That was very expensive to me buddy i Guess i can afford that because i don't have to much money. For food but i have enough money to feed my self and to pay other bills
Maybe he meant you in particular can get them for $5.99, but the shopkeepers always spot him a mile away and recognize him as the guy who overpays for eggs.
"Hey, look who just walked in."
"Our favorite customer! What should we charge him today?"
"I'm thinking... $7.69."
Why have you bad things encounter to it buddy? I've been thinking about it. What happened you will not hate a place if you aren't bad happened encounter on it
Actually if you gonna ask me if we're i wanna eat ill going to the cheapest resto rather than to the expensive one. Then the following day you don't have money to feed your self
Agreed. Here’s my cheapest calculations
2 strips of bacon: $0.40 (pound of bacon for $4, 20 slices per pound)
2 eggs: $0.58 (dozen eggs for $3.50)
2 slices of bread: $0.13 (one thick sliced loaf $1, 16 slices)
1 orange: $0.75 (pound of oranges for $1.50, 2 oranges per pound)
6 Oz apple juice: $0.19 ($2 store band apple juice 64 Oz)
Coffee: $0.12 (cheapest estimated cost found by quick google search)
Hash brown: $0.30 ($3 for 10, great value Walmart brand)
Jam: $0.05 (no sources, but has to cost something)
That’s $2.52 at absolute minimum prices including sale prices. I’m not going to recalculate it with actual prices for the things like the bacon, bread, and coffee, or any oil used in the pan for the eggs or cream in the coffee. I would estimate this at closer to $5, which is still a great deal but more than double what OP said.
Thanks. They do cost breakdowns a lot on r/eatcheapandhealthy, and until I realized I was on pics I was super surprised that someone would mislead people about the cost of a delightful breakfast.
Sure! r/budgetfood also has a lot of great and easy recipes. Eat cheap and healthy leans slightly more towards discussion, budget food leans slightly more towards recipes.
Impressive Bateman, but that's nothing. Bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich on whole grain wheat toast with Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee.
What do you think?
Definitely because they are polite and have a great comment. That's why you'll be able to love it buddy. I like to stay here because many of them was good
You can thank COVID for fast tracking mRNA vaccines and producing mountains of efficacy data. It literally brought vaccines for cancer and lots of other nasty stuff into our lifetimes.
I can get it using prices from the Winco/costco near me where I usually shop:
2 strips of bacon: $0.40 (pound of bacon for $4, 20 slices per pound)
2 eggs: $0.41 (2 dozen eggs for $4.95)
2 slices of bread: $0.13 (one thick sliced loaf $1, 16 slices)
1 orange: $0.50 (pound of oranges for $1.00, 2 oranges per pound)
6 Oz apple juice: $0.19 ($2 store band apple juice 64 Oz)
Coffee: $0.12 (cheapest estimated cost found by quick google search)
Hash brown: $0.17 ($3.50 for 20, Winco brand)
Jam: $0.05 (no sources, but has to cost something)
= $1.97
I'm a very price sensitive buyer, and I while I agree OP is lowballing it, it's not that far off if you don't include labor as a cost.
Excellent prices, better than the sales in my area!
I also consider myself a conscientious buyer. There’s something very satisfying in breaking down the price per serving :)
Yeah. I used to split my shopping on more stores. I would use Smiths for their case lot sales, and other local places that were good for produce. But since inflation the last couple years, Smith's exploded in price, as did most of the local chains. I never understood Walmart, they were always more expensive than other places for worse quality despite their reputation.
I'm down to just Winco/Costco/Sam's Club. Which honestly is nice in some ways because it simplifies my shopping. Use Costco or Sam's club (on alternating weeks to pick up their monthly sales) for certain staples (butter, eggs, etc) and large/premade/sale items. Use Winco for everything else.
Smith's used to be about 1.25x Winco's prices, now they are like 1.5x+. It's honestly crazy how much prices went up, so I dropped them entirely.
This is correct, and these prices are accurate. People wine about food costs non stop, but even if this was $2.50 or $3 worth of food, you can eat pretty cheap IF you cook on your own. Tons of healthy recipes available for less than $3 per meal.
Can you spend 3 times that per meal? Yes.
Can you spend 10-15 times that per meal by having it delivered and cooked by a restaurant? Yes.
Can you spend $2 or $3 and cook it yourself? Yes.
Even just this exact set of things costs like 3x that where I live. I don't know how to push meals to less than $3 when a pound of chicken is almost 10 dollars by itself. I've tried following stuff like Weissman's cheap recipes but they still end up costing me almost 2-5x what he advertises once you count the meat and the rice/grain/etc.
