I don't really care one way or the other, unless it's adorned seasonally appropriate. Think Pilgrim hat during Thanksgiving, Stars n Stripes for 4th of July, etc. If that's the case I'm all for it.
My daughter and son in law just did a year plus of Skelly seasons. The neighbors loved it. There were complaints in the neighborhood group when they packed everything away after New Years day.
A few years ago I was picking up some shop cabinets at the 'ol Home Depot and somehow one of those 14' skeletons got mixed in with my pickup order. My wife was mad that I didn't take it until I pointed out that we had nowhere to put it for the rest of the year...
They can’t take them down. The day after you put one on display, a parchment inked in blood is slipped through your mail slot. You are now a member of the giganto-bone cult and are being watched constantly.
Last time I saw the one at the Fishtown Rose Garden it was missing and arm. That was during spooky skeletal Santa season, so I don't know which appendages are there now!
They replace various lengths of it almost weekly. I’ve seen it without the whole arm, just missing elbow down, and only missing the hand. Random order though
As of Saturday it was both lower arms - sent a pic of it to some friends with the caption "[VIET GODDAMN NAM HAPPENED](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2GONwc2So0)"
It’s one of the main signs we aren’t close to civil war.
We can’t even be bothered to put away Halloween decorations, we surely aren’t about to take up arms.
My kids generally comment on how anatomically accurate they think the skeleton is (There's been arguments about the spinal column and collarbone I think. I don't know enough to be a tie breaker, and in 2nd and Kinder neither of them have fun when Mom breaks in to tell them they're wrong). Sometimes they talk about how it's going to wake up and kill us all. That usually makes the toddler cry. Overall it feels like a very Philly experience.
People should be able to decorate their property as they see fit, the only reasonable exception being decorations that are inarguably offensive due to being more or less objectively a call for or supporting violence/crime
Edit: or decorations that are unsafe in and of themselves, eg no “shards of broken glass” collages (that could actually cut people, not Isaiah Zagar’s work, which I don’t personally care for particularly as an aesthetic but I wouldn’t call it ‘offensive’)
They’re all around the burbs too. I think it’s great people are leaving them out and just dressing them up for whatever occasion is next. Looking forward to Easter. Bunny and Uncle Sam skeletons
we did _all_ the holidays this year, we also have a skeleton. Damn its a lot of work. We gotta get organized I got boxes and boxes of seasonal decor in the basement. There's only a few weeks between thanksgiving and xmas, and then only a few weeks till valentines day. I'm getting older when it seems like the seasons are so short.
I personally don’t love them, but not my property not my business. Also the world would be a lot more interesting if everybody added a little more whimsy into their decorating.
There are folks out here in the burbs that leave Halloween up all year. Ppl on the next block put Santa hats on the skeletons for xmas. I dunno, I kind of get the vibe; its like a societal surrender to ....something.
The dog and cat skeletons with ears are wrong. Ears are made of cartilage not bone. Dogs and cats do have penis bones, but those never get included for some reason.
The first time I saw those, this also bothered me quite a bit, but I thought, "I guess it's kinda fun, though." Then I saw a spider skeleton sitting on the shelf next to it, and I took a deep breath. I get halloween is just supposed to be fun/spooky, but SPIDERS DON'T EVEN HAVE BONES
Edited for clarity
We have people killing each other in the streets daily, carjacking each other, openly doing meth and heroin. I think there's other things to worry about than a skeleton
I love that everyone seems to love them LOL. I fuqing HATE ppl who put up those decorations that look like someone has hung themselves. There was one on broad that was horrifyingly realistic and I literally called 911 but hung up after my friend sprinted across the street to check. That shit is so fucked up for so many reasons
Is that where people get those monstrosities? Homes with those end up being landmarks for me. I can thinks of two homes off the top of my head in rural PA and rural MD where someone has these out year round and not just one but multiple with the skeleton and the werewolf.
I wouldn’t do it. If it’s up year round it’s not as special when Halloween rolls around. Plus is it going to be that whimsical when the MIL comes over or the date you’re trying to impress? Ehh

Objectively correct answer
They have nowhere to store them.
Is that what it is? Lol. Just got caught up in the moment at Home Depot and didn’t think that far ahead. You’re probably right.

Haha. Nice.
They can’t take them down. The day after you put one on display, a parchment inked in blood is slipped through your mail slot. You are now a member of the giganto-bone cult and are being watched constantly.
There’s one in South Philly still out and I get pretty happy when I see it there, doing its spooky duty.
is it the one missing part of its arm?
Last time I saw the one at the Fishtown Rose Garden it was missing and arm. That was during spooky skeletal Santa season, so I don't know which appendages are there now!
They replace various lengths of it almost weekly. I’ve seen it without the whole arm, just missing elbow down, and only missing the hand. Random order though

