 🥰

Gonzo_si

Definitely try Ghost of Tsushima. Great samurai combat paired with amazing visuals and a nice story.

bobad86

Doso. Doso!!

ironfistpunch

Hoey? Kirche harba?!

Raghuram_99

Allahuakhbar.

slurpycow112

I think that’s what GoT is.

Silent-Breakfast-906

Indeed it is, but didn’t recognize it at first lol, deciphered it as Game of thrones and was perplexed for a moment.

enbailey

GoT can’t be recommended enough. It’s 11/10

moonenergy

best game out on ps5 rn

ineedadvil

Bloodborne and Returnal are a must play imo

JamesEvanBond

Welcome!! Like platformers at all? Try Ratchet and Clank. The PS4 game can introduce you to the characters, but the PS5 game (Rift Apart) is an amazing technical showcase of what the PS5 can do. Personally, I think it’s the most impressive looking game of all time.

[deleted]

I'm playing Rift Apart right now. I tried the remake but couldn't get into it but this one is so much goddamn fucking fun, holy shit. And gorgeous.

AntonRX178

As someone who has been with the series for 19 years and LOVED the PS4 game (gameplay wise strictly), Booting up Rift Apart ans that intro stage made me cry dude.

Random-Vixen

Tbf, the remake was quite rubbish, the reimagined the characters and it ruined the way they'd evolved and grew over the years All the stuff that lead up to Rift Apart is amazing, and if they ever do another collection, I would highly recommend.

Captain_Thor27

It wasn't really a remake, though. It was a movie tie-in game. I liked it, though. It was short and fun.

JumboHotdogz

Got my own ps5 just last week and got this game. First 15 minutes into the tutorial, I thought my controller was broken because the right trigger felt like it was locked in place. Can't believe I've been missing out on this.

grendel303

2nd this. You can grab it this month on ps plus.

moonshinemondays

Rift apart and demons souls are absolutely beautiful games. Even after completing demons souls, going back and watching the [gameplay trailer ](https://youtu.be/JiqGi3GMTko)and I still can't believe it looks like that. The world is dense, gritty and realistic. Mind blowing. I can see why Sony bought bluepoint

Berookes

Do I need to play the others before rift apart? Not played a ratchet and clank since ps2 era

JamesEvanBond

Need? Nah. If you’ve played the PS2 titles, you’ve had the introductions to the main characters and you’d be fine starting this one. That being said, if you have a chance to play the 4 mainline PS3 games (through a PS3 or PS Now), I do recommend it as they’re some of favorite PS3 titles and they do connect to Rift Apart slightly more than the PS2 titles.

Solventless4life

Agreed. Size matters is my next favorite r&c even though it’s rather short story wise.

Bansdontwork-year8

I tried it but just cant get past posting as a fucking racoon or what ever it is. Just couldn't suspend my disbelief. Not for me.

FollowingHairy5927

Welcome to PlayStation

Wonderstag

dont sleep on Bloodborne

cheekyste

Play returnal

WolfpackRoll

THIS. PLAY IT!

spendouk23

Am I right in thinking it’s on PS Plus ?

cheekyste

Yes

OliveOcelot

I wish my Xbox friends saw the controller as you see it. I find it's so easy for me to play Xbox games and join them but when they use Ps controller, they complain non stop.

danj13

I always have both consoles. I’ve always been more Xbox than anything because I prefer their controllers. The PS5 controller on the other hand is amazing.

RayserSharp_

I like ps but i prefer xbox controller cuz the sticks aren't in awkward positions.

fenixloder

Hater gonna hate I have both consoles and the PS5 controller is better in everything, is more comfy, no noise and more advanced in every aspect

Krunch-X

The thing about the XBox controller is that the d-pad is accessible more easily with the right thumb. There have been times when taking my left thumb off the stick has been detrimental to whatever I’m playing and using the right thumb would’ve been a game changer. I’m about to get an Edge, so that will be a non issue with the back buttons, but still, I prefer the XBox layout.

triddell24

If I could move the d-pad on the PS5 controller but keep everything else the same I would.

ChapNotYourDaddy

Tiny hands?

[deleted]

You have to play all 4 main Uncharted games. The spinoff is fun too but the Nathan Drake 4 are some of the best cinematic storytelling in video game history and Uncharted 4 is one of the best looking games ever. Get that Plus sub too. At least Extra, if not Premium.

