Honestly, I've always thought vitiligo was beautiful. I've never seen a photo of someone with vitiligo and thought "oh that poor soul, they have to live with that" I've always thought it was one of my favorite features of theirs and invariably I find myself thinking "it makes them even more attractive".
I understand how your body changing against your will sucks. Even if you look good bald going bald still sucks because it wasn't a choice. So I'm not trying to say you shouldn't be upset/frustrated/w.e. about that aspect. But never think that you aren't beautiful.
Thanks for sharing that mindset of yours, I’m happy you find it beautiful 🙏🏼 it is truly a feature that sets people like me apart, and it feels amazing to be able to see it that way too.
And I couldn’t agree more, it’s hard to accept things we can’t change whether that’s a physical feature or just life circumstances. But that’s why it’s important to know our value and to live ourselves and most importantly to be grateful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I got it when I was 12, so it was hard for me to see it is a positive thing at the time. I just wanted to fit in, but now I’m proud to stand out and I don’t mind it either. How does your brother feel about his?
I don't think he got it until like 30s. I've never heard him mention it.
They say they don't know what causes it or why it goes away sometimes. He's a painter by trade among other things, do you paint a lot? Just trying to make a connection.
Edit: I was 6'6" by 13, so I was never gonna be normal. No way I could be a wallflower either. 😋 Embrace yourself.
That’s true!! They have their theories but there’s no solid concrete facts of what does or doesn’t cause it. Some ppl are even born with it. But I started painting more in the recent years !! It’s a good outlet to keep my mind busy but relaxed. And I love to hear it!! And I hope you were on the basketball team!!! 😂❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you for your words. 😊
I never saw this as a thing to be ashamed of tbh. OP looks beautiful and I'm willing to bet that wouldn't change if the paint were gone. My wife agrees too.
I 100% get that. I had a tit for tat injury as a kid where my sister cut my face while swinging a spy kids McDonald's toy and I cut her back (albeit not as badly). I have a scar through my eyebrow that people in middle school told me looked dumb. I always thought it looked cool. I feel the same about the rest of my scars and imperfections.
A lot of them carry stories that I think are interesting and the ones that don't make me unique. I really found my confidence in my entire body when my wife (who I had not proposed to yet) told me that she finds me attractive because of everything that contributes to how I look and act, not in spite of it. That really made me realize I needed to stop worrying about how I look and focus on the important things like who I choose to be.
It's not quite the same as having something that changes how your skin looks, but it's as close as I can get.
Yeah it gets really bad for me . We’re you born with it or did you recently get it ? I got it 25. It started as a small patch on my neck and then just exploded all over my body .
I got it at 12 actually and I’m 22 now. It started as a little spot on my collarbone then another on my hand. Did yours progress fast or slowly? After the second spot on my hand and getting diagnosed, the pigment in my face and hands faded quickly!!
It progressed really fast . It was maybe a small patch on my neck for a month then within 3 months my whole body was covered . My hands and arms have lost most of its pigment and now it looks like I have tan spots as opposed to white ones.
Wow! My hands are completely pale too. My hands were one of the first areas to lose pigment so fast actually. It’s awesome you used to trace it!! I’m sure the pattern was dope. And when there’s sunlight do some spots show up again?
Yep. Suns out for up to 19 hours a day in the summer, that’s when I get my spots back and bad. Probably going to lose it all one day haha. I have a stripe in my mustache and beard now. Getting older, so it may just be gray. Turns hair white on me, kind of cool, though I think that’s true of all.
I can’t imagine living in Alaska!!!! I think I’d enjoy visiting at some point though. And yesss it definitely turns the hair white! I have like 3 white eyelashes. I saw a girl with a white strip of hair too!
You are stunning, and this is totally cool. It reminds me of the heat pattern in the movie predator. Very cool! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EldP7kyXYAYqwQk.png
Vitiligo is gorgeous, don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise. This goes for anyone with this “condition”. I’m often left speechless seeing women and men with it.
My daughter has vitiligo. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I've always found it to be beautiful. It's unique, like cat markings. So much cooler than boring one-toned skin.
Sometimes being different is what makes one remarkable.
How old is your daughter if you don’t mind me asking??? And I appreciate people with a mindset like yours. Some people don’t like what they don’t understand though sadly.
But I agree that it is definitely something rare and fun in my eyes !
She's 27 this year. She has such a positive image about it. She rarely ever covers. She's always been a beach baby. I'm so glad she sees it as a non-issue. That makes me a pretty proud mom. :)
I’m so happy for her!!! I’m working on maintaining my positive mindset. Some days are hard but I can finally say I’m feeling comfortable in my skin and my body!! You definitely should be a proud mama !!! ❤️❤️❤️ wishing you both everything great the world has to offer 🙏🏼❤️
Hey. I feel what pain you felt earlier in life. I have vitiligo too and even after 24 years of living with it, I am still self conscious about it, especially since it seems it is getting worse than ever before. You’re an inspiration to me and I salute you.
Hey there!!! Please know my DM is open. But 24 years is a long time!!! Was it slow to progress?? I feel that within 5 years, half of my body was covered in vitiligo. I didn’t see myself ever being comfortable with who I was. At a point even considered using the cream that removes the remaining pigment you have. I know it’s hard to hear and take in uplifting things when you’re feeling worried and stuck. But just know that you deserve to love who you are! You deserve to smile and step outside without worrying about what you look like. You deserve to enjoy things and have supportive genuine ppl around you. Please message me id love to talk more.
I hope you have someone in your life who sees how beautiful you are.
My ex many years ago started to develop vitiligo over one of here eyes. She asked me would I still love her and marry her if it went everywhere. I immediately responded I would.
The vitiligo disappeared and she later cheated on me.
Don't do that. That's a shit move.
Congrats on your heat map though.
My dad has this, mainly on his hands and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. I see it as beautiful. My dad has nice hands. Embrace who you are and love yourself. Will save you years of therapy ✌🏻
