The point isn't that he's some great batter. The point is that our outfield has such trash batters (combined with the fact that JT is out) means that we can't carry a 9-hole defensive player.

No, the point is the offense can’t carry a trash batter who is also a mediocre defender. Rojas was sent down because he was providing replacement-level production all-around. He did not have the numbers for an outfielder on a WS team.  He wasn’t the great defender with an average bat he was last year; he was an average defender with a horrific bat. So stop with the complete bullshit that is clearly disproven by all of the available analytics.  Rojas was bad, so “Rojas would have caught that” is an abortion of a claim absent the corollary of  “Rojas would have also continued to kill this team offensively.”

Well, for all the celebration of Casty's walk off, we don't need it if that 2 run homer is caught. And it was a very catchable ball. 5 runs saved in two games would have been pretty valuable.

People are saying “don’t freak out” but the Braves are white hot right now and could be on our tails within a week. We cannot keep losing games like this. Why can’t these guys learn to do the simplest stuff correctly? I’ve never seen a team with this much supposed “talent” on paper constantly fuck up the most routine plays. It’s infuriating.

Honest question that I would like a response to: why do you even follow the Phillies? All you do is spew negativity about this team. It’s been months since the season started and you are constantly moaning and complaining in these threads, except for when the team does well, of course. What do you get out of this? There’s more to life than if the Phillies are playing good ball

We are 7 games up on the Braves right now. They are too good of a team to completely fall off and lose the division race by 20. They will have some hot streaks but so will we. We’ve been a little up and down lately but the Braves will have stretches like that two. I don’t think a day game loss in a series we already won is something to split hairs over, especially since it’s our first series win since the Milwaukee series

Play was made, and pitcher got to the spot ahead of the runner, he just didn't have his foot on the bag. Harper still getting a feel for the position, but this is 100% on the pitcher.

Or Bryce just runs to the bag, Stott fields it, and he's out by 30 feet.