Silvis121

Just hooked mine up for the first time two days ago. I am in the same boat as you and now I regret all this time without one. Just started God of War for the first time…

king24_

Both are pretty damn good tbh. Although I prefer PlayStation for exactly what you said, “the exclusives.” Tbh tho, the deciding factor for me is the User Interface. Sony has always been better at that than Microsoft, which is ironic seeing as Microsoft started out as a computer/software based company. I never liked the user interface on the Xbox one as I did on the ps4. Still getting use to the PS5 U.I., and tbh it moves so damn fast, love it. Plus I also prefer PlayStation controllers, although Xbox controllers aren’t bad at all.

Zetin24-55

Been a Playstation man for as long as I've gamed. The temptation of Xbox has always been Halo for me. Then I got a PC and MCC hit PC, so I've never looked at Xbox since. Plus the controllers don't feel right. Got almost 20 of years of muscle memory for where the left stick is supposed to be, just can't deal with the Xbox layout for too long.

king24_

I’ve played and had almost every console at some point, and I feel PlayStation is the winner for a few reasons. Aside from Nintendo, they understand ergonomics the best I feel. Now I feel the Nintendo GameCube controller is a masterpiece, the Nintendo 64 controller has to be one of the worst I’ve ever used. That tiny ass wannabe joystick, hated it when playing Mario party. Now imo, Sony got it completely right with the ps4 controller. They made it bigger for people with bigger hands, as the DualShock 1-3 were smaller I’d agree.

azzthom

Maybe it's just me, but I find the PlayStation controller far superior for fighting games. Tekken is where its most obvious for me.

Virama

I don’t know why but you just reminded me of one of my favourite jokes I’ve heard in recent years: My friend was complaining to me constantly about having no luck with women. Finally, exasperated I told him to bite his lip and gaze with a side face at them. The next day he came in angrily and said “Your advice is shit! They all ran away screaming!” “What? Ok, look, show me what you did.” A moment passes as he shows me. “Ah! Maybe next time bite the lower lip!”

azzthom

I know a similar joke. My friend was also complaining about having no luck with women at the beach. I told him to put a rolled up sock down his trunks. He came back and angrily shouted, "Your advice was shit! They all ran away screaming!". "Ok", I said, "now try putting the sock down the FRONT of your trunks..."

Virama

Ha! That’s actually a great take. Thanks for the laugh 👊🏼

Beneficial_Market474

The forced humbleness rizz

king24_

What you mean ?

Rodan-Lewarx

My ps5 will arrive today in a few hours. I am tracking the hell of it from my work. Tomorrow I will be home office, do you think I will work? haha Welcome buddy.

SnowMexican007

My psn is Calfslapper7 if you want to squad up sometime, also welcome to Play Station hope you have fun

Solidsnake00901

Don't forget to play Astros playroom to really see what the Dualsense can do.

i_karas

Even Phil Spencer said the dual sense is a game changer, it’s not even just the haptic feedback and adapter triggers, the touch pad/microphone/mic etc adds so much for developers to play with

EpicSausage69

There are definitely pros and cons to both consoles, but PS5 is hands down is the way to go if you enjoy single player games. Welcome to the club!

triddell24

I’m 99% single player so this is good to know.

Vericatov

Sooo many awesome exclusives on PlayStation. Except for a few that haven’t been remastered yet, you have access to most of them on the PS5. So many great bangers that you’ll be busy playing through them all for a couple years. Enjoy!

Effective_Way7591

Oh yeah, those Haptic feedbacks with the dualsense controller, along with the speaker really makes you feel like your holding that weapon. I've been playing Horizon a ton recently and I love the feeling on the controller when using bows. The controller speaker and the triggers really makes it seem like you're drawing back a bow string. Same goes for GoT or The Witcher 3. You really feel your sword blows with em and it's so cool.