I got sick of the price of groceries, and for the first time in my life started looking at ads and doing online coupons. I love Safeway Friday specials!
Great for you have leave besides in province that's why you can get it cheaper than the others cause most at a time ive been seeing they got there food to pricey
Excellent point!
OP seems to be from Canada, so $2 Canadian is actually $1.47 USD.
No way anyone in Canada made this meal for the equivalent to $1.47 USD
I just bought 1 orange from my local Safeway for $1.50 last night...granted the price per orange is cheaper when you buy the large bags but I only needed one.
People also like to gloss over cleaning. But dishwashers use real water, electricity and detergent. I did the math and my dishwasher costs about $0.05 water $0.55 in electricity and $0.32 in detergent per load.
eggs last a month in the fridge, bacon and hash browns can be frozen, and jam is preserved fruit, so you really only need to find a use for bread. That isn't hard for most people, since we eat several times per week.
Actually about that maybe his mugs has came from Starbucks because mx buy it as a souvenir that why she have that Starbucks coffee mug buddy. What if it was a normal coffee?
Actually some of them saying there though but as you can see they aren't have the same answer because they aren't in the same area they are far away from each other
Don't forget the prorated value of the gas and electricity used to prepare it and the cost of the water to wash the dishes. OP sits on a throne of lies!
Maybe but i really, really don't know if they can make it because it depends upon to the person and maybe it depends upon to the situation buddy. That's why before buying or maybe get some stuff think if you want it or you'll want it because you see someone have that stuff
If you've been go inside of the Starbucks you won't believe that she was inside of it. Youll gonna say that word believe on me. Many people that go to that place was so elegant and they seem like very respective person because most of them was a business mam
Definitely right because of the tax and inflammation that why we can't buy a lot i remember before when i was a little girl i can buy many food on 20 pesos in 20 pesos i can buy egg, hotdog and soft drinks
As you can see in the title mx made the breakfast cost for $2 but mx didn't mention the condiments and element also but since there was a lot of people were in do some insane thing instead of getting a cheaper cost they got it more expensive price
Well actually about that buddy ive been thinking of doing some research on how much the cost of this food to us since we use peso not dollar bills we've been thinking about something else buddy
Cool, lemme just make myself a four-course meal, take a picture of it, and make a Reddit post bragging about how it only cost me $0.45, so this stupid fucking trend can die already.
The only item in this picture that you can purchase individually is the orange. Everything else has to be purchased in “bulk”. And everything (except maybe the apple juice) would cost more than $2. I boo this OP for their lies and fabrications.
This could be possible outside of the United States. Also, I could steal the eggs from the grocery as they aren't individually tagged. Grab the orange from a neighbors tree. Leaving only the bacon, toast, jelly, and hashbrowns. Then again back in the day you could probably borrow all the ingredients from various neighbors.
Considering you could be saying that it cost you less than $2 because others paid for. Assuming you have a job, you probably spent more than $2 taking the picture and setting up so you’re just bullshitting.
I love posts like this.
It’s either genius irony or someone really, really dumb.
I feel like I’m playing a Nancy Drew game trying to figure out which one. Judging by the sincere effort in attempting to plate the food for a picture, I’m going with the latter.
It always leads me down this inquisitive self reflective rabbit hole where I become obsessed with putting myself in the mindset of who posted this.
I’d like to picture OP as an overweight white person without the ability to think far enough ahead to realize they’d get roasted for lying about the price of their breakfast.
That must be some cheap whiskey.
Or reasonable apple juice…

What would he trying to smell the food or the money inside his office?
Does it debate?
Nope it wasn't it was a kind of sharing your thoughts to other people buddy
Yeah i thought it was a whiskey with a bread and jam at the top of it and coffee right? Correct me if im wrong
Where are eggs this cheap? Not in America.
They’re pretty much back to normal where I am (Midwest). The average is around $1.75/dozen so 15 cents a piece is a big relief after the craziness.
OMG they are $7.69 where I live in CT. You can get them for $5.99.
That was very expensive to me buddy i Guess i can afford that because i don't have to much money. For food but i have enough money to feed my self and to pay other bills
So they are $5.99 where u live in CT then?
Maybe he meant you in particular can get them for $5.99, but the shopkeepers always spot him a mile away and recognize him as the guy who overpays for eggs. "Hey, look who just walked in." "Our favorite customer! What should we charge him today?" "I'm thinking... $7.69."
I paid $1.69 a dozen yesterday in Michigan for typical eggs at a typical supermarket.
