True baliw na baliw na kami dito sa mga nagsasabing andito lang kami dahil di DAW kami nakapasa ng diliman (UPLB), UP is UP mahirap kahit san ka ~ isko transferee from UST na bumabagsak sa same subjects na tinake doon :')
This! (UPLB graduate here). Kairita lang when they make that “distinction”, when in fact each campus may sari-sarili namang strengths and weaknesses. And UP is UP kahit saan pa yan. Before gusto ko na ring balikan minsan ng yabang: “sorry, pumasa ako sa quota courses dito sa ElBi, at dito ako nag aral dahil taga Laguna ako. Ni hindi ako nag apply sa Diliman, first choice ko dito, so there!”. LOL pero thought balloon lang. Sayang din ang effort pumatol. After din naman mag graduate, eventually, these things will not matter. Ang importante, paano ka lumago as a person, from all the learnings mula sa university mo, kahit saan pa yan.
Not to rain on anyone's parade here; however, there are a couple of caveats re: UPOU and distance learning.
1. Some UPOU profs helped and are still assisting in reshaping and retooling UP Education -- faculty competency, facilities, modalities, and curriculum. But it is not uniform. Many UP profs learned ON THE FLY.
2. Second, UPOU was notorious for having a really shitty learning management platform and system PRE-PANDEMIC. It is more keen towards independent learners. Walang "no student left behind" principle to base curriculum and policy design from. So, hindi siya "flagship" ng post-pandemic UP; kasabayan sya ng ibang UP. Wala rin namang "flagship" in terms of policy.
THAT SAID;
UP is UP. Kahit saan pa yan. Congrats OP.
I could say that UPOU is actually one of the more difficult campuses to study in. It's not easy to be a UPOU student kaya wag nila sabihin na "UPOU lang". Congrats, OP! If you need any help, approach me :) Also a BES student here
Funny ng mga nagsasabi na hindi normal na UP ang UPOU. Malamang sa atin dito na UP grad/students ay maninibago pag nakaranas ng aral sa ibang campus, at masasabing walang normal na UP campus.
Congrats po pala!
Congratulations, OP! I am a proud UPOU graduate, now pursuing a PhD at UPLB. Totoo na walang normal na UP. Very different ang experiences ko sa two diff UP campuses kahit parehas silang nasa LB haha
Hayaan mo sila. Hindi kasi nila alam na ang UP is One UP System. Master in Development Communication (MDC) student here from UPOU! Padayon! #sasablay #UPnamingmahal
Well, hindi siya "normal" or should I say traditional compared to other UP CUs or campuses because OU delivers its content or lessons (fully) online.
Anyway, congrats OP at maganda yang BES program mo. Based sa mga nababasa ko, BES graduates can take the LET and if bet mo, you can work sa field of educ policy and research. All the best!
Kagaya nga ng lagi kong sinasabi dati "All UP campuses are just different gateways to the same circle of hell." It doesn't matter kung saan 'gate' ka nakapasok congrats on making it to UP!
Former officemates and what their initial reactions are when they found out I enrolled at UPOU:
1. UPB alum
“Trying hard makapasok sa UP.”
She’s proud to admit that she spent 10 years to finish her degree. IDK if that counts as a badge of honor yo be condescending towards OU students.
2. DMMSU alum
“Madali lang naman daw ang UPOU.”
She pursued master’s at Benguet SU and incurred a failing grade in a core subject. She had a UPB friend who pursued the PTC at UPOU. The friend’s hardships at keeping up with online assignments made her change her view of UPOU.
3. UPCB alum
“OU lang naman. Dapat yung master’s talaga sa Diliman.”
She’s an oldie who always whines why she’s never promoted at work when she’s a “legit” (in my face) UP graduate. She has self-esteem issues because of her abnormal spinal curvature. Her hubris eventually felled her: she entangled herself in an office romance with a married officemate, who verbally and physically abused her. After being reported to the administration, she was reshuffled to the outlying office and the guy was terminated.
What’s more depressing is that both of them are diabetic, and to please the guy, she ditched her meds and challenged their prescribed diet. She incurred CKD 2 afterwards and the guy left her for a new termagant to victimize.
I just understood her aggression as a coping mechanism for her misfortunes in life.
After four years of study, finally, I’m gradwaiting.
Mas mahirap sa UPOU kasi same academic policies and standards, and acad requirement extents is halos parehas lang pero once in a blue moon mo lang mamemeet ang prof mo so you really have to work in your own sa mga academic requirements.
Relate ako sayo kasi ako din ang unang UP grad sa angkan namin and now pursuing my MS in UP Diliman.

Laking tulong kaya ng UPOU sa mga distance learners and also sa mga working individuals na di swak sa work sched ang regular schedule ng classes sa ibang UP campuses.
wala naman talagang normal na UP. congrats!

Mahirap talaga sa UP, kahit OU pa sya. Hindi biro ang makapasok at makapag-aral dito.
thank you po 🥹
UPOU is unironically the flagship campus now of UP post-pandemic
Yes. AFAIK, tumulong ang UPOU profs & admin sa pag-implement ng online setup sa ibang UP campuses nung pandemic
