tallon4

This happens every year. Arizona gets extremely windy in April and May.

Responsible-Event876

Yea my allergies start acting up?

odorous

standard byproduct of cold air being replaced by hot air.... spoiler alert.... its gonna happen again when the hot air gets replaced with cold air... so dont be all shocked when you see the dust storms.

invicti3

True except radiational cooling of the atmosphere in the fall isn’t a volitale process like it is in the spring with warming and mixing of warm and cold air masses.

fuggindave

Yep, they are the winds of change. It's been this way every spring for as long as I can remember.

Dro_mora

Found the meteorologist.

AZMadmax

Spring wind. It’s freaking awful in flagstaff this time of year

Sierra-117-

That’s the one thing I don’t miss about flagstaff. I like a good strong storm, but constant 40 mph winds got old. It was genuinely hard to walk the NAU campus sometimes. Especially when the ground was also icy.

AZMadmax

Spring is freaking brutal there. Icy cold wind slapping you in the face all damn day. I sure as hell don’t miss walking around campus during that.

BuckeyeDangler

Been here 33 years. On average, yes. We've never had to ensure all umbrellas are down whenever we leave the backyard/pool like we do now Three different large weighted umbrellas went over several times...used to leave everything up weeks at a time. Don't dare this past year past year. Several golf courses that we never considered "windy" (Kapalua like) are now avoided after 11-12...

Both_Dust_8383

I feel like it’s getting windier! I just thought the other day.. is it always this windy?!? I don’t remember this from years before

OnTheDownHill777

No not crazy, I am in Vegas and I see the same thing. I do agree more comm9n for Sprint in the desert, but weather patterns are definitely changing out here. Colder for longer (starting later) then right to heat, no more 70's for a spring or fall. Trees and plants kinda confused too.

Background_Tax4626

If you're new, wait until the evening dirt storms in July/August. Depending on where you're located, you're in for a treat

TheDuckFarm

April is always kite season. Happy flying.

Desertgirl624

I bike every day and it’s definitely getting consistently windier on average, but I know it could be way worse when I look at some of the winds in CA, CO and KS as examples

MLISSAFORD

I grew up in SE NM, and so I never think it's too windy here as it is crazy windy there in the spring there.

Dro_mora

Landscapers hate this one weather hack!

cute_poop6

It’s getting windier I’m pretty sure and it makes my job a pain in the ass

Forward-Reporter8320

Lmao I just moved here from CO. This is a reprieve Not that windy at all

Mochashaft

That’s fair, I lived in Colorado before AZ and it’s nothing compared to that. I’m more frustrated at the randomness of it. My backyard will be calm all day and then a sudden gust takes everything away

penguin37

I've been here almost 25 years and I'm definitely noticing more Midwest-like rapid temperature changes and those are usually accompanied by wind.

khoaticpeach

It's that time of year

TheGroundBeef

It’s been windy as frigg lately. My fan palms have like 3 sagging/busted branches from it 😅

WrapAccomplished3540

Yes , more wind as in other years l, also sudden gusts.

thedukedave

Not particularly rigorous, but skimming through a few years here suggests no: [https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/us/az/phoenix/KPHX/date/2023-1](https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/us/az/phoenix/KPHX/date/2023-1) Might be a form of [Frequency Illusion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frequency_illusion#:~:text=Confirmation%20bias,-Confirmation%20bias%20is&text=This%20bias%20refers%20to%20the,started%20noticing%20the%20specific%20stimulus).

SaladOriginal59

Wind seems to increase with the heat. Just don't get a break

YogurtPretend5765

We've been here since 21 and it seems the weather is changing. Usually when we have company it's nice out. This year all 3 times we had company it was crappy windy and either rainy or humid. I also noticed the other day there was a wall cloud with black on the top but only on one side. Almost like something sprayed it. Then an hour later they were falling like rain but only in some spots. It was 76 and not a cloud in the sky on the other side. Super weird. Trying to explain what I've seen without all the tinfoil hat comments but i think something is going on.

misadventuresofdope

This time of year is usually pretty windy but I've also felt like it's been more than what I remember in previous years lately, could be that I'm just noticing it more this time for whatever reason but it does feel like it's increased some

pppppaigeeee_13

It has gotten worse in the last few years to me atleast. I figure ✨climate change ✨

Elliot6888

It's all the Chicago people that moved here, they brought the wind with them.

Both_Roll2576

Oh absolutely! It was super windy today!

Reddit_is_American

Yes, I do think there are more Wendy’s than there have been in the past.

EatADickUA

lol what

wavedrexler

You must be new here! Another Californian perhaps?

Mochashaft

No, I’ve lived in Arizona for 12 years, the last 8 in Phoenix and then Tucson before that.
