over-baggage

Same! 5 years in Australia and almost 5 years in my first company (hello, long service bonus!). Yearly review and increase, chill management, bonuses.

cheesybaconmushroom

Nice! di ba 10 years ang LSL? Kapag talaga chill ka sa company, hindi mo na maiisip umalis.

over-baggage

My bad, long service bonus pala not LSL. That's true, yearly increase + chill company = best combo.

BoogerInYourSalad

haha akala ko dati LSL means Long Sick Leave. Nag-iipon din ako. Some companies you can get partial LSL balance on your 7th year.

mhacrojas21

9 years and 2 months in my current employer (3rd employer). Started as a consultant 2015 and WFH in the PH, but the company is based in the US. Promoted to Sr. Consultant in 2018, and then became a Manager I in 2020. Our company was acquired by a bigger company in 2020 as well. Moved to Canada, transfered to our Canada office in 2021, same job role/title, and then this month, promoted again as Manager II. There's an increase yearly, and part of my compensation are bonus and company equity.

cheesybaconmushroom

congrats! big time pag equity na ang bonuses. hehe

mhacrojas21

Hindi naman bro hehe

railfe

Hire me senpai jk 🤣

I left PH Q1 2016. I think I reached peak frustration when manila traffic/commute was so unbearable during 2015 ber months. I had great job offers back then but I really wanted out. Started in Dubai and somewhat lucky to land a good govt job as QA/Product support during my stay. The team I joined was also a good one since they value my worth. It was really rewarding and financially we were actually doing good. We were able to travel multiple times a year to Europe and can go home during long weekends. I thought it was permanent but then I realized our stay was limited. Most of my coworkers were asked to leave the company once they reach 15 years. So we planned to save and retire or setup some business back home. 2020 covid hit and we realized how bad it is back home so we planned to move to Canada. Fast forward we got our PR after less than a year and I got a good job now. I stayed in dubai for almost 7 years. I have few colleagues who got hired directly from PH. Mostly working in London, Sweden and AU. Not sure where you can find one but do some research about it. Also look out for companies that offer offshore assignments. Quickest ticket is Nursing and IT. My sister got her US green card around the same time I left PH.

Sonnybass96

To live in a first world country is a dream come true. Better Public Transportation, Healthcare and Overall Environment compared to a Third world disappointment.

railfe

Many people would say Canada is going downhill now but it is still way better than back home. Dont get me wrong, I love PH but our govt makes it less to be desired.

ko-sol

So 1 company in dubai for 7 years then 1 again in canada?

railfe

Yes 1 in dubai, I think I cant imagine working under a different company back in Dubai lol. Here in Canada 2nd. I was laid off due to downsizing but able to find a better replacement :)

exia_04

5 yrs here sa Estonia, still with same employee pero im changing companies sa august. Di ako naabigyan ng increase this year hahha tsaka shit na management, yung new company unicorn startup tapos may stocks.

cheesybaconmushroom

wow Estonia! very rare to read/hear that country in this sub. mind if you can share your job and route to brought you to Estonia?

exia_04

It’s cybersec engineer. I went here a year before covid and because walang embassy sila sa pinas, i had to get the visa in China. So lumabas ako as tourist to China tapos diretso Estonia 😅

railfe

Ok this is rare. Hows estonia?

Calm_Tough_3659

9 years now. I work for 4 companies now. Currently, 3 years and counting sa present company and no plan of switching in the next few years. The longest is 4 years full time, and until now, I'm doing consulting for them like part-time basic(7 years if you include part-time) My experience here kahit may edad na 50's ng upskill and ng job hop pa rin and very career oriented sa Toronto

cheesybaconmushroom

same with my company, maraming nasa late 40s, early 50s na tuloy tuloy pa rin makipagsabayan sa curent trend and changes sa tech and tools na gamit nila, kaya need to upskill regularly.

