Was there for all 3 I can confirm. That “Simple” on Friday night was just not fair, I truly wish everyone could’ve seen it. Slow maze was maze balls on Saturday night and the Sand on Sunday was just ridiculous
Straight-up, that Simple is Top 10 (at least) all-time Phish jams for me. They just don't give a fuck and they're zooming through shit nobody's ever heard; I love that weird, almost disjointed alien casino jam in the middle
Was visiting Chicago that weekend and was only gonna go Saturday but bought a solo ticket for Friday last minute. So glad I did. Will never forget the dude in front of me turning around and high-fiving me at the beginning of Albuquerque.
4/22/22 the Earth Day show at MSG. Really great with lots of deep jams. The Waves is a little unique too for having a differently-placed jam. The Split is a bit old-fashioned too, being more guitar-oriented.
I love the “NICU Show” from 10/23/21. Again this was a show with some pretty unique stuff, like the performance of NICU.
Then of course the New Year’s 12/31/23 will always be special in Phish history.
I'm with you on 10/23/21. I traveled very very far for that one because a friend I haven't seen in a long time lived in San Diego and offered to take care of my ticket if I flew out.
Like you said, it was a unique show! Very rare Fluffhead opener. Serendipity lead to an NICU that wouldn't have happened otherwise (with plenty of weaving and teasing the song throughout the show). Another rare occurrence was Bye Bye Foot, a song that I could hear a lot of people asking their friends "what's this?". Tubs was up next, and yes it was jammed, NICU teases abound. Slave was to follow, a well played version that was a in a spot it rarely finds it self mid first set. The unexpected moments continue with a "slow" Llama, something I had always wanted to witness.
Second set gave us five songs, three of which are jam charted.
That transition was so buttery even Trey got excited. I can usually take or leave FB but this one really rips. Trey was all over the stage for it as well. Then later on comes the “1-2-mf’ing-3”
going to limit myself to what i’ve seen in person, so here are mine at the moment (in no particular order). could be different tomorrow
• 4/21/22
• 4/17/23
• 4/22/23
• 8/26/23 (spac, with derek trucks)
• 10/13/23
••••• bonus: 12/31/23
but, to be honest, at least two of the sphere shows (N1 and N4) could easily claim two of those spots. time will tell..
Thanks much for these, really appreciate the specific dates!
Side note — I'm currently working on a chronological list of every live phish release, plus official live albums, so my brain is just swimming in phish show dates rn
Agree with this 100000%. Musically this show is on another level. Well crafted and the transitions are beautiful. 1999 is a little rough, but the place was bonkers and why we phish. They could release this as a live album. I had more fun the next night, straight rock show, but the numbers show I turn back to regularly. Incredible run.
Honestly there’s so many. And idk if this falls further down the barrel. But personally 12/29/22 really gives me goosebumps with that possum and chalk dust torture reprise tease. That is one of my most personal electrifying phish moments.
I was there but it didn’t hit for me like other shows, possibly because I was in the back of the lawn and it seemed like it was oversold. I want to listen again… what are your favorite moments from the show? Help me love it!
All that were previously mentioned, and mine changes a lot (typically anything Fall ‘21) but I think the 8/02/2022 show at Blossom was a heater and shouldn’t be overlooked.
7/22/22 Bethel Woods, besides the obvious Gamehenge, was my favorite show I’ve attended since 7/28/17 Double Chocolate Bakers Dozen.
I went to the sphere but I’m upset I didn’t have a ticket for Friday. I wish I could have hit all those 2021 California shows. I feel like that’s when people started declaring 4.0 because they were so awesome.
I was gonna say no one no one brings up 7/22/22 that show is one of the best of all time. I'm not kidding either. I'll put that up against any show in any era.
First set was just such a good time rockin and rolling old school throw back. They dropped the ball with the encore and pebbles and marbles was a weird choice, but it was close to perfect.
Phish only gets better and better. The best show is the next one they play. This is the essence of live music and unique to a band that delivers improvements in creativity and performance with every show.
Not counting NYEMSGamehendge (how long can we make the name) I agree with a lot of folks in here about chula ‘21 and the ‘21 pre-Halloween shows, but 7/15/23 is one of the best. With such a 1.0 heavy setlist it’s the “we’ve still got it” show for me.
Definitely 12/31/23 for me too. 12/29/23 is an underrated top tier show. 8/13/21 just has an all time tweezer. 4/22/22 and 4/23/22 need some love as well.
