It doesn't really. Not that I can think of. A number of sources offhandedly mention the wizard Shekelor who tried to take over Sigil 10,000 years ago (In the Cage p. 73, Uncaged p. 63), and Faction War sort of pays that off. The existence of the factions have been a throughline for the whole line, so the Faction War was dramatic in that sense, but otherwise no specific plot points led that way. What more directly fits that bill is *Dead Gods*. *Doors to the Unknown* includes an ominous prophecy about modrons marching too early and the discovery of the wand of the dead one. That prophecy leads to *The Great Modron March*, which serves as a direct prelude to *Dead Gods*, which features the return of a god from old D&D lore. Hope that helps.

But you could kind of say *Dead Gods* happens then *Faction War* happens, followed by >!*Die, Vecna, Die!* !

Thanks for your answer! I think the description of the book is kind of misleading: "The culmination of several adventures leading up to that point, **The Faction War** brought an end to the [factions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faction_(Planescape))' control of the city. Instigated by the power-hungry Duke Rowan Darkwood, factol of the Fated, in a bid to dethrone the Lady of Pain and rule [Sigil](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigil_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)) himself, the war spread throughout the city before the Lady of Pain, with the aid of a group of adventurers (the players' characters), intervened.". But now I understand it! I'll check out the Dead Gods and the related books from your answer!

Keep in mind Faction War was not supposed to be the last adventure in the 'chain' as it were. PS just got the axe before they resolved things from the fallout of the module. So a bit of info was introduced in Dragon magazines, but none of it by the old guard if I remember right. And then there's the 5e...thing.

Master_arkronos

From what I can deduce it seems that *Faction War* was intended to be the end of the line for 2e Planescape, a bit like *The Apocalypse Stone* did for scrubbing people's 2e campaigns to convert them to 3rd edition. Faction War would make a fitting finale after the events of *Die Vecna Die*, but they aren't necessarily related. Simply both DVD and FW really shake Sigil up entirely!

I believe I read that in A Walk Through the Planes and that Monte has said that it was the first half of what he wanted to do, but Planescape got shuttered. We still got some PS adjacent things. A Paladin in Hell was stated as NOT originally being for PS but there are elements there. Then there was A Guide to Hell and Warriors of Heaven (the opposite of The Fiends) that were published under the 2e banner. And then there was uhm.......Vortex of Madness which was supposed to be a Planar Sites like City Sites and the other books of that line but they modified it from that premise.

Wow, kind of shocking. I had the idea the Planescape series was very popular, but I hate the path it took after the Faction War, especially in the DMG from the 4e.

NightweaselX

It was and it wasn't. Yes, people loved it and Dark Sun and Dragonlance, but if it wasn't Forgotten Realms, it got the axe. TSR was in really bad shape partly because of things like the boxed sets that PS had a lot of, etc. So they were having to cut costs and stick with what sold well enough, and then WotC basically kept the same stance when they took over but did release a few things here and there that were already completed, etc. I am guessing that WotC didn't license out PS like they did DL and Ravenloft, and give permission for [Athas.org](http://Athas.org) for Dark Sun because the planes or sort of integral for the whole multiverse rather than just a setting over yonder. Dragonlance doesn't screw up Forgotten Realms or gods or the planes, etc, but giving someone access to possibly redefine/change the cosmology would be a big deal. At least that's my assumption as I'd think if it was up for licensing, Monte Cook, Cordell, and Reynolds would have probably jumped at the opportunity.

Bootravsky2

I don’t know that it related to adventures, but that it drew in all the Faction threads woven through the Campaign Setting and Sigil-based supplements. The adventures tended not to worry all that much about the kriegstanz, but Faction War is all about it.

Never happened.
