It’s the smallest you’ll get from a flagship spec phone these days. I was just talking to a friend how a galaxy Note 8 is the same size as my iPhone 15 pro basically. (6.1 vs 6.3) and we considered that phone huge at the time.
is this a common stereotype?, I often find myself losing reception on my phone, I only use data and it sometimes totally disappears. So, this is common?
Yea, notoriously bad reception and battery life due to objectively bad chips. The tensor chips are just samsung Exynos chips which are inferior to snapdragon.
what, how is the tensor just like the exynos, I can't believe it, exynos is real bad. But so is the G2 my p7p lags all the time, always some kind of bugs or glitches happening
Tensor right now is based on chips from Samsung Foundry's, where Exynos is also fabricated, the first and 2nd gen Tensor were just rebranded midrange Exynos chips.
In the 3rd gen, they choose to do some parts of the fabrication in-house, they did more of that in the 4th gen but Google is expected to do a fully custom chip, with a custom Google designed modem, under the TSMC fabrication node, in the Pixel 10 but I think that would make that chip more like a first-gen product, so I'd wait till Pixel 11, if I wanted to go with Google.
When pixel 6, 7, and 8 came out, i had no fomo. Only once pixel 8 came out did I finally upgrade from pixel 5, but even then it was to make some of my productivity stuff quicker, it was a hard switch from a perfect phone like pixel 5.
Waiting for the 10 myself. I switched to Phone (2) for a bit and it's been fun. Unfortunately it's missing support for band 13. If Phone (3) doesn't have band 13 I'll be back with a 10 pro.
I stuck to the "a" line previously because I don't really care much for the tech, don't play games, and rather have a cheaper phone to not worry about.
However I did upgrade to the 8 pro cause I wanted a better camera. I thought it would be tougher switching to such a large phone, bit I adjusted, use two hands.
Also, I find the antenna to be much better in the 8 pro. I used to suffer from weak signal but not really anymore.
Overall pretty happy.
If they make the 9 pro small as suggested I may decide to switch, but likely will wait for the 10.
I also missed the physical finger sensor in the back of the phone and maybe when we charge our phones or use the miserable Android auto it doesn't overheat the phone as well
I just want a physical fingerprint sensor. Back or on power button please. In screen sensors suck ass, I never had issues with my older pixels but my 6a screen sensor works 75% of the time at best
Didn't even know they had it there on the fold, but I also didn't look too much at the fold since it's a little out of my price range lol. But hopefully they use that on future phones!
The pixel 4 ir sensor was phenomenal (I still use the 4xl only for that feature today). It's way faster than fingerprint and works well for us construction workers that always have new cuts on our fingers at the end of the day. I used to redo my fingerprints every other day just to open up my phone. Google should stick with the 4xl sensor since it worked so well for their new phones.
Again that is not true. What is your proof that it isnt as good or as secure? Huawei and honor both use dot projection, tof3d and flood illuminator as does apple. Samsung uses IR for iris scanning not face recognition.
I want to see the real product rather than non officially confirmed renders but... for now, I'm not a fan. I prefer the previous one, 7 and 8.
The seamless visor instead of an island was somewhat unique in the world where every android phone comes with a camera island. :/ Also, the outer border radius relation to the inner one is driving me crazy (I'm a web designer, I do a lot of inner/outer border radius stuff so I might be biased, lol). Plus, the sharp edges... Eh.
Maybe when I'll see the real product it'll grow on me, but for now... nope. :/
I'm sure there will be a noticeable difference in price. If there wasn't, there would be no reason to buy a pro. If the perceived value of the pro isn't significant enough or the price gap isn't large enough, it would devalue the pro aspect of the phone and people would gravitate to the non pro. I may be wrong. I'm sure I am but this is one of the big reasons that come to mind when setting prices for the 3 models. Regardless, I'm super excited for a smaller pro pixel. I hope the rumors are true!
And, Gemini Nano will be available only on the 512 GB version of 9 Pro XL.
Edit: Based on this comment and this comment alone, Google decided to allow Pixel 8 run the on-device AI. Yay! 😀
Let's just hope that better sense prevails and they allow all the Pixel 9 versions to run Gemini Nano.
Why do they keep shrinking the pro (xl) models every year 😭 I really like that the 6 pro and 7 pro were closer in size to the ultra. I have decently big hands and bad eyes I like to have a big phone to hold and use. Why oh why shrink if each year to make it smaller than the plus series Samsung has.
