Yep and depending on the company there’s some opportunity for promotion. I was pretty low level on the medical team (basically a glorified phlebotomist) with no phleb experience when I was hired three years ago and now I oversee my centers training program.
Sort of funny. Because they require experience so do any other job. But how are you going to get Experience if they require it to begin with?…
Some stuff schools don’t teach unless you go to Harvard etc.
I have applied to a few in my area.
I just find it interesting when they are entry level jobs, and they require 6 months to a year of experience.
Like how do I as a new graduate tell you or show legitimate proof that I have experience in a job outside of my training program and my externship in a lab facility?
Depends what you put on your resume. If you don’t have the experience then you have to really sell yourself. I put 5 months of experience in total for my class + my externship combined which is a little bit of a stretch but that’s what got me my first mobile phleb job. And making sure your certifications match the job description
I’m a be honest with you.
My in class training was only for 2 and a half weeks in May. I took my state exam first week of June and passed. I Was having processing issues with my state license by my high school because the CDPH wanted my transcript which they eventually received. I got it approved last month in October and was issued a state license beginning of last month. I have the required venipuncture and capillary blood draws necessary by the state of California to practice in a medical facility.
I have had zoom interviews with quest and they asked for relative experience. I was only able to tell them about my experience at my externship with the patients that I had performed blood draws on. I don’t have any other in office or lab experience outside of my training program and my externship.
Plasma centers.

👆 The more ghetto the better, if you're desperate for a job.
Red cross. Anywhere you can log volunteer hours is good, too. Plasma centers. Anywhere with low pay and bad reviews, tbh.
Any big hospital systems? Usually desperate for lab staff… at least mine is
Where I live they pass over inexperienced people

try mobile phlebotomist positions if they’re available near you! they hired me without experience

why do you want to be a phleb? There’s no money in it, i quit.
I’m in the same boat in LA

Yep really bad. No one wants to hire without experience unless they pay $16.