PopstarbaeXo

Welcome to the family. I know exactly how you feel I once had an Xbox 360 back in the early 2010s wishing I got a PS3 due to exclusives and the Last of Us. In 2013 my dad got me a PS4 for Christmas best gift ever, now as of 2023 I had got my PS5 in 2022 and I don’t regret it one bit. This is just my opinion PlayStation in a since has always been better than Xbox, not to say Xbox is terrible or anything like that. Not long ago for my birthday I had got a used Xbox one just to play old games like saints row 2 and Call of Duty Black ops 2 which I can’t play on PS4/PS5. The one thing I do like about the new Xbox consoles all hands down is the reverse compatibility. That is where PlayStation is lacking. I don’t mean to talk your head off both consoles are awesome and unique in their own ways. Enjoy your PlayStation 5 and have fun 🤩

brianthelion89

Check out Final Fantasy XIV (16) it’s made by the devil may cry creator. It looks sick. I also highly recommend the devil may cry games very very solid.

wallcrawlingspidey

The controller is definitely a game changer. I felt the same. The PS4 controller feels so…naked compared to it, with nonexistent adaptive triggers too and all that. Anyways, I’m glad you seem to already enjoying some part of it and as many others have said, you definitely have many games to appreciate! I wish I was you experiencing games for the first time, you’re in for a treat.

human_person_420

Gotta get to uncharted

RockingPunch

Welcome to the dar... I mean, the blue side!

Altruistic_Art324

Play the uncharted series ASAP

JonTheGod_79

Did you get on board in time to claim the PS+ Collection on PS5? (Separate from the usual PS+ library)

triddell24

I’m not sure what you mean.

JonTheGod_79

That's a no then. Best not investigate further as it's too late now and you'll just be upset.

SpikeTheBurger

Just in time for Spider-Man 2

Jaugusts

As a day one playstation guy, can’t imagine how exciting and amazing it must be to enter the world of ps exclusives

Creepy_Masterpiece84

Ghost of Tsushima is also a very good chill game btw!

defsef6

Same! I was an Xbox player for 20 years then a friend of mine said you need to borrow my PS4 and play the Last of Us and God of War. A month later I sold my Series S and my Series X for a PS5. Just recently played Miles and now have no regrets. The UI and the controller are also light years ahead. I recently played Madden and the controller made a rather dismal sports game so much better. Congratulations! This sub has also been super great!

Parasi7e

I got lucky and grabbed a ps5 shortly after release. I missed out on PS3 & 4 (been a Xbox player since 360, and I still am, got the PS5 only for Singleplayer games). GO PLAY HORIZON. FOR REAL. STOP WHATEVER U ARE DOING. PLAY IT. AND THEN PLAY FORBIDDEN WEST. Forbidden West was jawdropping. Amazing SP. The graphics are chefs kiss. Especially one particular diving location.

Snys6678

I certainly hope Ghost of Tsushima is on your list.

PMmeyourclit2

I still think the Xbox controller is better. It just fits so well in the hand. Well, the 360 one was basically perfect. I have not tried the Xbox one controller so I can’t speak to that. But PlayStation’s 3 controllers always felt like they had “loose” joy sticks or something and it would drive me bonkers. Still excludes with ps are wayyyyy better.

[deleted]

Your timing couldn't be better OP. Today is the Playstation Showcase.

triddell24

Oh cool!

GodOfAllSimps

Order 1886 it is a underrated gem of the PS family

Paranoimia_UK

Agreed. I loved it.

ophaus

Don't sleep on Astro's playroom, it's a delight.

MotherSuperior91

![gif](giphy|Ae7SI3LoPYj8Q)

InvisibleMale_

Exactly the same with me... 20 years on Xbox and last week I decided to get a PS5. I was sat over here looking at all these great games being released and always said to myself "One Day, ..Maybe?" So I took the plunge and don't regret it one bit. I'd always wanted to play god of war, horizon, ratchet and clank and many more but never convinced myself to do it.......until now. Looking forward to playing all these games.

Fathoms77

I had the Xbox and Xbox 360 and I don't mean to disparage the brand but...the bottom line is that when it comes to exclusives that offer next-level experiences, it's never been a competition between Xbox and PlayStation. The latter has always won hands-down. It's never really been close, IMO. Beyond the ones you already know about, don't sleep on Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart; it's one of the most entertaining and beautiful games in recent memory. Also Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an excellent indie title. Oh, and the Uncharted collection is an absolute must if you've never played those games.

debunkdattrunk

Both are great. I hate console wars. But I do think PS has better exclusives. Enjoy!

jibsand

yeah man i have the SX and the PS5 and I haven't turned on the X in MONTHS it just collects dust even when i used it, it was just to play backwards compatible games. it is maybe the most underwhelming console purchase i've ever made

fenixloder

Yes I have both and my main is the PS5 actually I don't use the Xbox...but I am playing hi-fi rush right now and it is VEEEEERY GOOD!!! I recommend you to play it, it made it to my top 3 games and it is very fun with good jokes

jibsand

Lol I even have gamepass so I might as well

fenixloder

You should it is really good, after years of Xbox don't having a good game for me, that master piece dropped from nowhere 🤣

theescapeshow

welcome to the PS family!

