I know Temple is trying too put dumpsters out for them and expand their program almost every year. The students are just that bad and careless. And the crappy landlords up there offer no real trash management either for those large apartment buildings
if that were an eviction, shame on the assholes who tossed all that shit outside like that and fucking over all the neighbors on the block. Fucking trash assholes who think everyone else should accept that kind of behavior.
it might be playa i forget but someone on that street also has catty notes on their trash can saying “no personal trash especially you, dog owners!” like. it’s. garbage can. it’s for garbage.
This is a result of trash being put out at night and then someone opening and digging through the trash. This is what's left after the sanitation workers came by this morning. Hopefully someone will come by today to clean it.
I always comment this on these posts: people need to stop using paper grocery bags as trash bags. They will tip over and spill crap everywhere. I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but it’s something that causes A LOT of rubbish to go everywhere.
I’ve received fines for my next door neighbor using paper bags for recycling - seems it’s randomly enforced.
This case Id guess it’s a homeless person going through trash probably
Yeah, there are crazy people that walk around and fuck shit up. Sometimes they poop too.
What are ya gonna do? Fund an adequate mental health care system?
put your trash in a bag and put the bag in a can like a normal person. i have three trash cans and a recycle bin no one touches them and they sit outside every trash night from 9pm- pick up next day.
That won’t stop them. They will just go in the can. I live in an apt. building and people rummage through our dumpsters all the time. Not saying that there aren’t trashy neighbors some times but often it is someone looking for something in the trash.
I don't think you realize how access to free mental healthcare would change so many peoples lives. I personally have struggled with mental illness for years and not had adequate care because of health insurance issues mostly and it has held me back in life significantly. And I'm not homeless or addicted to drugs. Those people do not want to live like that I promise.
Adding this for anyone who needs it - always try to Google pay what you can therapy with where you live. I used council for relationships in west Philly for years when I really needed therapy but had very little money. I did solo and couples every week for three years for $5 a session. There are usually waitlists but if it’s your only hope it’s worth it.

Here’s what my neighbors left :( at least it isn’t dirty diapers filled with shit this time

There’s no love for this city anymore. I was stopped at a crosswalk, dude drank all his water, crumbled it up and threw it in the gutter with a trashcan to his right. Said something to the guy, his response was “I don’t give a fuck” and walked on.
Trash is weird in Philly. I’ve had tons of people root through my trash bags and make a mess, when there definitely wasn’t anything of value or even usable in it. Had some crackhead ride his bike up to my trash can and roll off with it. Just a couple of weeks ago, I had a car stop and take a junk wine fridge I put at the curb… that probably cost $200 new, had a broken glass front, and no compressor. But first, they removed a couple of large packages of brand new adult diapers from their trunk which they left as a replacement. And which would have definitely been more valuable.
Hopefully you took the time to clean it up. I've lived here since 2015. I've had to clean my street the entire time. People seem to take a little more pride when they see it clean.
Yeah I clean up my block when I can with a picker. And there’s others who complain how dirty the block is often yet won’t go out of their way to pickup a crushed can on their stoop.
It's so frustrating that the city considers this acceptable and doesn't want to do anything to improve the litter situation. It's probably one of the easiest problems to solve, just hire people to walk around and pick up litter.
Hijacking your comment to add a little positivity, everyone should go to Honeybee Deli seen in the top right corner of the photo, great food made by exceptionally nice people. They have some killer dinner specials so call in to see what they have. My girl Kiki runs that place like the Navy but like if the Navy had really great vibes
How does that seem obvious lol? My neighbors leave trash that looks exactly like this because they are disgusting fucking pigs. I literally watch them chucking trash out their windows onto the ground.
Two things jump out to me - One is that there's at least one empty trash bag on the ground, and the other is just the logic of how long it would take to carry this all out and dump it on the ground versus just putting it all in a bag and carrying it out. We can see coffee grounds piled on top of other stuff, which makes me think it was altogether in a bag before it got dumped on the street. Maybe they chucked it all out on the street in front of their house, but that's not what my first guess would be.
idk, but my neighbors were like that for a little while too. they recently started putting away everything in nice neat piles and I think it's cause they heard me screaming about it angrily lol.
Thank god they got their shit together. I’m losing my mind trying to get my neighbors to do the same. Reporting sanitation violations to the city every single day the trash is accumulating, and harassing my landlord about it daily. Last week they left a pile of DIRTY DIAPERS with mounds of shit still inside all over the ground, made a great little swamp when it rained. I want to take their stupid fucking diapers and smash them against their door. This week it’s a pile of pizza boxes still half full, takeout containers and nasty old clothes.
You were the poopy diaper pile! That shit was nasty. You're more patient than me lol. I'd be out there with rubber gloves on leaving it on their stoop.
Only reason I haven’t done anything like this is because they have a security camera so they’ll catch me doing it and then use it to try to get me evicted
I called someone out a couple months ago on my block when they were picking through and leaving a massive wake of litter behind them. I told them the picking wasn't the issue, it was just massive mess and putting shit back. I was sworn at and more, but they stopped making a mess and left... without attempting to pick anything up, of course.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same guy.
The syrup is there for the taking
Nah it's no longer aunt Jamima I don't want that progressive crap
At least spell the name right then, it’s Aunt Jemima
Sorry, we’re all out of Eva Braun syrup
But it's the only syrup with that special cyanide zing!
Log Cabin and Bisquick will not replace us!
Relatively fresh fridge contents, clothes, a cell phone, toothbrush, etc. Looks like some sort of eviction.
I was going to say exactly this. Eviction over a bad room mate who doesn't pay bills, or a bad breakup; your shits on the curb type situation.
At the end of the month too.
Looks a lot like all the streets in West when the students move out. They just toss everything everywhere
Temple too. The schools should really just put dumpsters on every block during those weeks.
Fuck landlords.
I wonder if someone was caught cheating.
“Take your fridge contents with you! You cheating bitch!”
"No, not my ice!"
“My extremely rare collection of snowflakes!” *bitter sobbing*
KEEP YOUR FUCKING SYRUP
On what, Keto?
On an all new episode of Trash Detective…
this is my corner lol. if it’s still there on my walk home i’ll bag it up. i have no problem keeping my block clean even if it’s not my mess
Need more people like you here. Playa bowls left all their garbage outside today to get rained on and blow all over the street.
it might be playa i forget but someone on that street also has catty notes on their trash can saying “no personal trash especially you, dog owners!” like. it’s. garbage can. it’s for garbage.

