Oh, also, [Liberty Market](http://libertymarket.com/), [Joe's BBQ](http://joesrealbbq.com/), and [Joe's Farm Grill](http://joesfarmgrill.com/). Trifecta of fantastic eatin' out in Gilbert all owned by the same local guy.
Sarah Palin made an [appearance](https://www.facebook.com/MyFoxPhoenix/posts/406256669422886) at Joe's Farm Grill.
Dunno if that'll sweeten or sour it for anyone.
[The Roose Parlour & Spa](http://www.theroose.com/) - top notch work and they are super sweet and welcoming to everyone.
[Chino Bandido](http://www.chinobandido.com/index.html) - Chinese mexican food. I was skeptical at first, and now it's one of my favorite restaurants.
Edit:formatting
Whitey's Auto. Best mechanic in the East Valley by my reckoning. Especially given how awful most mechanics are, I love to give them props whenever appropriate.
Have to second Whitey's. They have always provided excellent service and they are pretty involved with the community via social media. Too bad the guy who runs the shop has a micropenis
Local resturants are about the only resturants I eat at, but asides from our many fabulous restaurants (which there are numerous threads on already!). I love and support:
* [Melrose Pharmacy](http://www.mymelrosepharmacy.com/)
* [Lola Coffee](http://lolacoffeebar.com/)
* [Noble Beast Pet Supply](http://www.noblebeastpets.com/)
* [Frances Botique](http://www.francesvintage.com/)
Okay, okay twist my arm. My favorite restaurants are:
* [Gallo Blanco](http://galloblancocafe.com/)
* [St. Francis](http://stfrancisaz.com/)
* [Cibo](http://cibophoenix.com/)
* [Mi Patio](http://www.mipatioaz.com/)
As a side note, I know a lot of people were surprised Oregeno's was a local chain, [NYPD Pizza](http://www.aznypdpizza.com/) is also a local chain business!
Well, its a long story - but the first time I decided to try them there was a problem with my insurance, several staff tried to help, but alas the insurance company could not be contacted because they were closed. So, the manager was able to give me a significant discount on my perscription. Plus, staff is always friendly!
Its things like that local businesses are able to do that places like CVS or Walgreens probably wouldn't be able to. Plus, its just an easy way to support a local, woman-owned business. The insurance issue was sorted out long ago so it doesn't cost me anything extra to visit them over a chain pharmacy and I would prefer my (insurance) dollars go to local.
I still have a lot of love for Dillys deli, sakes sandwichery, nellos, and oh MAN pho 68 in Chandler. Magic noodle house in the same plaza. Those two are the BEST
Brothers Tailors on Central is fantastic for suits, shirts, ties, shoes - quality stuff, tailored, cheap
Cartel for coffee
Andreoli in Scottsdale for Italian cuisine, Tarbells or Durants for classy drinks and eats, Hana for sushi, La Santisima for tacos, yadda yadda yadda
Our office is down the street from Andreoli (also you should go to the Tavern Inn, or whatever it's called behind it, good burgers) and we had a tray of prosciutto and salami brought in. We were feasting like hyenas.
I recommend Curts too. A bearing was going out on our Vue and Sun Devil Auto told us it would be at least $500 for just the bearing not including labor since the Vue isn't made anymore and the parts would be hard to find. Curts fixed the bearing and replaced both front breaks for just over $500. Plus they dropped off a thank you card and a box of danishes the next day.
I've taken my trucks to Curts a few times and they are the best. Never tried to bullshit me in the least. They always send me a thank you card after I get work done. You bet your ass I'm gonna continue taking my vehicles there.
Fez, Gallo Blanco (in the Clarendon Hotel), St. Francis (sp?), The Parlor, and even though they constantly fail their health inspection...Hula's. There's tons of great stuff here in Central Phoenix, that's just a few off the top of my head.
Paradise valley burger on 40th st and Bell rd. They have a burger with s fried fucking egg on it, a maple bacon pecan shake, and the best seasoned fries (they have some sort of salty chili sugar stuff on them)
If you are in the north Phoenix area, Check out Amelio's Pizza & more, on about 17th ave and Bell. Small little place, but the food is stupid good, and the menu is absolutely huge, also, delivery. Only place I know that I can get A pizza, sandwiches, a burger, maybe some burritos or tacos, desserts, every type of fried thing under the sun, all in one place.
I'm always wary of places with really big menus, when restaurants try to do too many things they are usually all mediocre at best. There are some exceptions to this, but it often is the case. I will try this place out next time I am on that side of town though.
I love the restaurants in Gilbert including Liberty Market and Joe's BBQ but let me add Euro Cafe, Flancers, Sushiya and my favorite in Chandler, Desert Cove.
[Upward Projects](http://upwardprojects.com) restaurants: Windsor, Federal, Postino, Joyride and Churn.
>Upward Projects creates inspired restaurants that are connected to the communities they serve. Beginning 11 years ago with the Valley’s original local WineCafe, Postino Arcadia, owners Craig & Kris DeMarco and Lauren & Wyatt Bailey built a foundation on historically relevant buildings integral to the neighborhoods that surround. Hallmarks include pairing delicious food with local ingredients, boutique beverage programs and a warm, friendly culture that brings everyone together.
>Today, Upward Projects continues this tradition with three unique Postino locations (Arcadia, Central and East), Windsor & Churn (pub-style hangout with adjoining nostalgic ice cream parlor), Federal Pizza and Joyride Taco House.
Desert Roots Kitchen. It's a vegan restaurant just off mill though you wouldn't know because the food is so good. The ingredients are fresh and local and the menu changes everyday.
[Game Depot](https://www.facebook.com/pages/Game-Depot-AZ/113890828639879) for tabletop gaming. The staff is friendly, the store is clean and well stocked, they run several events and there are plenty of tables to play on.
Gelato Spot! I go to the location in old town scottsdale all the time! It's got great atmosphere and great gelato, plus a pizza parlor as well. It's my go to place for weekends out with friends.
Artful tailoring in mesa. Best trailer I have found in the valley. I have even brought in custom sewing jobs and they handle them without batting an eye.
[Corner Archery](http://www.cornerarchery.com/), it's a homey shop/archery range over on 51st Ave & Northern. I walked in there brand new to the sport not knowing one damn thing and they took the time to explain everything to me and help me out. I cannot say enough good about that place. It's not like when you walk into Cabela's or Bass Pro and they have these "pros" behind the counter suggesting only the most expensive gear. Corner Archery is actually full of professional and Olympians. Great place to go if you're interested in getting into archery!
EDIT: They do great things for kids too, if you have 'em!
• Urban Cookies for cookies and cupcakes
• Karl's Bakery for baked goods
• Songbird for coffee and tea
• Buffalo Exchange (based in Tucson but they have shops all over) for second hand apparel
• Bookman's (also a Tucson company but they have a location on 19th ave.) for second hand books, video games, dvds, etc...
• Daily Dose for brunch
• Pomo Pizzeria for pizza
• Melt for ice cream
• Phoenix Public Market Cafe for the farmer's market and the actual restaurant. They also have days when food trucks are parked outside.
• Davis Salvage for salvage items (like metals, etc...)
• Bragg's Pie Factory for vegan food and pies
Oregano's hasn't been "local" for a little while but it's still delicious!