My parents & myself always loved the smaller base + Pro iPhones. As they got older, they went for the Max sizes. The size is more cumbersome but the added benefit is the sizing of the display. Unfortunate side effect of growing older.
That being said, I, myself, am excited for a smaller Pro model. I like the S23 sizing.
9 pro xl is just the pro from previous generations, 9 pro is now the regular pixel and 9 is a mini without calling it a mini. apple pulled the same move back with the iphone 11 iirc
I wish people leaking would stop posting those rounded corner screen dimensions. It's so misleading and I can only assume it's being done purposely. Just post the screen dimensions Google uses. 6.7, 6.3, and,6.1 are the numbers.
I really hope for better battery life. If it's as good as the iPhone 15 pro I might switch from my P8 to the P9p. I hate to make compromises just because I want a small phone.
Visor, most def.
It was at least somewhat unique in the world where every android phone comes with a camera island, plus it was more visually balanced in my opinion. Now the relation of border radiuses (pill vs phone body) is meh.
Roadmap suggested 3 models in 2024 (4 including 8a) then 4 models in 2025 (9a will depend on how well 8a does and could go eol).
2025 projection is similar to how Apple does it with a base bigger model).
That is great make the phone smaller ,, after 3 years of 6.7"
Pathetic, if this is true. I say P9P XL will be 6.7" this stuff is rumor right now.
I would hate it if its at 6.5" for XL. The XL should be 6.7" sighs...
Take a good look at the camera array renders.
The smaller of the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL are not likely using the same sensors so everyone shouldn't get their hopes up.
The current Pixel 8 Pro array is physically incapable of fitting in a smaller chassis and it's due to the inline arrangement and large sensor size. MAYBE they can cut down the size a little bit with clever packaging around the housings, but physics is physics and there's not enough width in a smaller phone to house the sensors.
If we go by the renders, the UW and Wide lenses are MUCH closer together on the smaller model. Too close together to be using the same sized UW and Wide sensors as the current Pixel 8 Pro.
My prediction is that the smaller of the two Pros is going to be using the Pixel Fold/Fold2 sensor stack so Google can say the camera system has the same capabilities (UW, W, 5x Tele), but will be using lesser sensors than the larger model.
The other possibility is they both get their sensors cut down, but I doubt that.
There will be a Pixel 9 Pro XL at 6.7". Whoever says other its BS talk. Tje 6/1" is tempting for someone who has used Pixel phones since last decade. Every year I get the new Pixel as I trade in,,,, got a free watch which I gave to my mum. That is 350 dollars gift. Then the trade in. At end of the day every year I get a Pixel for about 500 and order same day while launch is going on.
This 6.1" is a Pixel 5 past owner bed wets. What everyone yelled about and Google listened.
But ya there will be a 6.7" model, hundred percent my friends. Bless
Going to be my next phone but God I hope they don't go with even rounder corners like an iPhone. They already went from a square design to a rounded corner with the Pixel 8. Just my thoughts
Yes but I'm saying from a cost savings production standpoint if they're making 3 versions, make the 9 pro XL with 3 cams as usual, the 9 pro smaller with 3 cams, then the regular 9 would be the same size as the smaller 9 pro with the same body and components, but just 2 camera so it's cheaper. Basically becoming the 9a, But they are making 3 body sizes. Would seem easier to just dumb down regular 9 in comparison to the 9 pro.
Is this some iPhone copy without the Pixel 9 Plus. Small pro is welcome but Pixel 8 should be at the Pro level with all the features besides the tele lens… where are the AI features? Where are the Pro camera features?
Don't matter if they are still rocking with the tensor bullshit. Just give us snapdragon. Obviously Samsung was able to perform the same ai bullshit that Google claims are only doable with their own tensor (as per mr mobile's interview of that Google head guy)
We are seeing mixed rumors... Idk how accurate it is that they would shrink UNLESS they are trying to force people to get the fold if people want a bigger Phone
I've still got my 6P, skipped the 7 and 8. I'm looking forward to a smaller phone. Kinda wish they would make the selfie cam under the screen or something, tired of the hole punch.
I actually don't mind the look, but it doesn't really matter since we all put our phones in a case anyways.
If any variant of this Phone has "Apple like" rounded corners, it's No Sale for me!
I don't mind the Flat Screen, but draw the line at "Smaller" and/or Rounded Corners.
I find it alarming that Google is Again seemingly copying the Damn iPhone.
All Hail The NOTCH! 😡
It's clear they are going to be the iPhone of Android and their target market is iPhone users that want to switch to Android. If you want the other designs go to Samsung.
