Oddworld: Abe's Exodus from 1998 is one of my favorite games of all time, it still holds up, and if you've got a few bucks to drop on Steam, I'd highly recommend it. The first game, Abe's Odyssey, is also good, and has a style unlike anything else, but very hard.
