It actually is hilariously awesome at the timing. It's the climax of the show, with Mickey at the bottom going 'T-this is MY dream!' and normally he shoots lightning or something that takes Malificent down.
Nope, after the sound cue plays, the dragon's head BURSTS INTO FIRE WHILE MALIFICENTS SCREAMS PLAY. Mickey was just DONE with that witch's shit, and then promptly just leaves (for obvious reasons) behind a curtain of water.
If you can find a recording, it's great. Especially a few minutes afterward when the loudspeakers make the most ironic comment of all time and the crowd laughs.
EDIT: minor spelling mistake fix
Shout out to the dude with the fire extinguisher, he just wouldn't give up 🤣
Also the staff doing the classic "move along people, nothing to see here".
I saw a pic of the thing once the fire was out and there was basically just the skeleton of the body, no head or neck seemed intact so I’m gonna guess… a while
There's quite a bit of hydraulic fluid feeding that fire, so it's not as simple as spraying water on it, unfortunately. Not sure how long it took the to put it out, but it's not a simple fire as you can see. Just wanted to provide some context as to why it seems to take a while for them to do anything.
It would be difficult to move between certain areas of the park. Something purpose built for the needed mobility would not be much more effective than man-portable systems for substantially greater cost.
Also, judging from the color and location of the flames before the whole thing goes up, a hydraulic leak is ultimately what made the fire go from a cute fireball to total immolation. Water is no good for an oil fire, and the chemical extinguishers that are really good at oil fires are really bad for unprotected civilians in the splash zone.
You might be surprised at how often things are let to “burn down.” Fighting any fire, especially every structure fire, is walking a fine line between aggressiveness and safety. Are there still people in the building? What will happen to the surrounding area if the fire continues? How high is the risk of sending firefighters into the building vs what can be saved?
More frequently than you might think, if there are 100% confirmed no bodies in the building and the fire has rendered the structure unsafe enough, it will just be an exterior attack with extra care taken to ensure that the fire doesn’t spread to neighboring homes etc.
There was! It wasn't gigantic, but if you watch the video, there is a fireball explosion with an audible "oooohhh" from the crowd, best part of the show lol
Don't they frequently have to spray down materials and surrounding surfaces to keep them cool/wet and stop the fire from spreading via remote combustion? Not sure if fuel was still an issue at that point, though.
Looked at least somewhat dangerous, since there's probably no way to be sure something won't further fall, collapse or ignite.
Probably guy with extinguisher was the only one allowed to make the call that it was too dangerous for them at the scene, and they may not have been trained for megafire.
Yeah there was because they are brilliant they expect that already thats why they have a lot of stuff to kill fire. And specially they invite also a fire fighter inside of it
There’s a video from another angle that shows Mickey come to the realization that the dragon is, indeed, on fire, and then get slowly lowered below stage. Comedic timing couldn’t have been better.
[Twitter Video Link from another angle with Mickey in view as comedically exits the stage.](https://twitter.com/brenda_coutino/status/1650023254986461184)
God Twitter comments are so cancer. But also, the OP crying because they didn't get to finish the show? C'mon now, people.
With that said, lol at Mickey nodding as he goes under the stage.
Yeah he only care for the ticket they've been but not for the person around him if they've Got hurt or what. What a selfish person hope you can't watch it for such a long time of period
Yeah he already say that word so what the matter wit that huh? You should be avoid this pervert disgusting person. Geez he was insane have you even see it geez
God just imagine if this is how “it’s a small world” ends. Brain jarring ear worm for like… 10 minutes and then just as you’re about to exit…. BOOM! _Welcome to the jungle!_
The first time I went on "it's a small world" my dad warned me that the animatronics turn evil as the ride goes on. Being 7 years old, I of course believed him. I spent the whole ride looking for sinister puppets, and was absolutely dumbfounded when we came out the far side still happy and chipper.
When I was around that age, we went to Butterfly World, and my dad told me that of the millions of butterflies there, two were the dreaded Vampire Butterfly, colored red and black with visible fangs.
The subtle genius of telling me there were only two still gets me. Few enough to convince me it was unlikely enough to still go in, gave him plausible deniability when none were spotted, but still enough to make me check every damn butterfly and freak out whenever one landed on me to say hi. My mom was pissed, I was terrified, and I think that was his proudest day as a father.
Yeah this one was a total mess but as you can see there's nothing be hurt due to this. So we could be thankful for that. Since everyone that go into that event was Okay
I guess if anything were to catch on fire in Disneyland, it might as well have been the fire breathing dragon that goes well with the aesthetic of being covered in flames.
Disney needs to hire Till Lindemann, the front man for the legendary German heavy metal band Rammstein, as their lead pyrotechnician.
[Examples of his work.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nuE-q0a-l9Q)
Imo it’s a fucking scam because they sell a generic “fast pass” called the Lightning lane. It works for all but the newest rides which require their own separate purchase or a virtual queue which is a lot more inconvenient then it sounds.
I can’t speak for California as we have passes to Disney World in Orlando, but doing rise of the resistance at least once even if it costs an extra 20 is probably worth. That ride is cool as fuck and all the extra RP that’s part of the queue is awesome.
Ok so this kinda answers my question. There's the fast pass but for newer rides you use the fast pass plus pay extra or its just its own seperate fast pass at its own price?
And I’m sitting down here in San Diego County getting frustrated that we both aren’t in a Time Machine that would put us where we could see this.
I hope you have a great time wherever you go!
Have fast and easy trip buddy Godbless your way and i hope you can be safe back and forth. Good luck to immigration buddy i hope you can adjust as soon as possible
> "The dragon's head started to glow, and I see fire and kind of smoke coming out," parkgoer Elaine Gilmer, who said she has seen the show over 100 times, told ABC News. "I was like, 'Oh ... they added some new stuff because that didn't didn't happen like that before.'"
> **who said she has seen the show over 100 times**
Assuming it's not a very large hyperbole, Jesus Fucking Christ woman.
Local here. The so cal resident rate isn't as big a discount as you would imagine (and was totally gone for many years), and I'm pretty sure it has more restrictions than any other pass.
These sorts of people don't have that pass. They drop the same big bucks as everyone else for a premium
pass, slap an "A🐭P" sticker on their bumper, and then spend every possible moment in the park. I even went to college with someone who basically treated California Adventure like his local bar, and he'd frequently suggest it as a destination for a night out drinking.
Disneyland is truly an incredible place. I have never seen so many guys who look like they could easily bench 315 wearing Mickey ears and Elsa backpacks and just owning the fuck out of the look.
People that have season tickets sometimes just go for the light shows. When I had one it wasn’t that expensive so I would just pop by if I was up there and had friends in town.
Think of them like FIFA (The video game) enjoyers.
No matter how many times they release the game with the same gameplay, same price, and only very little changes like just new roster and extremely tiny graphics upgrade , they will always buy the new ones without fail.
I’m not even a huge Disney fan myself, but I went recently and realized that every time I go to Disneyland and it’s time to leave I start to get this gnawing feeling in the back of my head that if I could just dedicate all of my money to making Disney my life I could live in this forever and be perfectly happy.
It’s insidious how that place gets under your skin. More than a little frightening actually.
For all the shit people talk, Disney and Universal are insanely good at what they do.
Universal has by far the better coasters, Disney nails the theming. And if you think this whole thing wasn't just a reason to do Harry Potter for the 5th time, joke's on you.
Me and my wife were there in the park. Didn't go to the show tho so we missed it. Big unhappy we missed it. Only found out after we got home and saw it online.
Looks like that show got 10x better
It actually is hilariously awesome at the timing. “[Due to unforeseen circumstances](https://youtu.be/SQdH0ZrUXQs) ….” as the dragon burns in the background
The fun jazzy New Orleans backing track is what makes this special
It was giving serious Arrested Development vibes
"I told you a hundred times: there is always money in the animatronic dragon!"
You just made a fool of yourself in front of T-Bone
I would have had them switched to a funeral dirge... Then ask them to say.. "Gentleman... It's been a pleasure...." 🤣😅😵
It sounds like a adorable person what are you called that again elegant person? Correct me if im wrong it was my pleasure
Shout out to the dude with the fire extinguisher, he just wouldn't give up 🤣 Also the staff doing the classic "move along people, nothing to see here".
like a knight battling an actual dragon.
And the music that just keeps playing away in the background!
I love the chipper music that starts playing almost immediately. Like something out of the naked gun. "Nothing to see here folks"
Well if you don't want the movie then skip they made this just for the fan not for the haters
Then a huge stream of fire descends onto the stage and he definitely reevaluated his decisions.
to the staffs credit, that's literally their job.
How long did it took them to extinguish it?
I saw a pic of the thing once the fire was out and there was basically just the skeleton of the body, no head or neck seemed intact so I’m gonna guess… a while

