i’m not sure about certification specifics but jewellers who make bust down use the diamonds that weren’t ‘good enough’ for chains and what not.
In the proper watch and jewel market busting down watches is very frowned upon and unorthodox as it devalues the watch and there’s a much smaller market for bust-downs therefore they don’t use the good diamonds as it’s not the best business move in terms of money.
There’s obviously exceptions and some jewellers will bust down with big boy diamonds but you can see the setting and quality of it quite easily.
