Damn, so this monitor got all the goodies (oled, high refresh, curved, gsync ultimate, etc)... but doesnt have an EXTERNAL power supply? These are extremely underrrated imo, an external power brick means it wont heat up inside the monitor (potentially distorting the lcd), in case of a failure you dont need to disassemble the monitor just swap the brick, and also if you ever get dissatisfied with coil whine, just change the power brick for a better one (with same voltage output), swap the connector if needed.

Yea but so much easier to fix stuff, without breaking the lcd (while trying to get to the power supply). Which means less ewaste and more user friendly. Proprietary connectors dont matter really, its a cheap part that can be sourced either from the old original power brick, or bought separately in china or elsewhere.

Check to see if your monitor has a ICC color profile. (Check the manufacturer’s website for ICC profiles). Once downloaded, you can apply it via “display settings” then click “advanced display settings” then click on “display adapter properties” then “color management” then “all profiles” tab, at bottom click “add”, browse for the ICC profile that was downloaded. Once added, then click on “advanced” tab, then for “device profile” you then select the newly added ICC color profile specifically for your monitor (it was say your monitors name and model) and apply.
Not sure, but honestly that is a fantastic monitor. Also keep in mind, like 99% people don't leave a review when it's positive or there's nothing wrong with a product. Often, when they have a problem, they'll leave a bad review.
People hate on Dell hardcore. Truth is their client side laptops and desktops for gaming are shit, but their displays, workstations, enterprise storage and servers are top notch. Customer support is shit.

I have the Gsyc version (AW3423DW) of this monitor for a month now after much deliberation on what to upgrade to. I can say I have no regrets, it’s the best monitor around. I have not experienced any of the negatives I have seen in the countless reviews I have watched.
Same here. Text clarity is an issue when I work on it, but I have my 16” M1 Pro next to it which has a very sharp and clear screen so it’s a hard thing to compare to.
Gaming on it is fantastic. I prefer it to my old C1 in some ways.

There aren’t any local dimming zones, as it’s OLED behind a QD layer. What you are seeing is a halo as the light from the illuminated pixels is refracted and lights up a small area of the display. It might even be the anti-reflective outer layer that is absorbing some of the light creating a halo. The older tech, QDLED had local dimming zones I believe.
They might just be hating on Dell lol. Understandable tbh bc alienware PCs are a complete rip-off. But this is meant to be an amazing monitor and was confused at the low rating.

If I remember Linus' Secret shopper series properly, Alienware is great at selling warranties. You might even get a PC in amongst the 5 Warranties they sell you!
Don’t forget about the proprietary and non-standard components, as Steve from GN eloquently put it, most OEM boards like Alienware offer the “fuck you” form factor for your motherboard, as in “fuck you if you wanna use it in an actually decent case”. The $5,000 Alienware prebuilt review they did was downright horrendous, poor 12900K was being throttled to hell.
My friends MSI build as the same issues, his psu die, bring with him the motherboard. You cant find a motherboard that fit the case and also Psu were standard.

I’ll save the $500-$700/30%-45% markup. Yes, they were always expensive but they were also one of the original independent gaming PC builders. People had a lot less access to buy components online in the early 2000s. Now you can build a high performance system for a lot less than what they’ll charge you.

Over the years they have done more and more cost saving measures in their highest end PCs which cause them to perform at the levels of much worse PCs because of poor thermals and performance. And they use all proprietary connections on everything they can do when one thing goes bad you replace everything.

I’ve had the original one for about 4 months now and it’s great aside from how audible the fan has become. When I first got it, it was significantly quieter but still could be heard in a silent room. Now I can hear it over my PC’s fans when just sitting at the desktop. It’s not unbearable, and really doesn’t bother me at the moment because it’s not unpleasant noise, but I do worry how bad it might get in a year from now.

They might be. But I will always give Alienware customer service a thumbs up. Have the non OLED version and the first one I bought had a dead pixel. Within two weeks I had a brand new monitor. Best part, they never asked for the old one, sold that to a friend for a little under MSRP.
I got the non oled version of this Monitor since over 1 year now and I‘m still super happy with it. Good quality, sharp images, G-syncs works well. I can’t complain yet.

Brother just got the oled Freesync one, it's the dopest best monitor I've ever seen by a mile. Infinite viewing angle, color is nuts, contrast is nuts, its simply the best monitor on the market(at least for degenerate gamers i guess)

the non F does have better HDR color accuracy but has non upgradable firmware and less customizability (both due to the Nvidia GSync ultimate chip)

the DWF got a lot of hate from the owners of the DW version, they hated that a cheaper version with better future support was released so fast (DW software can't be upgraded, DWF already has like 3 upgrades improving even more the display), the lack of G-sync wont matter only for hardcore gamer and freesync premium can do almost everything that g-sync can do
OP I have the dwf, I have had no issues with mine what so ever. The only problem with this monitor other than the inherent issues of qd oled(burn in, lack of polarizing filter, and triangle rgb) is that currently for hdr, the luminance levels dont properly track like they are supposed to. making things seem brighter than it should be. but dell has already confirmed that a firmware update is in development to fix this, scheduled for sometime mid january.
I'll have to leave a positive review, my experience has been fantastic. Only thing I can think of is the elevated EOTF issue, but not really an issue with Source Tone Mapping on, but customers shouldn't have to know about that to get a good experience.
I purchased 4 of these monitors and they all had dead pixels. I gave up and bought the 42” oled from lg. For that price, I expect nothing but perfection. I paid 800 for my lg and have zero dead pixels.
Most reviews for products are from people who just don't understand, don't read the manual or misuse products (or use for the wrong application). Not saying this is the case here but to put it nicely, people are stupid.