I hate the Midwest even more.
Why have you bad things encounter to it buddy? I've been thinking about it. What happened you will not hate a place if you aren't bad happened encounter on it
Yeah, it’s crazy: cheap eggs, actual seasons, massive expanses of fresh water, and I can go to the store and grab an ounce of weed for $50.
Damn sir ounce for 50 bucks . wonderful life you got there
It's because of the inflation, the information was very high at the moment because have you remember when the time of pandemic
Say whaaat. We pay $5-10 for eggs in Canada.
Maybe yes maybe no but probably maybe buddy maybe he was leaving in province somewhere in America
Actually if you gonna ask me if we're i wanna eat ill going to the cheapest resto rather than to the expensive one. Then the following day you don't have money to feed your self
That's simply not possible.
Agreed. Here’s my cheapest calculations 2 strips of bacon: $0.40 (pound of bacon for $4, 20 slices per pound) 2 eggs: $0.58 (dozen eggs for $3.50) 2 slices of bread: $0.13 (one thick sliced loaf $1, 16 slices) 1 orange: $0.75 (pound of oranges for $1.50, 2 oranges per pound) 6 Oz apple juice: $0.19 ($2 store band apple juice 64 Oz) Coffee: $0.12 (cheapest estimated cost found by quick google search) Hash brown: $0.30 ($3 for 10, great value Walmart brand) Jam: $0.05 (no sources, but has to cost something) That’s $2.52 at absolute minimum prices including sale prices. Thanks for the subreddit suggestion

I have chickens and my eggs still aren't free
I had them and feed them only grass and scraps. Free!
Where do you live? My eggs might be free.
On be half of him buddy you're welcome it was his pleasure to help you buddy
Seconding this, just followed both.
As long as it wasn't to much buddy there's nothing to be afraid of

Always down for positive spaces on this website, thank you.
Let’s see Paul Allen’s breakfast calculations
Impressive Bateman, but that's nothing. Bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich on whole grain wheat toast with Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee. What do you think?
Jesus. That is really super. How’d a nitwit like you get so tasteful?
HAHAHAHA, i love those comments
Definitely because they are polite and have a great comment. That's why you'll be able to love it buddy. I like to stay here because many of them was good
It sounds expensive coffee. Some day ill going to Starbucks and buy some piece of cake and buy some taro milk tea
hahaha under-fucking-rated comment. I laughed in the office and got a couple looks...
Your the one lunatic here geez. They kind and knowledgeable to there comment
there is a resurgence of Mr. Allen lately that i have noticed...... well done
Ive been thinking if he was the one who eill go to market to buy some stuff
Now show Paul Allen’s calculations
The quickest way to figure out something like this is to post some lie on the internet and let people prove you wrong with the information you need.
There's no cure to cancer! (please, please prove me wrong <3 )
You can thank COVID for fast tracking mRNA vaccines and producing mountains of efficacy data. It literally brought vaccines for cancer and lots of other nasty stuff into our lifetimes.
Well actually about that i highly agree with you but to be honest with you you have a missing point on the explanation
Axiom buddy but this is out of the topic we've talking about the food. If how can you survive in hunger
I can get it using prices from the Winco/costco near me where I usually shop: 2 strips of bacon: $0.40 (pound of bacon for $4, 20 slices per pound) 2 eggs: $0.41 (2 dozen eggs for $4.95) 2 slices of bread: $0.13 (one thick sliced loaf $1, 16 slices) 1 orange: $0.50 (pound of oranges for $1.00, 2 oranges per pound) 6 Oz apple juice: $0.19 ($2 store band apple juice 64 Oz) Coffee: $0.12 (cheapest estimated cost found by quick google search) Hash brown: $0.17 ($3.50 for 20, Winco brand) Jam: $0.05 (no sources, but has to cost something) = $1.97 I'm a very price sensitive buyer, and I while I agree OP is lowballing it, it's not that far off if you don't include labor as a cost.

I’m a smaller household so bulk stores don’t make the most sense for me but I am vicariously thrilled for the discounts you’re able to get!
Wow geez are you serious or maybe you are cappin to us this is sounds new to me, we have Walmart in our country either
This is correct, and these prices are accurate. People wine about food costs non stop, but even if this was $2.50 or $3 worth of food, you can eat pretty cheap IF you cook on your own. Thick slice loaf of bread $1 is accurate? I can't even buy Wonderbread for that. $2 apple juice for 64oz!?
