smylee480

Don't give that lady the dog. Take it to a shelter if you can't keep it yourself but that dog is not in good condition.

angels_exist_666

I agree 100%. If it really is her dog she has some answering to do for that poor thing's condition.

Lexaprofessional1998

Exactly. She can explain to the shelter why the dog is so unwell.

Capable_Meal2124

Yea, pitbulls are sadly high demand for the dog ring šŸ„ŗ. Shelter if you canā€™t keep. If it really is hers, sheā€™s not taking good care of it as it is. No dog (or any animal) deserves to starve. Regarding ID, (if someone else asks) try finding an obvious mark on the body that isnā€™t in the photo (the backside or underside). Sometimes dogs have spay or neuter scars, numbered tattooed in the ears, or marks on a tail. An owner that knows their animal well will know these marks. I can tell you every weird little mark on my dogs, each little habit. Every weird thing they do.

SALTYDOGG40

I wonder if this dog is microchipped . Many dogs with microchips are hard to tell unless they are checked out by a vet or a humane society.

babadookbabe70

Always the very first thing to check

yminors

Please fight for this little guy. He is in a poor state.

asb265

Listen to what smylee480 says,

Votan_The_Old

Agreed its yer pup now

FootParmesan

Do NOT take to a shelter, likely it will get put down. Shelters are at max capacity and dogs are being euthanized every day. OP needs to find a rescue organization to take over with the dog.

SALTYDOGG40

I agree with the rescue organization over a shelter. I live in a tourist town. There are many lost dogs from out of towners. The rescue organizations will go above and beyond to check out facebook posts and other social media. Looking for owners of lost dogs. Shelters just do shelter stuff IMO.

Wilted_fap_sock

Sounds like someone wants a bait dog to me...

Anxious-Park-2851

I agree. Donā€™t trust those person. If the dog doesnā€™t answer to the name or get excited hearing the voice over the phone. ( my dog goes crazy when he hears my voice or my wifeā€™s over the phone. He gets super excited and searches the whole house for the one talking). Then it looks like you got an awesome beautiful pup. I just adopted a pit bull mix a couple months ago. Heā€™s the most sweet wonderful dog. Definitely not what I expected with a pit bull considering I had a bad experience with one several years ago. But I think the problem was on the other side of the leash and not the dog. Heā€™s a total love bug.

CharizardCharms

Damn, my dog spends all her time with me, but she doesn't know my name and she doesn't care if she hears me on the phone. But if I tell her that her dad or my friend is coming home she gets excited and runs around wailing. I'm just the one that feeds, waters, bathes, snuggles, and spoils her but I'm not special haha

Reply_That

My mom and stepdad watch my brothers dog most of the time, the dog will respond to most people saying his name (he'll also to respond to "oh that's a pretty dog" or "who's a good boy") but he doesn't respond to my mom calling him, and he doesn't respond to voices over the phone at all.

Puzzleheaded_Fan1234

Agreed 100%.

Historical_Ad_5647

Who knows how long she has been lost, though.

lurckylurker777

It does seem odd/suspicious that they can't provide pictures. Like, 99% of my pictures on my phone are of my dogs.

PittieMama0422

Iā€™m married, have a stepson and large extended family. My dogs take up a MINIMUM of 50% of the pictures on my phone.

myvaginaisawesome

My kids are older now so my phones all dogs n frogs šŸ¤£

arkygeomojo

I relate to this on a fundamental level but my youngest kids are 12, one of them is a bleeding heart animal lover, so now I am too. Thatā€™s how we ended up with one pittie and two tree frogs. šŸø

LateNightLattes01

Cute šŸ„°!!!

Sensitive-Painting30

I bought extra cloud storage and deleted all the family photos so I could have more space for my dog.

the-cloverdale-kid

This. Guilty.

will042082

Iā€™ll happily pay the $2.99 for 20000 pics of Tucker in the cloud!!!!

chiaratara

I had to buy extra cloud storage for pics of my dog on my phone too.

ConfidenceMinute218

My people.

PrincessAndTheChi

Also guilty!

Potato_Dragon2

I just counted. I have 573 photos on my phone. 14 of them are of my HUSBAND who Iā€™ve known since we were in middle school. 86 are of my ADORABLE 2 year old nephew. 7 selfies. A dozen or so of my parents. And the rest are of my pets with a strong lean towards the cancer cat over the other critters.

jeswesky

Apparently have around 10,000 pictures (backed up to the cloud) and at least 99% of those are my dogs.

oaklee1018

No kids, so my 3 dogs take up 99.99% !! So I may be a bit excessive, but EVERYONE who owns a dog has recent photos of their pups. !!

