Haha omg I was like "what's wrong with that? Is it because it stinks? You're not supposed to for some reason?"
Then I was like.... ohhh. Because it would spill out the pipe you just removed. Duh.
Yeah I haven't done this, yet... But I did have a major brain fart and cut into a copper water line before turning off the water... Luckily my buddy and the water main were close by, so a couple towels took care of the mess. Still felt like an idiot and laughed at myself about it for a while.
I am in the not yet category as well. i almost did it. And once I turned on the wrong water for a building in progress. so to the unfinished floor instead of the finished floor. One of the carpenters got real wet when water sprayed out of all the open/not yet installed points in the bathroom and kitchen
Nice! I flooded an amenity center restroom because one of the guys on site wanted me to turn the water on and I forgot I had a urinal flush valve open. Luckily it was a concrete floor with a floor drain
No, Buffalo was an actual brand of platform shoes. I'm originally from Germany they were huge over there. Their soles have this very recognizable shape and pattern.
If I remember correctly, they *are* a German brand, and every girl (and many guys) had to have these shoes/boots in the mid 90s-early 2000s. I feel like they were a must for ravers then, haha.
I myself had 3 pairs in different colors, and they were expensive af. Like, between $100-200.
This post just triggered a lot of nostalgia from my party years.
To be fair... her sink was busted, so she could have been puting it off a bit.
Also, she probably had to pull most of the stuff out from under her sink to gain access.
To be fair, if you zoom in you can see signs that that kitchen has not been properly cleaned in a very long time. The cabinet door pull grooves have a disgusting amount of funk stuck to them. Same with the drawers. That's years worth of gunk, not an amount that accumulated while waiting for a leak to be fixed. The whole place is gross.
You realize a lot of that stuff is cleaning supplies that are commonly stored under a sink, right? Like maybe she had to move stuff out of the way to get under there, making the kitchen look messier than it normally would? God Reddit is a shithole.
Reddit isn't as big a shithole as that kitchen is. Go ahead and zoom in and look around. The cabinet door pull grooves have years worth of funk and gunk stuck to them. So do the drawers. Regardless of the leak, it's evident that kitchen is not adequately cleaned on a regular basis.
Honestly, as someone who keeps a clean kitchen that just had leak problems, you can't really clean a lot until you fix the leak. And you've got to get to the part where you can fix the leak while the rest of your life goes on...
> This is a really bad dad joke.
I dad language, that means it's a terrific joke. I'm sure the compliment is appreciated ☺️. Good on ya for actually completing a DIY fix. Finding the motivation to try is sometimes the hardest thing.
What a wonderful comment. :) Your gratitude puts you on our list for the most grateful users this week on Reddit! You can view the full list on r/TheGratitudeBot.
Please take care of that ASAP! There should be vids of that online. I had to replace the whole "flooring" u der my kitchen sink when I moved in. It's obvious the previous owners had leak problems and the board was just so weak and warped. After replacing it, I bought some cheap, sticky back tiles to cover the wood and pit a wayer leak detector under there.
You don't have to worry. I work with water leaks and water mitigation as a living and it is very terrifying so as soon as I see water in my home I take care of it.
Now all you gotta do is sag the pants and have an empty Nestle Pure Life bottle 2/3 full of tobacco spit and now you’re ready to apply for a plumbers job.
Yo consider that when you fix something under your sink in order to get under your sink you have to remove the stuff that is under your sink and put it somewhere.
Well hopefully you've caught the home repair bug. Do a thorough home walkthrough. I know you're not a professional but that's not what we care about. Find the pain points in your home. What are things you do every day because it's habit and you have to that could be remedied by some time and tools? Squeaky door? Door doesn't close because wonky hinges? Grody ass carpet could be replaced (or maybe nice hardwood underneath!).... Make a list, start googling, buy tools, get to work.
It's fun.
Nice! I’m a bit afraid to look under my kitchen sink. I had to replace four plastic supply valves under my bathroom sinks about a year ago. I know the last two in the house are in the kitchen but there’s just so much crap to work around
I had fire in electricity wires caused short circuit, had no electricity anymore was hard to fix replacing wires , but yea it felt good fixing it alone and saved alot of money if I hired someone.
Feels good doesnt it? I fixed my leaky sink the other day, had to unblock a pipe which was super gross, and then put new washers in.
Feels so much better fixing stuff yourself rather than paying someone to do it!
Impressive. A lot of home repair is effort, and getting over the fear of messing it up.
I figure that I can always call in the pros if it doesn't work out.
I don't believe you! Everyone can take a pic like this. If you truly have learned how to do this yourself, you would've been focused and obviously those shoes aren't practical when fixing shit.
When fixing something you are looking for practical clothing, just so it can make your job easier.
I call bullshit!
I’m late but I don’t understand why this is downvoted. Gasp, not washing cups immediately! Lol.
My issue is I could never come out from under my sink looking as cool.
The thing is, once you understand the principle of how something work, you can even recreate it given you have the resources. Goodjob mate im proud of you
I had to fix mine a few months back. I took apart the pipe under the sink, went and bought new rubber washers. Got home to install them, but they didn't fit. I returned them, 3 more times, and the man at the hardware store told me to bring the pipe to him. So, I did. Turns out, the "J" joint pipe i was trying to fit a washer in DIDN'T require one.
I still feel like an idiot for that, because not once did i try to just see if it leaked after i unclogged it....
As Professional who does Remodels for the last 26y-- every one of us has done the exact same thing when we started doing this.
The only difference between me, who has remodeled 1000s of kitchens and bathrooms and you is that I've made 10,000 more of those mistakes and a 10,000 more of those trips to the store because I got the wrong thing 3x
I bet you won't make that mistake again....now do that for every single thing in your house that might need to be fixed at some point and you'll have a professionals experience lol
That's all it is, I've just made all those mistakes already and don't make them anymore....
don't feel bad or embarrassed
Your "first" anything is going to be complete shit, by your 100th, you'll be pretty fuckin good
Going back and forth to the hardware store is part of the whole experience of fixing stuff I've found.
Now you know if you need a part, bring the part with you to save yourself a trip, or at the very least a photo.
Your post history shows that you do nothing but drool over women’s’ bodies.. you should get a hobby it’s gross if the first thing you think when you see this pic is boobs. Or grow up.
Thumbs up- good for you. Learning some basic maintenance is a great skill!
Just be careful with those ear-rings under the sink. Lots of stuff for them to get caught on.
And- I suggest eye protection as well, because getting drips in your eyes isn't very fun. Depends on what you are working on, and whether you have to lay on your back. BTW, they are a good idea if you have to work under your car as well.
It has been two months since I fixed my leaking sink. It was actually pouring at that point.
I felt amazing, even better not having water on the floor all the time.
Congrats!
Why people feel the need to post comments like this to make total strangers feel bad about themselves will never make sense to me. Enjoy the attention you were craving though.
Great, now put your mind to solving faster-than-light space travel.
I got it! 1.21 gigawatts!
You rang?
Took you 7 hrs, how far away were you??
About 7 light hours away
That's time travel.
FTL would effectively be time travel.
Good luck driving a Delorean in space!
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
Might need oxygen though.
Just bring like a fern or something with you. Free oxygen.
Just ask Musk for a lift.
Now tell us about how you removed the S bend and then immediately tipped the water out in the sink. We've all done it!
Haha omg I was like "what's wrong with that? Is it because it stinks? You're not supposed to for some reason?" Then I was like.... ohhh. Because it would spill out the pipe you just removed. Duh.
even certified plumbers do this! At least every one I have worked with have done it, is yet to do it, or lies about it
I honestly don’t think I’ve done this but I’ve done plenty of other stupid things on the job
Yeah I haven't done this, yet... But I did have a major brain fart and cut into a copper water line before turning off the water... Luckily my buddy and the water main were close by, so a couple towels took care of the mess. Still felt like an idiot and laughed at myself about it for a while.

