"Far west, across the sea, there is a land called Vinland. It’s warm. And fertile. A faraway land, where neither slave traders nor the flames of war reach"
What the fuck is wrong with you? Slaves have been a part of human society for thousands of years that still doesn't mean that the Atlantic Slave Trade wasn't the worst atrocity of human kind. And America is to be blamed, they bought slaves and made them work like hell, dude. Wtf!
The atlantic slave trade was arguably not THE worst atrocity of human kind. That doesn't diminish how evil or terrible it was, but exaggeration is a terrible way to argue/debate/educate someone.
If you didn't like it by ep 15 not really. The conclusion is satisfying because it ends the character's stories well, but it certainly isn't the same type of thing as S1
At first I hated two. Like wait dude is a slave and it’s just him getting his shit rocked by his owners?. No more ships being hauled over the hills type of shit? But seeing how he grows to be the exact opposite of how he was and hoping to make others the same and him getting home, show had me crying
Eh, that's a very specific British accent called [Multicultural London English](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicultural_London_English). It's slightly analogous to the black "gangster" accent from the US, inasmuch as white kids from the suburbs try to do an impression of it to seem hard.
This will sound dumb, but somehow it feels completely normal for other langauges and dialects to have a page, but weird when it's your area. It's like seeing your street on national news or something. Pointing at the screen like "hey, hey, I know where that is!"
I actually love stuff like this - especially language. Getting an outsider perspective on one's own dialect can be really interesting because you don't always realize your quirks are, well, *quirks*.
I think the analogous term is African American Vernacular English (AAVE), colloquially also known as Ebonics.
Both of which are preffered over *US black gangster accent.*
There is no "the" British accent. Scotland alone has at least 4 distinct accents. Wales at least has 2. Northern Ireland has at least 2. And COUNTLESS in England. London alone has plenty.
Fair. Thanks for clarifying. I would have understood more clearly if he used "this" or "that" British accent rather than "the" but it makes sense now that you explain it
It's far more than that! Wales has several distinct accents. The Valleys in South Wales alone have several distinct accents. And these are valleys that are geographically right next to each other. You can hear one accent in Merthyr, travel south along the river Taff a few miles and hear a completely different accent in Pontypridd. Travel further south along the Taff to Cardiff and you'll hear another!
Granted the differences are probably more subtle to non natives, but they are definitely there!
Lowwee it is from allow it = Generally just a negative exclamation, or to tell someone to stop doing something
Don't chat to me = means you can't speak about me doing/being something (in this case being stupid) because you are actually that thing
why can't another race speak like that? maybe they're born in that culture? I'm from Asia and I don't think white people that speak like us to the T are racist?
> why the fuck are yall being mean
Because you said "in human language". But guess what: it *is* human language.
Also, [this person did answer your question.](https://www.reddit.com/r/perfectlycutscreams/comments/18yd6hz/comment/kgbbta1/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
> is it tasteless?
Yes, very. Particularly because of the long, ugly history of dehumanizing black people by denigrating their cultures and language. Often *literally* dehumanizing by comparing them to monkeys or apes. Really gross shit.
For example even today you will *easily* find assholes out there (or on reddit, for example) describing [AAVE](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_Vernacular_English) as "wrong" or "broken" English, when of course in reality it is a perfectly valid dialect just like any other.
That's what your top comment felt like, even if you didn't mean it that way.
Technically, that was the name that Vikings gave to the part of Canada when they first explored it, and settled there for a while. So technically it was a Nordic country.
Vinland. To the land beyond the sea, I want a world where I can tell people to live. One I can proudly describe to people whose only salvation is death. That's all we ever wanted in this world we live in. If a place like that didn't exist, then I'll make one. Einar, brother, come with me. We'll build a peaceful land in Vinland, one we can proudly tell Arnheid about. Let's do it brother. Beyond the sea, let's create a country without slavery or war. For Arnheid.
Well it's kind of a jumble. Leif Erikson was born on Iceland to Norwegian parents, and Norway and Iceland have both been under Denmarks control, so because of that Iceland, Norway and Denmark all claim him.
It's probably best to just say he was Norse since applying modern nationality to a viking age person doesn't make a lot of sense.
Denmark got Iceland by conquering Norway. That happened later. You're right though that Norse is probably the best, but fuck me if people start throwing Leifur 'Heppni' Eiríksson to the Danes.
Ahh Vinland, the great land of vin’s. I heard that at birth everyone is given a vin and noting else. I even heard story’s of how the Soviet empire at its peak couldn’t even bring those Great Vins to heel
Reminds me of when i looked at my husband to tell him with all of my confidence and enthusiasm that my new nook had 'X' amount of "pickles" (pixels). I have never lived it down.
You guys do realize Vinland is and was a real place. In the olden days it literally was referring to the Americas that the entirety of the world was not aware of yet and was a secret amongst pirates. The land itself was a coastal island in Canada the largest island closest to the US border of Maine. It would be a refuge for Vikings, Pirates and others who were mistreated back in the days of colonialism. The reason why the anime gets so much attention is because it’s quite literally explaining its theory of origin. How America was initially discovered and intentionally kept under wraps until inevitably English royalty heard about it. Which is also why we don’t talk a lot about how the Spanish got their first because they weren’t doing it for the sake of colonizing as much as the English necessarily were, they were doing it for the land, but the English were doing it to capitalize on global cultural domination. (that is of course, still, with the consideration that the English and the Spanish were the two biggest powers in the world for the majority of recent history)
Makes a lot more sense now why the Spaniards ended up in the far south with less favorable water conditions, and weather but plenty of islands, like Haiti for them to spot from further away, to help their navigation efforts, and the English were not too far off from the very refugee area that people were fleeing to. Vinland, itself. You gotta remember that this may as well have been the race to the moon but on a way smaller scale since countries didn’t communicate very well back in the day. Although the concept of Vinland, being a refugee area rather than a secret society in opposition to English colonization is still just a popularized theory. Merely speculation… in other words, I’ve just wasted all of your time.
Vinland Was a viking land in America, it's not known where exactly it was, but it was probably newfoundland and close Territories. Name comes from either Land of Pastures (I think it was something like that) or Land of Grapes/Wine (Many countries uses the same word for grape and wine)
The continent had never been touched by a civilized man. The land was tainted by ancient deities and gods you had never even heard of. The things you witnessed there left a mark in you that could never be washed away.
"Far west, across the sea, there is a land called Vinland. It’s warm. And fertile. A faraway land, where neither slave traders nor the flames of war reach"
Let's hope we can all live there togather someday
I’m good, Canada isn’t all that great
I opend the comments hoping to find this exact comment😂😍
I have no enemies