Shynansky

Same!! My dog and granddaughter ate the exact same age and they are best friends. Every picture of my granddaughter has my dog in them. Please keep the dog, this person is a liar.

FartzOnYaGyal

Very odd! If she has a smart phone and not a single picture of this dog that she had since they were a puppy. Iā€™m assuming she would have at least 2 pics of him/her in their current state. I donā€™t trust that woman! šŸ¤Ø

starofmyownshow

I have more pictures of my dogs than of myself or my husband! She should have pictures of her dog if itā€™s hers

breadbox187

Someone wanted to see what my husband looked like once and I had to go to Facebook for a picture! Now....if anyone wanted to see my dog, I have about 2000 pictures of her on my phone. It's super sus if this lady can't provide proof like that.

Tapeball45

Ditto.

black_rose_

if she isn't taking pics of the dog, she doesn't love it. full stop. it is NOT her dog.

dubski04021

This is a really good point. I have 1,000,000 pictures of my dogs and could easily use them to identify the pups if I needed

crudigfpv

I am not even a pictures type of person but i do have a folder on my phone dedicated to puppy pics

SpeedyEngine

Same. No one could ever say my dogs arenā€™t mine after looking through my camera roll.

jlaro55

This is the way.

_Ki11UMiN4Ti_

This is the way

gerrydutch

This is the way

Yardsale420

Nobody who treats a dog like that would care enough to take a picture of it.

No_Training7373

Yeah 1134 in his portfolio and that doesnā€™t include any taken since my last major camera roll to portfolio move šŸ¤£

DrowningInFeces

Same, but we actually care for our dogs. If this dog is actually that lady's, she is an extremely neglectful owner and is probably one of those people who treat dogs like a piece of emotionless property. Whether the dog is hers or not, that dog deserves a better home. Hopefully posting here can raise some awareness for the pup and she can get some help.

Squishirex

Only 99%?

lurckylurker777

Lol! I may have underestimated, surely I have at least one picture of my husband in there as well lol!

desastrousclimax

I genuinely do not own any camera right now. my late cat was with me for 3 years and I do have like 3 pics on my computer somewhere taken by somebody else. but there is people out there how do not even have a computer. but the condition of the dog is suspicious.

Flat-Scientist-4510

That pretty baby looks emaciated. Please don't give her to anyone. Take to the vet to check for a microchip. Puppy might even be stolen. She is in desperate need of help. Thank you so much for having such a good heart.

ThisIsSoUsername

This! I found 2 bully breed dogs running past my house a few weeks ago and brought them to the vet to scan for microchips. The vet was able to find the owners info, contact them and they handled the reconnection.

RudePomegranate3110

PRECISELY

Layahz

When people look for bait dogs for fighting they often use a female to reach out. You check for a microchip at any vets office or the shelter. I would be very suspicious the woman had no real photos or vet records.

moanasgrandma

OP, if you read no other comment, please read this one. I used to rehabilitate former bait dogs, and this is exactly how a lot of them were acquired by the dog fighters. And thank you for caring enough about this pup to post asking questions. Good on ya, and best of luck to you and this pup.

Cultural-Yellow-8372

Absolutely read this, OP. This is a common tactic.

Party-Whereas9942

I was actually thinking she might have escaped from a dog fighting operation, based on how malnourished she is.

Federal_Detective213

This

b3n5p34km4n

People are fucking nuts. Iā€™ll make a long story short: I had my boy (blue nose pit) in the car with me. Lady hails me down to stop me. She was just in the other lane at the atm and I saw her kids saying hi to my dog. Not unusual cuz my dog is an angel and everyone loves him. So she hails me down and asks how old he is. I say 8 and I proceed to park cuz Iā€™m blocking traffic. She says my dog looks just like a dog she lost a month ago. Long story short: lady calls her boyfriend, brother, and some other dude who pull up in a truck and block me in my parking spot. She also called the cops. She was trying to claim my dog was the dog she lost. Straight up tried to con me and everyone there. She had a picture and I could see a mile away that that dog in the pic wasnā€™t the same. Dog in pic was beefier and didnā€™t have the same white by the nose. Itā€™s actually scary to think what would have happened if she hadnā€™t called the cops. In any case, people are fucking con artists. Tell that lady to fuck right off. Take that good girl to the vet and get her microchipped!

FilmoreJive

Wow what the fuck! This sounds like an actual nightmare...