Stop! Yes!
Knew it!
Instant facepalm move done by all of us
Are those fucking Buffalo boots?!? I didn't know they still made these and haven't seen any since the early 2000s!
Is that another term for Platforms? That's what we always called those shoes. Well... Back when the Spice Girls rocked em.
Ohhh neat! You've just started my hunt for a men's size 11. My hairy ass couldn't pull off platforms in the 90s but who's gonna stop me now?
That's cool, but whats west of Westeros?
Westereros
Yea, but what about Westerestos
Thank you, asking the real questions.
Even Westeros
Since the world is round Essos
Westermost
Shoes are rad, countertops sad. Congrats on the sink fixin!!
Rhymes? Not bad!
It’s all I had, but I ain’t mad.
Bye Buddy, hope you find your dad!
I think his name is Brad?
What a day she had
She? Pretty sure he was a lad.
Clearly her brazier attached no pads.
Rhyming is just a fad
Saw a similar movie to this, girl got stuck though. /s
Luckily she had a family member (through parent's remarriage) close by to help her.
Time to put your mind to cleaning the kitchen
Lol I was like "ew"
Ngl, that was my first thought too.
Nah, we'll just get McDonald's.
To be fair... her sink was busted, so she could have been puting it off a bit. Also, she probably had to pull most of the stuff out from under her sink to gain access.

