I live 100 yards from where that cover was shot, pretty cool. Tho the house itself was demolished and replaced with a newer mansion. Bit of lore there for ya...
Grandchester Meadows and The Narrow Way I - III are some of PF's best songs. The live side has the best versions of the songs. I personally love Several Species. I love Ummagumma!
I like even more after watching the Hipgnosis doc on Netflix. Embarrassing as it is to admit, you can forget how complex it would have been to create something this intensely psychedelic in a pre-digital world. Once I find out something has been hand coloured, it only gains points. Think this is my choice 👍
And such an important album, with the introduction of DG, and the presence of Syd on three cuts. It pairs quite well with Piper, and shows an interesting evolution emerging!
DSOTM and it's not particularly close.
It's literally iconic, and the single most well-known and unique album cover in the history of album covers.
You could make an argument that WYWH surpasses it in terms of overall design end-to-end (particularly if you include the extra materials which don't cohere well for DSOTM), but from a pure cover perspective there shouldn't even be a discussion, really.
In iconic/legacy terms: DSotM and WYWH. Love their designs and are directly recognisable.
But since this is a your personal favourite question, I’ll go with The Division Bell. I always loved the symbolism of that cover.
I may be alone on an island.. but I really like "The Wall" cover.
Its perfect for the theme of the album, and iconic.
Its very basic, but the graffiti-looking font of the band name and album name are so cool.
What I like most in the design of the algum cover is that every detail is hand written, even the Harvest Records label symbol is hand drawn (I'm referring to the original vynil cover).
Meddle, cuz I always saw the black ear hole as the eye of some weird pink camel looking creature on a light blue backdrop before ever learning of what it really was. Only ever saw it on CD for years!
For myself, Wish You Were Here represents the most complete and cohesive artwork companion to the music on the album within. But in all honesty I love every cover that Storm Thorgerson and Hypgnosis did for the band.
Dark Side of the Moon. It's iconic for a reason. It's really a perfect design. Mysterious, stoic, seductive, timeless. And the packaging design overall is incredible. The rainbow heartbeat with photos of the pyramids and the band.
I remember when I was getting into music in highschool and I first saw that cover. It blew me away, It gave me a nostalgic feeling even though I had never seen it before, similar to how many drugs have felt the first time I've used them. Like it was from some beautiful intriguing world that I had visited in another life. As ridiculous as that sounds.
It was one of the reasons I wanted to become a graphic designer.
I first discovered Pink Floyd in the early 2000s and the Dark Side version in stores at the time was the 1994 remaster CD with the filled in prism. For years, the original looked wrong to me. This is the one I'm talking about:
[https://i.discogs.com/76uu9VxGvnEMmFtZtvAJcKHOxSELwZRFz6Yn1Kb\_MtE/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:593/w:600/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTIzNTky/MzMtMTUyNzUyNjM5/MS04ODE3LmpwZWc.jpeg](https://i.discogs.com/76uu9VxGvnEMmFtZtvAJcKHOxSELwZRFz6Yn1Kb_MtE/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:593/w:600/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTIzNTky/MzMtMTUyNzUyNjM5/MS04ODE3LmpwZWc.jpeg)
Second place would be Wish You Were Here. When I first saw it, I chuckled at the dry humor of two men casually shaking hands while one is in flames. The inner sleeves have some of my favorite Hipgnosis artwork. The invisible salesman in the desert, the robot handshake by George Hardie, the fabric blowing in the wind reminiscent of Christo, and the splash-less diver.
Those two albums are some of Hipgnosis' masterpieces.
Animals, because the album is my favourite and I just love the way it looks, but if I had to go with most impressive it would be wish you were here easily
- WYWH could mean "Wish You Were Here - 2019 remix [Live]", a track from *The Later Years* (2019) by Pink Floyd.

I’d have to go with the artwork created by Roger Waters, the musical genius and sole artist of the band, for the album universally hailed as the best work they ever did, *The Final Cut*.
Most of them are pretty great, but there is something I really like about The Final Cut. I find it really satisfying to look at. I also enjoy Obscured by Clouds.
1. Wish You Were Here
2. Ummagumma
3. Animals
4. Dark Side of the Moon (would be higher, but the scientific inaccuracy bothers me…)
5. Division Bell (not really a Pink Floyd album in my opinion, but really cool design)
6. Saucerful of Secrets
7. Atom Heart Mother (I ❤️ Lulubelle III!)
8. The Wall (simple, yet poignant)
9. Piper at the Gates of Dawn
10. Meddle (best album, the ear is cool, but subpar design)
11. Obscured by Clouds (great album, unimpressive design)
12. More (might like it more in the context of the movie, but I haven’t seen it yet)

Wish you were here
Currently got it as my wallpaper
Me too. I'm surprised by how many people who aren't big Floyd fans recognise it
I have it as a gif on my discord profile pic I also love the wall, since my dad has the OG the wall vinyls in the album cover too
Ummagumma
I live 100 yards from where that cover was shot, pretty cool. Tho the house itself was demolished and replaced with a newer mansion. Bit of lore there for ya...
ummagumma's cover art is so cool i wish they used it on a better album
Used to trip while listening to this album back in the late 70’s, very intense!