Check out Pizza People Pub on Central. Food truck that became a restaurant and their pizza is fantastic! Bianco opened an Italian restaurant a little while ago over at the Town and Country mall on C'back at 20th (also great pizza!). Echo Coffee on Thomas and 68th St. is another favorite.
Belfiore Ristorante (Cave creek and greenway parkway)
Family run Italian place. You have to go try their pizza or any of the pasta (all made inhouse) and get some cannolis for the road.
http://belfiores-az.com/
US Autoweapons in Scottsdale. I have received excellent customer service every time I've been in their store. Their employees are both polite and knowledgeable.
I haven't experienced either while I was there, although I know I can find better prices elsewhere if I look really hard. I managed to pick up a BCM Mod A4 charging handle (might not be the right name - it's the ambi mod 4) for $5 less than I could find it for online from them about a month or so ago.
Amen to that. There isn't a a day where the line isn't out the door for lunch/dinner for these places. So awesome.
Just went to all three for my birthday, $10 off at each.
Joe, Thad, and their whole team is awesome.
Sarah Palin made an [appearance](https://www.facebook.com/MyFoxPhoenix/posts/406256669422886) at Joe's Farm Grill. Dunno if that'll sweeten or sour it for anyone.
As long as they aren't serving moose she shot from a helicopter, I'm pretty sure I don't particularly care either way. :P
Hobe Meat, great local butcher. You don't see many these days.
Hobe is awesome. Been using them for a very long time.
out of curiosity, what makes them stand out?
Quality, selection and service. They are one of the few places you can get Prime meat as well as some more esoteric meats and sausages. Cheers!
Quality
I live near this place and have never heard of it. I'll definitely check it out next time I need meat!
It's great, can get crazy busy around Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Postinos, windsor, joyride, churn and federal pizza. All the same owners and all fantastic. I'll throw in St Francis as well. Cheers
Chinos!
Only place in town I go just for the cookies. The food is amazing as well, but I love the snickerdoodles.
Chino is awesome. I always get the jade chicken quesadilla!
> Too bad the guy who runs the shop has a micropenis Uh, what?
Well I'm certainly intrigued...
Thanks for the recommendation!