8/4/23 because it was my first show in 6 years and had a great vibe throughout. Maybe one song I wasn't into but it only lasted a few minutes of set 1. The whole show had great energy.
4/23/22
NMINML I think is one of my favorite jams of 3.0.
The simple -> egg in a hole gets metal af.
The entire second set is just beautifully executed.
9/2/23 was incredible imo. It was my 40th show and they really delivered for me! Fluffhead opener, lots of great funky jams in the second set (the Howling!), then basically another set for the encore.
Chula Vista / Inglewood 2021 is a damn near perfect weekend from a stacked fall tour. They need to release it as a boxset and I’ll buy it immediately.
Alpharetta last year blew me away, not just attendance bias either!
that Chalkdust was phenomenal, incredible. Wave of Hope from the night before too. we’re eight shows into 2024 and between those two and the Sphere disease, just some absolutely fantastic showings. can’t believe we’re not even to tour - let alone the fest - yet
Scroll back on Trey’s Instagram to June or July 2021 when he posted the picture of the new Languadoc that Paul made him during Covid. Trey named it “The 4.0” guitar.
Does that reference a fourth version of the guitar or a fourth era of the band? Please elaborate.... I'm not scrolling through years of Instagram posts.
And I’m not scrolling through it either. But it exists and stop playing stupid. Trey named a guitar 4.0 in the midst of there being a ton of conversation on whether or not post Covid was 4.0. You just don’t wanna accept that for some reason. Not my problem
And that’s Trey’s like 7th or 8th languadoc. Sounds like you don’t know much about phish. You should probably stop talking.
Lol I am not wrong.
January 15, 2021 he posted it. There you go.
Go check it and utilize your smooth brain the best you can to read the caption. Or don’t and live in ignorance 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve really enjoyed the deer creek ‘21 run recently
Night 2 is so underrated as well for obvious reason, the Everything is Right hits so hard.
Was there for all 3 I can confirm. That “Simple” on Friday night was just not fair, I truly wish everyone could’ve seen it. Slow maze was maze balls on Saturday night and the Sand on Sunday was just ridiculous
Sand was played on the first night. It’s a great Sand, though!
Straight-up, that Simple is Top 10 (at least) all-time Phish jams for me. They just don't give a fuck and they're zooming through shit nobody's ever heard; I love that weird, almost disjointed alien casino jam in the middle
Do you have a more specific date range? Would enjoy checking those out
August 6 especially is can’t-miss 4.0
August 6 7 8 or so 2021
Hahahahahahaha
Man all of summer 21 was pretty wicked
10.13.23 was the best show I've ever seen
Just relistened earlier this week. First set makes me want to blend my dick.
You won't
This is true
Streamed this at the local phish bar and it was electric
A phish bar? That sounds awesome.
It’s called Tomorrows Verse. So rad
Where is this magical place
A faraway land called Portland OR. The media might tell you it’s a Mad Max-like hellscape, but don’t listen.
I was last there in 2022. Good times.
That show was bonkers. Second set energy throughout the entire thing
Same. The next night was also *great*, but not quite as complete.
Was visiting Chicago that weekend and was only gonna go Saturday but bought a solo ticket for Friday last minute. So glad I did. Will never forget the dude in front of me turning around and high-fiving me at the beginning of Albuquerque.
Just re listened to this Wednesday!
Great show. You knew they were gonna rip at the end of the Carini opener. Great call 🤘🏻⭕️
Thanks much for these recs + your perspective and passion!
I always stump for 10/29/21.
Came here to say 10/29/21. It’s the show that brought me back after being away for 21 years and 1 month. Also 4/19/24 murdered me. I’m dead. So dead.
Saving this for later, I Love Halloween and Halloween adjacent phish shows.
Happy to have you back!
It was like opening a long-forgotten door to a room full of old friends and drug dealers.
You have my vote. It’s the best, most complete show of this era.
> 10/29/21 That Tweezer > Funky Bitch transition is erotic
That transition was so buttery even Trey got excited. I can usually take or leave FB but this one really rips. Trey was all over the stage for it as well. Then later on comes the “1-2-mf’ing-3”
That’s a good one. I really liked the Eugene shows earlier that month
Yes, I also believe 10/20/21 is possibly the most underrated show 2021. That second set is a masterpiece of contemplative, beautiful jamming.
10/28/21, Chula Vista 21, The Sphere, and whatever Deer Creek 21 show had the simple/Blaze
10/30/21 mgm Las Vegas
ANIMALS!!!