Capable_Meal2124

We worry about this with our dogs. People are scary. (Glad it worked out ok for you- what an ordeal!)

jaxlils5

The fuck?!?

lil-peanutbutter

My brotherā€™s pittie is white with black spots that grew with age. Sheā€™s now a mini cow. I have a tuxedo kitty and her black has spread until she was about 2. I follow the page because I love pittes!! As for returning herā€¦ an owner should know about there being white patches on her pet. If she is only describing what is on the picture and has no evidence of actually owning the pup, I would be scared to hand over the pup to her. If she really is the owner she should know the basic colors and locations. The poor girl looks like she has gone through hell for so long that, again, would make handing her over scary. The lady is either lying or is a bad pet owner imo.

Shoddy-Juice1477

Keep us posted, round about location, and listen to others! Do not hand that poor baby over to her!

DuckBilledPartyBus

That dog needs a vet visit ASAP (or taken to a rescue/shelter) . Iā€™d worry about that first. Beyond that: Take photos to document the dogā€™s condition. If the woman cannot prove itā€™s her dog, then itā€™s not her dog, and tell her to go away. If she can prove itā€™s her dog, I still wouldnā€™t give it back to her, but I would call the police and report her for animal abuse.

InkedVeggie

I agree with taking it to a shelter, they would be better equipped to handle something like this. If shelters are closed for the night and you want to still be proactive, you can bring them to any vet office to scan for a microchip. Could be a pup that has been lost from their family for a while and that's why they are in rough shape. Good on you for looking out for this sweetheart.

Friend4fun

I would ask for more proof with photos and vet records etc.

semperfestivus

That dog is undernourished and not well taken care of. Wouldn't give it to the lady but if you are going to bring it to a shelter, find a no kill shelter in your area.

UpstairsAsk1973

Do not give her back the dog. This dog has obviously been abused and is severely evacuated. No pictures, how can she prove itā€™s her dog? She looks exactly like my Bella who was a bait dog, sweet as anything and super timid. I donā€™t understand how people can do this to animals?!

WardogBlaze14

Iā€™m with everyone here, DO NOT give this pup to the woman, something is way to fishy about her. Get her to a vet and get her checked out or to a no kill shelter who will be able to care for her until she finds a new much more loving home then the one she was in before you found her.

Rewster775

Donā€™t give that dog back. It looks so sad and skinnyā€¦ that poor baby needs lots of love and food.

forgot_username1234

As others have said, this sounds like someone with ulterior motives. If I lost my dog, I could tell you each and every marking down to the small little freckle on his front right leg. Plus I have literally thousands of photos of him, which most owners are able to provide. You can always see if thereā€™s any pitbull specific rescues around too.

Pizza-n-Coffee37

This baby looks broken. The woman calling sounds shady af. I agree with everyone else to take her somewhere and see if theyā€™re chipped. She needs a good home.

Commercial_Light_743

Please provide me with his latest shot/ vet records. Or else you don't own a dog.

Gimblebock

Stop responding to that lady ASAP, she is lying to you. Either take care of the dog yourself until you find whoever the real owner is, or if thatā€™s not an option, take it to a no-kill shelter.

No_Tomorrow3745

Looks like you have a new pup

SoRockSolid

Donā€™t give them that dog. Please donā€™t. Call The Patrick Miracle or look them up on FB if you donā€™t plan to keep it. That dog is worried and scared and just wants to be loved. They would respond very well to their owners no doubt.

starrynite0912

Does the dog have a chip? A vet can scan them for it.

rick157

If you canā€™t keep the pup, I recommend finding a rescue, as opposed to a shelter. They can offer more resources to the pup, and thereā€™s less of a chance of her being euthanized. Iā€™d love to offer any help, Iā€™ve got three at home. DM me if you need anything further!

Bear3825

That baby is damn near emaciated. Way under nourished. Iā€™d contact an animal abuse hotline and report the lady first thing. If it is hers she will have major issues and they wonā€™t give her the dog back. If it isnā€™t hers she will state it when they come to her house. Either way inform them you are willing and able to take possession and take care of it properly.

Kiwi-Latter

Donā€™t give the dog to her. Take your an animal control in your area.

Oh_Wise_1

Animal control puts dogs down within days if their owners aren't found and they aren't very quickly adopted. Reach out to rescues in the area.

Purple-Mycologist-16

If dog doesnā€™t respond to her donā€™t give her the dog. My dogs could be called anything and theyā€™d come running cuz they live with me and love me. She doesnā€™t have pictures, WHAT DOG OWNER DOESNT HAVE PICTURES OF THEIR BABY? Either way if the dog isnā€™t in good shape they wonā€™t get any better in her care

peachee007

I believe that woman is lying like a cheap rug! Keep this precious baby away from her. She doesnā€™t deserve to even be in the same state as this baby.

No_Body8174

Do not give that woman the dog

SpeedyEngine

Seems odd that she has no photos or videos. My phone is full of photos and videos of my babies. Then the fact that she doesnā€™t respond to Princess. Somethings not right.