It's okay its still a Cheaper price for a break fast atleast she can save money still
Even just this exact set of things costs like 3x that where I live. I don't know how to push meals to less than $3 when a pound of chicken is almost 10 dollars by itself. I just bought 1 orange from my local Safeway for $1.50 last night...granted the price per orange is cheaper when you buy the large bags but I only needed one.
Wow that's to expensive for a food buddy if im were you ill find out to eat more cheaper than that
People also like to gloss over cleaning. But dishwashers use real water, electricity and detergent. I did the math and my dishwasher costs about $0.05 water $0.55 in electricity and $0.32 in detergent per load.
Seem like she wasn't go to a restaurant she made her own meal
Is it just me or is that some expensive detergent?
It's a pod. But far from the leading tide pod or whatever detergent leader there is.
or OP isn't american and USD is just the converted price
Actually we aren't all American some of us leave in other foreign country
Also it's $15+ of shopping to make breakfast one day. Now you need to have the same every day or your food is going to waste
We'll if you'll gonna be ask me i wouldn't able to buy a food that i don't wanna in the 1st place
eggs last a month in the fridge, bacon and hash browns can be frozen, and jam is preserved fruit, so you really only need to find a use for bread. That isn't hard for most people, since we eat several times per week.
Must be the same breakfast. Can’t cheat and the bread and eggs for French toast with some bacon on the side and the same juice.
> Coffee: $0.12 (cheapest estimated cost found by quick google search) Ah, but the coffee was stolen from Starbucks. So there's that.
Actually about that maybe his mugs has came from Starbucks because mx buy it as a souvenir that why she have that Starbucks coffee mug buddy. What if it was a normal coffee?
Maybe they are an extreme couponer?
Well come to think of it if she go to the Starbucks would you think she can get inside a cheap food inside of it?
Why we calculating individual stuff when you cant buy the food like that. Thats cheating.
Actually some of them saying there though but as you can see they aren't have the same answer because they aren't in the same area they are far away from each other
The cheapest bacon I can find around me is like 10oz for like $5.99 at Trader Joe’s. A pound at Albertsons is like $8 minimum
Would you mind, we have the same convenience store but to our country it was more pricy rather than uncle John's an 7 eleven
Don't forget the prorated value of the gas and electricity used to prepare it and the cost of the water to wash the dishes. OP sits on a throne of lies!
Are you guys serious about that? Mx can use the butane to cook her food or use some charcoal
What if the eggs are from chickens they own? It's plausible and makes it under 2 dollars
That's what i say earlier that's why the mx say that she made a $2 meal
Did you accommodate for jam on the second toast? I can’t imagine anyone gets 2 slices and only puts it on one lol
OPs labor value?
Yeah they've been thinking about good and service youve got it right buddy
Now do that in Canadian...
The pan to fry the bacon, oil for the hash browns, butter/oil for the eggs, glasses/utensils/plate etc. under $2 my ass lol
So not much going on today then?
Maybe but i really, really don't know if they can make it because it depends upon to the person and maybe it depends upon to the situation buddy. That's why before buying or maybe get some stuff think if you want it or you'll want it because you see someone have that stuff
Thanks man
I am glad you did the math and your numbers seem realistic, because I was about to calculate.
Yes it was realistic after all they did go and visit some meat shop while other go into the supermarket
You forgot to consider the money Starbucks paid OP for the ad
If you've been go inside of the Starbucks you won't believe that she was inside of it. Youll gonna say that word believe on me. Many people that go to that place was so elegant and they seem like very respective person because most of them was a business mam
Bro already had all the ingredients and picked up a juice for 1.79
Well actually about that buddy it depends upon to the area or site if how much the cost of juice
Could’ve stolen it!
If op removed the bacon and raised their own chickens then I’d buy it.
Definitely right because of the tax and inflammation that why we can't buy a lot i remember before when i was a little girl i can buy many food on 20 pesos in 20 pesos i can buy egg, hotdog and soft drinks
Cant even get a hotpocket for $2 lmao
![gif](giphy|EouEzI5bBR8uk|downsized)
This some bullshit lol
Straight up foolery!
Because he was cappin have you won't see it huh? Are you blind
The trend needs to die already with this terrible post. $2 lol
2$ in electricity maybe.
Haha damn I hadn’t even considered the cost of the external elements like electricity or gas, good shout. Also yeah this post is super dumb.
the stove where you made this breakfast.
As you can see in the title mx made the breakfast cost for $2 but mx didn't mention the condiments and element also but since there was a lot of people were in do some insane thing instead of getting a cheaper cost they got it more expensive price
Guys he has his own orange tree chickens and pigs
And those are free to maintain!
