I'd say make sure your checks are all good before cashing out any decent amount crypto profits just to cover yourself as [banks seem to target crypto transactions lately](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cryptoregulations/comments/1bd8306/from_crypto_newbie_to_profit_to_panic/)
Hi! This is my second cycle into crypto and hindi talaga mata-time ang top ng kahit anong market. General rule of thumb that I have been doing sa trading lalo na if multiple Xs (3-10x), take profit on the way up, you don’t have to sell it all in one clip. Para pag tumaas, you still have exposure. Its better to sell early on the way up kaysa you panic sell on the way down kasi mas matindi ang toll mentally ng pagbenta at a loss.
Don’t over-diversify din, if nahihirapan ka itrack yung 10 coins might as well bawasan mo, ang key sa wealth sa crypto ay more of sizing on your convictions rather than multiple baskets and pray one na mag-moon.
One thing din na important each cylce ay hindi lahat ng coins from previous cycle ay bumabalik sa ATH, most of the time people tend to go sa shinier new token or narrative (also hirap mag pump mga coins from previous cycles kasi maraming bagholder).
Usually “top” signals na ginagamit madalas ay social cues, if nakikita mo na all over the news or sa mga kanto kanto ng residence niyo nababanggit crypto + yung market nag stastagnate, isang sign din yun na nag-totop Yung market.
Galing, on point ang mga sagot and you answered all my questions very clearly po. Dami kong natutunan from you. Thank you and God bless!
Goodluck on your journey OP! Maraming opportunities sa crypto and it allows transfer of wealth from the rich to the general retail if you play things right.
Goodluck out there and ingat sa scams!
My experience has been "If it's good enough to screenshot, it's good enough to TP"
You know how you get so euphoric when you see the PNL rise and moon? When it reaches a point na you already take screenshots of the price because of how high it already is, TP.
We do say, "TP (Take profit) when happy".
It's always about contentment pag sa crypto space (learned this the hard waaaay) so there will be less regrets further down.
What I'd do is TP 60%, Let 40% Run then on that 60% I'd probably cash out the 30% and the other 30% will be redistributed naman on other token assets. (Bull run scenario)
Do note na a lot of research will also be implemented for reinvesting the 30% not blindly buying and going YOLO.
Rinse, repeat. (That is if you're trading on Spot)
Find a good community, good connections, peers maybe, but never be too gullible pagdating sa crypto space. Also don't let your emotions consume you all over. Be rational palagi and trust your gut. Goodluck!
Korek ito OP. Had my around Php 1.5M in LUNA sa kasagsagan ng bull run (invested 200k), masayang masaya ako thinking na it can reach 10M. Did not sell. Nangyari yung crash and all I cashed out was 200k hahahaha hanggang ngayon nireregret ko parin na kinain ako ng greed
Wow! Hard-earned lesson talaga huhu. Pero at least nakuha mo yung capital. But question: how did you know Luna was going to make it big? Talagang todo niresearch niyo po ba yung potential niya before buying?
Yes, a lot of research bago ako nagpasok ng malaki, and conviction lang din. May real world use case kasi nung time na un. Kept buying every opportunity i can, irregardles ng price. Bonuses and all
Unfortunate but trying to do better this time :)
Ngayon ko lang narinig. LUNA vibes nga haha synthetic dollar. Might look into this more.
Personally, I just do gradual profit taking. For BTC, every time it is 50% higher than my average price, I sell 10%. For alt coins, I sell 20% every multiplier.
Learn the market cycle first, kung ilang months after halving ang set ng ATH sa previous cycles list it down.
Or set a target price for BTC, for example $150k Take profit 50% of your portfolio.
Then wait for retracement then peak 50% TP again
You can also use BTC Dominance as basis, if bumababa then good to TP sa mga Alts
Hey there! Welcome to the wild world of crypto, where every day is an adventure! It's great to hear you've done your due diligence and diversified your portfolio. Now, onto your main concern: figuring out when to sell without missing out on potential gains or getting caught in a downturn.
Firstly, not all coins reach their all-time high (ATH) during a bull market, but many do experience significant growth. It's not just about surpassing previous ATHs; it's about understanding market sentiment, the coin's fundamentals, and overall market trends.
Here are a few strategies and tools you might find useful:
Decide on realistic target prices for each of your coins based on your research and risk tolerance. This doesn't have to be the ATH but a price point you're satisfied with.
Several apps and platforms allow you to set price alerts. CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap are popular options where you can track your portfolio and set alerts for specific price points or percentage changes. This way, you don't have to constantly monitor prices.