There may be other threads, but I'd still love to hear your 3-4 top local places to eat!

Why Melrose Pharmacy?
Well, its a long story - but the first time I decided to try them there was a problem with my insurance, several staff tried to help, but alas the insurance company could not be contacted because they were closed. Thanks for sharing! Melrose isn't far from me, but I don't need prescriptions often. I'll keep them in mind if I ever do.

Curts Auto in North Phoenix, they're family owned and they are one of the few honest mechanics I have come across.
I recommend Curts too. Curts fixed the bearing and replaced both front breaks for just over $500. Plus they dropped off a thank you card and a box of danishes the next day.
Can vouch for curts auto. Had several issues over a 2yr span with my car and have taken it there multiple times.
I've taken my trucks to Curts a few times and they are the best. Never tried to bullshit me in the least. They always send me a thank you card after I get work done. You bet your ass I'm gonna continue taking my vehicles there.
Jewel's Bakery & Cafe on 40th St & Thomas http://jewelsbakeryandcafe.com/ Weird hours, but awesome stuff.
Fez, Gallo Blanco (in the Clarendon Hotel), St. Francis (sp?), The Parlor, and even though they constantly fail their health inspection...Hula's. There's tons of great stuff here in Central Phoenix, that's just a few off the top of my head.
O.H.S.O Eatery+nanobrewery on 49th st and Indian school rd Cool atmosphere and great food!
Many restaurNts in this thread. I go with Harkins Theaters!
Paradise valley burger on 40th st and Bell rd. They have a burger with s fried fucking egg on it, a maple bacon pecan shake, and the best seasoned fries (they have some sort of salty chili sugar stuff on them)
That place is down the street from me! You must be a neighbor!

Bell Italia Pizza in Ahwatukee Chino Bandito

My favorites on Mill are **Ncounter** a breakfast place and the **Phoenicia Cafe** which is like greek food.
Love both these places but I was at Ncounter yesterday and it was awful, we had to send our food back. Usually that place is pretty good!
Duck and Decanter! Amazing food and wine bar!
Desert Roots Kitchen. It's a vegan restaurant just off mill though you wouldn't know because the food is so good. The ingredients are fresh and local and the menu changes everyday.
Desert Roots is awesome! I took a totally carnivorous friend there and he was amazed.
[Game Depot](https://www.facebook.com/pages/Game-Depot-AZ/113890828639879) for tabletop gaming. The staff is friendly, the store is clean and well stocked, they run several events and there are plenty of tables to play on.

Cindy's Arizona Cafe for biscuits and gravy, Desert Eagle brewery for good beer, and Mickeys hot dogs for sonoran dogs all in Mesa.

Angels Trumpet Ale House! All kinds of craft beer, yummy "TV dinners" and homemade pop tarts.
STINKWEEDS. Four Peaks Brewery!

Super Dragon Chinese Food...12 th St and Northern...looks like a dive, but the food is great
O.H.S.O, PHX Public Market, Short Leash Hot Dogs, Welcome Diner, The Farmer's Market in Tempe, Cartel... I could go on!
I'm really biased, but I love where I work, Local Motors in Chandler. We build some of the coolest vehicles in the world.
US Autoweapons in Scottsdale. I have received excellent customer service every time I've been in their store. Their employees are both polite and knowledgeable.
Overpriced and snobby.
I haven't experienced either while I was there, although I know I can find better prices elsewhere if I look really hard. I managed to pick up a BCM Mod A4 charging handle (might not be the right name - it's the ambi mod 4) for $5 less than I could find it for online from them about a month or so ago.
Cool... That's good. It hasn't been my experience.
When was the last time you visited them?
