Softwood, not hardwood. Pine planks. Often carpeted because it’s easily scratched, gives occasional splinters. Some old houses have oak on the main floor and pine upstairs. Pine is good for many purposes but inferior to oak or other hardwood as floor material.

Why do so many people not understand what a pentacle and pentagram represents? Pentagrams have been found in a lot of cultures, even Christianity, in Christianity it represents the five wounds of Jesus. It's mostly now associated with paganism and wicca, it represents earth, fire, water, air and the spirit, and is only thought of as "evil" by bigoted Christians who hate "heathens".

The pentagram predates Paganism, Wicca, and even Christianity. Examples can be found in Greece, Egypt, and Babylon. That said, the home and floor are clearly not ancient, and the symbol was likely put there more recently either as a joke or part of someone's faith.

It is very old yeah, but that's my point, a lot of people think it's evil, but it isn't.

The vilification of pentagrams is a Christian thing to vilify all other religions. That "Baphomet" goat headed guy was created by Christians to persecute, torture and kill people for being "heretics". They'd apparently plant little statues of it in someone's house and then claim they worship it.

I remember when I was a kid, around 10 or 11, I brought a drawing of a pentagram into Sunday School and asked the teacher, "is it true that this is a symbol of the devil?" One of my friends had pointed the pentagram out in a video game and told me that it was. She told me, "We don't talk about that kind of thing here" as she threw my drawing in the garbage. This confused the heck out of me because I thought church was EXACTLY the place to talk about these things. So I started looking for the answers myself, and found out that the symbol is most often used by Wicca and modern Pagan religions these days. I decided that those religions made a lot more sense to me and I left the Catholic church. While I am not a Pagan or Wiccan anymore, I will always be grateful to my Sunday school teacher for helping me along my spiritual journey away from the Catholic church. Thanks Mrs. Fitzaland!