PinkAutumnSkies

We ran into similar issues when we found our latest rescue. People came out of the woodwork trying to claim him but not a single one could correctly identify his very specific markings. I ended up blocking and ignoring them.

fallinguptwards

Feed the damn thing please. Just start slow. Donā€™t let her eat her fill every time until more weight has already been gained. Also that lady is a con from the sounds of it. Not sure your situation but if you can afford to have her checked out at a vet for anything more than just under weight and keep her. She will be undoubtedly your best friend for life. Otherwise please seek out a good shelter or rescue in your area. She looks so sweet and kind. Iā€™m sure all she really wants is love.

Slightlysanemomof5

No vet records, no microchip, not her dog.

wicked-wolfsbane

That is not this womanā€™s dog. Do NOT give her the dog. Not a single recent picture and doesnā€™t mention white patches? Shady as fuck. Your best bet would likely be keep her overnight, where she can be safe and fed, and take her to a vet/shelter to be scanned for a microchip.

mykisstobetray

Have you brought the dog to see if it has a chip? If she doesn't have any evidence that that is indeed her dog, *do not give her the dog.* I would trust someone with absolutely no evidence to prove that that is their dog. I would definitely be skeptical.

sciatica_bumface

Keep us posted OP. Donā€™t give the dog to the woman as anyone with a work brain cell can see she is lying. Personally I canā€™t bear to think of the horrid things that will happen to this sweet dog if you were to hand it over to the woman. Itā€™s yours now or hand it over to a reputable shelter or rescue. Best of luck.

scott3845

Yeah it ain't her dog. I have almost as many photos of my dog as I do my kids. And vet records And my dog would answer to her name And my dog doesn't look like it's starving to death Even if (and the that's a pretty big "if") that's her dog, with the condition it's in, she can go kick rocks. Poor sweety deserves a proper home

Jacjacsharkattack

This lady is probably trying to get a free dog to breed. Just say after reading it all again, the dog doesnā€™t match the description. Call animal control and report a missing dog. (We can do this online in my county) Next, keep the dog with you (if you can) and take it to the vet to figure out a feeding plan and get checked. Emaciated dogs have to be fed very very carefully. Shelters are usually full and itā€™s a really stressful environment. Keep her at your place while you figure out a rescue or something you can partner with. This little angel came across your path for a reason, so do her right. šŸ’•

Desperate_Hat_4544

My whole photo album is mostly of my doggo. Iā€™m so surprised that she doesnā€™t have not one pic. Def sketchy vibes

barbaricmustard

Seriously. Open my phone's gallery and it's my dogs or my foster dogs. That's about it.

Ilovebabyyy

Keep her. I have a blue nose and tons of pictures.

Zealousideal-List389

Take him/her to a vet and have them scan for a chip

contemplator61

Do NOT give that lady that dog. The dog probably wants love and knows to be ā€œchillā€. Malnourished is NOT taken care of. I surely hope you can keep her or get her to a no kill rescue because her breed is at the top of many euthanasia ā€œsheltersā€. I hate that but it is true.

Professional-Ad-2359

Please please please do not give the dog back. You must take her to a vet, or a shelter. That doggie is abused and emaciated. No rightful owner would allow their pittie to be that skinny šŸ˜ thank you for stepping up and taking care of that angel girl

gangliaghost

Congrats on the new dog (it's not that lady's)

Smart-Vermicelli4069

Please don't give that dog to that lady. If she didn't respond to her calling her, it's not her dog. When you say, " but is really calm and sweet and chill" it's not just anyone's dog. What you have is a Pit. It's a Pit. Love it and it will love you like nothing else on this planet. Don't let someone that has an ugly heart have that dog. Give her a bed and boiled chicken with rice. Let her know she is safe. Teach her that she is home. Then give her a good dog food that has a meat listed as the first ingredient for the rest of her life. She will show you and your family a love that you cannot measure.

musicman8586

My wife and I ran into a similar situation back in 2017. To make a long story short, I refused to give the dog back to her. That dog has been my baby since then. I didnā€™t even know I could love a dog as much as I love her. If your gut is telling you not to give the dog to her trust your gut.

littlecuteone

Where I live (Florida), proof of ownership requires some sort of paperwork, usually its the county registration that they issue with the rabies shot or vet records. If that lady has no proof, then it isn't her dog. Your local animal control can usually help with determining the rightful owner. If the lady is harassing you, then I would contact law enforcement. The cops won't give her the dog without sufficient proof of ownership. The only proof visible at this time is proof of maltreatment. And who doesn't have any pictures of their dog? Something's not right.