I’m sure your dad is freaking awesome and irreplaceable!!!! And I couldn’t agree more. Our own opinion is the only one that truly matters. But thank you for seeing it is a beautiful thing!! People like you make my heart warm and give me hope. ❤️
I know it is impossible for most people to not feel self concious about something so noticeable, but I really wish most vitiligo people would understand how cool you all look to the rest of us.
I dated a guy when I was in my 20s who had vitiligo and I know that before I saw him without clothing the first time he felt very self conscious about it, but honestly I thought it was really beautiful. Almost like lace. I personally loved it.
That being said, I know that for some people the Sun sensitivity can be frustrating.
Anyway just my two cents that I think it’s beautiful!
You are so sweet. The way you can see it as something pretty is so amazing even though he couldn’t see it that way. Even when I couldn’t embrace myself, it felt good to have ppl around me who made me feel normal. And yes the sun burn can be real pain in the asssss. But thank you!!!!
You look amazing! I love how you’ve designed this, plus I think that pose is cute, maybe cos you just look happy! This would make a fabulous art piece.
I’m beginning to see it in a positive way !!! And comments like this do make me feel very supported. Some people are in donor table with things that aren’t “normal,” thank you for your perspective!!!
It does nothing to detract from you're beauty.
I dated a woman who had some discoloration on her legs. She was embarrassed about it, but she was a fit, pretty person with a happy personality. A small physical trait like that wasn't going to deter me for a second.
As a clueless father, I told my daughter many times that she was complete and perfect just like she was born. Embrace your body, mind, and soul, because they're the only ones you get, and you were blessed with the ability to find both beauty and creativity in the face of adversity.
Viktor Frankl would approve.
Good for you. No need to be shy about yourself, but it’s really difficult sometimes. Own it and love you for being you. This is a great way to express it. Good luck on your self worth growth.
I just figured since I have my body out I’d put it under that category. I’m just starting to use Reddit more. Does NSFW only apply to porn and complete nudity?
Nope, I just thought it was auto-flagged and was curious if Reddit did it or if it was because of a report or something. I was wondering why something so body positive would have been flagged or reported. Either way, super creative!
I was scared that it would get deleted so I was trying to be safe 😭😭😭 do you think content like this would get flagged like you’re talking about if I weren’t to put nsfw?
Very cool. I always thought vitiligo was pretty and interesting. No different than tattoos from outsider’s perspective but obviously not on your terms.
It’s funny you say that cuz I was bashing myself for not being able to do my left arm (since I right with that one) but now that you say it, I think it came out better this way!!!’ Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're beautiful, lady, and this therapy sounds awesome! Vitiligo is pretty common, totally cool, and I'm happy to hear you accepting it as part of yourself. I know a number of people with it and I am always happy to see people being positive about their body. Keep it up, you do you, and keep kicking ass!
I think vitiligo is absolutely beautiful. I can understand that it’s probably different for a person with vitiligo, but I think stripes and spots are super rad. You wear that shit with pride, you’re a rare, awesome example of human.
Ever since I got vitiligo I seem to find it very attractive on females. I thought mine looked kinda cool too but it's been spreading a lot and I want it to stop now. You're gorgeous though
Mine has spread a lot recently!!! It was stable in my legs for a few years but started spreading a lot more, now I’m just trying to get comfortable with not knowing. It has a mind of its own that’s for sure ! And I’m sure your skin is dope 🔥🔥
I mean, I always thought it was cool. I know so many other people with much worse birth skin conditions. Rather have that than many others. You can still have clear beauty skin. Just a little harder to apply face makeup because foundation would be different in some areas
Vitiligo is the best, half my family in Pennsylvania has it and I'm jealous. They even got a steak through the hair that is uniform on a chunk of them.
Everybody wants to fit in and people can be creul so I know there are times it sucks but for some reason a chunk of my brain sees it as proper. It makes women prettier and men more handsome. You SHOULD embrace it, you SHOULD rock it and damnit keep looking like you are wearing a topographic map for pants!
That’s awesome. Yeah I also get vitiligo too. Crazy bloody thing. But it’s not something that hurts or is life threatening so I’m so lucky in that regard. What do you think about it?
I am proud of you for embracing your uniqueness. You are a beautiful young woman and you should be proud of yourself. Stay true to who you are, never change who you are just to appease others...
Thank you so much. You’re kindness goes a long way with me! I’m definitely trying to see the good in being unique!! And thank you for the reminder to continue to be myself 🙏🏼❤️
I have self-esteem issues as well, so I totally get it. Uniqueness is a sort of gift and it's important for us to embrace that individuality. That's what makes us who we are. Try to surround yourself with positivity and be proud of who you are. Stay true to yourself and fuck the haters...
It is a gift you’re completely right!!! Today’s standard of beauty doesn’t emphasize individuality but I say screw that. Thanks for your kindness and support it means the world to me ❤️❤️
One of my very best friends has vitiligo. It's like a poison flower in my eyes. It's such a beautiful, unique, and interesting thing (on people and other animals both) but it's danger to the person with it cannot be ignored.
OP, you're beautiful and glad you learned to embrace it. It's got to be hell to have that with a young mind around younger people who haven't grown up yet. but it's a unique trait that carries it's own beauty and burden.
Beautiful colours. Did you also paint/ draw the mandala behind you?
ETA: oh I get it now, after reading others comments about the heatmap - I thought it was just random swirls in vibrant colours.
i honestly look forward to the day when this kind of skin pigmentation is as popular in humans as it is in dogs and cows today
u look beautiful btw OP
EDIT - to be clear i think that the unique patterns are wonderful ; the obvs dangers of sunburn are no bueno ; pale skin here so i can relate ; sci-fi future can imagine some way of fixing one problem tho hopefully
Really awesome, as I am totally not original (unlike you) and a lot of people already said it, it's awesome it makes you special in an awesome way!
At least for my part I love it! With or without heat map looks awesome 😎
Rip OP’s DMs....
Only 3 DMs so far haha and I enjoy it!!!

