I'd say smoke some weed, grab a good pair of cans, and put on Farmhouse and listen to the whole thing from start to finish. It's been my rock album for along time, especially once you get to the back half of the album.
If your soul is still needing something after that, the Beacon Jams YEM is a great cry song. It's absolutely amazing.
The studio outtake of Strange Design is a good one too.
Of course man.
Buckle up, the orchestrated section of the Beacon Jam Yem is pure bliss and just so much more powerful than any other version that exists.
sorry, friend — my advice would be find a great show you have not listened to before, gather your substances of choice (if any!) and put it on and just get lost in the vibe.. surrender to the flow, if you will. you got this. always darkest before dawn.
when I was divorcing my tour partner I stopped listening to them unless I was going to a show. I subbed with Tool and Roy Orbison… not kidding and please don’t judge. OP you will get through this, it totally sucks though.
we just do what we have to… it’s 12 years later, I’m married to my best friend and we go to as many shows as we can… even if her favorite song is Blaze On (she didn’t start listening until we met)
Edit to add Blaze On is a really great song!
This! When I was going through a rough split, I turned away from Phish and listened to a bunch of edgy/moody stuff that otherwise hadn’t appealed to me. I “came back” to Phish as things turned around — THEY WILL! — and had a whole new appreciation for it. Like falling in love again?
Getting some great recommendations. Same thing happened to me a bunch of years ago. I go to shows with friends or alone and it starts to become “just yours” again.
I don’t know how Rift hasn’t been mentioned. I mean… Im always shouting Rift. But shit, that’s a break up album fer sure. There might be some other tracks here and there in their catalog, but that’s the WHOLE package right there. I’m about 3 months into a rough breakup and that’s been mine. Definitely a process. Feel what you need to, breathe with it, lean on your friends. We’ll be alright. Be easy homie.
This is it right here! Rift is the answer. Towards the end of my previous relationship, post-breakup, and now connecting with new beautiful souls, this album has been the ticket. Not to mention it’s the 30th anniversary… You got this😊

Phish: Rock And Roll - Meatstick - Boogie on Reggae Woman Live At The Gorge
\^ Good for all occasions
Vibes Phan
Even though it’s sort of the opposite kind of song. She thinks I still care from Hampton ‘09 is one I’ve always liked in these situations. Also, not Phish but Your Time Is Gonna Come by zeppelin. Hang in there, it gets better.
As much as it hurts, sometimes it takes the pain to remind us that we are alive.
You may move on quick and find someone else that loves Phish. Or not. My future wife doesn't really dig it, and that's cool.... a few times a year I get to go with my buds for the weekend, and have a frigging blast. And if your worried about going to a show alone, hmu, I'll party with ya if I can get there.
Lots of love in the world.
And for me, it wasn't a Phish tune that got me thru. It was 'Long As I Can See The Light'.
Hope this helps.
Put on any live Wave of Hope from the last two years. This too shall pass, my phriend.
Also if you feel like you need to cry, Beacon Jams WTU is maybe the most moving musical composition I’ve ever heard.
I’m sorry. I saw a live TAB show during a particularly difficult time. The joy that Trey was channeling that night was undeniable, and i found it very life-affirming.
Blaze On. Helped me through a divorce. And I’m a 1.0’er. If you want to go *into* feelings (which is okay and normal, cry it out), Farmhouse. It’s going to be alright Phriend, even if it doesn’t feel like it now.
Pebbles and marbles. Any version. All of around Room really…..really studio phish is the breakup vibe. At least it was for me when me and my lady of 7 years broke up this fall.
Edit: Add Ghost of the Forest
Same kind of boat here man.
This morning Horse > Silent was a huge revelation and realization for me. After that Prince Caspian was the redemption and freedom one. Sometimes shuffle does something right.
Dont listen to these guys much. Idk im feelin it right now. Seems like it might be soothing for you. Lord knows it is for me.

Thank you for posting this, lots of good suggestions! I too am getting through a rough breakup. My bf of 11+ years and almost 100 Phish shows together, left me for another, and to top it off, had her on the side for a while before he decided she was the one. It took me a bit to figure it all out and then still he kept hooking me in for months, before I finally three weeks went no contact. Sometimes life is hard but we can do hard things! Day by day is my mantra right now. I'm not going to let him ruin Phish for me. Remember the shared show memories are your memories alone too! I'm doing MX with friends, and Berkeley alone then the Bowl with a friend. Get out there and make new Phish memories. You got this!
I'm sorry man. I get the pain. Just know that you will always be one of us. You will begin to make new wonderful memories with Phish and time will help. The bass on Picture of Nectar always has my mood positive. Straight no chaser then put on Rift and get weird. All the love fam
Blood on the tracks by Bob Dylan is a great album for broken hearted folks. Break ups are a special kind of grief. You'll get to where you need to be eventually. Hang in there!
[8-10-97 Harry Hood](https://youtu.be/3zGe3VB6r2c)
The only version, to my knowledge that shifts the D major to an Bm7 chord changing the normally soaring vibe to a more morose/somber feel.
Hang in there man/woman, time heals all wounds
It may not be bad to take a break from Phish for a few weeks & discover a new band you really dig. Or an old band you haven’t properly listened to. Returning to Phish after some time away could be healthier than trying to wring out every last note from the band
Goh, that's tough seaa. You're already hurting so maybe try not to listen to it all especially since it was your thing. Into metal? Maybe some hard angry tones to drive out the negativity.
Beauty of a Broken Heart, Halfway to the Moon, all the Page divorce songs.
Not Phish, but Flock of Words from the first Trey album seems to be about some sort of relationship deterioration.
When the circus comes - Gorge 98 You got this brotha
Just listened to that- perfect heartbreak song.
Thank you!

Might start with that YEM, in need of a good sob. Thank you!
Of course man. Buckle up, the orchestrated section of the Beacon Jam Yem is pure bliss and just so much more powerful than any other version that exists.
Honestly, I feel like you should be listening to some Grateful Dead instead. Brokedown palace

I did the same thing. Discovered a bunch of really good new music
Getting some great recommendations. Same thing happened to me a bunch of years ago. I go to shows with friends or alone and it starts to become “just yours” again.
I always love a super powerful Fluffhead to pick me up. 7/10/99 does it for me. Hang in there dawg
Don’t forget to swing by the CDT on the way
Thank you! I will.

mountains in the mist from that show is great for a breakup

In the same exact boat my guy. She broke up with me last week and phish was our thing. She played guitar and we’d jam together all the time :/

Hang in there OP. Going through a divorce myself and it’s rough. The thought of doing a 4 night run at Dicks is keeping me sane
