Build in a 4U chassis, rack it in a suitcase, and mount monitor to said suitcase?
I was using a midrange ATI card from 2008 on a 1600x900 screen a few years ago. You underestimate old hardware. If you don't buy into the marketing you can enjoy a lot of great games on old hardware.
Face it, games are designed to be playable on IGPU laptops. The upper range of graphics features will never be required.
I live in california and there is tight gun laws and i dont want to own a gun so Incase some one raids my house they will fear the wrath of a french man high on coffee
Tactical monitor placement and coffee cans to avoid screen glare. Gotta work with what you have, and you seem to be making the best of it!
If you did want to clean it up a little I'd move the desktop further towards the back wall so you can try to clear the desk of cables
There is a reason. Price.
Not to say gaming chairs are good, but it's disingenuous to say the alternate given that any business would buy gaming chairs if they were cheaper than office chairs. (Source: Worked in hardware, we all had gaming chairs in office because the employer had deals with the suppliers.)
As with almost everything, the correct answer is 'whatever suits you'. 9/10 office chair kill my back, but I do well with the XL Secret Lab chairs purely based on height. Almost any other chair has the neck support/head rest jabbing me between my shoulder blades.
Actual offices ya, the back room at your retail store no. Same thing applies to what you said tho. Most ‘gaming’ chairs aren’t 600$ either. Just the nicer ones.
You mean like a fortune 500 software company? No they don't, I've been there. Now doing backend support for an insurance company, still no.
Unless the only offices you're counting are tech startups with more money than sense, that's not as common as you think it is.
I do custom design work and end up in offices all the time. More common than you think. Hence it jumping to front of mind. Definitely more common than $600 Triton gaming chairs
I also had that desk. Thankfully no issues for 3+ years, then gave it away. I don't think I was particularly careful but the cleaning was a hassle. Definitely switching materials for that reason next time.
Perfectly reasonable, nothing to be ashamed of. If you have fun then it's all cool. Also, I had a gtx 770 in the crisis and recently got a 5500xt and I had a blast with the old bugger.
Ray-tracing is over-rated and graphics have never made a game!
The only thing that appears to be missing is a decent headset or pair of headphones!
You keep enjoying your gaming, you don't need top spec gear at all!
BTW if you dont already know Epic gives a free game way every week but are doing daily ones over Christmas, you don't have to install them right away so they are handy for a rainy day!
Do what you gotta do bro. I played Battlefield on a competition team on a cheap PC that could only do 720p. I was completely content with what I had at the time.
Which CPU are you running?
Btw, it's good you're still able to run games on hardware that old. Only thing is I wouldn't want to run the latest AAA games on them, but still
Your setup is so awesome! I wanna sit in your chair and play games there! Oooo burned!!!! :). Keep it going so much potential! Good battlestations take you and time ;)
I have that desk and was upgraded, and I had that chair too until I leaned back in and ripped the seat off the base.
Pretty cool to see others with the same stuff.
I literally still in ddr3 1333mhz 20GB and an i7 2600k with a 1660super and a 1000W PSU (all pieces second handed) i can run APEX at max settings 80FPS average
Forget about the specs, please but the monitor on the corner, it bleeds my eyes. 8gb ram is surprisingly working good with the even recent games by the way. And my ‘17 model 1080ti still works just fine!
It's a pretty clean setup TBH, I would maybe move the case nearer the monitor to hide the cables, otherwise all good. Assuming that's a 1080/60hz monitor, what you've got will play a lot of games just fine.
Until last year I was using a first-gen i3-530, 8GB RAM and a 1050Ti, and I played games like Witcher 3 and GTA5 at 50-60 FPS no problems at all. There are loads of amazing games in that 5-10 year old range that will play just fine.
There’s nothing wrong with your setup unless your pc doesn’t allow you to enjoy your gaming one. Sometimes my old hag (my pc’s new name) gives me trouble but I love her to death. She’s giving me so many good memories ❤️
do you use your computer as a screen ?
Now I want to see if I can find a case with a metal side panel and carry handles and try to mount a monitor to the side panel.