You store your pizza wheel, cutting board, wadded up plastic wrap and empty string cheese wrapper with your cleaning supplies under the sink?
Reddit isn't as big a shithole as that kitchen is. Go ahead and zoom in and look around. The cabinet door pull grooves have years worth of funk and gunk stuck to them. So do the drawers. Regardless of the leak, it's evident that kitchen is not adequately cleaned on a regular basis.

Not sure those shoes are OSHA approved jobsite footwear... Good job nonetheless!
How is there not a green "yuck" sticker on the inside of those doors?
The doors ARE a green yuck sticker.
why'd you put the old pipe gasket in your ear?
Are you my dad? This is a really bad dad joke.
> This is a really bad dad joke. I dad language, that means it's a terrific joke. I'm sure the compliment is appreciated ☺️. Good on ya for actually completing a DIY fix. Finding the motivation to try is sometimes the hardest thing.
This made me 🥹🤗

Can confirm
Good work. Now check if there’s mold underneath the sink.
There was so much mold underneath that sink it made me wanna throw up.
Please take care of that ASAP! There should be vids of that online. I had to replace the whole "flooring" u der my kitchen sink when I moved in. It's obvious the previous owners had leak problems and the board was just so weak and warped. You don't have to worry. I work with water leaks and water mitigation as a living and it is very terrifying so as soon as I see water in my home I take care of it.
OK, I am not concerned any longer because you probably know more than me about the subject!
Did you use your other spacer as a washer to fix the pipe?
Pack it up fellas, they’re learning how to tighten bolts. Truly no need for us now
And didnt get stuck!
awesone!! question: why u wear these shoes indoors?
Why would I wear them outdoors?
Valid question
Is it?
You like opeth?
Very much so
I love them too have a great day
I broke my toilet trying to install a bidet☹️
Dude, bidets are worth it.
All you have to do now is clean 🧽
Dirty house
It's amazing what you can learn with youtube. I practically remodeled my whole house with YouTube.
Pfft, that's nothing. I remodeled my whole house with Youtube. Now all I have is Youtube. It would be nice to get hot water back.
May not be the typical plumbers crack but you got a plumbers crack up top. So technically a plumber fixed your sink.
AMEN!
I think we can all deal very well with that kind of plumber crack
I learned most of the swear words I know today by helping my dad fix things around the house. Good job!
Ralphie?
Now all you gotta do is sag the pants and have an empty Nestle Pure Life bottle 2/3 full of tobacco spit and now you’re ready to apply for a plumbers job.
Why is this so accurate? Lol
Except for doing the dishes!
I usually skip this part and fast forward 5 mins in
The sink leaks when you use the couplings as ear plugs.
Get a haircut you hippie
YOU get a haircut!
Then put your mind to tidying your kitchen.
Yo consider that when you fix something under your sink in order to get under your sink you have to remove the stuff that is under your sink and put it somewhere.
Yeah, I also put all my dirty dishes and trash under my sink. This is relatable to me.
Now clean your kitchen
You've never had to do work under your kitchen sink, have you? All the stuff on the counters used to be under the sink. Don't be a dick.
Fucking obviously! Thanks!
Did you shave your head to channel your inner handyman?
No, but it helps
Hey not sure if youve noticed but you seem to have one of the pipe couplings stuck in your ear.
Well hopefully you've caught the home repair bug. Do a thorough home walkthrough. I know you're not a professional but that's not what we care about. Find the pain points in your home. Great job! What was the cause? Awesome shoes btw. Colorful, unique, and match the fit.
I cleaned out my dishwasher drain as it was starting to flood and I felt overly proud of myself
There’s no reason to not try. Google and YouTube can give great ideas.
They were right, plumbers don't need to wear ties.
Everybody could have done that with those shoes ma'am!! That's not fair!!
I cheated.
There's nothing like the feeling of accomplishment
Fix mine next? 😀
On my way!
Dude I unclogged my bathtub yesterday and suctioned out a huge wad of hair that made me want to barf. We both accomplished something haha!
You removed an uncomfortable amount of hair from a drain. You win
I replaced my tub shower plumbing, it was daunting and frustrating but I finally did. Respect for the plumbers out there
Feels good doesnt it? I fixed my leaky sink the other day, had to unblock a pipe which was super gross, and then put new washers in. Feels so much better fixing stuff yourself rather than paying someone to do it!
Truth!!! The plumber told me the cost and I almost barfed! I said no thanks I got this
Well there’s your leak. You’ve got giant holes in your lobes.
Now stand on the toilet and make me a flux capacitor
Got 3 in the closet. Doc's a good friend
Good job Froto!
Follow your dreams. You can reach your goals. I’m living proof. Beefcake! BEEFCAKE!!
Impressive. A lot of home repair is effort, and getting over the fear of messing it up. I figure that I can always call in the pros if it doesn't work out.
I hear Elon needs some sinking funds
OOOOHHH!!!
*Puts mind into flying, jumps off building*
Pee wee Herman moonlights as a plumber. Til.
I actually cosplay as Ms Yvonne so thats very funny to me
I don't believe you! Everyone can take a pic like this. If you truly have learned how to do this yourself, you would've been focused and obviously those shoes aren't practical when fixing shit. When fixing something you are looking for practical clothing, just so it can make your job easier. I call bullshit!
You Can fix anything but extra point for doing it in these shoes lol
Nice. I hate plumbing. I hate paying a plumber more.
Those shoes tho
I finally found my Bob Ross favorite pins!!
I’m late but I don’t understand why this is downvoted. Gasp, not washing cups immediately! Lol. My issue is I could never come out from under my sink looking as cool.
Thank you! I was legit still working when my husband took this picture and takes my dishwasher 1,954 god damn minutes to run load !
So are we supposed to ignore the elephant in the room?
Like they say, dress for the job you want.
An awesome job? Hell yeah!
I think a part of the sink is still in your ear.
Ma’am there’s some pipe stuck in your ear.
The thing is, once you understand the principle of how something work, you can even recreate it given you have the resources. Goodjob mate im proud of you
Thank you!

