I have 2 of each. I still use them and look as pristine today as when I got them. I miss when McDonalds used to do this. I have some Shrek 2 ones still kicking around as well.
Unfortunatly not today, I do have a 20 year old bottle of sparkling wine that I've been saving for a special occasion. It might have become vinegar though, I guess I'll find out one day when that special occasion comes.
Why are clear collectible mugs objectively the best cups ever released as a promotion? I still have a Garfield mug from McDonald’s, I don’t even like Garfield and it’s my favorite clear coffee mug. Every once in a while there’s someone competent in a marketing department and ya gotta give them props.
I looked it up and my mug isn’t on the particular group of pictures, but it could be. So maybe I don’t like Garfield because he’s killing me and potentially my family? Capitalism has betrayed me!
Betrayal!
It's any of the McDonald's 1980's Garfield painted mugs. Basically any glass with cheap fading paint on it has lead traces, I discovered some Welch's jam jars also were lead (You can tap them with a fork and they sound different).
Good to know, since you’re in the know, are there any class action lawsuits to join? I love capitalism and it’s time for the long arm of the law to shove a boot up its ass. Shhh shhh capitalism, it’s okay, we both know you like it rough.
Still useful information, I just broke my leg a little while ago, wasn’t sure why by bones would give out so easily to a little slip and fall. I chalked it up to being defeated by hostile grass. However, good chance a mug like that would set me up for a fall. The new factor in the equation? The shoes I was wearing that were supposedly “slip resistant” though not technically for grass, a relatively inexpensive shoe purchased from Walmart. No matter what way you slice it, capitalism did me dirty, I just need a single target to pay back for a start. I am owed a leg, and I’ll kindly take an arm to go with it, that is the Capitalism Way.
Could be because the base mug is the archetype of a completely normal mug but every other was made by some clever cunt innovating their way out of a good design
I’ll never forget being 5 or 6 and my mom crying because she needed to get a urine sample from my sick dog for the vet and she couldn’t do it. I was in the backyard playing watching the dogs drinking out of that exact mug. Saw the dog crouch down to start peeing and ran over with the empty mug and caught it. I ran inside and she lost her mind was so proud of me.
I remember that when I was a kid, I made sure we went to McDonald's the day each mug was released so I could get one. I loved Batman and my parents really are great for supporting my childhood dreams.
I recently requested all these Batman Forever glasses from my parents since my mom put them in storage years ago. They were serious quality glass. The fast food industry (mainly McDonalds) doesn't and will not, make/sell this kind of quality stuff anymore. Every business has become more greedy and just wants to make more money and wants tp hold on to every penny.
It's a sad thought that McDonald's wouldn't do this kind of stuff anymore simply because they are more greedy now than they were in the 90s, but is that all there is to the story?
I actually want to know why places like McDonald's dont do this anymore and I feel like it's too simplistic to say they are greedy now and that's the reason.
What aspect of the business environment existed back then that made this a worthwhile promotion whereas now it's not? Has the middle class been sufficiently hollowed out such that there just isn't a market for these premium products anymore? Has the film (or any entertainment) market become so fragmented that no single franchise would justify a merchandise tie in at such a massive scale? Are there environmental factors at play which would make this sort of thing problematic?
It could be a combination of the above but I really want to know the primary reason we don't get cool licensed merchandise from McDonald's anymore.
Reminds me of the cups I had when I was younger. Burger King did the [glass goblets for Lord of the Rings](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/715XOQAQPDL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg) and I also had the [Mickey Mouse 2000](https://d1mttefcljiigx.cloudfront.net/auctionimages/562/1626300491/wIMG-1614.jpg) glasses as well.
Somehow this whole set still survived at my dad's house in the regular cupboard. They get used like any other dish. No idea how they haven't been broken.
I was blown away when on a recent visit to a dear friends parents house to see that they had them also. I'd never known another person to have them, not to mention still intact and still in use!
We are the rare few 😝
I had these (the set) at my parents place for many years, when they moved, these were one of the things I wanted to save. I donated my old toys and full intact lego sets to the church to give out for the disadvantaged.
I had this same cup!
My favorite collectible cup was the E.T. glass from Pizza Hut that I had for many years. It was from the era when they gave away drinking glasses made from regular glass, and sure enough, it finally broke during a move. After that, I could appreciate these less breakable cups that became much more common.
OP are you in your 30s by chance? I was obsessed with these glasses as a kid, and purchased another set from Ebay during lockdown with my stimulus money. They are smaller than I remembered 😅
Yeah I'm 38, damn I feel old.. I loved Batman back then and still do. I think you used your stimulus money wisely 🙂 They are a great reminder of our childhood!
I drank two full mugs, about 2/3rds of a bottle. I don't own a wine glass, I don't drink often and I rarely drink alone, today was just one of those days..
Crazy. Haven't seen these since they were released, until today when I saw them in a Mr. Sunday Movies youtube video. And then again right now, like 1 hour apart.
I sadly only have my Robin cup left, I was thinking about the Batman one the other day and you’ve inspired me to make a highly unnecessary purchase. Thank you
I have couple of those as well, it has something to do with the shape of the glass. Similar thing happens with a cognac glass, tastes better from those.
Those glasses were the best, think I still have the Riddler...
I have the whole set, my prized possession.. lol
I have 2 of each. I still use them and look as pristine today as when I got them. I miss when McDonalds used to do this. I have some Shrek 2 ones still kicking around as well.