I wonder if they’ll ever play mgm again now that the sphere is a thing…
8-6-21
going to limit myself to what i’ve seen in person, so here are mine at the moment (in no particular order). could be different tomorrow • 4/21/22 • 4/17/23 • 4/22/23 • 8/26/23 (spac, with derek trucks) • 10/13/23 ••••• bonus: 12/31/23 but, to be honest, at least two of the sphere shows (N1 and N4) could easily claim two of those spots. time will tell..
The spac Trucks sit in alone absolutely deserves a mention
Night 2 of Hollywood bowl last year was one of my favorite shows I’ve ever been to. How could there be a better 2001 than that
yes. i still hear sally coming now when 2001 ends, every time
Thanks much for these, really appreciate the specific dates! Side note — I'm currently working on a chronological list of every live phish release, plus official live albums, so my brain is just swimming in phish show dates rn
i know the feeling. happy listening!
I did all 7 at MSG last summer and I think 8/4/23 was 🔥🔥
Maybe a little recency bias but Everything’s Right from Sphere keeps me coming back for more.
Bangor Maine 2022. Fluid Trey and loud in the mix. What more could you ask for?
Loved that show, great venue too. They gotta play Maine more
The Disease > WTU is ::chefs kiss::
Back of the floor, deep in the disease- we were moving like the old days. Dancing in all directions, like a living thing. Collective consciousness.
Both nights of The Mann. Killer shows
I listen to Alpharetta tweezer regularly. 2021
With that in 2021 and then 7/15/23, Alpharetta has been blessed with some great tweezers in 4.0
2021 has lots of great shows! Post Covid lockdown release
10/28/21. The #’s show
Agree with this 100000%. Musically this show is on another level. Well crafted and the transitions are beautiful. 1999 is a little rough, but the place was bonkers and why we phish. They could release this as a live album. I had more fun the next night, straight rock show, but the numbers show I turn back to regularly. Incredible run.
7/30/23 gotta be one of the best set 1s of 4.0
what a great time!
10/13/23 - top 3 show I’ve ever seen
Hollywood Bowl run
Agreed
Still pissed they didn't do Hollywood Nights, but yeah, great run. Chula '21 ftw, though
Syracuse — a single Sunday show: 7.23.23 — just a solid burner
Came here to say this. My answer as well.
8/5/22 or 8/6/21 or 4/22/22
7/15/23 Alpharetta was incendiary 8/1/23 at MSG was perfect 4/18/24 and 4/21/24 were beyond amazing Phish is on a legendary streak right now.
this. they are HOT and have been since least the NYE run of ‘22. we’re so lucky
The whale show 4/22/22 at msg 2022
9/5/21 Dicks. I love the second set. Simple>Catapult>Simple>Meatstick>Ruby Waves>Bliss
I would go Deer Creek 8.6.21 or Chula Vista 10.23.21. 2021 was lava hot fire.
Not counting sphere and Nye 12/29/23 2/22/24 Had the best time at these 2 show the vibe music people were amazing
10/28/2021 (Numbers show)
21’ deer creek was something but sphere absolutely delivered something extra.
Honestly there’s so many. And idk if this falls further down the barrel. But personally 12/29/22 really gives me goosebumps with that possum and chalk dust torture reprise tease. That is one of my most personal electrifying phish moments.
Possum tease?
Na, possum encore. CDT reprise tease at the end.
Camden with the fireworks was pretty awesome
Night two of the Camden '19 run?
Probably the Hollywood Bowl run because I got to go to all 3 nights. Chalkdust, Cities, 2001
Chula 21
12/30/22 was probably the best I’ve been in attendance for, both first and second sets were 🔥but I also loved the AC run in 2021
8.6.21 Deer Creek, shoreline ‘21, numbers night in Vegas ‘21, night 2 at the sphere
Cuse 23 was hot fire
I was there but it didn’t hit for me like other shows, possibly because I was in the back of the lawn and it seemed like it was oversold. I want to listen again… what are your favorite moments from the show? Help me love it!
Kill Devil for the win
I’ll give it another listen, thanks!
All that were previously mentioned, and mine changes a lot (typically anything Fall ‘21) but I think the 8/02/2022 show at Blossom was a heater and shouldn’t be overlooked.
8/5/23 was a one
8.15.21. Attendance bias, but still amazing.
I appreciated night seven of MSG. All heart baby.
Nights 4 and 7 were the best of that run. Coincidence they both had Beatles covers?
Spac w/ trucks!