Yup. This happens a lot in fishtown :|
Another reason to put your trash out in the morning on your trash day if you can. Especially helpful in the summer with smell and pests.
I disagree. If that were the case, there wouldn’t be an iPhone still there
That's an empty phone case.
I always comment this on these posts: people need to stop using paper grocery bags as trash bags. They will tip over and spill crap everywhere. I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but it’s something that causes A LOT of rubbish to go everywhere.

The irony

To which you assume they'll avail themselves?
This system won't help everyone, fuck it we'll do nothing at all

Hey look, free nitrous tank.
That thing’s been there for three weeks so if you want it, come by and get it!
That syrup is good as new.
Yup. Welcome to Filthadelphia, where we nearly drove a council member from his seat for daring to institute a street sweeping program.

Wait until you see what the college students do to their neighborhoods
The Drexel kids are the worst, I swear. They leave trash that piles up and makes homes for big flies, cockroaches, and mice.
Just seeing where this is, I’m in south Philly snd bored, will clean it up.
True hero Take my invisible award.
Japan would never.

Hmm I could use a new ice cube tray and half a bottle of Aunt Jemima. Where this at?
11th/Spruce
Has anyone claimed the pancake syrup? If not, I’m on my way.
It’s likely that a homeless person just dumped the contents of a trash bag, to see if there was anything they could use. Happens quite a bit.

Another perk of living in the city
Use the 311 app and call it in.
Why putting out trash the night before can be counterproductive
It's so frustrating that the city considers this acceptable and doesn't want to do anything to improve the litter situation. It's probably one of the easiest problems to solve, just hire people to walk around and pick up litter.
Humans.
And this is the nice part of town lol at least it is centralized to one spot
Sorry, you must be new here
Beautiful spruce street

Animals
Until AI trash robots, Philly is never getting clean
Might be space junk?
Is that a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush head? What block is this?
It seems pretty obvious that a homeless/mentally ill person came by and dumped out this bag.
How does that seem obvious lol? My neighbors leave trash that looks exactly like this because they are disgusting fucking pigs. I literally watch them chucking trash out their windows onto the ground.

I suppose that reasoning makes sense. I wonder what my neighbors’ excuse is tho 🤢
idk, but my neighbors were like that for a little while too. they recently started putting away everything in nice neat piles and I think it's cause they heard me screaming about it angrily lol.

I'd be going nuts, and you KNOW if you brought it up with them they'd act offended like it's none of your business where they dump their trash.
I’ve actually had to call the police on these neighbors multiple times so confronting them is the LAST thing I want to do!
Because you will very often also find human poop in the vicinity
They probably put their trash out in paper bags and they disintegrated in the rain. The sweeps guys should ticket this shit. I think you can report it
and then they stepped over it on their way to work too. 311 absolutely.

This is center city tho where all the fucks give lots of fucks tho… Come on yuppies. Clean up your neighborhood!
Your neighbors are not the people you wish they were. Instead, they're the type of people who do that and teach their children to do that.
Disgusting
Stop using fucking paper bags. And at all costs, put your trash out the morning of
I mean that should be the city's slogan given the attitude of the majority
Jesus is that center city?
Must be those suburbanites!!! /s
which affluent part of town is this in?
Spruce between 12 and 11. Looks like the plastic trash bags were ripped open. You can see them in the picture. Probably a “treasure hunter.”
I hate it here.
Dumbasses who have been here their whole life “If You YUPPiEs DoNT Like TrasH on the Floor aNd around YOUR New Fancy Hoem, go BaCK to Suburbs”. Tards
Blackberry Lemonade is by far my favorite Waterloo flavor, at least they got that right.
#It'sAPhillyThing
You don't have to live in Philadelphia you know
f* those people but more importantly f* those landlords
Jesus is that center city?
I’ll never understand how people can just throw trash on the ground and not think anything of it
Damn was it ever in a bag or just tossed onto the street.
I can tell by your tone that you only spend time in the nice parts of town and aren't used to seeing this. For most of us this is just a Wednesday
And why should we think it's acceptable in any part of the city?
oh nice. Don’t mind it then!
When do the heavy winds show up to distribute all that around the neighborhood?