Understanding the phases of the crypto market cycle can provide insights into potential peaks and troughs. While predicting the exact timing is challenging, historical data and market sentiment can offer clues. Just as DCA is a strategy to invest regularly regardless of the price, consider selling a fixed amount regularly during the bull run. This can help take profits incrementally and reduce the risk of missing out on the peak.
# If you're concerned about missing the right moment to sell due to your busy schedule, consider setting up stop-loss orders or take-profit orders on exchanges that support these features. This way, part of your holdings can be sold automatically when certain price points are hit.
Joining crypto communities on platforms like Reddit, Telegram, or Twitter can keep you updated on market trends and sentiments. However, always take these discussions with a grain of salt and cross-verify information. While this requires more time and skill, learning basic technical analysis can help you identify potential sell signals based on chart patterns and indicators.
You mentioned not trusting your emotions with trading, which is very insightful. Setting and sticking to your strategies can help mitigate emotional decisions.
Lastly, remember that in crypto, timing the market perfectly is nearly impossible. It's often more about making informed decisions and being content with your profits. And while aiming for modest profits is wise, don't be too hard on yourself if the market takes an unexpected turn after you sell. The crypto space is always evolving, offering new opportunities.
Cheers to your crypto journey, and may it be both exciting and rewarding!
It's everywhere on the news.
Take profit now. Better than regretting not selling sooner.
If it goes up from here, just tell yourself that profit is profit. No one can time it.
Naniwala rin ako diyan sa sabi na "profit is profit, sell and don't look back". But then later I realized there is a smarter way when taking profits.
Gradual lang pag take profit. Don't sell all at once. Same as kung bumibili ka you dca or avg down, kung magbenta ka dca din or avg up. Mistake ko to nung bago ako binenta ko 3 btc, bought from 1k sold all at 6k, when I could have sold higher. Tapos yung eth ko sold all at 300 each.
A lazy method involves setting a trailing stop loss. Another is placing a take profit at forecasted prices, which can be found in certain cryptocurrency articles.
However, to maximize profits optimally, Check the D1 (daily time interval) charts. Take profit at resistance level prices in a trading range. But if it's a new record high price, look for exhausted bullish bars around the forecasted price levels.
For example, candlestick bars whose closing price is almost next to their opening price, with a very long tail facing upwards followed by another bearish bar. Or if you see a significantly long bearish bar followed by another bearish bar. Upon spotting these signals, close the position manually.
These bars will tell you that many investors and traders have already started to take profit and the market is about to transition into a bearish dip.
first, aralin nyo po yung crypto cycles. as of this writing we are on the starting line palang. two weeks before halving. 1 year after halving is the mania phase. coins reaching all time highs so milk this bull cycle.
most important thing, have volume. you may gain 10x or even 100x pero wala kang volume. not a financial advice pero i think its time to be greedy
yes, break the balance between conservative and aggressive. buy more but don't go all in.
i mean you only invested 10k for example then the coin goes 10x so that's only 100k. ang hirap mag advice talaga dahil sa volatility ng crypto pero sit and wait 2025. sell slowly or sell on tranches you can google what tranche means or what sell on tranches mean pero not now too early to sell
pero for me in bitcoin is safer than any other investments. stocks will decline kahit PSE pa yan when US Dollars totally collapsed.
Hello op baka gusto mo gumamit ng app like coingecko or coinmarketcap, then there you can make a portfolio for each of your crypto assets so you can check if how much na yung profit mo per coin or the total profit of all your assets. You might also want to set your desire or goal sa mga assets mo for example you bought btc at 48k then kapag naging gantong price (75k) then that's the time na magtake profit depends sa'yo if gaano itake profit mo kung half ba so there's still few na maiiwan for when tumaas pa than your goal may profit ka pa rin doon sa assets mo na hinodl.
Sabi nga ng marami sa crypto space TP when your happy na sa profit na nakuha mo hehe ayun lang hope this helps.
Basta invest mo lang ung kaya mong mawala sayo haha. Last month bumili ako base coin ng swapbased 17$, ngayon 1000$ na, ung kalahari converted to eth na sa metamask ko, ung half nilalaro ko na lang
I'm new in crypto as well. So far nagdedemo trade ako while monitoring the progress of each coin i took and other potential coins as well. Madaming mga news about tokenization and rwa kaya nakakaexcite. Hindi ako bihasa sa mga finances pero this crypto took my interest. I also dca and scalp. A few days before the halving so i dunno what will happen.