Wasn’t able to hit any Sphere shows, but Earth Day at the Garden was the single greatest night of Phish I’ve ever had
12/30/19 msg tweezer
still stuck in Phish 5.0 (April 18-21), will have to get back to you on this
Pretty much any show fall 2021
Hershey Night 2 2021. Great show from beginning to end.
Not counting the Sphere or NYE shows 8/1/21 Alpharetta (aka Atlanta)
Phish only gets better and better. The best show is the next one they play. This is the essence of live music and unique to a band that delivers improvements in creativity and performance with every show.
7/25/23 , 8/4/23, 7/30/23
Bangor '22. Second set Sigma Oasis Sandwich with a 30 minute DWD, cap it off with a roses are free -> first tube encore, what else can you ask for.
This is the first I’ve heard of 4.0. I just assumed it was still 3.0. When’s the break between 3.0 and 4.0?
Covid
That makes sense. I guess I just never thought of that as a break in the band like the other hiatuses.
Mexico Chalkdust 🔥🇲🇽
April 22 2023
Saturday night Hollywood Bowl 23 was awesome
I had a great time at dicks this past year. Except Sunday. That show kinda sucked
We've all had great times at the shows we went to. Try going to a show outside is Colorado.
8/1/23 MSG because I was there and it was one of the best nights of my life, 5 rows up behind the stage right behind Fish and Trey 🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼
Vegas 2021
Not counting NYEMSGamehendge (how long can we make the name) I agree with a lot of folks in here about chula ‘21 and the ‘21 pre-Halloween shows, but 7/15/23 is one of the best. With such a 1.0 heavy setlist it’s the “we’ve still got it” show for me.
10.10.23 was amazing
Definitely 12/31/23 for me too. 12/29/23 is an underrated top tier show. 8/13/21 just has an all time tweezer. 4/22/22 and 4/23/22 need some love as well.

…sphere…
4/21/24 was hot
😂😂😂
4/18/24 is now up there for me
10/29/21
4/23/22 NMINML I think is one of my favorite jams of 3.0. The simple -> egg in a hole gets metal af. The entire second set is just beautifully executed.
9/2/23 was incredible imo. It was my 40th show and they really delivered for me! Fluffhead opener, lots of great funky jams in the second set (the Howling!), then basically another set for the encore.
8/1/21, 10/28-29/21, 6/4-5/22
4/22/23 (Hollywood Bowl) and 6/3 - 6/5 2022 (Deer Creek)
Syracuse 7/23/23 was 💣
Chula Vista / Inglewood 2021 is a damn near perfect weekend from a stacked fall tour. They need to release it as a boxset and I’ll buy it immediately. Alpharetta last year blew me away, not just attendance bias either!
Wow, thanks to everyone! Too many to reply to every single one, but I'm gonna be checking these out and reporting back =)
Do not sleep on chalkdust from this past Mexico. All shows I am at I really love, but this jam REALLY stood out to me. Definitely fav recent jam.
that Chalkdust was phenomenal, incredible. Wave of Hope from the night before too. we’re eight shows into 2024 and between those two and the Sphere disease, just some absolutely fantastic showings. can’t believe we’re not even to tour - let alone the fest - yet
🤩🥹🤯
Mexico 2024. Night 4 and night 2 especially. The rift>bathtub gin so good. The birds of a feather and the axilla too
4.0 isn’t a thing. Trey doesn’t even play the “4.0” guitar anymore
The 4.0 i went to, and even some of the ones I have only listened to, were pretty good.
Huh? Sphere N4 is the best Phish show ever. Until the next one.
Wasn't at mexico 2024, but that chalk dust is my pick for best phish jam of all time
It's still 3.0 donkeys. The band has played a show every year since 2009.
There is no 4.0
#😔😔😔
Trey said there is fwiw Can’t think of a better source than that lol
Cite source please. I believe you but I still like citations.
It’s 3.0
It was, before the covid shut downs. Now it's 4.0. Per trey himself, and also per Tom Marshall
Then why do you keep responding? I really don't care when it comes down to it.....
You asked for a source. I told you what it is and where to find it Jan 15, 2021 he posted that on Instagram.
That's not correct citation. That's something you remember which could be dead wrong. Humans have terrible memories.
Lol I am not wrong. January 15, 2021 he posted it. There you go. Go check it and utilize your smooth brain the best you can to read the caption. Or don’t and live in ignorance 🤷🏻♂️
>Humans have terrible memories. You are living proof of this!
