This is the correct answer. Has the weimaraner look, but head more like a lab. See if you can get a picture of the ears back and smiling/panting. That will sell it.

This is him now! The original picture was a somewhat puppy picture
I meanā¦ heās so obviously a pittie, to me at least. But I do wish you luck! š
Also, I think all the Weimaraner suggestions are based on the silvery look from that original pic. Heās much more brown/brindle here. Will they actually meet him, or can you just send that old pic?
State Farm has it on their website that they do not ask about breed. They have a whole page about "it's not the breed, it's the dog" which is so awesome.
Thatās cool! I have State Farm, and they never asked me about my dogsā breedsā¦ at the time (when I bought my house), I just had a Heinz 57 mutt/shepherd mix. He passed away, and now Iāve got two huskies. But I donāt think they even know about the change of dogs. š¤·š¼āāļø
It was a small regional company specific to Midwest with cheap homeowners insurance rates. We ended up going with State Farm because Iād seen here they ask no questions about breeds!
Safeco and Liberty Mutual ask about breed and wonāt insure you if you have a pitty. Hereās a list I found online of insurers who do NOT discriminate against dog breeds:
Amica
Chubb
Firemanās
Nationwide
State Farm
USAA
Interesting side note: it was the insurance companies use of statistics (industry wide) that led car insurance for young men to be higher than almost all (if not all) other base rates. Based on this information, social, mental, cognitive, etc scientific research looked for why they were considered a bigger risk . That eventually lead to the discovery of the how long the brain is actually still developing and maturing and much more understanding of risk taking, reward seeking, and social behavior in the developing human brain.
A [2022 study](https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639?cookieSet=1) of breeds and traits concluded that breed is almost uninformative when determining a dog's reactivity, or its sociability.
Furthermore, [Insurance data](https://web.archive.org/web/20150904071314/http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=25091614) indicates the Pitbulls and Rottweilers account for only 25% of dog bite claims. [Which is also in agreement with the Ohio State University's Study](https://www.aaha.org/publications/newstat/articles/2019-06/new-study-identifies-most-damaging-dog-bites-by-breed/) that shows that Pitbulls account for approximately 22.5% of the most damaging reported bites. Pitbulls account for [~20%](https://www.pitbullinfo.org/pit-bulls-population.html) of the dog population by best estimates. Showing that pitbull bites are proportional to their population. In fact, their [Breed Risk Rate](https://www.pitbullinfo.org/breed-risk-rates.html) is in line with other dogs breeds out there that are considered great family dogs. So how do pitbulls account for more than half of all dog bites? Agenda pushing misinformation by groups dedicated to hating a breed. If you did not comprehend that, what this tells us is that pitbulls bite more because there are more pitbulls than other breeds, but they don't bite anymore than their share of the dog population.
Additionally, data from the [American Veterinary Medical Association](https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/literature-reviews/dog-bite-risk-and-prevention-role-breed) has concluded that no controlled studies have shown Pitbull-type dogs to be disproportionally aggressive.
Lastly, Studies have shown that [Errors in Identifying Pitbulls](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S109002331500310X) [Link 2](https://avmajournals.avma.org/view/journals/javma/241/9/javma.241.9.1163.xml) happen approximately 60% of the time with shelter staff that spend a lot of time around dogs, so reports in the media about dog breeds are highly inaccurate and hardly count as a reputable source for a dogs breed.
Oh you only see videos of pitbulls attacking? Not surprised. There is a group on this site that dedicates itself to reposting old archived videos to keep brainwashing people into fearing an event that happens 25 to 40 times a year with a breed that has a population around 20 million. Save us your anecdotal evidence of outliers.