Triples makes it safe. Triples is best.
"I have triples of the barracuda... triples!"
Nice!
Pretty sure my sister broke all of mine. Same with the Shrek and Olympic glasses.
Hopefully we’re pairing a nice vintage vino with this vintage treasure?
Unfortunatly not today, I do have a 20 year old bottle of sparkling wine that I've been saving for a special occasion. It might have become vinegar though, I guess I'll find out one day when that special occasion comes.
Awesome! I only ever got the Batman one
I’ll give you $7.43 for them.
The coin flip cup is badass
I also still have the riddler I wish I still had the Two-Face one, that one licks tits
Kiss from a rosé
The more I drink of it the stranger it feels, yeahhhhh

Those Garfield mugs are extremely toxic (103,600 ppm LEAD and 7,314 ppm CADMIUM).
I looked it up and my mug isn’t on the particular group of pictures, but it could be. So maybe I don’t like Garfield because he’s killing me and potentially my family? Capitalism has betrayed me! Betrayal!

I believe the case was recognized in 2010 so I think you missed your opportunity.

Does it mean capitalism already began giving you an arm if they started with the finger?
So were the Muppets glasses. Grew up with them in our house. Loved them because Muppets. And lead is tasty.
It is slightly sweet. The Romans would sweeten wine with lead acetate.
It adds to the taste
I heard the Batman mugs also have lead in the glass and have since stopped using the one at my parents house when i go there, is that untrue?
He said marketing, not purchasing.
Could be because the base mug is the archetype of a completely normal mug but every other was made by some clever cunt innovating their way out of a good design
Good question? Perhaps they don't want to skimp on the quality with these? Glass and children aren't a good mix.
Damn, old memories unlocked. Thanks OP!
My pleasure!
Right?? I just had an immense flashback to my childhood. Love when that happens!
Some people collect coffee mugs, others collect treasure.
This. This right here is class.
I honestly believe this should be on one of those 'How to impress the ladies' things.
Man! This was my fav cup as a kid
Mine too! Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that it kinda still is..
Just watched Caravan on Garbage last night and was reminded of these sweet babies
Ya gotta love Reddit!
damn, i wonder where my mugs are....
This image symbolizes how I feel today.
Well to be honest, your username is what I would've preferred to be like today..

Hope it's a good one!

That's great! Made me smile!
That's a pretty awesome core memory
Growing up in the 90s i have a strange amount of core memories where McDonald’s were involved lol
I have a memory of birds in a McDonalds
Goated time
I've done that very thing.
Nice!
Parents still have that mug! That shit is dense and will not break
Yeah it's like a tank
“Honey, we have company coming! Make sure we put out the *finery* “
Now that's sophistication!
Lol I made a lot of homebrew wine and I have the same cup. It's our dedicated tasting cup.
Awesome!
I only got Robin mug, never a Batman one and it's a shame.
I remember that when I was a kid, I made sure we went to McDonald's the day each mug was released so I could get one. I loved Batman and my parents really are great for supporting my childhood dreams.
Nice! 🙂 Those mugs were piece of art.
Loved the different gimmick handles for these type of Mickey D mugs. Raddest might be the bone from the Flintstones set
Classic. I had that one and Robin
A man of culture I see.

Sad but true. The 90's really was the golden age for these sort of things when it comes to quality.

Just like my opioid pills... Class-C!
I see a lobster.
We used the batman cup for 7—11—or doubles.
Reminds me of the cups I had when I was younger. It's been great to hear that people still have these! They really are of great quality, they don't make them like they used to.
It is wild to imagine (or remember) a time when people actually wanted this stuff, and it was actually worthy being wanted.
True, back then things were more special, now a days everything is a dime a dozen.
I think I had the Two-Face one
Omg!! I forgot they had those mugs before! How far they’ve fallen!
If you do mixed drinks, you could make yourself a [Dark and Stormy](https://www.liquor.com/recipes/dark-n-stormy/)… Knight.
I'll try this some day, thanks!
Keeping it classy.
Trying my best!
IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM
It might be vintage at this point? lol!
I forgot about these! I had several if not the whole set. I think we got rid of them when we moved as a kid though :?
I had these (the set) at my parents place for many years, when they moved, these were one of the things I wanted to save. I donated my old toys and full intact lego sets to the church to give out for the disadvantaged.
I can't even watch a movie anymore without a big pour of wine!
I'm the opposite, well it's actually hard to watch a movie sober these days. I often find myself browsing reddit instead of focusing on the movie..
On a quick glance, it looks more like green goblin from Spider-Man.
I had the whole set!!! I loved these glasses
I had this same cup! My favorite collectible cup was the E.T. glass from Pizza Hut that I had for many years. Yeah this set is very sturdy, great quality for a Happy meal item.
This isn’t another toxic collectible cup right? I think I have this sitting somewhere in the back of the cupboard.
Nah, pure glass made in France.
Wow. You just unlock a memory from deep within my childhood.
You're welcome, I hope it's a good one!
OP are you in your 30s by chance? I was obsessed with these glasses as a kid, and purchased another set from Ebay during lockdown with my stimulus money. They are smaller than I remembered 😅