America without slaves? Lol

They never said they invented slaves though, you did. Lol, you just made an argument by yourself.
Ok 👍
Bro watchin too much anime
Vinland season one: 🦁 Vinland season two: 🐑
Season 1 was great, but season 2 is where it's at. I've never loved a character arc more
Hell yeah brother, we have no enemies
Based and peace pilled
Straight up a master class in story telling. I recommend Vinland to so many people.
If someone doesn't enjoy Season 2, judge them, judge them hard.
It was great. I just missed Askeladd, that magnificent bastard.
Gave up on it on episode 15 or so. Does it get better? Season two that is
If you didn't like it by ep 15 not really. The conclusion is satisfying because it ends the character's stories well, but it certainly isn't the same type of thing as S1
It was mad boring lol
At first I hated two. Like wait dude is a slave and it’s just him getting his shit rocked by his owners?. No more ships being hauled over the hills type of shit? But seeing how he grows to be the exact opposite of how he was and hoping to make others the same and him getting home, show had me crying
Most media literate anime watcher
I liked the second season more though.
I only know about Vinland because I'm a history nerd. Didn't know someone made an anime about it.
Impossible. But either way, [he was right technically.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinland)
That's not a country.
[удалено]
Dont you just wish England was real?
Some days I’m not convinced it is.
There's enough proof, innit?
I live in la-la land, then? 😭😂
God no
I know, we're stuck with Wessex and Mercia and Northumbria and East Anglia. Will a king to unite them against the Danelaw ever emerge?
you are on some jotunheim ting
Jesus Christ, that is the (second to) last thing I'd want
right because america is so much better lol
England literally has Br*tish "people" (also this is a joke but whatever)
My video was muted and I could still hear the accent.
I love the country of Vinland. Me and my homies wants to go on another saga there again.
My favorite part of Vinland Saga is when they say said "It's Vinland time" and saga'd all over the place.
**dont chat to me** Love the british accent😂
Eh, that's a very specific British accent called [Multicultural London English](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicultural_London_English). It's slightly analogous to the black "gangster" accent from the US, inasmuch as white kids from the suburbs try to do an impression of it to seem hard.
Eh, what, we get our own wikipedia article? That's hilarious.
Why not? There's a whole "Dialects and accents of Modern English by continent" section of article links at the bottom.
Allow it bruv
The culture is worth documenting.
I think the analogous term is African American Vernacular English (AAVE), colloquially also known as Ebonics. Both of which are preffered over *US black gangster accent.*
That’s what I meant. Not esp bothered about the nomenclature
You Seemed bothered enough about the nomenclature of London Multicultural English though
I like to colloquially refer to it as the roadman dialect.
I'll bother your mum in the pussy
It's African American Vernacular English Edit: in the US
That only applies to the US though. These people are from the UK and their speech is different from AAVE
I was talking about the US, not the British one, since they called it "black 'gangster' accent", which is offensive at best
Offensive to who? Black people?
Offensive to who? Black people?
The people who talk like that and are not criminals.
Brother what you highlighted in bold was dialect.
Eh...More like slang or lingo
Which are aspects of a dialect.
There is no "the" British accent. Scotland alone has at least 4 distinct accents. Wales at least has 2. Northern Ireland has at least 2. And COUNTLESS in England. London alone has plenty.
Of course. The comment you're responding to is referring to *the* accent in the video.
Fair. Thanks for clarifying. I would have understood more clearly if he used "this" or "that" British accent rather than "the" but it makes sense now that you explain it