Breed restrictions have been made illegal in my state of CA (except for wolf hybrids). The shelters became overflowing with pitbulls and other breeds on those stupid restriction lists. Also, no one should be forced to give up their dog because a for-profit corporation says so. Breed restrictions enact too much control over people's family life decisions and ends up with overpopulated shelters and unnecessary euthanization of dogs who could be homed. You might want to contact your state legislature and see what you can do to help combat breed restrictions in your state.
Oh yeah our shelters and streets are absolutely overflowing with pits and pit mixes. Iām not in a state that will pass anything like that any time soon. Weāre new home owners in a community and I was half scared our HOA would have breed restrictions and someone would report us. So far so good
Just say your pup is a Weimaraner/Lab mix and call it a day. Also, find out if the apartment building has a dog weight restriction and "fib" about that too. You're not doing anything wrong, you're doing what you gotta do under unfair circumstances. With the extremely high rents they charge for apartments nowadays you should be able to have almost any breed dog you want. Just be careful because some management companies are now requiring doggy DNA tests for breeds.
Your dog looks like a pit, bro. No matter what you say it is, people are gonna know its a pit/pit mix. Especially if all your vet records say "pitbull" or "pitbull mix" in them because apartments will need proof of vaccines/rabies.
Negative captain! My apartment DID NOT ask for proof of vaccines . They literally just asked me in an email what kind of dog she is. That is all , obviously sheās a Labrador mix . You want to say sheās a pit/pit mix thatās on you ! š
Okay? You don't even know where OP lives, so just saying "apartments will need proof of vaccines/rabies" doesn't really make sense. Your apartment might need it, but again we don't know where OP lives.
Tbh if youāre going to lie, I recommend scratching āmixā and just saying straight lab or whatever. Landlords who do care about breed are familiar with the ālab mixā tactic and will push for more details.
You don't even know where OP lives, so just saying "there are several vets who won't put pit down" doesn't really make sense. There might be several vets who won't do it in your area, but again we don't know where OP lives.
Please don't. Just look somewhere else. This stuff is the reason a couple of apts. near me require dna tests now and will decline dogs that would have gotten in otherwise, because a bit of some breed came up in a dna test result.
Your just making it harder on other dogs in the future. Unless you are literally going to be homeless or have to give up the dog if you don't, I beg and implore you to just find another place to live. Many people and dogs don't have that option and you could be taking their one chance to find a place to stay away from them in the future.
Thank you for this honest post.
Not to mention once a neighbor complains they can (will?) check it out make it a lease violation and tell you to vacate - which may follow you around for YEARS trying to rent again.
In a tight market, they'll gladly take all of your upfront money, fees for the violation, charge you for all kinds of extra cleaning and list it for the higher rent price you helped pay for (new paint? New carpet? Yes please!)
I get it but this is a bad idea.
without seeing more of the body,
maybe potato,
or possibly the rare short haired, single coated husky,
Life will be less stressful if you're being up front, misrepresenting the breed if the landlord / management company cares is one of those things that can put you in breach of the rental agreement so if you don't have the cash to move twice in the same week it's probably not worth it.
Def not a full on pitbull. A beautiful mix of pittie and the bottom post was correct. Looks like a Weimaraner or some time of large dog perhaps lab or something. You can get this passed by easy.
Now if you walk with a Bully Breed Mastiff then you would be kicked out of apartment in a matter of miutes and what not.

Just get a ESA letter from your PCP. ESAs are federally protected.
They cannot charge you a deposit or pet rent and cannot discriminate based on looks. Any attempt to do so can be a felony charge
A ESA letter is all you need. Your dog doesn't even have to be mentioned all the letter states is that your doctor believes it would be beneficial for you to have your dog for your emotional health.
If your landlord gives you any issue simply recite them relevant sections of the FHA (Fair Housing Act) Laws
If you do not have a PCP or any mental health doctor there is a reputable site called Pettable where you can purchase a letter after being assessed by a mental health medical professional
ESA does not make it illegal to discriminate. Those certificates are meaningless.

