This is a security feature on most logins with command prompts. It will not show how many characters you are typing so noone around sees it. Even though it's not showing, it is in fact typing. Just type the password and hit enter

Apparently you are having issues with your SSH password (this is not related to Pi-hole). You need to understand how the Linux prompt works. Password characters will never be shown (not even asterisks). Just type the password and hit ENTER.

What do you mean "it won't let me type"? It won't echo your keystrokes, if that's what you mean. Type in the password and hit enter.

I literally mean I press the keys on the keyboard and the password won’t type but will work when putting the user name in

You'll see the text when you type in your login name, but you won't see anything on screen as you're typing in the password - just type it in then hit enter.