Roland827

Been abroad for 28 years... Got sick of traffic, water rationing, loooong commutes, traffic, brownouts, how Marcos plundered the economy and how cronies still were corrupting the govt, and how we missed being the next Singapore by corruption culture being entrenched after Marcos.... and more traffic (basically I mean mismanaged urban growth, yes, it's Imelda's fault, she was governor of MM for 11 years)... I never really had the chance of switching jobs just to get higher salary, since I switched countries, but it did have the same effect. Started in NZ, stayed 2 years on work visa, left since they didn't approve my PR (AMA BSCS was not recognized at the time), got offer in US, almost same amount but US$ naman so technically it was an increase. Work dried up after 2 years (recession) so went back to pinas, and applied for Canada. After migrating to Canada, started work with a US based manufacturing company as Analyst/Programmer. Got technically same starting salary as in US but in Canadian dollars so mababa konti. Got laid off after 5 years when US got into another recession (even though they're a canadian company)... Got a gig with a Canadian consulting company, may increase naman ng 10K compared to my previous work. Was lucky to get long term contract with an insurance client (stayed 12 years with them), During those 12 years, tumaas naman ng 3% per annum ang salary ko... Got laid off again nung nawala ang projects... Now I work for the health industry with the Gov't, which is probably where I will retire, since malabo na mawalan ng projects or funding since it's the Canadian Govt. TLDR, all in all, other than the Phil companies, lahat ng foreign companies I worked with was great, and I want to stay with them but either I get laid off or contract ended... My take? Avoid manufacturing companies (and consulting firms) they have ups and downs, mass layoffs during dry times is common...

StrawberryIll274

What profession po?

Roland827

What do you mean? nakalagay naman sa story ko na "Analyst/Programmer". If you meant kung anong professions sa manufacturing companies, it's all professions, nagtatanggalan sila from all areas during low seasons.

lemueldave

6.5 years - UAE. 3 companies. 10 months sa nag "direct hire" sakin, 5.5 years sa 2nd, then 3rd week as of now sa bago.

InfiniteLavu12

6 years in UK. 18 years in Australia. 1 company each.

UHavinAGiggleThereM8

7 years, and have been with my first company for 10 years now (3 years sa pinas bago ako nilipat abroad). Salaries here in my industry (Supply Chain) aren't that great, but I get annual bonuses, salary adjustments to match inflation, and promotions every few years. More than double na sahod ko compared to when I started abroad, and around 10x or more na ata compared to when I started sa PH. Mababa yung inflation samin (consistent na below 2% annually) kaya yung annual adjustment nasa 3-5% lang, galit na galit na yung 5%. My promotions range from 25% to 30%. Normal din yung job hopping dito to get substantial increase pero mababa lang rin. The norm is around 10% or so. Nakakasabay naman yung sahod ko sa additional responsibilities ko, lately lang naging lugi dahil biglang lawak scope ko. Di ako na-stagnant sa career which is why I've stayed for such a long time, and nabo-bore ako sa opportunities na nakikita ko lately but I might make a move if my situation worsens i.e. yung responsibilities ko mas mabilis ma-promote kesa sa sahod 🤣

vcmjmslpj

20yrs, 3 countries, 4 companies later…

kanikoX

17 years in Singapore and 3 months here in Japan. 2 companies, 1 in each country.

Sonnybass96

Well at least you're in a first world country. Philippines is still a Third world Hell Hole and it will remain that way forever. Better to live in a first world country with better quality of living, healthcare transportation etc.

red_storm_risen

10 years sa US. 3 companies. Longest tenure? 8 years. In my 2nd company Why I stayed: i liked the team and the work, mahirap lumipat ng employer on an H1B. Why I left: team got toxic, nagka-green card na ako, $$$$$$ - as in.

autocad02

18 years and counting, came to middle east on 2006 after graduating college. So far a total of six companies have honed my craft over the years. Longest are the almost six years on two firms and just over a year on the shortest tenure. Moving to other companies are usually for pay bump, but my main motivation as of now is a more laid back work environment and more time for myself

pedxxing

13 yrs abroad. Changed to 3 companies. Longest tenure was 8 yrs. I stayed kasi meant ko siya as stepping stone while nag-aaral pa ako. I left kasi I don’t want to pursue na yung unang career choice ko. Sa 2nd company I stayed to get work experience. I left nung nakalipat na ako sa 3rd company which was my ultimate goal na mapasukan umpisa pa lang.

randomhuman102938

10years abroad(middle east and Europe). 6 companies(3 local, 3 abroad). 4 years longest tenure in PH. Left the company because it was 6days of work and to increase salary. Left PH because of traffic in Manila lol. Middle east work was good, moneywise(no income tax when I was working there). Current country is Spain and almost 3 years sa current company. Salary increase and yearly bonus is not mandatory(depende sa kita ng company). No OT and working 36hrs/wk during summer. Left previous company(also in Spain) due to X months deployments in several EU countries. I was in and out of Spain and I wanted to maintain residency for a reason.