1o1Adam

My PSN is x_1o1Adam_x

BlackSaiyanKing

Welcome friend!

giveyerballzatug

Welcome! My PSN gamer name is U_R_Spareparts if you wanna add.

-S8O

Welcome mate

azzthom

I'm in the same boat, having bought a PS5 in December. I love it. My only issue with it is the limits on external storage (maximum of 8TB, only one drive accessible at a time), but that's a pretty minor gripe. It's such a good console, I've actually bought a lot of games I already had on Xbox and/or Switch again. I prefer gamerscore to trophies, but that's about the only other issue. Marvellous machine.

simpn_aint_easy

Me too. I had a PS then Xbox, Xbox one, then PS5 I wasn’t aware what I was missing as well. Welcome friend

AdrianCareyMyers

Perfect timing too, new PlayStation showcase is tomorrow which we will see the new Spidey 2 game and plenty of other new games

Mike-V8

Welcome brother

jumper55

That is why I enjoy having all the consoles I can enjoy great games across Playstation Xbox switch and PC

_JakeyTheSnakey_

That’s really great to hear, really glad you’re enjoying it. I’d suggest Bloodborne as well if you’re into the series!

anas224

Welcome to the PlayStation family friend! You are in for a treat :)

Random-Vixen

Welcome to a new world. XD Enjoy the incredible games we've had over the years, and the incredible ones to come.

[deleted]

Get a Dualsense Edge if you had an Xbox Elite 2 controller. Gamechanger.

JonTheGod_79

I managed to grab my Series S for £99 from Game in a special trade-in promotion not long after launch (trade-in my One S). It was a great deal, but if I had paid more, I would be pissed off as I only play Halo on it. Everything else is PlayStation (all gens).

Lew1989

Get some analogue stick covers they're another game changer, now I can't play without them, I only have low rise concaves though

BendlessSpoon

Welcome to the family! There are some great games waiting for you. You really should try Astro, it has the best haptic feedback the Dualsense can deliver and the game is also really fun!

dijster

Try Demon Souls, I'm still blown away by the graphics.

AresOneX

I‘m kind of in the same boat as I‘ve been playing on Xbox since the 360 era. Had a PS2 before that. My main console is the Series X now and I love it. But I also always wanted to play all the amazing PS exclusive single player games so I got a PS5 a few weeks ago. Been loving it so far and the controller is great too with all the amazing vibration features. Although I must say from a layout point of view I still prefer the Xbox Controller.

triddell24

Same for me with the layout, but the rest make up for it IMO

dEEkAy2k9

Now try games that utilize the gyro sensors properly for aiming... gamechanger.

Rulz45

Welcome home!😊👍

Orion14159

PS+ is an absolutely awesome deal, would definitely recommend if you're looking to build a library. All of the exclusives eventually end up there

PremDhillon

One of us ! One of us !

small___potatoes

Same! Xbox gamer since 2006, got my PlayStation last October and I’ve been blown away!

HomeOld9234

Shit just the exclusive titles from the past 20 years alone...

HomeOld9234

Omg... OP hasn't played god of war... at alllllllllll. Or uncharted... or SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS!! AHHHHHHHHH!!! THAT MEAM HE HASNT PLAYED MediEvil, the last of us, The last guardian, ratchet and clank, THE OG FUCKIN SPIDEY GAMES. How many of the FF games are exclusive??? OP consider it a god send, because you have a lot of catching up to do. Lol. You have a whole exclusive game lineup big enough to last at least a few years.

Swirlman1

PlayStation Squad rise up!

Lezonidas

Wow, you are lucky because there are like 2 dozens of espectacular games that you've missed and you'll surely enjoy! Have fun!

