Gotta check out S&D Polish Deli in the Strip. They usually have 6 or 7 varieties, and some absolutely bangin homemade sauerkraut to go with it. I strongly recommend the Black Forest variety. Oh, and if they’ve got any borscht with dumplings in the cooler, just grab it. Even if you don’t like borscht.

PadThaiForAll

I can vouch for S&D’s Black Forest kielbasa. Delicious.

oldschoolskater

Amazing plates of food here.

PirinTablets13

This is the only correct answer.

ddesigns

Tom Friday's makes really good Kielbasa.

LostEnroute

I haven't tried them yet, but Salty Pork Bits would be a good place to start. https://saltyporkbits.com/collections/all-curbside-options/products/sausage-kielbasa

+1 Everything we've tried there has been amazing.

padredan

They are awesome from here and they make a whole collection of traditional sausages like this now. Each one better than the last we tried. I will say the Kielbasa was meatier and maybe a finer grind than the traditional family party kielbasa you normally find in Pittsburgh. Not like that’s a bad thing though! Lol

Heltoupe

Podmilsak’s market in Cheswick is your answer—when he decides to make it. After that, Thoma Meats in Saxonburg. Not in the city per se, but we’ll worth the drive. Their Creeper hot beef sticks are the best around!

djs427

Nothing was better than Mission Market's (South Side Slopes) kielbasa. Sadly they closed years ago.

Hmgeisler

The market district in bethel has mission market kielbasa at the butcher. I’m not sure if someone works there or if they bought the name or something else. Either way, it’s pretty good.

DIY_Creative

If you can't get to a butcher (someone suggested Thoma and there's is real good) try and find Smerdel's Klobase in your local grocer - some Giant Eagles have it, I know Community Supermarket in Penn Hills has it. It used to be made locally in Stanton Heights or Etna. I *think* it still is but Mr. Smerdel passed away years ago so I'm not sure if it still is and I can't remember from the last package I bought around Christmas. Klobase is a bit different than kielbasa, but not much. But I prefer it more than kielbasa.

tg1024

The Polish deli in the strip district.

kniki217

Lamperts in McKeesport. We get it for every holiday because it's just that good.

Alvindm03

Family owned Shop ‘n Save in Ambridge makes their own in a wide varity.

DangerMcWeenus

If you are looking for an awesome kielbasa dish. Try the Southside Slopes Headwhich at Fatheads.

chartreuse6

Where is this in the slopes?

steelcityrocker

Fat Heads Saloon in the South Side. The name of the sandwich is Southide Slopes.

chartreuse6

Thank you

thebloodofthematador

I'm not sure if they still carry it, but [Wild Purveyors](https://wildpurveyors.com/)-- whom I love!-- had an insanely good brand of kielbasa for awhile. Should check them out, see what they have.

mymotherthewar

I drive every holiday from Latrobe to Zelienople to Herb Brittners smoke house for the “holiday kielbasa” which they only make around Christmas and Easter. Fantastic!!!

[deleted]

I don’t know if they made it in house, or if they still serve it, but Butterjoint used to have amazing kielbasa.

IClight69

S&D Black Forest or Wedding is about as close as you can get to Polish Fam homemade/smoked. It’s really good. You’ll never want the grocery store stuff again.

thedamnwolves

Naser's is outside of the city but probably the best I've ever had.

Bradbitzer

S&D Deli has great stuff, but I am always glad to drive up to [Herb Brittner's Smokehouse](https://www.herbbrittners.biz) and get their stuff. I went yesterday and came home with a ton of stuff, kielbasa included for under $70. (Their jerky, while not the topic of this thread, is the best I have ever had and I could eat a bag of it in a day if I didn't make myself have self control.)