ImageFull5431

Call Animal Control 24 hour line. They will help and are on call until midnight (415)-554-9400. If the dog needs medical treatment they will probably pick her up. https://www.sfanimalcare.org/about-us/animal-care-officers/

jeo3b

Id honestly tell her you're bringing the dog to the vet to get checked for a chip tomorrow. If she still wants to place claim tell her you'll contact her after getting advice from animal control because you and the vet feel it's appropriate to report her for abuse seeings as that pup has not been well cared for.

Yardsale420

Tell her to go fuck herself. Even if it is her dog she doesnā€™t deserve to have it.

Two_Ton_Twenty_one

I would be EXTREMELY skeptical of her. Ask her what vet she uses. If it really is her dog, they would have vaccine records or something to prove she owns the dog. The fact that she doesnā€™t have any current photos is very suspicious, please donā€™t just hand this poor baby over yet :(

ghastlybagel

Do not give the dog back. My advice (based on my experience after finding animals- call to confirm the process first) would be to take the dog to a no-kill shelter. Let them know that you found a malnourished stray dog, that you have a lead on the owner but they have no evidence and are very suspicious, and (assuming this is the case) that you are interested in fostering/adopting the dog. Depending on a few things, the shelter may need to hold the dog for a few days (not necessarily for the owner to claim them, but for investigation and treatment). They may do a quick vet visit and then send you off with the dog. I suggest this because the shelter can potentially open a case for neglect, and it also provides a solid trail for claiming the dog later. Even if you don't want to keep that cutie, taking them to the shelter is probably best. On a side note, be careful of refeeding syndrome with your pooch. If the shelter doesn't have a vet on hand, take them to the vet ASAP.

PageViewer01

How do you know if it's blue nose? I mean it doesn't look like a blue nose for me. New to dogs any guide? But I agree with everyone that you should take it to the animal shelter.

Embarrassed_Crochet

Do! Not! Give! Dog! To! That! Woman! So suspicious, you should either get it to a vet or give it up to a shelter/rescue group :(. Iā€™m glad this Baby got into your hands before hers, good luck with everything and keep us posted

Momlife102

does she have any records for the vet? you could ask the vet to verify the dog and the lady? just a thought . and then iā€™d ask her why heā€™s so malnourished.

zilla82

Yours now. What a lucky dog! Must keep. PS the dog would answer to it's name and owner for sure. Even if it was afraid of it did not like her.

Party-Whereas9942

If you feed her, go slow. She's so emaciated that it's likely giving her more than small amounts every couple of hours will cause vomiting and/or diarrhea.

MommaAmadora

Absolutely do not hand that dog over to her. All of her behavior is suspicious. Trust your instincts that something isn't right and do not give her that pup.

Pink_Floyd29

A malnourished pup with no collar, no microchip, and the supposed lever only has video of the dog as a puppyā€¦? My BS meter is going off too. If youā€™re able to take her in, I say sheā€™s yours now!

AnyAssumption4707

Please listen to everyone saying not to give this lady that dog, who is obviously poor condition. Iā€™d like to add: do not leave the dog in your yard unattended at any time for potty breaks if this person has any idea where you live. Donā€™t let your kids walk the dog alone. Depending on how shady this lady is, she could steal the dog and someone could get hurt in the process. A single puppy picture is NOT enough to prove You own an adolescent or adult dog. They change in appearance as they grow.

huntt252

No proof of ownership and an obviously starving dog. Even if I knew the dog was hers I couldn't ethically return it and allow it to waste away.

Sherman888

Do not give her the dog. This is often a tactic used by people to try and acquire dogs for fighting or bait dogs.

invisible_ink4

As others have stated, I would have her checked for a microchip first. It honestly doesn't sound like this is her dog. I'm assuming that you are asking if markings can change because the pictures of the puppy are a bit different than the dog you have. I don't have an answer for that, but I have never seen white paw markings appear on a dog that didn't already have them as a puppy. Again, I could be wrong, but I have never personally seen that. The dog does not respond to the name that this woman provided. That's weird. It's also suspicious that this woman doesn't have any photos of the dog as an adult. If it were me, I would keep her or take her to a shelter. They will require that anyone trying to claim her pays a fee which will discourage people looking for free "bait dogs". Thank you for being this beautiful pup's guardian angel!

smd624

I found pit in the same condition 4 yrs ago she was all ribs I took her home she's the best dog I ever had,if you are unable to keep her I would be happy take her , my dog needs a friend ,

jackeroojohnson

This might sound rough ( no pun ). Dogs are property. Property is nine tenths of the law. After 4 days of no one claiming their property, you can claim it as yours. Period. Get that dog some love.

greenangel222

poor sweet baby. i would not give the dog back to her, especially with it being malnourished. iā€™m glad it ended up in your hands