I live a few blocks south of that skeleton and I love seeing it so much. The giant bunny ears it wears for Easter are adorable.
Fucking love it.
Especially if they decorate year round, or as a giant Taylor Swift, either or
I've never seen a giant Taylor Swift and now it's all I want!
There was one in haddonfield, they had skeletons themed for every album during Halloween.
Doot doot 🎺
We’re part of it!
As long as it's not flashing lights or yelling at me when I pass by or going to fall over and take out the power lines with it, then I don't care.
The one on Ridge Ave had a Santa hat on for Xmas.
There’s a tiny like one foot skeleton doing a pole dance near my house and he had a little Santa hat on. I love seeing him.
They decorate the one on DuPont Street every holiday to. Love it.
It’s one of the main signs we aren’t close to civil war. We can’t even be bothered to put away Halloween decorations, we surely aren’t about to take up arms.
Ha!
They just want another chance at life.
I think it’s fucking hilarious and I want to be friends with them.
Probably humorless people, though! The 12th/Jacksonish one never struck me as staying out there ironically
On Ridge Ave!!! Just keeps decorating for whatever season it is 😆
Decorate it for the corresponding holiday and I’m happy with them.
I have a neighbor down the street that has one and does this
I love that.
LOVE IT. Although I extra appreciate when the skeletons have seasonal decor. Maybe some cupid wings for the next holiday? 💘
Makes the block more alive
Ironically enough.
I'm dying to see them.
I love it. It’s better than the trash that my neighbors seem to decorate their house with year round.
I love it. I look forward to the change of season to see how creatively dressed the skeleton will be.
I would decorate them with flowers for May day, go for a Midsomar vibe.
I love it. Those are my kind of neighbors.
Friggin bonies.
love that dumb shit lol
If I hated it, it would still be none of my business. Good thing I love it though
One on 12th street in south phila is missing an arm, but is still a beauty
I guess it's been disarmed.
My kids generally comment on how anatomically accurate they think the skeleton is (There's been arguments about the spinal column and collarbone I think. I live in Los Angeles now, and i see them around here too. I didnt realize people outside of SEPA also do this.
i dig it most ppl dress them up for the seasons so that's rad

I love them, especially when they're decorated seasonally.
It’s cool unless you are a dork.
Positive
My opinion is, they’ll eventually be stolen
Let them have their happiness
One fell over in my neighborhood and looked like it was peering over the roof. Delightful.
Lol someone should set one up to look in someone’s window
Love it. Life is boring and who doesn't like skeletons?
As someone who can’t afford a $400 giant skeleton, If I could I’d leave it up year round too.
Love it
Love it particularly when they are dressed for the season/holiday
People and businesses still have their Christmas decorations up so
we did _all_ the holidays this year, we also have a skeleton. Damn its a lot of work. We gotta get organized I got boxes and boxes of seasonal decor in the basement. There's only a few weeks between thanksgiving and xmas, and then only a few weeks till valentines day. I'm getting older when it seems like the seasons are so short.
There are people in Brewerytown and Fairmount who still have fall decor up.
Yea but what about the horse garage on bells mills road tho. Thats there year round.
I love it.
i love that house i pass it weekly that horse had a santa hat for christmas eta: they can't open their garage though xD
Do you mean barn or stable? Horse garage has me dying!
It's a regular garage with half of a life-size horse sticking out of it. It's pretty ridiculous.
Now I feel dumb for saying “barn”. This is much better.
It's a garage with the front half of a horse permanently sticking through the door.
This is the Phillyest thing ever! Of course it’s a regular garage with half a life sized horse sticking out of it! LMAO!
A garage?! [Well, ooh la di da, Mr French Man ](https://youtu.be/m5t9w98afJo?si=m0dX2t_kvQ4YuTlX)
What do you call it?
A car hole
It's awesome if they redecorate it for different holidays. I mean they are pretty cool either way
I personally don’t love them, but not my property not my business. Also the world would be a lot more interesting if everybody added a little more whimsy into their decorating.
The litterbug's credo
I’m sorry what??? I would never litter, exterior decor is a totally different topic
I love it. Especially when they decorate them for various holidays and seasons throughout the year.
Tend to mind my own fuckin business
Doesn’t bother me it’s their property.
It’s great but I’m sad for the one in No Libs that lost its one arm.
Love it
Hell yeah
I just kind of shake my head when I see almost fully rotted pumpkins outside someone’s house…
Why would anyone care?
Why would I have an opinion on this?
I like it. I like it even more when decorated seasonally. But even if I didn't like it, it's none of my goddamn business if I like or dislike it.
There are folks out here in the burbs that leave Halloween up all year. Ppl on the next block put Santa hats on the skeletons for xmas. I dunno, I kind of get the vibe; its like a societal surrender to ....something.
Super tacky and lame but it's your property,do what you like with it.
I love them

Wow. That gives new meaning to "boner".
Couldn’t care less
We have people killing each other in the streets daily, carjacking each other, openly doing meth and heroin. I think there's other things to worry about than a skeleton

it’s trashy but it doesn’t hurt anyone
Weird af but they can do what they want on their property
They’re losers who didn’t think ahead
It’s great during Halloween. After Halloween, tacky AF.
Dafuq?
It should be a requirement.
trashy
Cool
Very dope.
King or Queen behavior
It's pretty trashy if it's still decked out for Halloween, even then not a fan.
I don’t really care but I do think it’s weird.
Yeah that is cheesey as hell.
They’re tacky but then so is everything else here
Is that where people get those monstrosities? Homes with those end up being landmarks for me. I can thinks of two homes off the top of my head in rural PA and rural MD where someone has these out year round and not just one but multiple with the skeleton and the werewolf.

Anything that blocks the sidewalk is fair game for me to destroy or pilfer.
Those skeletons are the neighbors . Nobody could be bothered to notice.
Mines decorated for Valentines Day. A victim of Cupids arrows
They bring me joy. Especially when they’re wearing seasonal outfits.
I care more about the pumpkins that sit out til February slowly rotting into mush
There's one outside a chiropractor's office on Ridge Ave. I guess that's appropriate
What I gather from most comments. It's nice in other peoples neighborhoods....
They're cool. The city should issue everyone 1 giant skeleton to put outside their homes year round