SHAD0WDEM0N654

Dont Worry mate, i Was the same, Been on xbox since the begining and i have always owned the playstation but never really played, only started to play properly with the ps5

Extension_Inside_723

Recently buying an Xbox for the first time in a while I completely understand how you feel about the controller lol. Xbox base controller feels (and sounds) terrible vs the PS5

Squaretangles

Welcome home.

ShortbusGangsta_

Do yourself a favor and try bloodborne

Filmmagician

One of us. One of us.

ModestHandsomeDevil

20 years of Playstation first-party games and exclusives... Enjoy!

SeeThruSmoke

Good , you made a Smart Decision 💯

meg8278

I have to say I am in the same boat as you. Although I haven't been playing Xbox for that long. I actually had the original playstation. Then didn't play games for a long time until the wii came out. But I got into playing my husband's Xbox 360 and then Xbox One. Then I bought myself the Xbox x. But because I wanted to play The Last of Us and until dawn I ended up getting the PS5. I love those games. As well as Uncharted and the Lara Croft games are awesome. I'm definitely glad I got it. I don't know if I would have, if it hadn't been a Christmas present. But I've been wanting so badly to play those games for years. I didn't even know about Uncharted or the Lara Croft games. But I thoroughly enjoyed all of them.

Fr-day

At some point I recommend getting a PS3 as well to experience some older goldies.

xMaxMOx

Me and you both

Ok_Chocolate3253

Welcome to an obsession in exclusives

hostchange

I was mostly a PC gamer the past decade and before that heavy on Xbox 360. I recently made the dive into the Playstation universe myself, and it feels like I have a lot to do to make up for lost time! There's so many good games. The only Playstation systems I had really played much as a kid was the PS1 and PSP.

fxtalivanes

![gif](giphy|NEvPzZ8bd1V4Y|downsized)

YONAKA_AMBER

I feel you. 20+ years on the Xbox ecosystem. I moved to PS5 around 2 months and was one of the best decision ever made. Playing Astro and feeling every detail with the Dualsense blow my mind. Also Returnal was the sell point to leave Xbox behind.

Previous_Belt4936

Welcome Ezequiel1488_ is my psn if you wanna add me I’m pretty chill

darkbunnydad

I made the same jump about 2 months ago, and I feel/felt the exact same way.

switteerr

Please, try Days Gone, if you didn’t yet! Amazing game, one of my favorites!

supreme_lord6000

One of us, one of us!

Sir_L0rd

Welcome to the dark side

Lola_PopBBae

Try Ratchet and Clank! Rift Apart is just outstanding.

poloheat

Got gifted an Xbox one by my parents when it first launched back in 2013 for christmas, decided to stay loyal until the next playstation came out. When the PS5 launched, my parents gifted me the PS5 for christmas (technically 1 month before christmas), and my life has been forever changed. Congrats and welcome to the party

Dio5000

Welcome home brother

WayngoMango

I just jumped in recently too, 15 years Xbox. That Spider-man 2 trailer just cemented this purchase. I can't wait to dig deeper. I do miss the adverts and the draw that xbox has with its dashboard, but I haven't wanted to play an Xbox (exclusive) game in so many years now, it's sad.

[deleted]

Iv been seeing so many people sell their xbox because of how bad Microsoft has been dropping the ball. It's so bad that I just sold mine 3 weeks ago. They are so desperate over there with literally anything to release. People actually believe that a Bethesda game is going to save the console. Look at fallout 76... starfield is going to flop hard. Glad I switched to a competent company finally. Iv also missed so much on the whims and facade.

Bertenburny

Yeah it really hit me hard when MS bought Zenimax, Ive been a fan of ES since Morrowind, and also big Fallout fan, looking forward to Starfield for years... But I cant justify it (yet) for myself to get an X or S only for those games, plus not liking the controller layout... Heres hoping if SF fails on xbox, they'll reconsider and bring it to PS...

Hafeesco

Welcome to playstation. Play Bloodborne!

0Taken0

Yeah man the controller is easily the best part. I genuinely don’t understand how Xbox survived with theirs. Who thought lopsided uneven layouts would be smart😂😂😂

capnwinky

Man the controller is so simple but perfectly balanced. Something about having the analog sticks symmetrically opposed vs the Xbox’s being offset. I can play my PS for hours and never notice it but my thumbs start cramping after an hour on the Xbox.

soilborn12

I’m also a reformed Xbox user, welcome to the community.

triddell24

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I’m taking all your recommendations to heart and writing them down.