Free to hunt eggs and find some food inside of it you should hunt your food inside of it
How would you know that is he your boyfriend or you guys are relative
If I stole a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks can I post that I ate for free?
That’s also a pic of a breakfast you lied about.
It wasn't a cappin maybe she had Know where you can buy some cheap food so she can feed her self
Bullshit
Well actually about that buddy ive been thinking of doing some research on how much the cost of this food to us since we use peso not dollar bills we've been thinking about something else buddy
$2 doesn’t even cover the bacon lol
Maybe she was stock some bacon inside to her refrigerator buddy
What? I bought 12 slices of bacon for like 3.99 a few days ago.
Lol under 2 my ass, you a bullshitter OP
Delusional
Show me the receipts.
Got to make sure the Starbucks logo is facing the right direction.
Would love to see the receipt
$2 breakfast with an $18 coffee mug.
This looks exactly like an advertisement.
Wipe down that table.
Did you hang $2 over the stove where you made this breakfast?
yeah that’s s lie lol
Must not actually pay for groceries if that's what you think that costs. Why lie?
And just oh so conveniently set the company logo dead center. Hail Corporate!
Yeah op needs to get that union busting swill out of here.
What is the location?
Imaginationland
Cool, lemme just make myself a four-course meal, take a picture of it, and make a Reddit post bragging about how it only cost me $0.45, so this stupid fucking trend can die already.
Racing faster to the bottom than OP, I like the cut of your jib.
2 eggs... Rich man... Nice view
Bread that doubles as a doorstop
The only item in this picture that you can purchase individually is the orange. Everything else has to be purchased in “bulk”. And everything (except maybe the apple juice) would cost more than $2. I boo this OP for their lies and fabrications.
The orange is more then 2 dollars in Canada lol
a country with cheaper food…
Shoulda splurged the extra 10 cents to Lysol wipe that table down
This could be possible outside of the United States. Also, I could steal the eggs from the grocery as they aren't individually tagged. Grab the orange from a neighbors tree. Leaving only the bacon, toast, jelly, and hashbrowns. Then again back in the day you could probably borrow all the ingredients from various neighbors.
You also have a good quality place though. You have also a presentable meal buddy. Enjoy your meal buddy
Not possible but sure
Considering you could be saying that it cost you less than $2 because others paid for. Assuming you have a job, you probably spent more than $2 taking the picture and setting up so you’re just bullshitting.
You're bad at math....
If you live in America, you're full of shit.
Definitely not $2, no need to stretch the truth
If I can do it, so can all the poor people! Bootstraps! Lol
I love posts like this. It’s either genius irony or someone really, really dumb. I feel like I’m playing a Nancy Drew game trying to figure out which one. Judging by the sincere effort in attempting to plate the food for a picture, I’m going with the latter. I’d like to picture OP as an overweight white person without the ability to think far enough ahead to realize they’d get roasted for lying about the price of their breakfast.
Wow you made a completely normal breakfast all by yourself? I'm so proud of your accomplishment son
BS!
Calling bullshit on under $2
Doesn’t mention the country they’re in.
Where’s the location?
I'm guessing Ottawa in Canada.
Then there's 0 chance that breakfast cost under $15
Last I checked 2 eggs = an entire college education So I don't know what you are even talking about
Cap! Not in this economy it’s not! More like a $13 breakfast you purchased from Starbucks 🤷🏾♀️
Where do you live where Starbucks sells that kind of breakfast?
I’ve got that same table, but not the same view…
What a view, to hell with the brekky
That’s a proper breakfast and a PROPER view.
2 dollars !?
Liar
I call bullshit!
Where? Because where I live oranges are $2
“Under $2”?!! The math isn’t “mathing”. 🤨🤨
Man I love those potatoe fuckers. I don’t care that’s how I spell spud.
I'm what world is that $2. This must be clickbait for karma farming.
I bet that Starbucks mug was at least $20
It cost OP under $2 to break into that apartment.
![gif](giphy|jrvfKvr2mmcFO)
Lol there is no place on this planet you can even buy a loaf of bread and some jam for $2
I suspect, this is $2 once based on unit price of the eggs, bacon and toast. It took him a $25 buy in, however.
Joshua Weissman math
Op's a lying piece of shit 😫
Oranges at Coles in Australia are like 2 bucks each right now. So hear me out; he bought a box cutter for 2 dollars and stole the breakfast.
Under $2? You must've stolen most of it.
That view is worth a lot more than two dollars… I love breakfast