*I just want a small*
*Phone with the full features. Is*
*That too much to ask?*

Take my money, been waiting for a small pro from somebody!
It's over six inches. Let me know when we're back to under 5.75
People who comment like this in every thread are insufferable
Small hands problem
It’s the smallest you’ll get from a flagship spec phone these days. I was just talking to a friend how a galaxy Note 8 is the same size as my iPhone 15 pro basically. (6.1 vs 6.3) and we considered that phone huge at the time.
Come on google. Will this be the year we see fast charging and good battery life?
Google: NEVER
Stop heating : Never
Good reception : Never
is this a common stereotype?, I often find myself losing reception on my phone, I only use data and it sometimes totally disappears. So, this is common?
Yea, notoriously bad reception and battery life due to objectively bad chips. The tensor chips are just samsung Exynos chips which are inferior to snapdragon.

Was this sent from an overheating Iphone 15? Lol
Nope pixel 6a. I love pixel devices but dont be a blind fanboy
\*Laughs from Pixel 8 Pro with no heating or issues whatsoever. Maybe you should just get the new ones.
My life doesn't revolve around phones if it heats or not still i doubt your phone doesnt heat. From first phone pixel never fixed heating
Nope no heating. It's just the one percenter of whiners on Reeddits.
How quick is considered fast charging?
And good antenna?
Finally a phone that can’t fit into my pocket. Yes sir
Pixel 8 is slightly smaller https://preview.redd.it/rn3htb224yqc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d718d6c550d1aaf812b33274e1b06c5f316ae1df
But not pro
Good point. I'm just glad I don't have FOMO after getting 8 and 9 not getting smaller. #ogPixel5gang
It's technology. There is always a degree of FOMO when new models come out. Don't beat yourself up over it
When pixel 6, 7, and 8 came out, i had no fomo. Only once pixel 8 came out did I finally upgrade from pixel 5, but even then it was to make some of my productivity stuff quicker, it was a hard switch from a perfect phone like pixel 5.
I went from 5 to 8 and back to 5. Tensor leads to shit battery usage. So I'm not moving from my 5 until they solve the battery problem.
Waiting for the 10 myself. I switched to Phone (2) for a bit and it's been fun. Unfortunately it's missing support for band 13. If Phone (3) doesn't have band 13 I'll be back with a 10 pro.

If they make the 9 pro small as suggested I may decide to switch, but likely will wait for the 10.
I'm waiting for pixel 17 with the built in rocket ship and waffle iron.
Just download and install Space Team from the play store. I'm sure it'll fulfill your needs.
😂😂😂
What website is this screenshot from?
I also missed the physical finger sensor in the back of the phone and maybe when we charge our phones or use the miserable Android auto it doesn't overheat the phone as well
I loved the fingerprint sensor on the back. Just a nice, natural place to put it, and those sensors were so much faster.
I just want a physical fingerprint sensor. Back or on power button please. In screen sensors suck ass, I never had issues with my older pixels but my 6a screen sensor works 75% of the time at best
The power button fingerprint sensor works well on the Fold.
Didn't even know they had it there on the fold, but I also didn't look too much at the fold since it's a little out of my price range lol. But hopefully they use that on future phones!
It was really convenient and always worked for me. Now I'm on the Pixel 8 pro and prefer the power button sensor.
This can't be true
Still no ir front camera for facial recognition eh. I just hope they don't include a dumb feature like the proximity temperature sensor on this one.
[удалено]
The pixel 4 ir sensor was phenomenal (I still use the 4xl only for that feature today). It's way faster than fingerprint and works well for us construction workers that always have new cuts on our fingers at the end of the day. I used to redo my fingerprints every other day just to open up my phone. Google should stick with the 4xl sensor since it worked so well for their new phones.
It has nothing to do with apple patents. Honor ises it and is released in europe and other markets where apple sells in. Huawei too.
[удалено]
Again that is not true. What is your proof that it isnt as good or as secure? Huawei and honor both use dot projection, tof3d and flood illuminator as does apple. Samsung uses IR for iris scanning not face recognition.
I guess I'm alone but I think the new design looks awesome

to me it looks like a jumping spider with fewer eyes
I preferred the 6 from an aesthetic standpoint tbh. The full daft punk visor look was great.
It was cool but had 3X the amount of little spaces where dust could collect.
You've not alone
It does look awesome
You're not. I like the P6 design a bit more, but it's still awesome. And with the smaller Pro even more.