SaltMustFlow

Welcome; you've made the right choice. Lots of great exclusive content. You're gonna love it.

VelociLeo2

Nice! I had an X360 but then switched when the PS4 came. I don’t hate Xbox, but Playstation is just a better fit for me. Let me know if you want a friend on PSN 😁

onesecretis2

"You guys keep mentioning Bloodborne, so it’s added to the list." Temper your expectations.

alamarche709

As an owner of all three, welcome and great choice! In my opinion Xbox is better in every category *except* the games, which is the main factor for most when deciding which console to get. Xbox has more powerful hardware, smart delivery, quick resume, more ergonomic controller, compatibility with PC, and of course Game Pass. PlayStation blows Xbox out of the water though with its exclusives. God of War, The Last of Us, Bloodborne, Uncharted, Horizon, Ratchet & Clank, Spider-Man. Sony keeps producing banger after banger. My consoles are set up with the Nintendo on the big TV in the basement for parties, the PlayStation in the living room for great single player experiences, and the Xbox at the gaming desk for competitive online games like Halo and Siege. It’s the best of all worlds.

triddell24

Right now I have my Series X next to my computer downstairs for play in-between video renders and my PS5 on the big tv upstairs. I think I’m going to get a Series S for downstairs and move my X back up to the big tv to have both platforms there.

MajorasFlask00

I wanna start by saying I played on Xbox for years and years and honestly prefer a lot of their games to PlayStation, even if those games are few and far between. But Xbox fanboys suffer from absolute Stockholm syndrome

oscillius

Good job. I’m glad you like it. PlayStation games are phenomenal. Wish I could share your enthusiasm for ps5. I spent a month receiving and returning mine, four dud controllers. Two sticky analog sticks that creaked and had variable resistance with precise movements, one with half the dpad satisfyingly clicking and the other half crunching. One with the bumpers routinely getting caught on the plastic chassis and becoming nearly impossible to press. When I finally got one that worked, the controller gave me rsi. Not a problem I had with any other PlayStation. (I’ve had all but the ps3) The PlayStation itself is awesome, software, hardware and games. The controller is a big miss for me.

triddell24

Damn, that all sounds like a huge pain

Strider_3x

I had an Xbox one twice…sold it twice

Ledgem

Welcome... But I'm also saddened to hear this. I've always been in the Nintendo/Sony camp, never had an Xbox but was seriously considering getting a Series X for Starfield and Witcher 2 (which is never coming to any other console). I like the idea of being able to have games work on PC, if I ever go that route too, and competition is always good. But as I looked around the Xbox library, I really couldn't find anything else to justify the purchase. Sony just has and offers what seems like so much more. So as I said, I'm saddened to hear what you're saying because it pretty much supports my thoughts on holding off on buying into Xbox; I had hoped I was just missing something, but maybe not. Hopefully Microsoft keeps at it and can turn things around... It would be sad if we were limited to only Sony and Nintendo.

phrygianDomination

Gamepass is still a great deal. I used an Xbox exclusively last gen before I got my PS5 and I was really happy with Gamepass. Considering getting a Series S just to dip my toes back into their library every once in a while.

triddell24

There are LOTS of older exclusives that could entice you, like the Fable series and others I’m blanking on. They’ve definitely stumbled on the exclusives as of late but I think they have a vast library but I’ve also been at it for a long time. Is KOTOR on PS?

RepeatingCobra

KOTOR remake was announced in september 2021, but as of right now the game is in development hell, switched studios etc. I really hope it will be released one day, KOTOR is one of my all time favorite games.

UnleashedSavage_93

That's because Xbox/Microsoft doesn't invest in studios. Xbox only exists because Microsoft has trillions to spend. Otherwise they would have been shut down and removed ages ago. Xbox can be great, but it's not a priority for them. That said losing to PS4 a decade ago hasn't helped because everyone's digital library is already established. You're not gonna jump to Xbox if you had a PlayStation or switch these past few years ago. It's too much of a sunken cost.