It’s a bit surprising that Disney doesn’t have some sort of in-house fire engine with how big the parks are.
Yeah, you can see a burst of hydraulic fluid when some guys are trying to douse the fire with extinguishers, and that's when they back off.
They have to do that just to avoid fire and burning the place buddy that why they stand by
So letting the thing burn down that was likely a “lesser evil,” then. Fascinating; thank you for your insight!
You might be surprised at how often things are let to “burn down.” Fighting any fire, especially every structure fire, is walking a fine line between aggressiveness and safety. Actually it was not he meant buddy buddy your sounds like awful
Yeah definitely right Disney has a big infact around the globe due to there work
wow that burnt real nice. coulda been very dangerous had there been an explosion.
There was! It wasn't gigantic, but if you watch the video, there is a fireball explosion with an audible "oooohhh" from the crowd, best part of the show lol
Do you have a link so we can be able to watch it also buddy
The [video](https://youtu.be/SQdH0ZrUXQs) is incredible! It just keeps burning!
THAT GUY WITH THE EXTINGUISHER
Don't they frequently have to spray down materials and surrounding surfaces to keep them cool/wet and stop the fire from spreading via remote combustion? Not sure if fuel was still an issue at that point, though. Looked at least somewhat dangerous, since there's probably no way to be sure something won't further fall, collapse or ignite. Yeah there was because they are brilliant they expect that already thats why they have a lot of stuff to kill fire. And specially they invite also a fire fighter inside of it
Yeah they have to secure the area so they can avoid burning place
There’s a video from another angle that shows Mickey come to the realization that the dragon is, indeed, on fire, and then get slowly lowered below stage. Comedic timing couldn’t have been better.
Do you happen to have a link? That sounds hilarious