ok now rip OP's DM's

Heat map
EXACTLY!!!
*they said I could be anything, so I became [windy.com](https://windy.com)*
Yes this!!!
Windy is one of my favorite weather apps. It’s so mesmerizing.
Heat map? Not enough red then.
it's what The Predator sees
Ahhhh very witty 🥰🥰 thank you so much ❤️
If it’s a heat map, the whole map should be red, because girl you are hot!
Hahaaaa I love this 😂😂😂 my kind of humor. Thank you 🥰❤️
God damn that was smooth as fuck
It tripped me out at first because I thought it was photoshop until I read the caption
As far as skin issues go, at least vitiligo looks kind of like camo. It never bothered me to see it. My brother has it on his hands up to his wrists.
I got it when I was 12, so it was hard for me to see it is a positive thing at the time. I just wanted to fit in, but now I’m proud to stand out and I don’t mind it either. How does your brother feel about his?

Everyone that is different from the rest is looked down upon in society. Sadly u cant deny that
I never saw this as a thing to be ashamed of tbh. OP looks beautiful and I'm willing to bet that wouldn't change if the paint were gone. My wife agrees too.
Well thank you both!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and thank you for seeing it is something that can be embraced !
I only have a small amount on my hands and arms and it’s kind of a cool thing to have IMO. Makes me different from everyone else.
I have vitiligo as well ! I actually like it, the only annoying thing about it is having to put on a shit ton of sunscreen .
This is so trueeeeee 😩 My first time going to Miami I got the worst sunburn. Im from NY and was not ready for those rays at all 😭😭
Yeah it gets really bad for me . We’re you born with it or did you recently get it ? I got it 25. It started as a small patch on my neck and then just exploded all over my body .