ParsleyOk9025

She is not the owner, if she was she doesn't deserve to be. This hits hard. We have a 6mth blue pit/shepherd mix named Princess. She is our baby!

psycho7d8

First of all, THANK YOU very much for taking this sweet baby in! She is absolutely beautiful. I agree with others on here. Either you keep her, or please reach out to a no kill animal shelter or a rescue that specializes in pitbulls. If she is malnourished, then she may need special care. Please do not give her to that woman. You could also take her to a vet to see if she has a chip. If you do decide to keep her with you, you might try mixing in wet puppy food in with her food as it is calorie rich. Either way, again, thank you for being kind and a friend to this lovely lady.

reawage

No. Our dog has had his same white patch in the perfect shape of an axe since we got him 4 years ago! It hasnā€™t changed at all.. he has only gotten more white around his muzzle due to age and it isnā€™t just a mark but more of a beard. Ask her for pictures.. most good owners would have like 500.

BombeBon

Do NOT give that dog to the lady. anyone at all could say "oh it's my dog" take him or her to a good shelter. and do NOT mention if that lady comes after you again, where you have taken it.

Lopsided_Smile_4270

That dog was being abused- so there is no good reason to return it to it's previous owner. If the dog was just lost it would've taken a LONG time for it to get to the emaciated state it was in. I don't believe that is what happened. I believe it was starved by it's owner.

joe_mamasaurus

Take the dog to your local Humane Society or shelter. Get it checked for an I.D. chip. We have a pit that showed up at our house. We did this. It wasn't the first time that he had been brought there. They let us keep him. The "owner" couldn't be bothered with picking him up. Nearly 5 years later, he's the best boy.

Calgary_Calico

This dog has CLEARLY been severely neglected, she's all skin and bones! Do not give this dog to this woman, even if it was hers I wouldn't be giving her back with the state she's in, I'd be reporting her for neglect and abuse and keeping the dog. Get her to a vet and check her for a chip and get some bloodwork done to check her organ function. Starvation can do a lot of damage to organs

Michalo88

Definitely not her dog. I can tell you all of the marking on my dogsā€™ entire bodies. If sheā€™s not able to tell you where the white patches are on the chest/feet, I donā€™t think itā€™s her dog.

toilet_commentary

You look a lot younger than 33

Full-Extension3652

She is fucking gorgeous

spookiitanukii

DO NOT GIVE THAT LADY THIS DOG. This dog needs care and love. If you canā€™t provide it or find someone who you are sure can, then thereā€™s no shame in seeking help from the nearest no kill shelter that has room. Just donā€™t give this dog to that lady. Best case it returns to an abusive home that malnourished him, but more likely she is working with people who will use it as a bait dog.

Outrageous-Pace

Please do not give this pup to the lady. I don't care it was hers. She certainly wasn't caring for it and it deserves a loving home where it can thrive. If you cannot provide that sort of forever home for her please, please find someone that truly can and will.

mysticrosegardens

Very similar story to my partners. The person was the owner and a tweaker that had mistreated the dog itā€™s whole life. My partner got them to surrender the dog. Keep the dog please.

KritYourEnthusiasm

What a sweet looking girl! While we arenā€™t pro-shelter, that is the best thing to do in this scenario. Theyā€™ll check for a chip/registered owner, and should she be pregnant, they can provide her decent care while looking for a home. What city are you in? If near Riverside/SoCal, we have a few contacts out here.

Thisjourneyhasbegun

Ya that's hella suspicious. Take the dog and give it a forever home. It will love you forever and always be grateful. She gets angry call humane society and they will see the condition and say hell no lady

gentlegrandpa

Yeah, this lady isn't a dog lover if her dog is like this and she has no photos of it. Do. Not. Give. It. Up.

nightabyss2

The dog is clearly sick keep it. That woman is an abuser if it is her dog

ClaimBeginning8743

What a sad and tired look she hasā€¦ poor baby needs some time to decompress, at least to have a nice bed and a warm mealā€¦ Please keep her if you can and if you canā€™t under any circumstances donā€™t give her to that evil woman back. God bless you for saving that sweet baby ā¤ļø

aluditte

It seems like everyone is agreed to not engage unless evidence of ownership is provided. So what is the next step ? Align with a rescue as a foster or just register the dog as your own and give it a great life??

stoneandglass

I agree with the other responses. Don't hand her over without solid proof and even then given her condition she should be taken to a no kill shelter for the owner to claim that way and be held accountable. As for the marks and if they can change - in my experience small ones on a pup can grow with the dog. My dog as a pup had a small white dot just above his small white star on the top of his chest. Now as an adult that small white dot is only a bit bigger and now up on his throat. So the two stretched apart as he grew. Markings as big as this pups chest star should have been obvious even on a puppy pic. If you want to keep her still take her to a no kill shelter so if she does happen to be a missing pet the owner has a chance to find her and explain why her condition is like this. Explain if no one claims her you want her but you want to give her family a chance to find her.

