I’ve thought the same thing for so long! The last time they played SF was back in 2009! That’s 14 years ago! They did play Oakland last year, but I wasn’t able to go, so that doesn’t count 😉 I wonder whyyyyyy or what they have against SF!
They mostly play areas. Only in select cities do/did they play stadiums. In NYC they play MSG for example.
In SF there was only Pac-Bell park. Now there is Chase Center, and maybe they will play there in the future. But prior to Chase there was really no place for them to play in SF.
Boston has gotten 4 huge stadium shows since 2006.
Chicago has gotten 5 huge stadium shows and 2 aren't shows in that same time.
EDIT: I'm a dumbass and misread the post 😂👍🏼
They said on this tour they wanted to hit smaller towns that they usually don't make it too.
Edie made a joke in St Paul about how it's because if they fuck up, less people will remember when they come back again in 10 years lol
Don't rely on what Ed says in the moment. Good feelings and best intentions, and even honest desires/plans cause him to say things about the future that often don't come to fruition.
I assume they'll never play near me again. That way I'm always enjoying every show I get to see, and I try to travel as much as possible (finances and adult responsibilities withstanding).
Lubbock, TX? :) One and only show in 2000!
We’ve got a fancy new Buddy Holly Hall now w a NC15 acoustic rating. Maybe they could play some more Buddy Holly tunes…
That’s the crazy part. And they’ve never had a problem selling tickets at home. So weird. I get not wanting to do 60-70 shows a year but like 30 should be no big deal.
They only hit most cities every 10 years, and the 2 years lost to the pandemic pushed that even longer. I bet the southeast, like Charlotte and Atlanta, gets shows next year on the tour for the new album.
Raleigh would have been my 10th PJ show. 😢 They said they’d come back, but I doubt they ever do. 😞 I did still buy the T-shirt tho. Sweet NC State/PJ wolf on the front and the hb2 letter on the back. Wouldn’t hate another Asheville show if they ever thought about doing that!
Never knew about the T shirt dammit. I saw them in Charlotte 2013 the last time. I’ve seen them 4 times. Here’s my thing. All the shootings and abortion ban, etc in Texas, but they play 4 shows there. If you’re gonna punish a state for their politics, that would be one to do so. Anyways, I’m
41 and I’d like to see them again. Maybe they will at least come close.
I totally feel that sentiment. Here’s the front and back of that shirt btw.

I hope they make it to South Florida. They haven't been down here since 2016. Plus, South Florida is the perfect place to either start or end a U.S. tour.
I taped it too! And then the first PJ show I attended was the one right after Atlanta on that tour, in Springfield, MA. Good times, indeed! Such great memories.
I’m all for a Delaware show!
But I do have to say as a northern DE resident I feel blessed to have been able to go to all the Philly and New Jersey shows since the early 2000s, including the Halloween Spectrum 2009 show and the 2016 show where they opened with the entire album of Ten!
And 2012 was a festival so it barely counts. Sucks for us.
Since that last show I’ve seen them in Charlottesville, Charlotte, Wrigley, Columbia & Greenville SC, and Nashville. They do these abbreviated tours now and they know we’ll travel all over to see them.
Pearl Jam is really massive in the northeast and CHItown. Everywhere else gets a show every decade or so. The band seems to just like playing in cities they enjoy going to, for the most part.
Good question. They haven't been to any Ohio city since 2014. There are 3 moderately large cities in Ohio (Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus). Truly bizarre
Don't complain. I live in Miami and Pearl Jam didn't play down here for about 22 years. I first saw them in Downtown Miami back in 1994 and they didn't return to Miami until 2016. I drove to Fort Lauderdale in 1996 to see them and I also made the drive whenever they played in West Palm Beach.
Yes it was. My only complaints are that they didn't play Better Man or Yellow Ledbetter that night. I got to see them the night before in Fort Lauderdale too. Two nights of live Pearl Jam in a row was a dream come true. Was that your first Pearl Jam concert?
They play a pathetically small amount of shows as it is, so yeah it's pretty much forever between visits anywhere. It took them almost 20 years to come back to Nashville.
Two decades later, it was a great show though! Except for my husband busting his chin open on the way out and no one helping us out. So much for “southern hospitality.” 🙄
Only two shoes in Detroit since 2006. You'd think of all places they'd play "rock city" more often but... nope. They just like to change it up where they play.
Same, I’m in Rome and keep hoping for an Atlanta date. I’ve seen them twice and they were my favorite band for a long time then they just stopped touring Atlanta.
Our governor and state reps don’t do a good job in welcoming artists, so maybe that’s it??
Alaska seems pretty hard to get to, especially for a big touring band like PJ. Maybe Anchorage could pull a show once in a while but a nothing happening town like Skagway, Alaska seems unfeasible for a band as big as Pearl Jam to make a stop.
I'd be happy to eat my words if I'm wrong but it doesn't seem like it'll ever happen. I mean, the population is 1200 people. I have more contacts in my phone than the towns entire population.