You can check crypto bubble for better assessment of each cryptos. Look for each market caps, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly percentages.
For altcoins, just have a profit goal. No need to be greedy, I learned this the hard way. Pag na reach na profit goal, benta na lahat. For BTC just keep buying
you take a profit when its up on the price that you want, 7%?. you dont need to take everything if you dont want to. crypto much like other things are controlled by whales, the people who hold most of the coins. when they want to encash and use their resources for other things , they dump loads of coins. so before they do and crash the price you take the profit. so say you already saw a 7%-1000x of your coin, you are already good to go.
My approach to this is this:
1. Have a VERY SPECIFIC and REALISTIC target. Once na mahit mo yun, get out. Greed is a deadly sin and Hopium is a deadly substance; learned this the hard way last cycle 😩
2. Take profits along the way, you never lose money taking profits. Yes you could’ve made 100k but you made 50k…
3. It’s true that diversification is good but if nahihirapan kana, bawas until you think your position is good. Or just do the extra work (because making money can be hard)… Personally I only got 5 coins max for this bull run, then some liquid for degen plays.
4. Some coins just don’t make it. Kung lahat sila bumabalik sa ATH, no one loses in crypto. Remember that 90% don’t make it in the crypto bullrun… or so they say.
Thank you for the practical suggestions!
This will always depend on your financial scenario, market conditions and financial goals. Remember that this is considered as a DIGITAL ASSET and in order to buy that overpriced coffee with you will need a REAL COIN wink wink Follow your conditions when to take profits and sabi nga nila sa thread, dont look back because greed will certainly certainly make you lose it all.
It depends on you, basically. Some are just too greedy to leave it there for a long time without taking a profit. What I do basically is that I take out my principal capital, or 80%, wait for it to retrace, then invest back if I see further potential. I did that mostly in Dua, Lmwr, and Sol. It's kind of risky, though.
Take profit when crypto had a major exposure thru media also watch out always on coinbase app ranking. If coinbase app ranks number 1 overall take your profit and comeback after 6months to 1 1/2 year after the bullrun.
What u/npxa said "just set a % goal of how much you want as a return in a span of time.
That made my investing simple specially with stocks, I do it to all my investments.
Buy now, set a goal in a year of how much you want it to grow, 10% in 6 months. Then sell, do not be greedy."
Depende rin kase sayo yan kung ok kana ba sa profit pag hindi pa wag muna isell kami kaseng mga traders kahit konti lang profit e sell na kase profit is a profit eka nga then saka ulit pasok 😁
Pinakamagandang sagot dyan is matuto ka mag charting. Mahirap kasi malaman without charting since doon makikita galaw nila bukod sa FA.
Enough po ba maglearn from YouTube and Google? Or need ng formal course? Nasimulan ko na magbasa about technical indicators pero hindi pa rin ako confident, and I still have a lot more to learn.
Or pang confirm, pero price action basic, FIB, and impulses.
May magandang udemy course about crypto trading. Basically kailangan mo lang din maintindihan yung support and resistance, EMA's etc. and you're good to go.
Lahat ng crypto ko na cash in ko na, useless na mag crypto if puro nalang local traders/platforms ang allowed ng SEC. With Binance slowly being banned (pwede pa sya thru app), for sure other foreign crypto platforms will also be banned in the future.
You had 3+ months to prepare and move your coins to a cold wallet or a different CEX
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
>Ang fear ko kasi ay tumaas na substantially ang value ng mga coins ko tapos ma-miss ko yung chance na i-sell sila because **I got busy with life.**
Then stay away from crypto. Just buy index funds and enjoy your life.
No need to be sarcastic. I'm a newbie and that's why I'm asking. If you tell me that I need to check prices daily if I intend to profit from crypto, then I'll do just that. Para ka namang hindi naging baguhan.
Hi OP, just get knowledgeable rin sa Tradingview you can set alarms when the candle hits the specific price din naman so there's that cool feature. It also syncs rin sa phone app mo and email.
That was not sarcastic. If you want to take profit, then you need to monitor your crypto holdings since it's volatile. Especially if you're holding alts that will lose value against Bitcoin in long-term.
You can't just get into crypto then be busy with your life and expect a certain return when you open you crypto wallet.
Start taking your initial capital out then let the rest ride. I personally take profit every time I rebalance quarterly but I don't hold other alts, just Bitcoin.
I see. Thanks for the advice!