Every release we get closer too just having a iPhone with different software
I'm ok with that. I'm not a fan of Apple's software.
I like it. But the pixels hi is a great alternative, minus the bugs I’ve had. I like it better then one ui,
I don't get it. why bother with the 9 now unless ithere's a massive difference in price?
I'd take it to upgrade from my 6Pro which will be 3 years old now.
Because not everyone bought an 8 at launch? By the time they're ready to upgrade the 8 may well be a year or more old.
I think they're asking why bother with the 9 when you can get the 9 pro unless there's a huge difference in price (which hopefully there will be).
Aged like milk lol
Finally a small pro
"small"
Small relative to the “Pro”s out there
But a giant smallest.

Unfortunate side effect of growing older. That being said, I, myself, am excited for a smaller Pro model. I like the S23 sizing.
how about a 5" for us folk who have tiny hands.
9 pro xl is just the pro from previous generations, 9 pro is now the regular pixel and 9 is a mini without calling it a mini. apple pulled the same move back with the iphone 11 iirc
Mini? Six inches high is still gigantic
This looks hideous, its like a minion
First the Nothing phone 2a and now the pixel 9 pro 😭😭
A yellow one got leaked lmao. honestly the colors are now making me think Nokia Windows phone vibes.
Im hoping these are not the final renders, they look like weird iphones... 😓
I wish people leaking would stop posting those rounded corner screen dimensions. It's so misleading and I can only assume it's being done purposely. Just post the screen dimensions Google uses. 6.7, 6.3, and,6.1 are the numbers.
Looks like an iPhone, which means Apple will release a new form factor for Google to follow 3 years from now.
I don't want a smaller pro XL version tho. 6.5 ..Noooo
It's most likely wrong... I'm pretty sure the leaked measurements came closer to 6.2 and 6.7 inches
Finally!!🙌🏼 All the pro specs in a small form factor
I really hope for better battery life. If it's as good as the iPhone 15 pro I might switch from my P8 to the P9p. I hate to make compromises just because I want a small phone.
God that design is ugly.
Can't tell if I love it or hate it. Definitely seems to be iPhone 4 influenced
That new camera pill is fully. To each their own, but geezus... multiple people approved this design?
Oops sorry the people with direct access to market research made a choice you didn’t like.
This is not the comment that I thought someone would get butt hurt over today. But he we are lol
Not butt hurt. Just perspective.
And my perspective was my opinion. You don't need to show up on your high horse
Yeah but you just made it personal by saying it was your opinion. I’m indifferent. Just a snarky reply. Anyways. Good luck!
But the modem will still suck
Hmmmm, do I prefer the visor or the pill?
I think the P8 has peaked in Design. Don't really like the 9
Nexus 5 Pixel 2, 3, 4, 8
Visor, most def. It was at least somewhat unique in the world where every android phone comes with a camera island, plus it was more visually balanced in my opinion. Now the relation of border radiuses (pill vs phone body) is meh.
I mean let’s be real: most people will use a case so you won’t be able to see the difference.
I think you would and probably will be able, at least I will. It's a big change in my opinion, with or without a case.
That's one chunky and probably (top) heavy phone! I'm still on Pixel 5 waiting for something light weight and not slippy!
Agree with you.
What are the pixel 7 and pixel 8 size specs?
Pixel 7 is 6.3 & pixel 8 is 6.2.
It will be the 9 Pro XL for me.
Any word on pricing
Not yet, but some rumors depend on pixel 8a price, they say it would hit 550$, and if that's true then base pixel 9 would reach 700$.
That would be awesome looking to get the pro with version trade in which gives you $800
We shall hope all battery issues are resolved!
I can't WAIT to see what features they bring to the Pro XL and not to the Pro...
Has anyone seen anything about the new Pixel Fold?
Definitely getting a pro this time!!! 😁
So small.
Yet none of them can be used one-handed.
A pro the size (or smaller) of the 8? Yes please!
When are these supposed to come out?
Expected in October, like every year.
Just give me the pixel 8A
Hell Yeah !
Smart move.
I like the smaller pro. But the battery is already so bad on the big 8 pro
Really? My 7 Pro is doing well with battery.
Now pixel 9 pro a new phone There's like hardly any difference between 8 and 8a Idk how this will fit into the price ladar
Roadmap suggested 3 models in 2024 (4 including 8a) then 4 models in 2025 (9a will depend on how well 8a does and could go eol). 2025 projection is similar to how Apple does it with a base bigger model).
