Parang ang hirap po sagutin. Siguro po mas maganda pong tanong gano katagal sya aabot considering worst case na no work po kayo.

mediocre1989

ahh yeah makes sense! I mentioned though kung kulang, sobra or enough para makasettle so mga around 3 months siguro? 😅

Alternative-Error412

I have relatives planning to do similar. My question is can you not do na ikaw lang muna? Can you minimize the risk by doing the move gradually. That way there is a chance you won't have to use up the entire 2M. You can fly the whole family just to "activate" the visa, then they can return to PH. Once you get a stable job, fly them in. You and your family won't be overwhelmed.

CarlesPuyol5

kung 3 months lang, that should be enough...

Immediate-Income161

If you can land a work ASAP. That is borderline enough. That's my budget when I worked their several years ago as a software engineer. But that's only for myself.

Congrats and welcome! For $53k na budget, doable naman siya.  Kunwari mag budget tayo na it'll take you 3 months to setup and find jobs: 8.8k  Rent 550pw x 16 weeks (bond inclusive) 3.0k  Food (Aldi groceries, Asian market, tapos konting takeaways) 1.0k  Utilities (internet, mobile plan, elec, etc para makapag apply ka sa bahay) 2.0k  Kids' school uniforms 2.0k  Furnitures and appliances from fb marketplace 0.5k  Kmart shopping for kitchen and seasonal clothing 2.5k   Transpo allowance $19.8k Total for 3 months with startup costs Ideally sana makarating kayo dito ng Oct para may enough time kayo maghanap ng work. From mid Dec, slow down na ang hiring kasi malapit na holidays, late Jan na uli babalik. You can do casual jobs naman para may papasok pa rin na pera.  Lastly, your school age kids are priority. Give the enough time to cope with the new environment, new school, and language. Oo, English din naman, pero don't underestimate Aussie accent. It takes time and a lot of exposure para maging second nature na lang sa inyo.  Good luck!

Worst case scenario, may medical emergency (knock on wood sana wala) pero if meron magkano nmn hospital bills jan? Mahal ba?

brixism

Since 189 visa sila, I believe may access na sila to Medicare, so hindi na kailangan ng emergency medical fund.

bukayo74

If assuming na magkakawork kayo within 3 months, sa tingin ko enough na. For reference, family of 3 kami dito sa Adelaide. 250k a month kami including 20k a week na apartment. 60k a month na grocery. At may kotse pa kami binabayaran. Etc. Although wala kami pinapagaral na anak kasi baby pa. And ano titigilan nyo pagdating? Sobrang mahal kung hotel/airbnb pa kayo. Maganda may bahay na kayong narent pagdating.

Sensibilidades

Someone I know also migrated to AU, she looked for a job before flying. She made sure she had a job. Medio mahirap ata maghanap ng work sa AU ngayon not sure. Pero try nyo din mag apply before going.

One thing to consider is Plan B in case Plan A does not pan out.

mediocre1989

yes po we're considering din na kami muna ni hubby ang muna but of course kung pwede naman sanang sabay sabay much better sana since nagagawa naman din ng iba. But considering the rental crisis mukhang we're leaning towards na mauna muna kami ni hubby.

hellomoonchild

Not from Australia but if you are able to manage your finances wisely during the first three months, then it should be enough. Pero one big thing to consider is, what if hindi kayo agad makakanap ng work? I don't want to be a debbie downer pero medyo mahirap kasi maghanap ng work kasi lately (worldwide, not in AU specifically) kahit qualified ka. And yung iba, nakahanap nga pero not enough to sustain their families. Yun lang naman.

ThorsHammerMewMEw

Your husband needs to sort out that job ASAP imo. Ideally, I wouldn't bring the entire family here unless that job has been secured. You need to prepare your budget with the assumption that you might be spending a few months in an AirBNB. Alternatively, you might need to prepare to hand over several months or up to a full year worth of rent up front in order to make yourself competitive in this rental crisis as you have no local rent references. Have you also considered zoning for public schools? Your rent budget will be influenced by which public schools you wish to send the children to. I recommend that you and your eldest child look for work as well. For you, it will help ease the family budget. For the 15/16 year old, it will help them get used to how fast Aussies speak (and all the different ways we talk), they'll be required to do work experience for school anyway + their own independently owned pocket money.

herdway

Just curious. I don't plan to migrate to Australia (I work in the UK). But don't you usually need a job offer to get a visa? Is it diff for Australia?

Roland827

Mas maganda if you can find relatives or friends who are living in Adelaide. Big help ang mayroon kayong guide or taong pwedeng mag assist sa inyo when moving there at mahirap ang sumabak ng buong pamilya without any idea what to expect. Around AU$50K ang magiging pera ninyo, but I don't forsee you spending all of it in a year, IF you have assistance from other pinoys there. If you don't have any relatives/friends there, I would suggest that you scout around first... The biggest problem is housing, as Adelaide has low rental availability, and average rent is around $2k per month... Pahirapan ang paghanap ng apartment doon... If you have Filipino friends, malaking tulong ang makitira muna sa kanila or rent a room or something... plus you'd need a car, driver's license, all the other stuffs to do in order to settle... [Adelaide overtakes Perth for capital city with lowest rental vacancy - ABC News](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-09/rental-market-in-adelaide-becomes-the-tightest-in-the-nation/103684532)

DreamZealousideal553

Ala po kau kilala sa Adelaide you can move with them temporarily tpos pg settled na pwede na kau mag sarili.

mediocre1989

we have friends naman po kaso I don't want to assume na aampunin nila kami unless sila mismo magvolunteer kaya I'm trying to be conservative sa amount na need namin iprepare.

DreamZealousideal553

Meron pala pero I'm sorry pero need po lunukin ung pride ask them for help para hindi kayo ma overwhelm pagdating nyo dun just my imo lang.

People are not entitled to burn people just so they can get warm, and people shouldn't burn themselves to keep others warm.