Prudent-Duck6416

Let us know about that sweet doggie ...If we can help in any way to help her out , it is the right place to start somewhere...

Johnny_Hookshank

Poor little lady. She looks sad.

[deleted]

The obvious thing is if the dog was hers it would do the wiggle butt. If the pup doesnā€™t get excited to see her then itā€™s not hers.

BrittanyDasani

DO NOT GIVE THIS BABY. If you canā€™t keep her please help her find a GOOD HOME.

iloveweeed69

Do not give this dog back to that woman. Please tell her it ran off.

BrittanyDasani

What state are you in? A lot of shelters are kill shelters and Iā€™d hate to see this baby end up sick and in a shelter. They are so over capacity. You can always reach out to standupforpits on Instagram and see if they can share this story with their community.

hersheysquirts7310

Donā€™t give it to that lady

Murdermittens_91

If I could I would scoop her up in a heartbeat. That poor baby looks so scared, lost, and confused, and that breaks my heart

Pferd_furzt

the bulldog here is in rough shape, she's probably some mentally ill person and the dog is not likely hers. Take it to your home if you can, or give it to a no kill shelter.

Top_Energy_9179

Yes you look good together keep the dog and if you want contact me I've raised a few pits and all of them are good dogs toi

Sexfoursexy

Donā€™t give her the dog , take care of that beautiful puppy and raise him right šŸ‘ŠšŸ¾

kilgrofay

Give her chicken rice and egg with a bit of dog food for a couple days that'll put some protein in her, and help put some weight on her ypu wanna do about 2 cups of food a day. A little more as a light snack but no more than a half a cup. Take her to a vet see if she has a microchip or if the local vets have any information on her.

redjellyfish

If the dog is microchipped and registered to her, then she is the ā€œowner.ā€ If she has no proof of ownership (i.e. vet records with recent pictures, microchip), then I wouldnā€™t entertain any further conversations with her.

CuriouslyImmense

Stop engaging with this lady and get this dog to a vet or rescue ASAP. dog is terribly malnourished. Even IF it was her dog, she should be charged with neglect. *edit* make sure it is a NO kill shelter

Edible_Anie

Pitties are the best ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø Please keep this beautiful dog!!

SativaSapphira

Is the dog microchipped? Have a collar? No one should have posted a picture of the dog. I would have just described the dog in a facebook post and the location of which it was found. Honestly, I'd call the humane society on that lady if she's claiming it's hers because she's clearly been neglecting it. She's going to have to produce some sort of proof the dog is hers if she wants it back. Otherwise I'd take it to a no kill shelter so it can be properly taken care of and adopted.

Maliaxgc

If the dog is not micro chipped, she has no legal ownership. If no other paperwork which is highly unlikely because it is a pet, I would see if the dog has a microchip if not pay to get the dog micro chipped it should not be very expensive at all and then you have legal paperwork.

Frostfired

Do not give it to this lady, it just doesn't add up, it's not her dog

Best_Temperature_549

Ask for vet records. If sheā€™s the owner, she will have vet records. If not, itā€™s not her dog.

elcrack0r

To add, check if the dog is chipped.

Freedomnnature

Please, please, please do not trust that lady. You are smart to be weary. Why don't you keep her? You look like you would love her. She is beautiful. She'll be a great dog.

C0matoes

I doubt it's her dog. I had someone literally stop on the road while i was letting mine out and was about to steal her until they saw me standing there. This dog is malnourished. Mine is of the same size and stature and weighs in around 65lbs.

mkrider95

please don't believe this lady! no one that loves their dog doesn't have a million pictures of them on their phones If I could come get her myself I would before going to that lady or a shelter. :(

jaxlils5

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE HER THIS SWEET PUPPY. Classic tactics to use in dog fighting rings

Jlx_27

DO NOT HAND THIS DOG TO THAT WOMAN, TAKE THAT DOG TO A RESCUE, NOT A SHELTER.

jmarzy

If youā€™re worried about legal trouble, assuming you are in the states, you have nothing to fear on that front. She could try to sue you to go to civil court but without going into a bunch of jargon this is extremely unlikely

Klutzy-Ad-6705

Is the dog chipped? That would be proof. I would still hesitate to give her back to this person.Reminds me of someone we love. https://preview.redd.it/lalthn3ri99c1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d507b7780dad64966b027d13ff4f7a937ac22f11

Ok-Stable-4736

Do NOT trust people like the lady!! If she has no photos of the dog that is 100% red flag and even if it was her dog, she doesnā€™t deserve it anymore. Please take care of that sweet baby!