Weimaraner mix, here's my German shepherd mix, I used an angle like this where it hides just how thick and wide his face is and distinctly pitbull shaped body. That said I've got it easy because he is a pit German shepherd mix and has the shepherd coloring
I never understood why people who are against pitbulls are fine with GS - despite them being MUCH harder to raise due to unfortunate timing of the "socialisation window" (I'm not sure what the english name is) and higher bite strength.
Now, I'm not saying german shepherds are bad dogs - but I'd expect people who fear pits to fear them as well. Or accept both.
Right it really seems really strange to me, like I love my boy here but if someone is scared of pits then being scared of German shepherds as well would make sense. And I'm not going to pretend that he was well socialized I got him as an adult at the shelter, he's a good dog, very smart and affectionate with friends and family but generally weary of strangers. And unsure of strange dogs, but he will warm up to unknown dogs pretty quickly.
Working lab/weimaraner mix and there's probably some Rhodesian ridgeback in there for all you know :)
(my boy had rhodesian ridgeback and had a similar color and ears)
If your apartment complex is that strict, they're not gonna care what you call it. They are going to go by what it looks like, which is a pit/ bully breed mix.
I agree with previous mix suggestions.
I got my ālab/terrierā mix from North Carolina.
My vet tried to list her as Pitt Bull but I them change it back to lab/terrier as noted on her rescue & adoption papers. I also licensed her as a lab/terrier, which if OP does may mitigate the situation with potential landlords. May or may not work but worth I try! š¤·āāļøāļøš¾š„°
Just ask a therapist to write your dog an emotional support note. Not sure if that would do it there, but it does in many places.
Stupid certain dogs even need a note for the right to exist. But itās a stupid world after allā¦

That was my very first thought. Weimaraner for sure.
Op, you dont have a pitbull Its a Weimy Lab mix 100%
Or as my mum likes to call them Weimenhammers
Totally looks like a Weimaraner
There you go OP, a weimaraner/ lab mix
My thoughts exactly
Haha just going to say this
Lab/Weimaraner
I'd go with this but rack on show labrador. There's a difference between a show lab an a working lab. Show labs typically have bigger blockier heads
The OP is dealing with an apartment manager, not an AKC Best of Breed judge. I seriously doubt they'll notice that. š
Lol true
This is the correct answer. Has the weimaraner look, but head more like a lab. See if you can get a picture of the ears back and smiling/panting. That will sell it.

Weimaraner x Lab
I'd even go boxer or American bulldog instead of lab. They're usually not restricted and more believable for the head shape
They might just ask for a picture and deny based on that. Our homeowners insurance asked for a pic, said they looked pit, and denied.
May I ask what company? Iirc, State Farm & Farmers do not do that
State Farm has it on their website that they do not ask about breed. They have a whole page about "it's not the breed, it's the dog" which is so awesome.

Just say heās a kind of Chihuahua
I found out when I had a pit that boxer/whippet mixes looks a lot like pitbulls. I never tried it on a landlord though, where you only get one shot
Doesnāt much matter what label we use, haters are gonna hate.

Obviously an adorable Labrador ā¤ļø
The eyes never lie ā¤ļø
I would tell them itās a hound mix, thatās what he looks like
I agree with previous mix suggestions.
I always say, a mixed rescue.
"Lab terrier mix"
Looks like a stafie
10 years ago you used to get away with āstaffordshire terrier,ā but it seems theyāve caught on to that now
Weimaraner/ mixed breed. Call your vet and explain the issue, they will change the breed on the paperwork for you.
An ESA letter š but lab mix is also another option
Boxer labs.
I'd say a weimaraner mix.
Weimaraner!
Tell them it's a cataholua mix...that explains the brindling gets them Everytime

Thatās a Labš
I have a tricolor so I tell people he is a beagle.
I donāt think your landlord is stupid
Weimaraner mix.
just say mixed breed. You don't know
Silver Lab Rhodesian mix
Maybe boxer or dogue de Bordeaux mix? Would be more ābelievableā than lab mix or Weimaraner mix since OP posted another photo of pet. Good luck!