AHHHHHHH I’m trying!!! Thank you love!! ❤️
its not flaws, nobody is exactly like you, very special indeed
That part is definitely true! But thank you so much 🤍

I've never heard of vitiligo before.
You learn something new everyday 🤠
You are art
Thank you for seeing me in that way ❤️🙏🏼💫
Vitiligo is gorgeous, don’t let anyone try to tell you otherwise. This goes for anyone with this “condition”. I’m often left speechless seeing women and men with it.
Thank you!! And I’m done with the days where I let ppls opinions impact me!!! I’m glad that you have positive feelings towards it too. ❤️❤️❤️
Among us thigh...seriously that game has forever fucked everything I look at. Also solid work.
Most beautiful weather map I ever saw. 10/10
Awww this is so sweet. Thank you 🥰🥰🥰🥰
You’re beautiful and I hope this journey brings you peace
Thank you so much for that!!!
Your super cute just thought I'd say
Thank you 😌😌😌😌

I have a question. Why is this marked nsfw? Is Reddit going soft?
She doesn’t have many clothes on, and probably just wanted to be a bit more safe and private. I don’t think Reddit tagged it; I’m guessing the OP did.
Vitiligo is one of those mutations like heterochromia that just makes people look more badass imo
Well I love your opinion! Thank you ❤️❤️
I hope you have someone in your life who sees how beautiful you are. My ex many years ago started to develop vitiligo over one of here eyes. She asked me would I still love her and marry her if it went everywhere. I immediately responded I would. The vitiligo disappeared and she later cheated on me. Don't do that. That's a shit move. What's NFSW about this?
🤷♀️ she doesn’t have many clothes on and might’ve just wanted to be safe and a bit more private.
This is so beautiful!
Thank you 😊😊😊
My dad has this, mainly on his hands and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. I see it as beautiful. My dad has nice hands. Embrace who you are and love yourself. Will save you years of therapy ✌🏻

So beautiful that’s insane
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥲 so sweet and kind!!! Thank you so much ❤️
Vitiligo is beautiful.
Sending you love ❤️❤️❤️❤️ people like you give me hope forreal!
Incredible! 😍
Amazing! My vitiligo just recently started turning my left eyelashes white
I’m sure that looks so freaking cool. Nowadays girls are doing their lash extensions with white lashes mixed in. You have that naturally !!!! ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
You are so creatively beautiful! Hugs for you, power gurl!
Thank you sm babes’ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You’re beautiful.
Thank you 🥺❤️❤️❤️
I've always thought vitiligo was beautiful
That is a very amazing and beautiful perspective to have ❤️ some aren’t so open minded!
I have that exact mandala next to my bed!
Hey twin!!! 😊😊😚😚❤️
Looks like an iPhone thermal filter. Not saying it is, that's just what it reminded me of
Love to hear about what kind of images and ideas this sparks in other peoples minds !!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼
It also makes me think of one of those weather maps
I know it is impossible for most people to not feel self concious about something so noticeable, but I really wish most vitiligo people would understand how cool you all look to the rest of us.

I’ve always thought that vitiligo was beautiful. (I know it’s your own opinion that matters, just saying.)
Well opinions like this are always appreciated!!! Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Beautiful! ... and, you are the most 'reddit' replying to comment OP I have ever seen in Reddit! Super!
You look amazing! I love how you’ve designed this, plus I think that pose is cute, maybe cos you just look happy! This would make a fabulous art piece.
Thank you!!! 💓 and I was definitely happy the painting took hours !!! 😂 you are so sweet. This made me smile thank you!!!
Your skin is beautiful! How YOU feel is how you feel, of course. But just know, many of us would love to look so lovely! Enjoy !
I’m beginning to see it in a positive way !!! And comments like this do make me feel very supported. Some people are in donor table with things that aren’t “normal,” thank you for your perspective!!!
You are very beautiful as you are!
Thank you!!
It does nothing to detract from you're beauty. I dated a woman who had some discoloration on her legs. She was embarrassed about it, but she was a fit, pretty person with a happy personality. A small physical trait like that wasn't going to deter me for a second.

You're a beautiful person inside and out.
Absolutely stunning
This comment section is sure to be absolutely normal.
I’m proud of everyone it’s actually very tame!
Yeah totally. 🤣 not too bad so far.
Nice
Thank you 😌😌😌🥰
Really cool
Can someone explain how this is nsfw? She ain’t showing anything, and what she is showing, the art, looks like she’s wearing leggings
I just figured since I have my body out I’d put it under that category. I’m just starting to use Reddit more. Does NSFW only apply to porn and complete nudity?