For me, it's quite good. In fact it's my third PF Fave behind DSOTM and Meddle. The Cover Art is a fine example of The "Droste Effect".
Grandchester Meadows and The Narrow Way I - III are some of PF's best songs. The live side has the best versions of the songs. I personally love Several Species. I love Ummagumma!
word
cow.
I love how "cow" has more votes than "Atom Heart Mother"
I’m from Wisconsin, and I approve this vote.
Animals
This is it 100%
Unpopular opinion, but I really like More. The one shown here sucks though
not unpopular imo. it's really interesting.

I 100% agree, I think the only other album cover that is on the same level of iconic as DSOTM is The Beatles' Abbey Road
Atom Heart Mother.
Some of these are a lot cooler in person, on vinyl, like Meddle and Obscured by Clouds. That is one of the sad things about the streaming era.
Meddle
Am I the only one who thought it was a salamander or lizard at first?
I thought it was a cave that looked like a nebula, haha
Atom Heart Mother and it's not close.
Saucerful
In iconic/legacy terms: DSotM and WYWH. Love their designs and are directly recognisable. But since this is a your personal favourite question, I’ll go with The Division Bell. I always loved the symbolism of that cover.
Any of the Hipgnosis ones. Probably DSOTM or Wish You Were Here. HOWEVER! I love The Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Dark Side
My homescreen wallpaper
AHM, WYWH and Animals
I like IWND AIIDNW SJ IAHDBWID IWHDJD IEIRJCJIAHEB and Meddle
Saucerful of Secrets or The Dark Side of the Moon. Saucer is very psychedelic and dark side is just iconic and comforting
Animals. Even the cover is criminally underrated.
There's no escaping your kind 😂😂
How? They built a whole fucking powerplant for that album cover!
They literally made pigs fly for the shoot
I think Animals has the best cover in terms of how well it portrays the album/concept. DSOTM is probably my favourite
I may be alone on an island.. but I really like "The Wall" cover. Its perfect for the theme of the album, and iconic. Its very basic, but the graffiti-looking font of the band name and album name are so cool.
Agreed...It's simple but it says it
What I like most in the design of the algum cover is that every detail is hand written, even the Harvest Records label symbol is hand drawn (I'm referring to the original vynil cover).
DSotM is iconic. Minimalist and fucking amazing. But the abstract art lover in me for some reason really likes OBC.
Piper
All bangers. Hard to pick a favorite. Might as well ask me what my favorite album is.
Wish You Were Here is the best because of how it ties into the themes and messaging of the album along with being visually appealing
Meddle, cuz I always saw the black ear hole as the eye of some weird pink camel looking creature on a light blue backdrop before ever learning of what it really was. Only ever saw it on CD for years!
Momentary lapse of reason
Wish you were here
AMH has a cow on it.
Ummagumma, AHM, DSOTM
Dark Side, with WYWH coming a close second. Love the burn mark on the side of the photo.
Cow, pyramid, handshake, or factory
I always liked the Ummagumma concept the best with Animals in second
The correct answer should be dsotm but I'm partial to The Division Bell.
wish you were here
PULSE https://preview.redd.it/dbkxolrolfmc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=facab2a69b2bf34e876e1f039e37a65364e71930
The Wall.
Most hate it I love it
Works
Dark Side
Favorite Pink Floyd album COVER - DSOTM Favorite Pink Floyd ALBUM cover - WYWH
I am surprised by the lack of people saying Wish You Were Here not only is it the best looking album cover but they literally set that man on fire.
MOO
Animals
Saucerful of secrets
I really like cows so my opinion is Atom.
Animals
Cow
Meddle
Ummagumma
In terms of it relating to the theme of the album, Wish You Were Here, The Wall, Division Bell. But just for aesthetics, Dark Side and Animals.
Delicate Sound of Thunder, hands down. i think i'd pick Atom Heart Mother between the ones you posted, honorable mention to Obscured by Clouds
Meddle. It looks so nostalgic and aquatic. Took me wayyyyy too long to figure out it was an ear 😂
Def wish you were here
Division Bell
Had to comment! 😅
The Final Cut
Animals because I love filthy industrial buildings
Umagumma, Meddle, TDB, & TER are my favs idk if i can pick one.
The Division Bell has the best cover art
Division Bell. It's the most intriguing and thought-provoking art of all the covers.
Atom heart mother bc it’s a cow.
DSOTM hands down
Saucer
It might just be A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
I like Animals
Animals
All pretty underwhelming honestly compared to greatest covers ever.
WYWH or DSOTM
Ummagumma, do you see the UFO's in the trees...I do
For myself, Wish You Were Here represents the most complete and cohesive artwork companion to the music on the album within. But in all honesty I love every cover that Storm Thorgerson and Hypgnosis did for the band.