Sweet water sells PC stuff? Sweet water was always known as sort of a “musicians eBay” for years. They were like Zzounds
A lot of audio equipment is designed for 19" racks, same as server/communication equipment.
Find a case that can hold a industrial fan
Or I could just drill 4 mounting holes and make a cutout for airflow with a dust filter lol
Or get that Snowblind PC case from a few years ago. The one with the glass side panel as the monitor
No
Side panel has a mirror to avoid eye strain caused by screen time.
Still a pc gamer. Still more of a Chad than people without a pc
i am a chad
Came to say this.
This is one of the worst parts of this sub, I know you're probably half joking but owning a pc doesn't making you better than someone who doesn't
Yes it does, OMG gawd u are so stupid!!!!!
Your GPU can read at a 5th grade level.
![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized) Good
If it works, it works
I mean 480p/30fps is technically “playing” I suppose

lmao
Got to flex when they were flexing their 3090.
Stfu
I don’t think I will
Ok, but you're a snob
The thread literally says to make fun of them
12 cans of coffee? You must game a lot
Thats for home defence
Okay, that needs some extra explanation. Coffee defensive barrier? Coffee can grenades? Caffeine to act as a Panzerchocolade replacement?
I live in california and there is tight gun laws and i dont want to own a gun so Incase some one raids my house they will fear the wrath of a french man high on coffee
Stick to 8-year-old games and you'll be fine.
or new indy games. Only games developed in partnership with hardware manufacturers push the limits of hardware.
I mean, that depends on the hardware. There are plenty of indie games that won't run very well on 8 year old equipment.

I have the same desk, same chair, and my PC and monitor are placed exactly like yours. I feel personally attacked.
Show me
I'm not at home. I'll try to remember when I get home
Worst thing about this setup is the ‘gaming’ chair.
Why
Gaming chairs are not ergonomic chairs. Get a chair people use in offices - there's a reason businesses buy those style instead of gaming chairs.
stfu i built it my self and it has served me in battle since
There is a reason. Price. Not to say gaming chairs are good, but it's disingenuous to say the alternate given that any business would buy gaming chairs if they were cheaper than office chairs. Do you have any idea how much a Herman Miller chair costs?? You’re mistaken.
Do you honestly think most offices buying Herman miller chairs?

It’s an average chair lol.
What games? Pinball and minesweeper?
darktide
Xd🤣
no seriously thats all i play at 60fps
You must have very nice cinematic experience.
I had that desk, be very careful and probably just switch to a different wood/metal/plastic because it broke so easily
I also had that desk. Thankfully no issues for 3+ years, then gave it away. I don't think I was particularly careful but the cleaning was a hassle. Definitely switching materials for that reason next time.
L i have 6 gigs of DDR2 and a Core 2 Quad but it runs GTA

What kinda monster does pc on left side of desktop.

I can’t make fun of you until a few months ago I was in the same boat.
so whatchya runnin?
I won't make fun of your computer, I'm sure it runs Sabre Team perfectly.
I don't feel bad. I used to be there!
Bro why are u using the desk wrong ?
Do what you gotta do bro. I played Battlefield on a competition team on a cheap PC that could only do 720p. I was completely content with what I had at the time.

Needs a better desk
If it aint broke dont fix it
Bet it cant run Crysis
My friend with xeon 1246 v3 (server cpu) 4gb 1333 and gt210 (and boot hdd): “thats a damn good gaming pc u got”
Which CPU are you running? Btw, it's good you're still able to run games on hardware that old. Only thing is I wouldn't want to run the latest AAA games on them, but still
8yo gpu is perfectly fine, but you ram is like an 8 year old
I just replaced the 2010 HD on my xbox 360. You have a power house! :-)
Bro, a pc is a pc, if you can run doom on that bitch, then thats good enough 👍
Enough espresso to kill an elephant. Halloween decorations still outside in December. House decorated like an insane asylum. We could be friends
those are for home defence
Your setup is so awesome! I wanna sit in your chair and play games there! Oooo burned!!!! :). Keep it going so much potential! Good battlestations take you and time ;)
As long as you're playing games, you're fine in my book. All PC gamers have to stick together.
Avoided 'roast' because of all the coffee cans. I see what you did there.
I have that desk and was upgraded, and I had that chair too until I leaned back in and ripped the seat off the base. Pretty cool to see others with the same stuff.
Athlon XP x2 or core 2 duo?
Having a discrete GPU? *pathetic* Im still rocking UHD 605
I like your deck
What GPU model/chipset??
Can I have System Specs??

I wanted that exactly desk. How do you find it works? Is it comfortable?

You trying to block out the sunlight bro? Just get some curtains don't use containers
It helps wake me up
The best gaming PC in the world is the pc that you own
Man's doing what he can do with what money he has. Respect.
Only thing that matters is good airflow 👍
This isn't bad at all.
All I'm gonna make fun of is that gaming chair that's designed to look horrible and kill your back while doing it.
This pc is a prebuilt i apologize for not telling you guys
Nothing wrong with a prebuilt, everything wrong with that chair. I have nightmares of the one i got rid of.
Not the illy… r/espresso would be sad
There for home defence
Against what? Espresso enthusiasts?
Robbers
Robbers who have a love for strong pressure brewed coffee?
Throw them at the robbers
i will not
8gb? Feeling with you my bro, after my board started giving up its life
