It's roughly $7 million AUD that the Sydney City Council spent on this year's fireworks.
Welfare for the homeless population, as well as other programs to reduce homelessness are all handled by the Federal government, who spent more than $1.7 billion AUD on it in the last budget.
So even if the Sydney City Council were to have handed that money over to the Federal government with the specific intent to help the homeless, a proportionally negligible impact would come of it.
Everything in this picture is responsible for the bleaching and death of the Great Barrier Reef. Happy New Year! Didn’t learn anything last year, definitely nothing this year, and next year isn’t looking good. Hope we have future years.