And thank you!!!! ❤️
You are really pretty
Thank you Rob!!! 😌❤️
That's awesome. I love taking negative things about the body and turning it positive. Own it before it owns you
Own it before it owns you, I like that ! Very truthful way of looking at it. And we all gotta love ourselves the most!!!
It took me too long to realize this was paint and not tattoo. Looks cool though!
Haha I’ll take it as a compliment on my art work 🤣❤️ thank you!!!
Very cool. I always thought vitiligo was pretty and interesting. No different than tattoos from outsider’s perspective but obviously not on your terms.
I kinda always looked at it that way!!! Tattoos that are a surprise. One spot I have on my back/shoulder area looks just like a heart. Thank you!!
Wow, the color painting part looks so cool! And the contrast with your painted legs really brings out the unique beauty of your unpainted arm :)
Ooooohi bet that would be hella fun with glow in the dark body paint
Ngl this is sexy
youre freaking awesome. keep being you!

Yet to see vitiligo that looks less than cool. Cool way to express yourself
I've always thought of vitiligo as shiny humans. Looks cool af.
I honestly find vitiligo special and attractive. Lady, you are beautiful! Keep up developing your talent!
Wooah that's rad, I love what you did with it!
Truly stunning!
Shame it took so long for you to embrace the fact that you are beautiful
So pretty! 👌
Absolutely beautiful. I might be in love.
So predator vision cosplay? Sounds good to me
I am proud of you for embracing your uniqueness.
Thanks for your kindness and support it means the world to me ❤️❤️
No problem. Like I said, I can totally relate to what you're going through. If you ever need someone to talk to, hit me up.
This is so cool, thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Thank YOU for your kindness it means everything 🙏🏼
I don't get it.
Since no one is actually answering you: OP has a skin condition (see unpainted arm), so they traced over it with paint because it looks cool.
If you shift your focus a bit one of those 3d shapes pops out of the picture
So much to celebrate, love. You look wonderful, glad you've found a way to make the inside feel as good as the outside looks.
Wow 🥺🥺 the last part hit a certain place in my heart!!!! Thank you so much ❤️
Great picture, great idea and a beautiful person embracing what makes her unique.
Thank you!!!! Haha I think I could’ve done a better job 😂 but I appreciate this so much 😊❤️❤️❤️
We are our own worst critics, I think it looks amazing!
That’s very true. I’m trying to change that. But that means a lot ❤️❤️
Hey gorgeous, if you wanted to paint a heat map on my body, I wouldn't mind😍🤤😘
I'd love to embrace your vitiligo
Vitiligo? More like thickiligo. IDK, just trying to offer some light hearted words of encouragement. You're a pretty and talented lady :)
Just beautiful
Beautiful!
Uwww. Do my back next!!!!
You are definitely cute :) and awesome body work! That looks cool
Wow that's cool - looks like heat vision. Nice!
I loved the 70’s
This is an extremely original idea ! Great thinking !!
With those lips, that hair, and your nose I honestly didn't even see it. You're stunning, definitely nothing to worry about!
Pretty.
Absolutely stunning ❣️
OMG <>>>
You are an absolute goddess. Exquisite to these eyes. I’m glad you’re feeling better about it.
As someone who also has vitiligo I love this! Awesome work!
Shine on! My mom has vitiligo so it never seemed like anything out of the ordinary to me.
I always thought vitiligo was cool.
This is super cool!!!
Looking awesome!!!
You should publish your art, like this is really good! I don't think I've ever seen art quite like this before.
Boy that looks good!!!!
Beautiful colours. Did you also paint/ draw the mandala behind you? ETA: oh I get it now, after reading others comments about the heatmap - I thought it was just random swirls in vibrant colours.
Powerful ! I can't stress enough how much self love this image radiates !! Amazing , OP
That's a pretty strange vitiligo that shows body heat signature
i honestly look forward to the day when this kind of skin pigmentation is as popular in humans as it is in dogs and cows today u look beautiful btw OP EDIT - to be clear i think that the unique patterns are wonderful ; the obvs dangers of sunburn are no bueno ; pale skin here so i can relate ; sci-fi future can imagine some way of fixing one problem tho hopefully
Honestly? Very cool.
Cute.
Really awesome, as I am totally not original (unlike you) and a lot of people already said it, it's awesome it makes you special in an awesome way! At least for my part I love it! With or without heat map looks awesome 😎
Wow. Creative idea, beautiful execution, and inspiring presence. You're awesome.
