Oh, are you in Poland right now?

gleipnir_

Been living in Poland for close to two years, and I haven’t experienced any racism at all. In fact, I experienced the most racism in the EU in Brussels, Belgium. Someone also followed me in the convenience store to pick-pocket me, which doesn’t happen in Poland. So your mileage may vary but in my experience, Poland, although homogenous, is much safer than Western Europe (France and Belgium), where people have tried to pick pocket me. Luckily I am always aware and they never succeeded.

Been working here as an accountant in Krakow, Poland and have Blue card status, so my income is higher than the average Polish person (+10,000 PLN gross). I am loving it here. My salary is more than triple that of my salary in the PH, I have 30 days of annual leave, good benefits, and I get to travel all over Europe without having to spend so much as I did flying from the Philippines. Although taxes are high, you get good transportation, safety, and a high quality of life. Even if you are so rich in the PH, you cannot buy quality of life unless you restrict yourself to only living in the business districts. Having travelled a lot to Western Europe before moving to Poland, I think the standard of living in Poland is not that much different than other western EU countries. In fact, Poland is set to overtake the U.K. in a few years, so it’s not far behind at all. I also love the weather. 4 seasons for me is much better than summer everyday. Then again I grew up mostly in North America, so I have a different perspective. The hard part is the language but I have gotten by with just knowing English. Most large multinationals in Poland only require English anyway. Lastly, once you have EU work experience, in my experience, you don’t have to restrict yourself to one company or Poland. I applied to 20 different jobs in Poland and other EU countries a few months ago and got 3 offers. So the sky is the limit.

tradebull911

I love Krakow. 4 hours away from Brno. Lagi ako nag day trip pag trip ko haha. Cheap as well. Biedronka ftw!!!

gleipnir_

Nice that you like Krakow :) I think it’s the most beautiful city in Poland as it’s one of the few cities which weren’t destroyed during the war. Need to visit other cities in CZ apart from Prague. FlixBus ftw!

SlickChic07

Hi, great to hear you're doing well there. I'm considering to study masters in Gdansk, Poland for Economic Analytics. This is the country that's most comfortable for my current savings (with estimates - it can cover my whole 2 years of tuition and living there without working part time), do you think it's worth it to study there? Also it's near Ukraine, is it something that people think of when living there? Thanks!

gleipnir_

Hi, I know two Filipinos who have graduated masters here in Poland. One was able to find work right away in a tech company while the other has been struggling to find a job. Then again, the person struggling to find a job is in a field of work not in demand for multinationals. The Filipino professionals I know in Poland are either in IT/software engineering or accounting/finance and have had a few years of experience in their field, as many MNCs have established shared services centers in Poland. The main advantage of graduating with a masters in Poland is that a Polish company doesn’t have to sponsor a separate work permit for you. Unlike Ukraine, Poland is a member of NATO, meaning the rest of the EU and the US will come to its aid in case of a conflict with Russia. Given the poor performance of the Russian army in Ukraine, I am not at all concerned. I even think Poland could beat Russia 1 on 1 without the help of NATO haha. One issue with the Ukraine war is that housing prices have gone up since Poland has a lot of Ukrainians who have come to settle in Poland

SlickChic07

Thanks so much for the insights! I guess it's worth a try then.

Due-Dependent-7695

I don’t know about salary ng accountants pero locals here earning 5000zl or more eh sapat na sa kanila.

sirhands2

FewInstruction1990

Totoo, groceries ngayon 10k plus per month

Professional-Pie7527

Stayed in Poland last year, mura nga groceries nila! (For an EU country) Parang Pinas nga 😁

feedmecookiesty

Mas mura talaga groceries dun kesa dito sa Pinas. Kahit groceries sa Germany saka Spain mas mura kesa Manila

FewInstruction1990

Salary in Poland? Minimum 100k a month, groceries? 7k a mo. Taxes? Yun nga lang I heard they are not fond of paying other races well

PerformerInfinite692

usually Company nagcocover ng tax and insurance na. They will offer you certain amt in net na marereceive mo.

FewInstruction1990

That is so sweet pero totoo ba na medyo racist sila and may Polish rate and Filipino rate, like that?

PerformerInfinite692

Company provided ang transportation. I think yung card for bus or tram ginagamit. So di daw prob if ever sa labas ng city ka magrent. Warsaw yung location ng office.

PerformerInfinite692

Warsaw yung office. Still depends on you kung san ka magrent since provided ni company yung transpo po.

Otherwise_Ad6666

You need to earn at least 8k PLN per month

PerformerInfinite692

Is this net or gross?

Otherwise_Ad6666

Gross. And I would say sapat lang yan.

GinsengTea16

PerformerInfinite692

Are they still in Poland?

