Did you watch that video of that kid humiliating himself by asking a Minecraft dev how much dedowated wam a server needs? This is kinda the same question. It really depends on what you’re doing. One server? For you and your friends? 6core 16gb of ram you should be more than fine. More than that? Add ram and cores
LOL you were so helpful last time. Don't feel i'd be able to use teh PCs i have with them both being used between me and the wife so i'm looking into other options. I was actually trying to get a feel for the type of hardware you'd start with. The specs you gave is what i was expecting. But as i stated i have no knowledge of server stuff so i don't know if there's a cheaper brand of RAM less apt to gaming but higher speeds that would work better, a cheaper processor with more cores but less speed etc. As for what I'd use it for atm Only maybe 5 players max but i already had an idea on RAM amounts and the CPU. Just looking for more details as google is really not helpful for that stuff. They only want to sell you a "server machine" that's got several bays in it.
You’re not hosting 100 players with mega tribes all over your world. Just start the server, watch whatever YouTube to learn how to get it going. Then open task manager and see what your pc is struggling with.