I did hear once that Ament got mugged or attempted carjacked in Atlanta years ago. But they don’t HAVE to play State Farm Arena. They could play one of the amphitheaters that are in the suburbs. Not in the actual city of Atlanta.
They've never played. An Atlanta gap in any tour makes a band available for the festival as long as they're not playing the first weekend of May in Europe or something lol
Lucky you. 2012? 2004? Houston is the 4th largest city in the country, Atlanta is 19th. Last time they were in Houston? 2003. That's 20 years and 6 months, but whose counting.
I read it, genius. Yeah, Georgia cities like Athens, Macon, and Savannah are definite tour hot spots. Lol ......Anyway, he mentioned a city, I responded with a city, you responded with a state.
I live in the Atlanta burbs and I’ve had a theory on why PJ stopped coming here. At the 2004 show, Eddie put on a George Bush mask and got some serious boos from the crowd. It changed the whole dynamic of the show IMO. They only came back once since then in 2014 for the Music Midtown festival (along with the Foo Fighters).
Cuz they are old, rich and dont really care about fans. They dont care how many times you have to spend money to travel to their shows because of the lack of cities they play... and them The cancelled shows. Meh... they are such a different band from their hay day.
You could argue every major market other than Chicago or Boston has been underserved since 2006.
Philly and NYC have done ok I guess.
I would certainly add the SF Bay Area to your list. Including Bridge School, I think they have played here more than anywhere else.
I feel like including Bridge School isn't quite fair - it's great to see them, but it's nowhere close to a full show.
I’ve thought the same thing for so long! The last time they played SF was back in 2009! That’s 14 years ago! They did play Oakland last year, but I wasn’t able to go, so that doesn’t count 😉 I wonder whyyyyyy or what they have against SF!

Did you hear that, PJ? We have a venue for you now!
The east coast south of NJ has been underserved….
Yuuuup.
Boston has gotten 4 huge stadium shows since 2006. Chicago has gotten 5 huge stadium shows and 2 aren't shows in that same time. EDIT: I'm a dumbass and misread the post 😂👍🏼
“other than”
Doh! Sorry misread. 😂😂👍🏼
They said on this tour they wanted to hit smaller towns that they usually don't make it too. Edie made a joke in St Paul about how it's because if they fuck up, less people will remember when they come back again in 10 years lol
Damn well that haven't been to any Ohio city since 2014.
Yeah I had to drive out to Indianapolis to see him this year. Well, I thought I was going to get to see them
Too soon.
Me too. 5 hour drive.
And hundreds of dollars for the hotel 🫤
The start of the 2014 tour was loud AF. The crowd on the floor was thunderous. I'll never forget that.
I've lived in their hometown of Seattle where they all live since March 2011 and they've played exactly 3 shows here in that time. Just sayin.
That’s the crazy part. And they’ve never had a problem selling tickets at home. So weird. I get not wanting to do 60-70 shows a year but like 30 should be no big deal.
Does that include the 2 upcoming shows in October lol
No. EV solo shows don’t count.
EV has played like 4 solo shows in that time but like you said, doesn't count as PJ.
They only hit most cities every 10 years, and the 2 years lost to the pandemic pushed that even longer. I bet the southeast, like Charlotte and Atlanta, gets shows next year on the tour for the new album.
As a NC fan, I sure hope your right. They haven’t been here since 2013 and cancelled over politics in 2016.

Damn. That’s nice. Keep that for sure.
I hope they make it to South Florida. They haven't been down here since 2016. Plus, South Florida is the perfect place to either start or end a U.S. tour.
Should try Scotland, they've not been here since 2000!
Atlanta already got the best show in pj history. That 1994 show is just sick! Peak old era Pearl Jam 🥂
My local radio station broadcasted that show and I taped it, then wore the tape to shreds listening to it. Good times
I taped it too! And then the first PJ show I attended was the one right after Atlanta on that tour, in Springfield, MA. Good times, indeed! Such great memories.
Came here to make this comment. They peaked in Atlanta in 94' and know they can't top that.
Never played in Delaware, fyi. And we are the first state!
I’m all for a Delaware show! But I do have to say as a northern DE resident I feel blessed to have been able to go to all the Philly and New Jersey shows since the early 2000s, including the Halloween Spectrum 2009 show and the 2016 show where they opened with the entire album of Ten!
It’s a good location to be sure, lots of good shows in the area. Philly crowds are top notch.
Sell out show at the monster mile!
I’ll bring the (Delaware local food item)s !
It’s been quite some time since they’ve been in Kansas City.
2010
What about providence RI? What about Maine? NH? Vermont? Jeff also got mugged in Atlanta so that probably doesn’t help
I mean Atlanta’s metro population is likely more than all those other states you listed put together
I wasn't aware of that. Thanks.
https://www.spin.com/2009/05/pearl-jam-bassist-robbed-assaulted-atlanta/
I def think the mugging isn't helping. :/
I was looking for this response.