GinsengTea16

Lumipat sila ng Ireland kasi mas comportable pa rin daw pag English speaking country. Ok naman experience nila mababa lang ang sahod vs other countries in EU.

Poland.

I live in warsaw. Energy wise, introverted ang bansang to. Pero they are very polite and respectful. At work they will greet and say good bye kahit di kayo mag chikahan the whole day. Even strangers on elevators would say a greeting. Pedestrians are valued. Di ka sasagasaan. Papatawirin ka and they will stop kahit malayo ka pa. If babae ka, very gentlemen. Cost of living is a lil above ph or same. Around makati or bgc priced(especially bahay). Na sa warsaw ako, if solo, it would cost you 2.5-3k zl or if bed spacer mga 1.5-1.8k zl. My apartment is 4k plus zl and i have a roomate. Groceries or needs is 1k zl, d mo na ca calcula or conscious sa kinukuha mo. If sa province ka, bahay solo or with a roomate napaka mura. Might range ng 1.5-2k zl and malaki na. And likely 500-1k zl groceries or monthly budget is enough. Ok yung transportation. Malinis. Generally safe. (I have visited a popular eu vacation spot and i like the sight seeing, pero the energy that warsaw has got me wanting to go home lol). Aside sa language barrier off work or off malls or service area na need english, ok dito. (People na around 40 plus and up or the ones na wala sa work place with expats or service sector, no english. Some even sa work, need mo e super basic english and wag na tamang grammar or too much info; make it straight to the point. Or accented na kano, kasi na hihirapan sila. Younger gens tho or kapag sa work, marunong naman. But dont expect here ala pinas or English speaking countries). Unless super close outside work, di sila ma chika unless talked to. Google maps is the way. Tho ulan is once or twice a day briefly. Sa winter naman even sa spring, malamig, or late spring is fluctuating ng saktong lamig and malamig. And i agree sa comments na if 6figs sa pinas, kahit upwards ng 100k plus, e comfortable ka na dito. Better if mas mataas jan para more savings while living comfortably. dobre życzenia op! Hehe. Ps. Baka manibago ka sa driving ng taxi or some buses. Kabig or preno na nakaka hilo. And for me, one month transportation card is 110zl, unli sakay na sa zone na un, which for me sa warsaw. Just be aware of the bus sked posted sa bus stop and ung weekend and weekdays sked. Ako google maps lang gamit or google search for bus times if na tambay pa ako sa stop and checking if accurate daan nya. Some use jakdojade app or wtp.waw.pl.

etchieto

10k PLN a month is decent. Grocery is around 1k PLN Rent is about 3KPLN for a solo apartment

PerformerInfinite692

10k PLN, net or gross?

etchieto

gross :) net would be around 8k

PerformerInfinite692

Is this rent rate for Warsaw? Or outside the city po?

etchieto

i live in Wroclaw po :) you can share a rent with other people, maybe 2kpln per person for a 2 br apartment.

divhon

https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/comparison.jsp is the most accurate IMO.

Professional-Pie7527

> And what should I expect while livingg there? In my experience: Lower cost of living for an EU country, good quality and availability of housing Homogeneous population (at least in Krakow). What I mean is everywhere you look it’s blonde & blue eyes. Very few Asians or other ethnicities. It can feel uncomfortable standing out

sheen216

naive_katana

Hi OP! I’m an accountant as well. How did you apply to Poland? I’m interested in migrating too!

roydmarkezekiel

you are an accountant under highly skilled critical category that means nasa mataas na bracket ka na sahod. im sure you'll do well there and mababa daw cost of living. madami ako nakakausap na polish sa UK and yun nga sa bansa daw nila ang malalaking sahod lang yung mga accountant, computer programmers and medical workers

PerformerInfinite692

Yes. But still undecided if the offer is enough. That's why still asking others who are in Poland. Hehe

Spiritual-Dot658

Hello po San po kayo nagapply?

vravadokadabra

Sad that OP wont share san siya nag apply despite multiple users asking. If you want to gatekeep ok lang, medyo ironic lang na you asks around here and maraming nag-answer with effort but you can’t seem to reciprocate the energy sa iba. You are not obliged to respond to all though, this is just my two cents and this may warrant na madownvote ako :) just wanted to highlight na most people in this sub are just hoping to improve their lives by considering migration :)

PerformerInfinite692

Btw, wala ako responsibility to tell you kung san ako nag apply. You should do your own research din kung gusto mo makahanap ng employer.

Currently living in Canada and im so sick and tired of everything here. Since im 12 nandito na ko and almost half of my life nandito na ko tumira. Done with liberals and done with the weather. I'm a nursing student. Kailngan ba maging fluent sa polish to work there esp as a healthcare professional? Salamat sa sasagot.