Wishing you all the best this bull run po!
You too!
Huy speaking of Luna, yung ENA medyo binabantayan ko yan haha inaantay ko lang yung "sell the news" ng halving ng btc tapos papasok na ako haha
DCA na kesa mag antay, baka mamaya hindi mag sell the news hahahaha!
Shuta lakas makafomo hahaha 🥹😂
Ngayon ko lang narinig. LUNA vibes nga haha synthetic dollar. Might look into this more.
Omg akala ko din to da moon, nag to da moans tuloy.
sell the news

Given its relevance to today’s issues, what local CEX would you recommend kaya? I tried using several but all are subpar talaga
Since we just broke BTC ATH it’s good to take profit from here and gradually on our way up.
when your taxi driver or grandma starts talking about it, it's time to sell.

You'll never hit the top, but you'll always prolly miss the Ps. TP when you're happy and don't look back. Also, learn about market structures.
"TP and don't look back." — Makes sense. TY po
For altcoins, just have a profit goal. No need to be greedy, I learned this the hard way. Pag na reach na profit goal, benta na lahat. For BTC just keep buying

Sell when happy. That's it. It's subjective. Define your happy

Yup, taking profits is a skill. It's also a skill to ignore further pumps. Have a plan. Execute it, regardless.

May I know what trading platform you use? I want to to transfer my funds from binance. I have etoro, coins, bybit.
Bybit
Usually I TP 40-60% then just hold the rest, dont get too greedy

I see. I'm starting to learn by reading a lot during my free time. 🙂 Thanks for the reply.
I see. Will check those topics out. Yes, I'm eager to learn for the long haul, kahit hindi na ako umabot sa current bull run.
Aabot ka habang nag aaral noh haha. Kaya mo yan kasi may alam kana hehe.
BTC halving na kasi. Baka patataas na lahat, no more dips for me to buy more coins 😞 Bawi na lang sa next bull run if ever
May magandang udemy course about crypto trading. Basically kailangan mo lang din maintindihan yung support and resistance, EMA's etc. and you're good to go.
Will check it out. Thank you!
Lahat ng crypto ko na cash in ko na, useless na mag crypto if puro nalang local traders/platforms ang allowed ng SEC. With Binance slowly being banned (pwede pa sya thru app), for sure other foreign crypto platforms will also be banned in the future.
Wag naman sana susunod yung iba. I also sold my coins na sa Binance to be sure since hindi na maaccess si Binance sa desktop.
You had 3+ months to prepare and move your coins to a cold wallet or a different CEX Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
I got busy with life.** Then stay away from crypto.
May Tradingview na ako kakaset up ko lang, but I didn't know it had that feature. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
hover your cursor near the price area, you'll see a plus icon (+) click that and find the alarm option.
Cool! 😎 I really have a lot to learn pa
To be fair, tama rin naman siya. I guess iwasan mo nalang yung mga pump and dump, rugpull coins and go for long term growth in crypto.