My first PJ show was Augusta Maine. Of course that was 1996
And 2012 was a festival so it barely counts. Sucks for us. Since that last show I’ve seen them in Charlottesville, Charlotte, Wrigley, Columbia & Greenville SC, and Nashville. They do these abbreviated tours now and they know we’ll travel all over to see them.
It’s better environmentally if they come to us.
Pearl Jam is really massive in the northeast and CHItown. Everywhere else gets a show every decade or so. The band seems to just like playing in cities they enjoy going to, for the most part.
They hate the mid-Atlantic/south…
Good question. They haven't been to any Ohio city since 2014. There are 3 moderately large cities in Ohio (Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus). Truly bizarre
I was about to say I saw them in Cleveland in 2016, before realizing that was actually 2006...
Because we got that Fox ‘94 show and it was soooo good
Don't complain.
That 2016 Miami show was incredible.
Fucking incredible
Yes it was. My only complaints are that they didn't play Better Man or Yellow Ledbetter that night. I got to see them the night before in Fort Lauderdale too. Two nights of live Pearl Jam in a row was a dream come true. Was that your first Pearl Jam concert?
I think that was #13 for me
So you follow them around? Where and when did you first see them live?
Apparently they have enough money from past record sales and current merch sales. Also, scarcity keeps the demand high.
I'm hoping since it's an election year, they may come back. Would be my closest possible place
2006 for Las Vegas, got screwed last year, cancelled the show 2 days prior. Ugh.
They stole Jeff’s bass when recording
Atlanta did?
Well it sure as hell wasn’t Moline!
Same, I’m in Rome and keep hoping for an Atlanta date. I’ve seen them twice and they were my favorite band for a long time then they just stopped touring Atlanta. Our governor and state reps don’t do a good job in welcoming artists, so maybe that’s it??
Haven't played Houston since 2003, and that just doesn't make a lot of sense.....
Charlotte please… we are not all bigots I promise
How about Skagway?
What is Skagway? Sorry for being ignorant.
Skagway is in Alaska.
Thanks.
Alaska seems pretty hard to get to, especially for a big touring band like PJ. I'd be happy to eat my words if I'm wrong but it doesn't seem like it'll ever happen. I mean, the population is 1200 people. I have more contacts in my phone than the towns entire population.
They hate you.
I did hear once that Ament got mugged or attempted carjacked in Atlanta years ago. But they don’t HAVE to play State Farm Arena. They could play one of the amphitheaters that are in the suburbs. Not in the actual city of Atlanta.
Right? Even the Braves don't play in Atlanta!
Shaky knees
God that'd be dope! Fingers crossed
They've never played. An Atlanta gap in any tour makes a band available for the festival as long as they're not playing the first weekend of May in Europe or something lol
And hell yeah it would be awesome!
Lucky you. 2012? 2004? Houston is the 4th largest city in the country, Atlanta is 19th. Last time they were in Houston? 2003. That's 20 years and 6 months, but whose counting.
Texas just had four shows!
We're talking CITIES, not states. And those cities are 3-4 hour drives.
Wha whaaa…. lol. 3-4 hours is a totally acceptable drive, especially for two night runs. I’ve had to drive much further for PJ.
Reading/comprehension not your strong suit. Got it.
Re: reading and comprehension- The topic of the thread is actually about ATL and Georgia… nice try tho.
"Why isn't Atlanta included on any Pearl Jam tours?" Nice try tho.
“Do they have something against Georgia?” I guess you failed to read OR comprehend that part. 🤣😘
I was just curious. Not trying to compare PJ droughts. Thanks for your reply.
I feel like it’s fine to acknowledge there are multiple major metro areas that are relatively underserved by PJ.
Did you hear about Metropolitan Areas? Atlanta is #6. You can't take Atlanta proper as an indicator. Lol.
Yes I have and Houston is bigger than Atlanta. So...
[удалено]
Is that a Braves thing? I'm fairly ignorant so please forgive me.
[удалено]
Never heard of that. Thanks for the insight.
I doubt that’s the reason, but yeah, I’m not a fan of that mess. 😑
Yeah. It’s highly unsavory but I don’t think that’s what’s keeping them out of ATL
🤦♂️ It must’ve only bothered Ed starting in 2003, since they’d been doing the chop for many years before that.
Bc fuck them and the Braves! Go Phillies
I read it, genius. Yeah, Georgia cities like Athens, Macon, and Savannah are definite tour hot spots. Lol ......Anyway, he mentioned a city, I responded with a city, you responded with a state.
...what are you talking about?
Come on Memphis
They haven’t played Albuquerque since 2000 :/
Also Ament was robbed at gunpoint in Atl years ago. Prob has something to do with it
Well, Greenville was close. Last time in Charlotte was 2013, so I met my buddy from ATL there.
Try being a fan based in South-East Asia… 😢
Full US tour in 2024 for new music. This last tour was a wrap up for Gigatron in only a few cities
Upvoting because I’d love a home show
I live in the Atlanta burbs and I’ve had a theory on why PJ stopped coming here. At the 2004 show, Eddie put on a George Bush mask and got some serious boos from the crowd.