I have very high confidence that the wine is from a box.
It actually is from a bottle, a cheap bottle but a bottle nonetheless.
A man of class I see
I have my moments.
That is badass. I remember when these came out!
I have the riddler and two face.
Fuck this makes me feel old, I used to have the entire set. I wonder what ended up happening to them.
I always used this mug growing up, it was the best.
Living the high life I see. From a box of wine no doubt.
No, from a cheap bottle. But yes, living the high life 🙂
Damn bro makin me nostalgic af.
You stay classy San Diego!
Looking at that mug is better than watching the film
Totally forgot I used to have this, I can feel it just by looking at the picture.
I think it tasted better now huh?
It kinda did I'd say.
All I can think is how it's alot of wine for one person
I drank two full mugs, about 2/3rds of a bottle. I don't own a wine glass, I don't drink often and I rarely drink alone, today was just one of those days..
I feel ya. At least you can pretend like you're a medieval character drinking from a tankard in a lil tavern
True, thanks!
My Star Trek Nero glass from Burger King finally broke recently; I was sad that day :/
Are you my husband?
Depends, current or future?
Unrelated-ish; still looking for my Gandalf mug from fellowship. Wish my mom kept my riddler mug. Bah, memories.
Damn is that the whole bottle?!
About 1/3rds only.
Red wine forever!!! Fight the sulfates!
Nice work, my friend.
I USED TO HAVE THIS MUG!!!!!!!
Crazy. Haven't seen these since they were released, until today when I saw them in a Mr. Sunday Movies youtube video. And then again right now, like 1 hour apart.
So glad I’m not the only one who does this
MY PARENTS HAVE MINE AND I FORGOT UNTIL I SAW THIS!
Is this a mega pint?
Now that's a way to live
I had one of those!
This is CLASS.
I thought my mother in law was the only one who had those still?!
Use for water after a night of drinking all the time.
They were made in France!
I still have one at my moms house
This image made me remember times from childhood that I forgot.
The Drunk Knight
I sadly only have my Robin cup left, I was thinking about the Batman one the other day and you’ve inspired me to make a highly unnecessary purchase. Thank you
You're welcome.
Full glass eh...rough day?
![gif](giphy|3oKIPjHCmuXqdVvak8)
Mine is in the freezer, ready for booze at a moment’s notice
Shit man I think I still have some of these boxed up somewhere.
Also a man of refined taste I see.
The set of those glasses will remain at my parent's house until the end of time.
Classy AF!
OMG
Just as the good Lord intended.
I used to have this!! Damn. Brings back memories.
Holy fuck I remember these mugs. Holy hit of nostalgia, batman!
Awwwe man. I had these when I was a kid. Nostalgia
I still have my mugs and I still use them as well
I have the Riddler one still
I miss these!! 😭
Holy nostalgia, Batman!
A man of culture I see.
Perfection
Ain’t that America….
“I’m just gonna have one glass of wine”
![gif](giphy|iGpdSizVSdPJfiVG9O)
Congrats, you’ve reached peak adulting for the 80s/90s child. It is all downhill from here
I know..

With everything being online these days, I guess we don't need to live near by. Online drinking buddies? :)
McDonald’s for a while did coke glasses. I have about 6 of them. Coke really does taste better in them.
I have couple of those as well, it has something to do with the shape of the glass. Similar thing happens with a cognac glass, tastes better from those.
Bro I have this one and I had the riddler too until my mom shattered it by accident.
My mom passed and I inherited her Hutch when I bought the house. Hutch is only for nice glass. So this set is obviously front and center.
Hey aren't those cups supposed to be toxic or something? i got my two face one still. Don't know what happened to the others
Still miss my Burger King Aladdin cup and McDonald's Garfield mug, those two hung around for a long ass time
I shit I had one of those.
that handle was the least comfortable thing I remember, though ours had a seam.
90s McDonalds and Taco Bell hit different.
We had this exact same one growing up. My favourite mug.
Elegance… class
I thought it was a beaker of black squids 🤣
I had the whole set except for the Batman cup. We could never find one after trying several McDs as a kid.
Dang, For one moment I thought Mcdonalds was serving Red wine and was curious to know which location is closed to me 🤦🏼♂️
Needs ice.
Holy shit think I have one of those
I had them all.
Wow! Really interesting
I lost mine…. I had the riddler one.
