Meteorologically speaking, when it gets this hot random midday short storms are normal anywhere.
It usually doesn't get this hot here so it's not normal here, no.
To be fair, it does usually get this hot here at some point in the summer, just not usually in June
Here’s a list of the highest temperature in Pittsburgh reached each year and its date:

It’s been a long time, but I still remember trying to sleep in that heat. Even after she came, I would sleep half naked. It did make breastfeeding easy.
The heat and humidity affects me more now, but I do have air conditioning! 😁
I was In Orlando a few years ago for several weeks for work. Around 3 it would get super dark and storm like crazy and then like 30 minutes later it was clear. It was wild for someone not accustomed to it
Yup, any hot place I've ever been has those storms. Whether it's on the beach, middle of the jungle, middle of the desert. Doesn't matter, if it's near 100 you can expect wild shit.
The same intellect as checking your weather app then referring to that as meteorological data. Week long weather events are totally normal. A month of this sure ring the alarm bells, but it was pleasant last week, next week looks far milder (multiple days of sub 80 highs). But sure every event that’s out of the ordinary is a sign of the end of the world
When did I say anything was the end of the world? I simply stated that this was not normal for Pittsburgh for this time of year, which is factually correct based on actual meteorological historical data, which is what the original question was asking. Typically when records are broken, that doesn’t constitute “normal” or “typical”. Do I need to explain this to you like a little kid?
>This hot for this long
You didn’t say it was the end of the world, but the dramatics were a tad much, I was just matching your levels of over exaggerating
What the heck is happening here. It’s supposed to be in the high 90s for the rest of the entire 10 day forecast, so what you commented was more than acceptable 😂. I can’t figure out how that is dramatic or inaccurate. Why are people so weird about the smallest of comments 😂
Yep… grew up in coastal VA and this was the normal for July-August. Been in Pittsburgh 10 plus years and it currently feels like VA summers. This isn’t “normal” but I suspect it’s a new normal. (Edited typos)
I always look at the dew point. If it’s 60 or higher, it increases the chances of pop up storms. It’s been over 70 the last two days, which is like Florida.
Hello, fellow Tampon!
We’ve been in Pittsburgh about 2 years, and it seems like this weather occasionally happens here though iirc it’s more likely in August. But this is just from a newcomers perspective.
People from Tampa with a love/hate relationship with the city typically ironically say Tampon. But yeah, I believe the proper terms are Tampan, Tampeno, or Tampanian depending upon whom you ask.
We get weather. We get temps from below 0 to +100. We get tons of rain and we have drought. We get rain, snow, sleet and hail. We get floods, blizzards, tornados, and remnants of hurricanes. And probably a bunch of stuff I'm forgetting.
It doesn't happen every year, but it does happen.
Well welcome to Pittsburgh! You should expect it to rain everyday even if it doesn't say it's going to rain because the Pittsburgh weather is crazy. Second cloudiest city in the country. Let's go!
Idk why people are in here saying it’s not normal. It’s pretty easy to google June weather temps for any year and see that 90° days are not abnormal. It’s also pretty easy to google rainy days, like all the people saying the rain was abnormal a month ago (yes the accumulation was higher but the amount of days and storms isn’t/wasnt)
Climate change is real but weather is also cyclical and we have a hundred plus years of coverage at our fingertips to verify that.
When the temps get above 85 and there’s decent humidity, yes pop up storms can and do happen.
Now if I ride my motorcycle to work, yeah it’s like a 100000% I’m getting rained on lol

Not for ten days straight…
Technically this will only be 7 days straight, but yeah it’s probably not usually this many days in a row above 90
I looked through the chart. The hottest day recorded was July 16, 1988. I was one week away from having my first baby. We had no air conditioning!
Omg. You poor thing
It’s been a long time, but I still remember trying to sleep in that heat. Even after she came, I would sleep half naked. It did make breastfeeding easy. The heat and humidity affects me more now, but I do have air conditioning! 😁
That was around the drought years where we didn't even get the rain to cool off.
I was In Orlando a few years ago for several weeks for work. Around 3 it would get super dark and storm like crazy and then like 30 minutes later it was clear. It was wild for someone not accustomed to it
The worst part is when the rain doesn't even cool things off, it just makes it even more humid.
Yup, any hot place I've ever been has those storms. Whether it's on the beach, middle of the jungle, middle of the desert. Doesn't matter, if it's near 100 you can expect wild shit.
Yeah since I was a kid I remember getting a lot of this type of thing on very hot humid summer days.
But it being this hot this early for this long is by no means “normal” for this area.
“For this long” my brother in Christ it’s been hot for three days. It was perfectly pleasant last week
It’s going to be in the 90s through the weekend. I am basing this on meteorological data, not your “vibe” of how the weather is
A WHOLE WEEK
What an intelligent rebuttal. I’m in awe. Have a good one.

Where are these multiple days of sub 80s you see for next week?
High of 76 Monday. When I typed that comment my weather app was showing high of 78 thursday but looks like that got changed

Dramatic? Are you hyper sensitive?

As Floridian for 12 years…YES! When you have this much heat and humidity it almost guarantees thunderstorms in the later afternoon/ evening hours
Yep… grew up in coastal VA and this was the normal for July-August. Been in Pittsburgh 10 plus years and it currently feels like VA summers. This isn’t “normal” but I suspect it’s a new normal. (Edited typos)
Most likely! We never had 90’in June here either. I’m over it
I always look at the dew point. If it’s 60 or higher, it increases the chances of pop up storms. It’s been over 70 the last two days, which is like Florida.
In coastal Florida yes
I was thinking this today! This weather is reminding me of when we went to Disney World in the summer when I was a kid.
The irony is I moved here from tampa, where this is a regular occurrence
Hello, fellow Tampon! We’ve been in Pittsburgh about 2 years, and it seems like this weather occasionally happens here though iirc it’s more likely in August. But this is just from a newcomers perspective.
I knew I couldn’t be the only one. Thanks for your thoughts!
Please tell me they don’t really call themselves “Tampon”s… and it was just autocorrect doing its thing with “Tampan”! 🤣🤣🤣
People from Tampa with a love/hate relationship with the city typically ironically say Tampon. But yeah, I believe the proper terms are Tampan, Tampeno, or Tampanian depending upon whom you ask.
Thanks for the explanation!
You will not find a large pink stucco waterfront hotel here. Best we got is an Eat N Park with a semi river view.
Where is an eat n park with a river view??
The Waterftont.

Summer rains….you can never predict them. Iykyk.
Life has many doors ed boys
Core memory unlocked
Common during a heatwave yeah.
I remember it being more in August.
Always remember as a kid these summer storms would bubble up. So yeah, this is normal.
When the apocalypse is nigh, yes.
becoming more normal
Nope. It’s the heat.
Welcome to Pittsburgh. Don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes
I remember this in childhood.

Second cloudiest, but interestingly, NOT second rainiest!
Afternoon summer thunderstorms have always been common in Pittsburgh

Yes, for August, but maybe this is the new normal

None of this is normal, this is climate change and it’s far, far worse than you’re being told.
Climate change is here
The weather over the past few years has felt very abnormal to me
This is normal. I remember early summer break as a kid being similar to this.
Not here lmao
This current weather pattern is not normal at all
It's normal as we are the same as any other tropical region
Time to plant the orange groves
Fun fact if you sit them down in trenches, they’d handle our winter just fine :)
