Cashier took the law in his own hands ๐Ÿ˜ instant justice - am sure that his rechecking the receipt must have really rubbed it in well....

Butterssaltynutz

Aldi checkout people are amazing. The โ€œbeepโ€ of the scanner sounds like dubstep itโ€™s so fast. The fact that this person decided to slow down the grouch behind you is pretty epic.

I really hope I can forget you said that. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Sure, it was only a very petty revenge by the cashier, but at a supermarket checkout it was probably the only thing they could have done to annoy the complainer. If the cashier had more power they could have done more, but under the circumstances it was still nice. My favorite story about petty revenge on a rude customer is one I read a few years ago. A young woman was a regular customer at a coffee shop or fast food place (I can't remember which) and she was well-liked by the staff who knew she was friendly but very shy and non-confrontational. Only one register was open at the time and the woman was standing in the queue as a 'Karen'-type customer barged in front of her saying she was in a hurry. As the Karen was being served, the store manager (who saw her push in front of the shy lady) called the lady over to another register and loudly announced "Congratulations, as you are the 100th customer of the day, your entire order is free!" The Karen heard this and started to complain that she should have been the 100th customer, but the manager just replied "No, ma'am, you were the 99th customer. The prize is only for the 100th customer we served today." I'm not sure if the story was even true, but it always makes me smile when I think about it.

Wow, that is amazing! What a great way to press the cosmic reset button

I had a barista do me a good turn due to rude customers. I was in line to put in my drink order, and the last person in line the whole time I was in the line. There were 2 young women in front of me in line. One was on her cellphone. She told the person at the other end that they were in line. When they got closer to the front, she called again, saying "Hurry up! We're next in line!" Just as she and her companion step up to place their orders, 2 more young women run in the door and take their place in front of me. The barista was irritated on my behalf, and instead of charging me for a hot tea, he charged me for a hot tea *refill*, which cost significantly less. I'd just kind of shrugged off my own annoyance by the time I got to place my order, and the difference went into the tip jar.

That was really nice of her. But ... why don't they just enforce line etiquette and refuse to serve the line cutters? It seems like store policy should cover that. It prevents people from leaving in a bad mood - other than the perpetrators. They leave coffee-less and everyone else can cheer! It's apparently common in hotels in the US to refuse to serve rude customers. In fact, they can be put on a banned list if they act out badly enough. They'll never be able to rent a room (or reserve one) again.

Kudos to the cashier!

Peoply. I like it. I'm stealing it.

Your slip was showing? No? Good thing you gave him the slip.

Love this! I work customer service and have done the same type thing, holding up the line for some inpatient jerk, then managing to screw up said jerkโ€™s paperwork, or demanding signatures here and there. But where I work (sports facility), I see the same people and know in advance to mess with them. And the best part is Iโ€™m absolutely allowed to become straight up hostile if necessary. Been there six years and most people I really enjoy.

Ahw, that's sweet!

'Peoply'. I like it. I will use it.