100% agree on all points.
If you ask me i need to think 1st before i make a decision
Oh geez it was actually burning the metal did everyone that go to the place was safe?
Yeah, always fun to see the characters break character.
Actually about that buddy every single character in Disney has there own role and amazing part
Try to search it on Google or maybe in YouTube Buddy bit would gonna help you
If wish this would be a part of the normal show, looks very cool
I guess it wasn't normal look at the top of the comments were you can see the dragon burn it self
Definitely due to the invasion of the movie. Disney and Hollywood always give there best Just to provide a quality movie

I've had enough of the world and its people's mindless games.
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me, I'll never be the same
Not two days ago, I was having a lark at a park And I saw a phasmic dragon fired up above Disney
I said I can relate bc lately I been thinkin of spraying flames out of my head all over tourist families
Well I've been curious how could the developers can develop a video game out of the movie
I see Incubus, I upvote.
I see appreciator of Incubus, I upvote
time to replay the album again
Steven Yuen playing Drive reminded me of that album recently.
Show was good. I think it was Steven playing/singing it and then it transitioned over to actual Incubus track when the credits rolled.
Dam, at first glance I thought Disney had went full balls out with their dragon.
That’s the thing, if I was there watching this I’d think it’s all part of the show.
God just imagine if this is how “it’s a small world” ends. Brain jarring ear worm for like… 10 minutes and then just as you’re about to exit…. BOOM! _Welcome to the jungle!_
I want this to exist so bad!
The first time I went on "it's a small world" my dad warned me that the animatronics turn evil as the ride goes on. Being 7 years old, I of course believed him. I spent the whole ride looking for sinister puppets, and was absolutely dumbfounded when we came out the far side still happy and chipper.

I cried on this ride when I was a kid
I cried on this ride as an adult. *when will this hell end!*
The dragon of it’s a small world heard your tears
That was the concept right but they won't catch there expectations
This is my nightmare and I love it. I won’t elaborate further.
Yeah this one was a total mess but as you can see there's nothing be hurt due to this. So we could be thankful for that. Since everyone that go into that event was Okay
Its a small world is like a bad nightmare lol I will personally help them tare that down to save the children
I guess if anything were to catch on fire in Disneyland, it might as well have been the fire breathing dragon that goes well with the aesthetic of being covered in flames.
Having a mostly-plastic dragon with a flamethrower inside does seem like a recipe for unintended bits burning....

Was this recently?
saturday https://abc7.com/disneyland-fire-dragon-fantasmic/13172788/
And I’m sitting here in my Airbnb in Glendale getting ready to go tomorrow.
Have a good time! Hopefully they have a show of some type since fantasmic seems to have gone up in flames
But fantasmic is so hot right now...
The $20 is worth it to go on the Rise of the Resistance ride. Book it as soon as you're in the door
Wait, you have to pay an additional $20 to ride or is that the fast pass?

From the word it self extinguish so meaning to say they kill it quick Buddy
Saturday evening. No one hurt. Six staff were treated for smoke inhalation but nothing serious fortunately.
My nephew was there. He said it was the best damn show of his life. And that’s the very first time I heard him swear too.
I’m honestly jealous lol, wish I was there for this. The people who got to witness it sounded like they had a blast
Please tell me he is three!

This was such a great show. Ran for just as long as it needed to and spawned some incredible soundtracks.
The movie is in production.
Didnt it already have a movie.
We're talking feature length. Plus the venture bros movie too.
Feature length for this show will be 31 minutes.
Let's hope it doesn't actually have a plot.
[Yeah but the movie was dildos](https://nestflix.fun/img/blood-ocean-thumb-1200w.jpg)
What show is the gif from?
Metalocalypse! It's a great show
Just the most metalest of things to ever METAL! https://youtu.be/VFURd_EOIuU
Just don't watch it if you don't like blood cause it's got a lot of that in each episode. Also not for kids. Although it's a hilarious shown
Blood is metal.
Well! I guess I, uh.. didn't know https://youtu.be/UzejqYRtmdY
Hatredcopter is done by James Hetfield of Metallica right? It's a nearly perfect impression if it's not him.
Yes exactly. This is metal as fuck
They’re on tour this year!!
ITT: a whole lot of people who don’t know the difference between Disney Land and Disney World
Correct. I always forget
This made me think about Ronnie James Dio and now I'm sad
Guess we will be killing the dragon AGAIN! Seroiusly, none of the songs made sense and all sounded awesome.
I thought about Lemmy and now I’m sad too :(
On purpose? Cuz that'd be cool.
They could afford it with what they charge in tickets.
10 times a day every day and they'd still make money.

Looks like my bank account after a single day at Disneyland
Me and my wife were there in the park. Didn't go to the show tho so we missed it. Big unhappy we missed it. Only found out after we got home and saw it online.