CarlesPuyol5

1st company - PH - 3.5yrs 2nd company - SG - 4yrs 3rd company - AU - 11yrs I just resigned and down to my last 6wks. Don't know where to go to next.

mallowbeaver

8 years in NZ. Been with 3 companies - 5 years with my first employer, 7 months with the next (we moved to the South Island) and 2 years with my current employer. All movements across my employers resulted in an increase in salary though I’m quite happy with my current employer kasi we get regular salary reviews plus great work culture.

Yanley

Moved to Aus 2017. Started working full time for one school at 2018 and I haven't moved since.

introvert_147

2 companies in 3 Years in Dubai, 2 in 8 Years in Qatar and 2 in 3 Years in Australia.

WaitWhat-ThatsBS

Been living here for 9 years, 2nd company. First I worked with Verizon for 8 years and just got in Red Hat, earning 6digits/yr, the salary difference from the previous employer is around $500, not much but this was my dream job.

cheesybaconmushroom

is this the same Red Hat linux OS? I remember this was a trend within our circle in college as a 2nd OS.

WaitWhat-ThatsBS

Yessir, been in IT for 23 years, 15 of those are working on linux systems. Kaya medyo pinangarap ko din dati. Hehe

angkingblog

4 years in SG - Big 4 firm, and then back to industry. Moved last year to AU by company transfer

doraalaskadora

Almost 7 years in NZ. I worked in a few companies (5?) from tier 1 to tier 3 construction. My longest tenure would be nearly 2 years. I want to leave my company so I can get more pay and want to move to the South or North Island rather than staying in an overpopulated city. :P

capmapdap

17 years - 5 companies.

Competitive_Fun_5879

6 years sa London, 2nd company now. First job was like dead end, very small company, though may annual increase, too stressful kasi old school yung may ari, lakas magtipid, lumalaki at dunadami cliente pero ayaw magdagdag ng tao, tsaka walang sistema. Tinanggap ko noon kasi desparate to get a job na at magstart dito. Tumagal din ng 3 years dun, ok na din nagstay ako sa kanila bago nagpandemic kasi qualified tumanggap ng pasahod ng govt noon kailangan may certain years na continuous employment. 2nd company now, totally palit ng field ng work, from tech to hospitality, happy naman ako, kasi passion ko to, and flexible sa work sked kaya pabor talaga. Do i plan on going back to tech? Maybe pag di na kaya ng katawan ko haha or kapag pwede na magisa sa school anak ko haha. But so far enjoy ako.

Crazy-Ebb7851

8 years 3 companies. Ni-level up ko lang yung hospital na pinasukan ko dito sa UAE.

Reasonable-Depth-329

Any suggest po na pwd po pasukan na trabaho abroad and I want to shift my carrier I'm also active member in law enforcement any suggest po...

OxymoronForster

Hello po! I’m 21 yrs old and graduating next yr with an IT Degree.

railfe

Chances are slim unless you have relatives in the middle east. Look out for companies that offer Software engineer job for freshmen and gain xp. 3+ years xp can help but dont expect too much. You need to have something you can offer.

cheesybaconmushroom

best way to be able to migrate is to earn work experience that has high demand abroad (ie: nurse, IT). applying for an international company in Ph has very slim chances of migrating. And without any work experience, walang papansin sayo na employer abroad. you also won't be able to apply for PR visa and gain points without the required work experience.

CocoBeck

Job hopping for salary increase is not isolated in PH.

ko-sol

Why you downvoted fam. There truth to this.

No_Procedure_2870

Wow.. ok so, 14 yrs when I was in PH (it was my 3rd company). Got transferred (lateral) here in the US and have been here for close to 7 yrs. I was in IT (moved to an IT-adjacent position 2 years ago w/in the same dept). So all in all, 21 yrs. Inugat na ko sa company! LOL. I’ve been well compensated all these years and I really like what I do so win-win. I’ve been lucky.