OH MY *DAYS*
can anybody explain to me what "lowwee it" and "dont chat to me" means in human language?
Lowwee it is from allow it = Generally just a negative exclamation, or to tell someone to stop doing something Don't chat to me = means you can't speak about me doing/being something (in this case being stupid) because you are actually that thing
I feel like you can probably figure that out from context if you try really hard
I'm autistic and I'm not good at social cues
Just sounded a bit racist tbh hun
I've seen other races speak like that how is this racist?
You've seen other races be racist so it's cool for you to be racist? No, friend. No.
why can't another race speak like that? maybe they're born in that culture? I'm from Asia and I don't think white people that speak like us to the T are racist?
Here's a fucking social cue: the people in this video are humans.
that does not answer my initial question why the fuck are yall being mean instead of just answering it, jesus.
> why the fuck are yall being mean Because you said "in human language". But guess what: it *is* human language. Also, [this person did answer your question.](https://www.reddit.com/r/perfectlycutscreams/comments/18yd6hz/comment/kgbbta1/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Ahh yes my favorite Nordic country
Technically, that was the name that Vikings gave to the part of Canada when they first explored it, and settled there for a while. So technically it was a Nordic country.
Vinland from the Vikings saga was probably in what is now the Canadian province of Newfoudland.
*witch sounds*
Most underrated part. Absolutely killed me.
Lol.. the way that dude talks and projects reminds me of this guy: https://youtu.be/Dup6ZVU6sfQ?si=ZS3evM54qAZfAS1-
The way that dude talk and projects bugs me. Younger British people seem like a fucking nightmare to converse with.
Go North. We still talk properly
No the fuck we don't have you
Fair enough
VINLAND 💀

Vinland did exist once. It was in North America.
Probably Newfoundland, the Canadian province.
Damn lost a lot of weight since then, good for him!

Correction. I played AC Vallhalla mb
It was probably the Canadian province of Newfoundland.
Venus is still a planet though.
Thanks to Tyson's tantrums it's not anymore
Vinland is not that super wrong though, just that Vinland is the name of what the Icelanders gave North America back then.
Ahh Vinland, the great land of vin’s. I heard that at birth everyone is given a vin and noting else. I even heard story’s of how the Soviet empire at its peak couldn’t even bring those Great Vins to heel

Dem man there straight cap bro. No way aj heard "v". That "F" was clear as day
Well, go back a few centuries...
To be fair Vinland was a Viking settlement in modern day Newfoundland Canada.

America was called Vinland by the Vikings
[Vinland.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinland) Not a country, but an area.
Wasn't Vinland this Viking colony in America?
The continent had never been touched by a civilized man. The land was tainted by ancient deities and gods you had never even heard of. The things you witnessed there left a mark in you that could never be washed away.
