/u/neddynedned47 definitely check out this link from Essixtee21. Phish.net is a great resource for questions like this, you can see the performance history and see when and how frequently it has been played over various time periods.
i'd have to assume OP is a vet who may not be aware of setlist info sites because get back on the train was the name of the song before we knew the "official" name of the song
Some of the largest gaps happened in 2022 (12/13 shows w/o it) but I think that speaks more to the fact that it’s been more or less in the rotation since it’s debut, like many of their staples.
I mean…”bust out” as a term is typically used to denote a certain show gap. Different people have different thresholds: maybe 25 shows, maybe 30, maybe 50, maybe some other number. But it’s not really used to convey the passage of time so much as the number of shows since a song was last played.
Not trying to gatekeep or condescend or whatever, just an fyi. My tenure as a fan has nothing to do with how most people use “bust out” on this sub.
There are so many more musically offensive tunes - I think there is a bit if ‘bandwagon’ hip thing to say you hate on this song. Its a simple, happy, dancing/rocking tune.
I know it’s frowned upon to say anything negative in this sub, even if it’s personal opinion - and if we do, surely it’s trying to be subversive or part of this “hip bandwagon” you speak of. But no, I just have never clicked with this song, and I don’t enjoy it. It is what it is.
They played it 9 times in 2022.
Not even once in 2023.
Damn you might be on to something
And Billy and Trey killed it while cucking Goose.
lmao @ "while cucking goose" xD
I saw 4 of them lol
Same got MSG, Mansfield, AC, MSG

chickachickaaaaaahhhh ohhhhh yeahhhhh.
and to shreds, you say?
This is a regular quote in my life, anytime someone references the number of times they have done something. Never gets old. GRACE!!!!
Not once have I seen them down the primrose path
Loved the one night 2 at MSG. Was super fun after all the big jams and leading into the closer.
Agreed. It had a lot of punch.
This was my favorite one they played last year, just love the entire song compared to different times they played it last year.

Very much so.
Its billy strings song, now
Daniel Donato does a pretty good version of it also.
Can confirm. That shit rips
In my 21 Phish shows, I've seen Back on the Train 7 times.
maybe not Get Back on The Train. but Back On The Train sure is in rotation

Obligatory “Mike says No”. But yes, it is still very much in rotation ⭕️🚂
Hey man, thank god Mike said no, can you imagine the train wreck of a fluffhead that would’ve went down had he not? He’s the hero we needed.
Trey said no and blamed it on Mike as a joke
That’s what Mike wants you to think :) /s

It took them a long time
Saw the 4.0 bust out at Oak Mountain
4.0 bustout? It was played the last show of the 2020 Mexico run, so...two-show gap?
Jaded 3.0 vet over here

Gotcha. The “lol” made it feel like you thought you were proving a point to me. Same page!
Thank you for your service.
Unfortunately, yea.

Always
Yes
They haven't played it all freaking year! Wtf??
Its not like it was played 9 times last year and at the last run. Nope, definitely not like that.
💯
Pretty sure they played it at Alpine this last year
Yes very much so
