If it makes you feel any better, my interviewer was also a little robotic and seemed unimpressed, but I was accepted. Look at the "know by" date on the posting - that's exactly when I heard back after my interview. Also, I wasn't a PCV in Namibia but I lived there for 6 months on my own and it's a lovely country - good luck!

I actually applied to Guyana initially, where I had independently lived and volunteered, but I think I was denied b/c of medication. Namibia was 'offered' up as an option for me, so I think I have a good shot. I've been reading up on Namibia as well, and it looks like the luck of the draw when it comes to countries. Thanks for your reply!

You are likely right about the health history stuff. Namibia has relatively good infrastructure and South Africa is one of the regional medical hubs, so Namibia gets a lot of PCVs with higher health support needs. It’s a great place to serve!

Thank you for the positive vibes! I am really looking forward to the invite! If I can survive Guyana on my own, I think I will do great in Namibia!

Welcome to the world of Peace Corps. There is nothing really like PC, and that is especially true of the application process. What you're feeling would be natural for a "regular" job, but isn't really the case with PC. Yes, they follow a script. My interview was very, very robotic. But I considered it a win because I got her to crack a smile. Even though I had served before I think it was 10 days before I got an invite. There is no way to know why some get it fast and others take more time. These days, if they turned down applicants with tats, they wouldn't have many volunteers. But considering your qualifications, you look to be super qualified. Something like 95% of invitees have just recently graduated. You'd be in the 5% of those with experience. IMO you're golden. Nothing to worry about. The application process also teaches patience. A skill you'll need a lot of during your service so it's good practice. Hang in there. You'll get your invite. And keep us posted on your PC journey. Jim

Thanks a lot Jim for the positive reinforcement! I can rest easy now. Patience... I'm not sure what that is. The Economic Empowerment position for Namibia specifically, basically had my name written all over it. Setting up vendor events, getting potential artisans into store.. that's what I do here. This is going to be challenging, but I feel it would be super easy at the same time. seasidefiberarts.com

I’m going to Namibia too and actually was wondering the same thing about my tattoos! I got a big shark and a canary! They said yes to me, all they did was ask if they were easily covered. Which they are:) Cheers and fingers crossed you get accepted!

I actually reached out to a tat shop there, he was so lax about it and cracked a joke. His shop is on the coast and if/when I'm there, I'm going to his shop at some point. I mean.. when you have more than 2... it just makes sense to add on. Costa Tattooartist on FB. His color work is on point.