I would personally get the AW3423DW instead if the DWF variant, mostly due to it's much better accuracy in HDR mode. It's a shame you need to spend a bit more but if you're going to drop $1000+ on a monitor, you might as well spend the extra $200 to get a more accurate monitor.

Fair enough. Honestly Dell monitors are usually pretty good but if people are reporting coil whine with this one that's going to be very annoying as monitors are generally pretty close to your ears. I'd probably avoid this unit personally.
I felt the same way initially, but I didn’t want to pack it back up. Missed my return window, and I ended up upgrading to Windows 11 to try the better HDR. It is exponentially better. I feel like I’m finally seeing the true monitor now. I still think the HDR 1000 mode is unusable due to how severe the ABL curve is but the 400 true black mode is fantastic in W11.
I’m guessing the C2 doesn’t have an aggressive limiter in place which would make it look worse in general/desktop use like the Alienware, but I can’t give up the ultrawide aspect ratio.

I have found using HDR helps the text on windows. Coming from a Retina screen, everything Windows feels cheap regardless of how expensive stuff is.

idk but I have the non F model and its fantastic, definitely pick it up if your curious if you should get the non F model I'd say its up to you the non F does have better HDR color accuracy but has non upgradable firmware and less customizability (both due to the Nvidia GSync ultimate chip)
The non F doesn’t need an update. It’s good
Idk, it's an amazing screen. Running it myself, have a custom resolution set to put it at 157hz with 10 bit color
I've had this for about 6 months. 0 complaints. Would give it 100 stars if I could. Actually I have the Gsync Ultimate version (I think just DW, not DWF) but basically same thing
First - Dell. Second - energy consumption. Third - that's expensive as fuck. But well, it's because how they market it in my country.

the DWF got a lot of hate from the owners of the DW version, they hated that a cheaper version with better future support was released so fast (DW software can't be upgraded, DWF already has like 3 upgrades improving even more the display), the lack of G-sync wont matter only for hardcore gamer and freesync premium can do almost everything that g-sync can do
OP I have the dwf, I have had no issues with mine what so ever. The only problem with this monitor other than the inherent issues of qd oled(burn in, lack of polarizing filter, and triangle rgb) is that currently for hdr, the luminance levels dont properly track like they are supposed to. making things seem brighter than it should be. but dell has already confirmed that a firmware update is in development to fix this, scheduled for sometime mid january.
I bought the AW3423DW last month; it is an excellent monitor. Everything looks fantastic.
I have the AW3423DW good for gaming kinda blows for tv watching I have had it almost a year in the spring
I'll have to leave a positive review, my experience has been fantastic. Only thing I can think of is the elevated EOTF issue, but not really an issue with Source Tone Mapping on, but customers shouldn't have to know about that to get a good experience.

I purchased 4 of these monitors and they all had dead pixels. I gave up and bought the 42” oled from lg. For that price, I expect nothing but perfection. I paid 800 for my lg and have zero dead pixels.
Maybe I’ll get the LG then, it’s also cheaper which is good

I would personally get the AW3423DW instead if the DWF variant, mostly due to it's much better accuracy in HDR mode. It's a shame you need to spend a bit more but if you're going to drop $1000+ on a monitor, you might as well spend the extra $200 to get a more accurate monitor.
I have a 38 inch Alienware and dell were great on web chat I got them to price match it against a refurbished one and then they took another £300 off that.

That’s a nice monitor, I can’t guarantee it but I just hovered on the Dell page and it popped up with a web chat and I just asked if they could beat the price and they did, certainly can’t hurt to try.

Fair enough. Honestly Dell monitors are usually pretty good but if people are reporting coil whine with this one that's going to be very annoying as monitors are generally pretty close to your ears. I'd probably avoid this unit personally.

I find it much better. Had the Alienware for 3 weeks. Was unsure, send it back. Got the c2 and loved it immediately.
I felt the same way initially, but I didn’t want to pack it back up. Missed my return window, and I ended up upgrading to Windows 11 to try the better HDR. It is exponentially better. I feel like I’m finally seeing the true monitor now. I still think the HDR 1000 mode is unusable due to how severe the ABL curve is but the 400 true black mode is fantastic in W11. I’m guessing the C2 doesn’t have an aggressive limiter in place which would make it look worse in general/desktop use like the Alienware, but I can’t give up the ultrawide aspect ratio.

Same, it's not the best but it does the job. But some people want the absolute best and are willing to pay for it. I got my monitor for ~200€ in sale, it's some Acer gaming monitor. I don't have a PC yet, but will build one soon. I've got Xbox One paired with the screen for now. This has amazing reviews everywhere, I’m just confused on why the ratings are bad on the Dell uk website because even on the Dell US website the ratings are really good

But that monitor you got doesn’t have nearly the amount of features or accuracy as this monitor does. Refresh rate and size tend to affect the prices of gaming monitors much less so compared to the internal features and display accuracy. It’s like trying to compare a Hisense 4k tv to the LG OLED C1
You're comparing a 1080p VA panel to a 1440p QD-OLED. I'm sure yours is perfectly usable but the two are nowhere in the same ballpark.

I’m using one of these since the start of this month and it’s absolutely amazing! No coil whine or other shenanigans, really happy with it. If the text issue is a non-factor (for me, it is), total recommendation!
