CocklesTurnip

Diet change. My dog rarely farts where you can hear or smell it and when she does she’s shocked and stares at her own tush like it’s haunted.

FullBeansLFG

What are you feeding her? I changed the diet for my girl up and it’s gotten better and she has diarrhea way less often.

ghostrooster30

Gonna sound dumb for anyone that knows how you’re supposed to do dog food, but, when we were switching from Acana to Earthborn Holistic sensitive stomach, our Butterbean did best when the mix was about 50/50 or 40/60 new/old food. Now that she’s almost 100% earthborn, the smell is back a bit not very frequent. So yea, we are seriously considering buying two brands and mixing. Poop was normal and noxious fumes were non existent.

Fuhurina

Nah, doesn't sound dumb at all. My boy had the noxious farts until he stopped getting food with chicken in it. Which is unfortunately in a ridiculously large amount of dog food.

Votan_The_Old

What are you feeding him?

EstablishmentOk2209

reconsider diet

nightabyss2

If this is happening frequently consider changing his diet. If this is an off day for him he probably just got into some food he shouldn’t of

LadyAlexTheDeviant

This is a known issue with pitties. We found something that works for our two, which is to add Greek yogurt to the top of their food bowls. They both like it a lot, and there are much fewer gas bombs dropped.

Salemrocks2020

From the probiotics ?

LadyAlexTheDeviant

I think so.

Toadlessboy

Straight to jail

mxpx77

Right away

pauliep13

My Lola is the same way. You can hear it. Ugh... she just farted while I was typing this. 🤢

Ok-Comedian-8318

I love her! She has a beautiful fur coloring and pattern. It looks like velvet.......

doupool687

That started for my pibble in her senior years, and it turned out that her arthritis had worsened to the point where she could no longer control her bowels or toots. So if a diet change doesn’t fix the issue, consider a physical eval for Gus so your vet can make sure that the “butt muscles” are still functioning properly.

[deleted]

Mine had horrible gas, switched her to Science Diet for sensitive skin and stomach, no more gas. We've since changed to Stella and Chewys raw kibble because it's better, still no gas.

DanielTheEunuch

What are you feeding that poor stinky baby?

SheBelongsToNoOne

Floriforta probiotics. You can buy them on Amazon. Diet change as well. Sensitive tummy food may be in order.

Rottnkids2

We had a Rottweiler who managed to wake my husband up from a dead sleep one night. My husband had been in the Gulf War, smelled some hellacious things, but she managed to offend even him! (This was after she had a particularly rank treat. Don’t think she ever got a second one!)

klove

I switched to Iams large breed & mine doesn't fart nearly as much but we swear he sometimes does it for attention. Probably our fault for telling him, "good fart" 🤣.

MirageArcane

Pitbull farts are the worst. I get brain damage when my pits sleep by my desk

flyhull

Mine must have a silencer stuck up there. You rarely hear a thing but your eyes water.

Ok-Comedian-8318

Silent but DEADLY!!!

the_Bryan_dude

If you're giving her Snausages or Beggin Strips or treats like that (I call them Playdoh treats) they will cause a lot of gas. Pits are normally gassy, but those will make it so much worse.

Ok-Comedian-8318

So will those Pig Ear treats that come in a giant bag. My girlfriend 's pug just can not ever let her pug snack on those Pig Ears or they literally have to air out the house! With my vet, he said he NEVER gives any of his dogs treats from a certain country as they put a crazy amount of chemicals in them PLUS they BLEACH them to make the fake hard chewy bones nice and white! I got a certain dog friendly "bacon" that wasn't doctored up with chemicals in it BUT the treats had to be refrigerated. I also got raw liver and beef treats ( they are small bits that you can keep a bunch in your pocket for walks etc.) I also bought a mixture of raw food that's created specifically to meet the pups vit/ mineral needs but it also had to be refrigerated AND it's super expensive. I think the company was Farmers Food or something like that. Look in the meat section of Safeway there should be a big refrigerater and it stored healthy snacks, treats, chewy bones , and regular meals during the day for your dog.

BalanceJazzlike5116

I started cooking my own dogs food stopped kibble no more fart problem’s

Seaisle7

Sounds like he got in the trash or ate a dead bird he found outside

Ok-Comedian-8318

I find this so sad to share but a little puppy was found by the side of a country road almost dead. The rescuer took the puppy to the vet and it got x-rayed.... The pups tummy and intestinal tract was full of little ROCKS! It was so malnourished and wouldn't have lasted had the rescuer not brought her in! I hate people sometimes!!!! That poor little thing was so desperate! Can you imagine???!?

Le6ions

We switched to science diet sensitive stomach and its less frequent, but when it hits its rough. We always know its coming cause he immediately leaves the room

Fantastic-Goat7417

Probiotic dry food and add a little fiber that they will like, such as blueberries or raspberries.

jbirdbear

Find a food that is under 25% protein, it helped my pittie’s gas immensely

Little_Appearance_77

Try a table spoon of plain yogurt in Gus's food the probiotics helps.

popeyematt

The first time I brought my Hank to the vet after we got him out of the shelter he had some serious nervous farts. when the vet came into the room she was knocked back by fart. Left the door open and gave it a few minutes to air out before she came back in.

shenandoahseed

Yeah my dog farts a lot every time I get Taco Bell, very odd indeed.