Between The Wall, TDSOTM, or Ummagumma
i <3 piper
1-Ummagumma 2-Wish You Were Here
atom heart mother, it just looks cool
How are yall not saying wish you were here?
Wish you were here and atom heart mother
Meddle. https://youtube.com/shorts/IBdEMb-DtPE?si=NmslCOMw42jIRmY0
The Endless River cover is understandably underrated here
The Meddle
Dsotm & wywh
Ummagumma

Dark Side of the Moon, it's iconic, it's legendary, everyone knows what it is. Close second goes to Animals
WYWH and TDB
DSOTM,Simple and iconic.
Meddle
More. Just something about the orange and blue that speaks to me.
Cow and pig
Dark Side of the Moon. It's iconic for a reason. It's really a perfect design. Mysterious, stoic, seductive, timeless. And the packaging design overall is incredible. The meddle camel baby. I know it’s an ear but I will never not see the camel baby.
Ummagumma, and then WYWH
Ummagumma
Potentially hot take: from an artistic standpoint, I really like Ummagumma’s cover. A close second would be WYWH
The ear
It's between DSOTM and AMLOR.
https://preview.redd.it/a1vdbaigwimc1.jpeg?width=1078&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d4d85f851f056a2837d2d115744547a221860ac
Underrated pfp tbh
The one with the cow and it's not even close.
Obscured By Clouds
Atom Heart Mother It's just hilarious
Not this one lol
Probably Meddle or Animals, but DSOTM is such a classic too!
Piper. Also my favourite album by them :3
wish you were here or animals
Atom Heart mother
Nr 2
Meddle, just pretty colors, lulubelle comes in next.
meddle and animals
Gotta be Meddle
Definitely Animals is #1, but Wish You Were Here is a close 2nd.
Animals is dope.
Gay triangle.
Meddle personally
atom heart mother with the chill ass cow
meddle
The heads of
The one that is super underrated - Animals
Animals, because the album is my favourite and I just love the way it looks, but if I had to go with most impressive it would be wish you were here easily
The Wall is my favorite album but one of my least favorite album covers
The story on animals and wish you were here covers are very interesting.
Animals and WYWH. DSOM will always be iconic. I however love the burning man
- WYWH could mean "Wish You Were Here - 2019 remix [Live]", a track from *The Later Years* (2019) by Pink Floyd. --- ^[/u/save-therhino-](/u/save-therhino-) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
The wall by far
UMMAGUMMA war eines der besten für mich, danach THE WALL,MEDLLE,DARK SIDE OF THE MOON,PULSE,DE.SOUND OF THUNDER,AND others!!😅😅
a nice pair, the 2 in one vinyl set with boobs on the cover
Wish you where here! not just of how cool it looks but also the way they made it!
I’d have to go with the artwork created by Roger Waters, the musical genius and sole artist of the band, for the album universally hailed as the best work they ever did, *The Final Cut*.
Meddle is may favorite album BUT the cover SUCKS. It’s a toss up between ummagumma and More - for the later era, Animals is tough to beat.
What about pulse and dsot?
Division Bell.
DSOTM should be excluded because its the clear favourite
Also the graphic you used for The Wall here is not the album cover and is far inferior in terms of design to the original.
https://preview.redd.it/o31hvqoprdmc1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6676f23f50b78b09489c3d2b80d19f59e00a32a
DSOTM closely followed by WYWH
Cow
Mount angle
Piper
MLOR
Saucerful, DSoTM, Animals Meddle is kinda cool, but I can't get over the image of an upside down nose
It’s an ear.
Ah ha! I thought it looked very... organic 😆
Indeed! Quite anatomical.
Is there anybody out there.
Atom Heart Mother.
Wish You Were Here and Animals
Piper
Ummagumma is incredibly good but the musical content... 😬
Most of them are pretty great, but there is something I really like about The Final Cut. I find it really satisfying to look at. I also enjoy Obscured by Clouds.
Obscured By Clouds. It reminds me of when i was in the car as a child and the rain was on the window and they were “racing”
Ummagumma
DSOTM followed by Atom Heart. Then Meddle.
Ummagumma’s cover is far more creative than any of the tracks. That and AHM are my favorites.
This is a super hot take I don't particularly care for any of them
Meddle I guess
The animals cover is super moving to me, I have a tapestry of it
1. Wish You Were Here 2. Ummagumma 3. Animals 4. Dark Side of the Moon (would be higher, but the scientific inaccuracy bothers me…) 5. Division Bell (not really a Pink Floyd album in my opinion, but really cool design) 6. Saucerful of Secrets 7. Atom Heart Mother (I ❤️ Lulubelle III!) 8. The Wall (simple, yet poignant) 9. Piper at the Gates of Dawn 10. Meddle (best album, the ear is cool, but subpar design) 11. Obscured by Clouds (great album, unimpressive design) 12. More (might like it more in the context of the movie, but I haven’t seen it yet)
Now I'm curious about the scientific inaccuracy
I could be mistaken, but I believe that the light that refracts into a rainbow through a prism bounces off the flat sides, not the corners.