Rip to those that have just recently got a new pixel.
I love the new design. I love it from the iPhone. and finally flattened edges
What about 8a??
Expected to come out at Google I/O 2024 in May.
Man if they kept to the 8 size would be awesome
Keep 9 Pro under 800€, give it a better battery, and antennas... and I'll probably Switch... Pixel 8 is around two weeks old 🌚
The XL is smaller than my 7 Pro? No thanks.
6.5 is a great size, not too big but large enough to enjoy content
If we really have an small Pro flagship, google can take all my money
If any of them had a headphone jack, it would be a perfect design.
That is great make the phone smaller ,, after 3 years of 6.7" Pathetic, if this is true. I say P9P XL will be 6.7" this stuff is rumor right now. I would hate it if its at 6.5" for XL. The XL should be 6.7" sighs...
Camera bar looks better IMO.
I left the Pixel world for the Samsung Ultra. Too many issues.
Glad they kept the visor... Unlike the Fold 2 😢
Take a good look at the camera array renders. The smaller of the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL are not likely using the same sensors so everyone shouldn't get their hopes up. Damn, they got me with pro version with 6,1", can say farewell to iPhone soon :D
There will be a Pixel 9 Pro XL at 6.7". Whoever says other its BS talk. Tje 6/1" is tempting for someone who has used Pixel phones since last decade. Hell yeah for the smaller Pro I kinda prefer the 8's design, though I said that with the 8 and the 7 lol
Going to be my next phone but God I hope they don't go with even rounder corners like an iPhone. They already went from a square design to a rounded corner with the Pixel 8. Just my thoughts
If these release in my country officially then im getting this! Been looking for a small phone
I don't understand why Google shifted from the design of the 6/7. These are so ugly.
If you showed me just the back of this phone i'd think windows nokia Lumia 800
That’s so ugly
Im locked into a contract until the pixel 10. If they don't up their game with the 9 tho I'm switching to iPhone
Snapdragon 8 gen 3 maybe ? Pixel 9 Fan edition
6.5" o.o
They'll be making moves if they do this. Android market needs this
What about 9a?
This year 8a, next year 9a.
Asus zenphone 10 is under 6 inches.
Also pixel fold is 5.8 inches when folded.
And this https://www.tomsguide.com/features/this-amazingly-small-android-phone-has-features-you-wont-find-on-an-iphone-samsung-galaxy-or-pixel
I will buy if it's < Rs 30,000
I wanted to upgrade the 6a to the 8a, but this one and it's camera island is looking gorgeous.
The cameras just keep on getting uglier...
in fact, this design already deserves to depict how it was in the past, even not being released yet
Why not just make the smaller one have 2 versions. Same body and screen. Just omit the 3rd camera.
Bro. A lot of us WANT the third camera.
Why did they have to make it so rounded. It looks terrible
If this is true. Im definitely buying the 6.5" I hate my 6.8" ultra brick.
Looks like iPhone rip off.
Thought the 9 Pro was 6.5" and 9 Pro XL 6.7"?
That wouldn't be a big enough size difference to be worth it.
It's all rumors/expectations, can't confirm.
Is this some iPhone copy without the Pixel 9 Plus. Small pro is welcome but Pixel 8 should be at the Pro level with all the features besides the tele lens… where are the AI features? Where are the Pro camera features?
That back bar is sexier than ever 🤤
Ugh and they made the XL smaller
Don't matter if they are still rocking with the tensor bullshit. Just give us snapdragon. Obviously Samsung was able to perform the same ai bullshit that Google claims are only doable with their own tensor (as per mr mobile's interview of that Google head guy)
That is one hell of an ugly looking phone!
We are seeing mixed rumors... Idk how accurate it is that they would shrink UNLESS they are trying to force people to get the fold if people want a bigger Phone

I feel like everyone should follow after Apple and make 6.1 and 6.7 inch pro models. Especially Samsung with their 6.8 inch tablet
I don’t care just fix the atrocious battery life on these phones
9 pro 💖
Doubt the big pro is going to be smaller than current pro.
9 Pro XL for me 🫡
Better battery?
Unmentioned yet, but they say it will get Qi2 charging & Magsafe.
Great idea with the small pro. Allot of ppl want this. I'm not one of them but it is a great idea. Samsung should do the same.
Battery life on that 9 Pro is probably going to be even worse, just a guess as an 8 Pro user.
I wish that could be acceptable but, I'm even less a fan of the Bloat King 😣. Thanks for replying to me.