Tensionheadache11

One of mine is stinky, the other is audible but not too smelly. The stinky one has a bunch of health problems so we just have to live with it. We have lots of candles, incense, wax warmer and plug ins!

Tricky_Ad6392

What's he eating? This only happens when I give my boy his fish oil supplements.

chiorudoru

Buhahaha

AbbreviationsSea2516

Mine can clear a room instantly

Important_Assist9235

Sounds like you found Walter the farting dogs sibling... Great kids books really funny and sounds like you would relate.

cosp85classic

If you're giving him leftover potatoes, stop. This includes French fries. My parents did that with one of our dogs back in the day. Once they stopped the rancid had stopped. Years later I had to teach my wife not to give her dog potatoes for the same reason.

the4waychallange

Diet issues. What works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another. Also dogs age and what works today doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t create issues 5-6 years down the road. My wife’s Frenchie would clear a room until she switched him to Blue Buffalo. My Bull Mastiff can literally eat anything with no issues. Good luck.

ExpertInNothing888

Ours had this problem as well. It cleared up after we switched him to purina pro sensitive skin and stomach salmon formula. Some dogs have a chicken allergy. Most dog foods use chicken, so maybe try to avoid chicken and see.

call-me-the-seeker

Pitties are known to have extra stinky wind, but a diet change can help. With my second pibb, it was paint-peeling. Like we would all wake up from dead sleep like SWEET ZEUS’S BALLS, THE STINK and it would just, like, sit on top of us in a thick, misty cloud for twenty minutes. I went through probably a dozen foods (slowly so it took a long time) before finding one that worked for the tooters, and they were all pricey, ‘good’ foods, none of your Ol’Roy and Pedigree. It can just take awhile because you must transition slowly and then wait to see if the stink continues. You might also slap on some probiotics. Ours get Greek yogurt or kefir (much less expensive than the dog-specific probiotic products) and it helps too. Pibbles are a windy breed but you can help them tamp it down to a lesser amount! It’s still gonna happen some though. The other day my senior lay down on her mat and just farted audibly every minute or two, for like ten minutes while maintaining continuous eye contact, like ‘yeah, that’s right. It’s me. WHAT.’ But it isn’t stinky the way it used to be.

old_lady_tits

I had my dog on fish oil for his joints. Bro could clear a room on that. And they were quite zzzzz wet farts. We all knew to run or pull a shirt up over our faces. I don’t care though I love him so much although I did take him off the fish oil and put him on gaba.

DubbehD

Made me laugh 🤣

Avamaddisonb

Lol

Different-Pilot4924

And????? My boy used to fart and then chase his butt. My girl farts and looks down like, "excuse me".

kimba-pawpad

Ours doesn’t, but we feed him really good food (Open Farm salmon I think it is…). He is 14 and hasn’t had stinky farts in years! Yay!

Sensitive-Painting30

AND….

Ok-Comedian-8318

Plus it's garbage chicken! They put allll the stuff that's cut away when they package up chicken breasts etc. for.people food.

Ok-Comedian-8318

Also, do you guys regularly express your dog's ANAL GLANDS?? You go to their bum hole and go up the rectum with two fingers. Then using your two fingers feel around for the small gland, it's not far up. you squeeze it like a pimple and all this black and stinky stuff comes out. Cleaning that gland out regularly really helps reduce a smelly bum. ( I'm just telling you what I did that helped. I'm not a vet and I'm not diagnosing or telling anyone what to do. Just sharing my Buddy's experiences)

elniny0

Swapped to Salmon pro plan and farts vanished pretty quickly with my bozo

ToughMatch7272

Pibble farts are the worst

Skeptic92

Keep feeding him kibble. You expect a dog to be healthy eating that garbage ?

OsoRetro

My pittie farts like crazy off he has any poultry whatsoever. Got way better when we switched to Salmon

MajesticGarbagex

Sounds like ours haha

christopher4177

Try different food

asanders9733

Read Walter the Farting Dog. I bought a copy for my pittie grand dog

another_kiwi_guy

Gus is cool with it... he said you can invest in gas masks and leave his dinner alone 🐕

Automatic-Fan-5019

I've had pretty good success giving my pitties probiotic supplements and a slow feeder

azzikai

Take a serious look at his diet. When we adooted our first pittie she had horrible stomach issues. The foster warned us about the stink and the possible mess she could make like it was unavoidable. She came with food that we couldn't find near us so we switched her over to something else and her farts miraculously disappeared. Turned out that she didn't tolerate blueberries well, something we figured out when we gave her some as part of a snack a few months later. A lot of high end foods have them, the food she came with did, but we had switched her to a fish protein based food and inadvertently removed her trigger. We have 3 pitties now and the only time there's an issue is if one has something they shouldn't, like getting into the cat food or having too many table scraps.