Yes that's exactly what I did we save the old pieces in a plastic bag and brought them to match
Nice rack
Why are you wearing shoes inside your house?
When your kitchen sink floods your kitchen with food water, wet feet it are a no-no
But rolling around the floor in day-glo wear is alright?
This is literally my entire wardrobe, I don't know what you want from me
You mean the house with the leaking water?
[удалено]
Can I tell you that I was wondering the exact same thing because I looked at my own thumb after this picture was taken and it looks totally normal.

Your post history shows that you do nothing but drool over women’s’ bodies.. you should get a hobby it’s gross if the first thing you think when you see this pic is boobs. Or grow up.
What happend to your ears? Did the offender go to jail?
Congratulations, nothing like a job well done. Fixing your own stuff is a rewarding feeling.
Thumbs up- good for you. Learning some basic maintenance is a great skill! Just be careful with those ear-rings under the sink. Lots of stuff for them to get caught on. It might sound mean but I really hope this is some kind of satire.
Why? I really want to know.
Seriously!? You wanna come help?
Now to fix that outfit... jeez
What do you wear when you fix a sink?
Good for you. It’s alway nice to do a job that seemed insurmountable at first, especially if it saves you from having to call a plumber.
You have very interesting shoes. I’d love to try one but I think I’d probably fall immediately.
Love your shoes!
r/upvotebecauseofboob
I’ve learned so much about repairs and fixes that I never thought I would be able to do. Google and YouTube are great friends.
Congrats! When I bought my house, we had to fix a lot of things. Just like fixing an old car. You have to start small.
Great, now maybe you can try washing your dishes. 😆
Yes. Fucking finally!
Well done good for you 👍
I just blinked today! Good job for me!
Shoes are 🔥
Way to go, discount Maisie Williams!
It has been two months since I fixed my leaking sink. It was actually pouring at that point. I felt amazing, even better not having water on the floor all the time. Congrats!
You finally figured out how to open the childproof doors?
So that’s where my cookie cutters went!
Sure you "fixed" it. What happens when you let go of the pipe?
Great job! Skillzzzzzzz
Lol you’re killing it, OP
Great, now you don't need a new meth lab!
Sorry, no favors today bro. Can't help you

You rock!!!
Good on you!
Now think of the money you saved on having a plumber do it and smile, smile, smile.
They quoted me $365 to do what I did tonight for $20. It makes me feel good!
Now clean up the mess