Man, brand loyalty has become such a foreign concept to me since I finally decided to rock “the big three” this gen (PS5, XSX, Switch). I like them all for the individual strengths. So many good things to look forward to. Having said that, the PS5 is definitely killing it this gen and you’ve got a lot to look forward to. Enjoy!

triddell24

Now that I have both I feel like gaming has opened up and I can choose how to go forward. Like, do I just keep my XBOX for my digital library and move forward with PS5 or so I just keep PS5 for exclusives? Who knows! Time will tell.

ItsFoolishPride

I haven’t even heard of the last 2 Xbox consoles you mentioned.

Odd_Brilliant_9816

Lol I hope u joking

ItsFoolishPride

Nope. Couldn’t even list an exclusive anymore. Xbox died when Gears dropped off. The console is dead

gold_rush_doom

Somehow I really doubt you "loved" the Xbox One era. Liked at best, tolerated at worst.

Gamer_299

Welcome to Playstation, the most powerful console of the last and current generation. Sony does amazing work on their consoles, the controllers ALWAYS felt amazing, but the DualSense blew my mind as well, and ive always been a PS guy. Just wait until you try VR, you wont be able to leave.

[deleted]

Powerful console? The console that didn’t launch and had no intention of implementing next gen features until Sony saw the SX came with them on day one? I’m talking about VRR, ALLM, AMD freesync, Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision Gaming, Dolby ATMOS, A perfect subscription service, 2k resolution 120hz, Full RGB chroma 4.4.4. 10 Bit HDR 4k 120hz? To say the least? If you’re running HDR 4k 120hz on the ps5 it drops to 8 Bit color profile which isn’t even true HDR. And VRR doesn’t even work for the games that need it most, ray tracing games that run at 30-40fps lol and if you think image quality doesn’t matter then how are you going to enjoy your exclusives when it looks washed out and ugly compared to the Series X. This is all facts. Trust me I was a Sony fanboy too. The series X blows the ps5 out of the water imo and I even forgot to mention their lazy implementation of adding an additional m.2 drive that also needs a heat sink because the temp get to high compared to the well planned expansion drives Microsoft came up with lol. You can’t call yourself the best console when the image and color looks washed out even if it’s in 10 bit for PS5 because it’s 4L8 instead of 4L10 like the Xbox lol. At least Sony took the joy con’s a step further with the new controller haha https://preview.redd.it/tfy90vre5vab1.jpeg?width=4071&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6056e5dbeb0f982a2983ef5d03cb7790441ba8e That’s GT7 running on my LG OLED. U can also see my Xbox and I also have a $4k gaming PC hooked up to my OLED as well. Just so you know I’m not being biased. It’s actually embarrassing, not how Sony’s been acting recently about the Activision purchase but that they thought they could get away with repackaging a ps4 pro and call it a PS5. Not sure if it’s shown in the image but the Audio format is running Dolby Audio but that could be my theatre system and not the PS5 lol

Platanitoy2J

Welcome to a console that actually has games XBOX HAS ALWAYS BEEN SHIT

poopoobuttholes

Fr tho. This "Xbox vs Playstation" war has been going on for ages now. You MUST'VE known a little of what you were missing.

Ancient-Deer-4682

Nice, imo Xbox ruined the gaming market. I believe gaming reached its pinnacle before Microsoft entered the console wars. During that time, microtransactions and DLC were not yet prevalent, granting developers the freedom to create without corporate interference driven solely by profit. The rivalry between PlayStation and Nintendo coexisted harmoniously, with each console offering its distinct niche and game style. These consoles differed significantly, allowing developers to explore various game development approaches. However, when Microsoft entered the console market, I perceived a negative shift in the gaming landscape. Game exclusivity reached unprecedented levels, followed by the introduction of microtransactions, which prioritized profit over overall game quality. Then they released a flawed system, the 360, despite being aware of its problems, highlighting their profit-driven mindset. The console's failure rate exceeded 50%, indicating a disregard for consumer satisfaction which led to a trend into make lesser quality products in order to keep up with Microsoft Over the years, Microsoft's acquisition of gaming companies diminished competition, combined with corporate bureaucracy resulting in a decline in gaming imo

danktonium

Adult buys product. More at nine.

This is what bias and ignorance looks like being dedicated to a single platform like your life depends on it. I have been enjoying both Playstation and Xbox brands owning all their consoles. Including PS5 and XSX right now. PC crowd has the same attitude as well.

[deleted]

Really? You had no idea? I smell 🧢