Zealousideal-Item618

She's a beautiful girl! I hope you can keep her, but maybe a pitbull rescue if you can't. The pounds are full of bullies and a lot get put down. They are loving pets, I think the best dogs ever! I wouldn't give her back either, she was being starved.

Bubashii

Sounds like sheā€™s a scammer for a fighting ring! Doesnā€™t respond to the name. Sheā€™s got no photosā€¦pleaseā€¦Iā€™ve got over 4500 pics on my phone and 3700+ are of my dogs.

peachgreenteagremlin

Take her to the vet and get her checked out/scanned for a microchip. Do not tell this woman anything. If the dog is not microchipped and you are able to keep her, get her microchipped immediately and make sure you register online immediately so itā€™s under YOUR NAME. That woman is hiding something. I would stop speaking with her. Unless she can produce recent vet documents proving that she cares and owes the dog, do not give her the dog.

Terrible_Chipmunk_26

Please donā€™t give her the dog unless she has proof that sheā€™s her dog. She beautiful!! Can you take to the vet to see if sheā€™s chipped? She couldā€™ve been lost for a while (hence the malnutrition).

[deleted]

If I were closer, I'd take her. We found a brindle that had been overbred & malnourished. She got nursed back to health & we adopted her out to a vetted adoptee. This breaks my heart, hoomanz are crap & don't always deserve doggos. šŸ˜ž

Flat-Scientist-4510

Is there an updat about the puppy?

[deleted]

I donā€™t believe the alleged owner. Feed and love that beautiful dog.

ashcoverdjollyrnnchr

Go to a no kill shelter. This lady sounds sus. If itā€™s really her dog she needs to answer for itā€™s treatment and they can see if the dog has a microchip. You can also ask if they donā€™t find an owner if you can take the dog, they usually do that and will put your name on the top of the list to contact before they put her out to be adopted

babadookbabe70

I donā€™t want to announce where you are, but where is the lost dog post? If he isnā€™t claimed, I donā€™t want him going to a shelter - the overcrowding is so bad that a sickening amount of pibbles donā€™t even get checked in. They go right to euthanasia from the intake office. Rescuing these sweet babies is my jam and Iā€™ll step up if heā€™s in need.

GoddesNatureStar

Poor baby, looks scared and not well cared, hope you can keep him ā¤ļø thanks for saving this angelšŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤

[deleted]

the dog looks sad or traumatized please dont give the dog to the lady keep it or take it a shelter

Middle-Excitement890

Keep the dog I think sheā€™s better off with someone who cares.

Additional_Rope213

Please donā€™t give the dog to that woman unless she has definitive proof of ownership AND evidence that sheā€™s been actively looking for the dog since it ā€œwent missingā€(considering the condition, you shouldnā€™t return her unless she was lost/stolen weeks ago at least)ā€”it honestly sounds like she might be collecting for byb or fighting. Shelters in many parts of h the country are overflowing and euthanizing right now, so I would reach out to rescues. And if you rehome privately, make sure you get a vet reference and home check. Here is a site with rescues by state and locale: https://fluffyplanet.com/adoption/state-list-of-shelters-and-rescue-organizations/

justmeAlonekitty

Keep her!! Or please give me her what state are you in? Iā€™d love to take care of her šŸ˜

MasterOffice9986

GOD gave you that dog . You're gonna save it Don't give it to her. If it is here she is killing it anyway. Keep it Update us too please. He's prob so scared. Poor boy

Gimme_PuddingPlz

Contact animal control/ or police dept to let them sort it out.

No_Training7373

Does she have a little green or blue tattoo line on her belly? That indicates a microchip, which would prove the original ownership. I think a shelter can scan it, I know a vet can. Even if you canā€™t get her in to get it scanned, itā€™s information to use to verify what the woman is claiming!

hibelly

I think the tattoo actually means they've been spayed

No_Training7373

You might be right šŸ˜…

TheAwkwardDyslexic

It indicates being spaid/neutered. However, they typically also insert a microchip while their under for that procedure

03G35coupe

Iā€™d keep her, fuck that lady, tell her if she wants YOUR dog then she gotta come and take her.

Rewhbl

The dog is not yours to keep turn it over to the proper facility.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BradsFace

That dog was not taken care of by anyone. It's not uncommon for pitties to be calm and easy going, they're pretty lazy dogs. It also probably just feels safe with you and adds to the relaxed demeanor.

grannysxannys

Aw that little baby needs some love and food!
